Omg did anyone else have a panic attack when she cut the cover? 😳 i have mine in sleeves too but I folded it along the natural fold to the left of the spine. 🥺
Basilchic I finished my dvd organization. I wanted boxes that I could use and have the DVDs stand upright. I found the boxes at ikea. I even made dividers by category by covering cardboard with contact paper and putting a label on each one with the appropriate genre (horror, classic, television, thriller, comedy, etc)
Yeeeessss! A Jane-Austen-section! Finally, somebody gets me! 🤩 Love the look of your DVD-organization, practical and beautiful at the same time! Hope, I can find these DVD-sleeves you have shown in the EU, also.
This is great, I've been trying to figure out how to do my DVDs because I have so many. I might have to do 1 box for kids and 1 for adults. Also love the sleeves cause we get to keep the cover!!!
Great idea! I like those sleeves. We have a DVD organizer that looks like a long, leather box that opens up and the DVD's are slid into upright slots that are numbered. Then there is a guide that slides out from the bottom for you to write the title by the corresponding number. But I like yours better, especially saving the cover photo and being able to flip thru. Thanks for sharing, I always look forward to your videos. --Anne
Just bought the sleeves and some DVDs boxes for $4.99 they were add ons.. I was so excited to start putting it together! It looks great and saving me a ton of space! Thank so so much!
@@stephanielynnhome The only thing I didn't do was cut the DVD covers. I simply folded them in half and the fit perfectly. I repurposed a shoe container to house my DVD collection. Thanks for the video.
This video was so helpful! I just got rid of all of my DVD cases & just have them in a small DVD case holder thing. I love this so much more & it is much cuter!!!
My tv series are way too big to fit in that tiny box haha great organization though especially for those who don’t want giant cabinets and don’t have large collections
This is an awesome idea! I'd never seen these before. Ordered some in Amazon. Very good quality. Now I just have to get a box. Like the one you have. It matches my living room well. We also have open cabinets, so things have to look nice. Thank you so much for sharing!
Basilchic Yes! I have to get out there to grab the box. But, the box I will be using will work until it's full and the discs can no longer lean back. I did order the sleeves. They're awesome! I will need to order probably one more box. So excited to declutter and save some space! Happy New Year to you as well!
I barely came across this video. Since a few years passed, have any movies been scratched by doing this method? I might consider doing this. You make it look nice!!
Hey Girl!!! I have been such a bad youtube friend because I haven't seen any of your latest videos, I really need to catch up because I know they have some good info in them!! I'm so glad you like this solution, I actually did a lot of research to do lol, but I enjoyed every minute! It was a fun project! How are you? Hope things are doing well! Are you on any other social media outlets at all?
You have nothing to worry about, I totally understand. How is it that we are already in the middle of the year when we were just uploading videos about Christmas? Crazy, huh? I'm glad you decided to share this idea because it's perfect for my needs (and I'm sure many others are benefiting as well). I am doing well. I am 38 weeks pregnant today and waiting for baby to come any day. Apparently I may not make it to my due date of June 11th but we shall see. We are also moving into our first home here in Oregon! All this is super exciting but crazy because we move in two weeks which is around the time baby is due. It's crazy busy but we have faith that everything is going to work out. TH-cam and my blog (which I don't update often) are my only two social outlets at the moment. Wishing you a wonderful holiday weekend! :)
Wow so many exciting things are happening for you right now!! Yes I can't believe we are already half way through the year! It makes me kinda sad because i haven't accomplished nearly what I have wanted to, but what can you do. I once heard a sermon about how God likes to "Build bigger ditches" because then when he works he gets more glory (Like when Elijah told the people to pour more water on the alter during a drought in order to prove he worshiped the real God). Right now with your baby coming soon, and a new house around the corner, I would say God has dug a wonderful and large ditch, and he will move! Your faith will be honored, and my prayers go out to you! :)
Thank you so much for this wonderful reminder. I couldn't agree more. I sure appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We trusted in His plan and timing for us completely. He orchestrated the perfect plan for us as everything (although stressful) ended up working for us. :)
Hi there...great video... which ikea container is that and also do you have the links for both post it tabs and ikea box? TIA...I tried to look for those post it tabs, I didn't see it at office depot nor Amazon.
