    Remember to check the engine hours. You don't want to end up with a low mileage truck with 20,000 engine hours. Thanks for the content.

    Very informative video. One thing I recommend whenever you go buy used or new truck, take PTI schedule sheet with you and do through inspection and mark it on sheet, Also check everything in bunk from bunk heater to small light. Most of the dealers will fix later if anything goes bad, but then they need ur truck 1-2 days even for minor repair. So get it everything fix, before you sign any document.

    The mistake IMHO is selling/trading a paid off truck. If you’re really planning ahead, you use the new truck to refurbish the older. Once that is done you use the new truck sparingly with the lions share of the earnings are with the old truck. Even with a new truck a driver is down if the truck is down. With a second paid off truck, revenue continues to come in.

    Do NOT ever tell them you are buying with cash until there’s a price agreement. 99% of dealers assume you are going to finance with their people. So they give you a “sweeter” deal. Don’t mention anything about financing until after the price is settled and in writing. Throwing around the I’m paying with cash makes you look like an idiot. A good salesman will know how to put that money in their pocket.

  • @the.porter.productions
    @the.porter.productions 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    SCAMS...It made me really think about it. You don’t think that truck dealerships would really do this, but they’re no different than a car dealership. Very true...they won’t give you what your truck is worth, not even close, in most cases. You stand a much better chance of getting more out of your rig if you hold onto it and sell it yourself. The bad thing there is that you don’t get any money from it until you sell it, so it’s still a liability. I like walking into a dealership simply because I want to see in person the truck(s) that I’m interested in. I’m more visual and pictures usually don’t do it justice. But my mindset is that I’m only WINDOW SHOPPING and I can leave without taking it with me. You made a good point on the trade in...while you’re looking, they’re going over your truck and when they give you the rundown sheet it is a total shocker. 😳 That can be overwhelming! 😳 Good stuff. I had a friend who bought a truck over the phone. The seller assured him that the truck was in top shape. He drove from another state to pick the truck up. He got there, looked the truck over, but wasn’t too pleased about a couple things. Since he had given his word on taking the truck he took the truck anyway. The truck had issues on the trip home and was nothing but a money pit the entire time he owned it. He just didn’t want to go back on his word and that was important to him. He paid for it in the end though. Good stuff! The Porter Dude of Ohio.

      The prob with the whole system is it puts more strain on the whole entire Diesel engine system. Try breathing thru a small tube for the rest of your life while having a mask over the small tube. The def and pollution control system is band aid solutions. While I do love Diesel engines. They are huge problem for nox and other bad pollution to our earth.
      But the world runs on diesel and it what keeps the earth turning. Keep things going. Oil companies is what what keep us all addicted to oil/Diesel/fossil fuels. The gas and Diesel engine hasn’t changed much in last what 100+ years? It’s still suprised me that we haven’t found a more cleaner better fuel efficient Diesel engines. Sure we have hybrid engine and we have electrical, sure they getting better and closer, but they still can not compete with with turbo diesel. old 6NZ/34006 Cat engine from 2001-07 ish. Maybe someday we can still have Diesel engine sound but without the pollution.
      As said in the video, newer truck breaks down because how poor most newer trucks are made. While cummins is or was good engine. They still aren’t or prob ever will be as good as old CAT that can run 1 million + miles before it needs full overhaul. (If the truck is maintain properly.). But yes old Diesel engine do pollute.

    In 2008 I bought a new Mack,rawhide or what ever the heck they called it.I liked the price but the finance part was a joke. The interest rate was good and payments were very doable but the rep started adding on this program and that program until the payment balooned to another $1000 a month. I refused the extras explaining that the truck was covered by warranty and it would be more in my interest to invest the $1000 a month for my own benifit and offset the depreciation towards my next purchase. They took the deal but when they took the first payment ,they tried for the added amount too. I got my lawyer involved and long story short I won ,they paid my costs and took their damn truck back and I lived happily ever after.Lesson , read the fine print and be prepared to walk if the deal isn't right.Your money comes first,always.

    Used car dealers are proverbial for ripping people off. Heck, even used horse dealers would slap a coat of paint and a fake tail on a mule and try to pass it off as a racehorse. Why would truck dealers be any different? As an aside, the one time I bought a used pickup from a lot I had a great experience. The Chevy was in decent shape for it's year and mechanically sound. They were willing to haggle, and a trip to the jiffy lube later I had a reliable vehicle. So just be careful who you deal with.

Total slime bags, our company leases a bunch of them with matinence packages and is the biggest scam in trucking in my opinion. Our terminal can't stand them but our head office keeps getting them. They can't understand why they have such driver turnover. Who wants a week of down time for a broken hood latch ,while they search junk yards and white box parts suppliers to save $11.. no regard for safety, no driver can make a living or a lease payment without going bankrupt driving one of the pieces of crap..

    Dealers make more on used trucks than new, high demand trucks. Why? Because they get them so cheap from a sucker that traded it in too far below market. Caution: make the deal on your new truck before even talking about a trade-in. That way, they cannot give you a realistic trade in value by burying the fluff in the new truck price.

  • @iEuno1
    @iEuno1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, the quality of operational feasibility of the truck system is what matters. The year and the kilometer is irrelevant if the system works better than a new truck. Of course, you would need a more scientific approach to it than just other forms of approach, so, you would also need to meet technical feasibility for your analysis of the truck. -To test the system and get it approved by a mechanic is important. I would not just test it and buy it before getting a mechanic to verify the value.

I told him he had to throw an APU in it because I'm not going to freeze or burn up because in many states they don't allow you to idle. I would really make him clean up every little detail that I wanted him to but I'm so afraid of these newer trucks having all of the regen in issues with the def system.

    I'm buying a Truck to pull my 46 foot RV. I do not have a CDL. It's going to registered as and RV. Will I be able to test drive it on the road or lot?
