      You da real MVP. I know everyone has a story but we're all here for quick ideas and this sure ain't the only video we're watching. I really don't have time to do this. Think I'll keep em in cases tbh, but I do like the concept.

    Thin jewel cases work well as dividers. They're much more rigid. Neat system.

    Thank you great tip, what I did in top of your idea. I typed, in an Excel document every titles associated with all of the alphabet letter all of the title movies or music associated with this particular letter. The document is on top of the rack so it's easy to find what's in the letter A or any other letter. Thanks again.

    I'm thinking of getting rid of some of my DVD cases too. Only keep them for movies I really like, it saves sooo much space when you put them in sleeves

    • @aplacetonest

      It does save so much space! I finally got rid of all of my cases except the ones that belong to our kids. I figured they might want them in cases when they move out and take their movies with them.

      +Bored or Bananas We used to have ours separated by type, too. So far this way is working but if I need to, I could always make a larger divider to separate and keep the kids movies in their own section. We'll see how it goes. :) Thanks for watching!

    I am desperate to do this to my DVD collection. I've bought the DVD sleeves and washi tape, already own a laminator - just need to find the right container. I have my heart set on copper/bronze wire baskets but can't find them anywhere in the UK. I don't think I'll ever be happy.

    What are the dimensions of the baskets? I’ve been looking for some and cannot find the right size. We have over 500 DVD’s after my husband and I combined our collections, got rid of what we don’t use and what we had duplicates of.

    I'm looking to thin out the bulk of my CD/DVD collection. (I was going to give them to Salvation Army) So I got to thinking getting rid of the jewel cases would possibly solve the problem. If I did something like this, is there room in those plastic sleeves to include the CD/DVD artwork sleeves along with the discs in those plastic sleeve you're using? Thanks

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it might fit CD artwork but a DVD cover would have to be cut down to fit and might be a bit bulky.

      I had the idea to do that with my CDs years ago and put them in paper
      sleeves with the front cover included, and now I got tired of that idea
      and hopefully one day will buy all new cases. I like to look at the front and back covers when I am listening to music. The experience of listening to music then becomes more of a ritual.

    Why did they make DVD cases so bulky to begin with? Should we blame shoplifters?

    • @marcmarc1967
      @marcmarc1967 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Back then, buying a DVD was a special purchase. It came with a special case. They were $25 or more (in 1997 money, which is like spending $50 now.) It was something you owned 10-20 of maybe. Maybe some of your favorite movies. Nobody expected them to be $1 each on Ebay, and people to own hundreds or thousands of them.

  • @zebunker
    @zebunker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They are not stored. They are partially destroyed. This is why movies come in protective cases that raise the disc so no scratches and labele. Ugh.

    • @KJ7JHN
      @KJ7JHN 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pop center can decrease the shelf life. The scratches mainly affect the plastic, not the paint where the data is. This can be a nicer approach for media preservation that the push and bend disc option. Never mind that many sets sold at Walmart come broken.