Let me check, here are the post it tabs: amzn.to/3eZGpgV or amzn.to/3l3OMf1 Unfortunately, they no longer sell those bins but they sell a similar one: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/besta-box-gray-00307552/ I think something like this is another good option: amzn.to/3iQ3ROL
thank you! found them online & just ordered today. we don't have an IKEA near us. now over to Amazon for the DVD sleeves. this is my next project. you are an inspiration.
This was so incredibly helpful!! My DVDs are currently in our office. They're very unorganized, hard to access & they do not fit on the shelf anymore because I have too many lol Thank you for sharing this!! One question, where did you get the boxes?
How many DVDs did you get in one box? And what did you do with the cases? Do you know if they can be recycled? Also, do you think keeping the whole dvd cover, front and back would fit in the plastic sleeve? Looks good, thanks for sharing!
I got about 100 DVD sleeves in the box with DVD's in them! Kinda embarrassed we have so many because we don't watch them too often haha. I did recycle the cases, they took them no problem, and you can defiantly fit the front and back cover in these! :)
Wow! I t really holds a lot! I don't know how many movies we have but I'm sure we could fill up a box easily! I had never seen sleeves like that before, so taking them out of the cases seem much more appealing now. Thanks!
11 inches long, 8 inches wide, and 6 inches high and you could go higher. I got these bins from ikea, but I also found them on Amazon amzn.to/2xoqkNX :)
What is the name of the bins you bought at Ikea. I LOVE them we will be copying your idea. -thank you for the clear way you described your system; it really helped.
Ok, I can't find the exact one online, but they have them at my store, so I'm hoping you are near a store too! The name of the one in the series I found online (It's the larger version of the ones I used) is KVARNVIK. Maybe they will come back in stock online soon!
Instead of cutting the original cover, search the film on internet and take the cover picture. Make a standarized template to add the picture for all movies and print them out (normal or photo paper, depends how much money you want to use). Pack all original covers down in a few boxes and keep them somewhere away.
Just fold the cover don't cut. many of those sleeves are large enough that you just have to fold over at the spine, don't have to damage the sleeves at all. If you do have to cut the cover you have the wrong brand of sleeves.
I don't think you had to cut the covers. Just flatten them down and put them in the sleeves, in front of the DVDs. That's what I do. It's perfectly fine.
The DVD sleves do not fit in my IKEA (6 1/4 x 11 1/2 6, 16x29x 15 cm) boxes! ?? Got off IKEA - KVARNVIK. Looks exactly same but too narrow to fit as shown.
Hmm, could you trim the sides of them? I think that's what I did. Are they too big vertically or horizontally? I know I can't close my top all the way, but I'm ok with it just sitting on top. I will also remeasure my boxes to double check!
The DVD sleeves are PERFECT. No problem trimming insert when needed as shown. Problem is finding that exact 8" wide IKEA BOX (not the 6" wide which is too narrow). IKEA's online mobile site does not even show proper dimensions so use the full site only. I am following you exactly on this. Could you simply add a link for the exact 8" wide box? (Ordered 6 boxes of sleeves and they're great. I have a lot of movies and music CDs, lol). Thanks.. great video!
Question. Works great, but now I want to the same with my music CD collection. I got a slightly smaller IKEA box by mistake and thought it might work for CDs if Atlantic makes a smaller (music CD) sleeve. Ideas?
My heart dropped when she cut the cover.
Watching that was like being STABBED in the heart!
Why
It's better than throwing it in the trash.
She could've at least folded it like another casual organization person on TH-cam did!
You don't have to cut the covers. I just folded mine in half and it fit perfectly.
Omg did anyone else have a panic attack when she cut the cover? 😳 i have mine in sleeves too but I folded it along the natural fold to the left of the spine. 🥺
I wasn't a fan but I lov3 the sleeves
This is amazing! Finally found the baskets I wanted mine to go in and almost all our dvds are done and it looks so amazing! We've done 300 so far!
Wow! That's amazing!! So happy this was helpful!
