      @@Victoria-Victorious Okay thank you. I wonder if rich singers have ever had their larynx surgically stretched to increase their vocal octave range without ever again having to to do vocal exercises. And NO! I do NOT want that done to me!

    the slow scale!! fantastic tip. I've been doing marchesi exercises and have a tendency to want to go as fast as possible but I sensed that its when going slowly that you can perfect them.

    I have been singing as long as I can remember but never ever took singing lessons. I recently started singing Karaoke at a local restaurant for fun. I’ve become somewhat of a hit but I did not understand why I was unable to reach what I think is my full potential. Being an asthmatic, I thought maybe my breathing problem was the issue. So I decided to look into vocal coaching on you tube and came across this video. And let me tell you, one session alone helped me so much. You are amazing in your craft and I look forward to continuing these exercises and mastering these techniques. I can’t thank you enough! And can’t wait to watch all your videos!

    This is a game changer for me. I've always had a pretty good, strong voice, including in the head tone, but struggled in that blended range. Now I know why. I especially liked the advice to live in that passaggio range for a long time. I found all the exercises to be very helpful. Thank you Ms. Victoria! BTW, you (and your accent) crack me up. I love this serious subject being taught in a light-hearted, fun way.

    I noticed two 'thumbs down' ratings for this video. Wonder what they didn't like. I thought it was very good. Tenors live in the passaggio (as opposed to passing thru on the way to other notes) and I'm grateful for all the help I can get.

    I do love your lessons Victoria! You make me laugh! I have been able to get higher notes from the siren exercises, which I do while driving (not the throwing and bending, obvs). It really works to loosen everything up, and get out of your mind. We are singing Sprig of Thyme (arr Rutter) and there are a few top notes for altos in there. So, I shall be going through all the lessons again. Thank you so much for everything you do.

    Istg my voice probably takes up the range of several voice types, yes that includes female ranges- My chest voice goes from E2-C4, but then my head voice somehow can go up to C6 relatively consistently, sometimes up to E6 on a good day. Keep in mind that this isn’t all my comfortable range, this is just what my voice can do in general. I need to work on my chest voice since somehow at the moment my head voice is more powerful than my chest voice-
    Not sure how normal this is. My voice isn’t fully developed yet though, so maybe it’ll even out a bit. Who knows

    I have one question for you. When i sing solo only then i can work with my voice but when i sing in choir and THEN i have to sing solo... that's really problematic. With choir i have no control over my technique and i will get "stuck" very easily. Do you have any advice or exercise for "cooling" my voice and my vocal chords down? For example if i have 5 minutes between choir and solo singing.

    I want to share: When I was in my 20's I was singing in the community choir at my college and I noticed that I could sing 4 octaves without breaks. This was natural as I had no vocal training at that point. Director put me in the 2nd tenors (don't know why) and he use to lament about the soprano in the tenor section (LOL!). I confessed to him later in life that it was me. But given that I got a lot of ridicule back then (in the 80's) for sounding like a girl, I pretty much stopped singing publicly for about 25 years. It was in 2007, just after Pavarotti died, that I had a vision of him telling me why wasn't I singing. I figured that maybe I was suppose to sing opera. Not that good at it because all I could sing was up to Mid C. I was devastated that I lost so much of my range. I listened to Philip Jaroussky (countertenor) and said there is the voice I lost. I wanted to sing like him and other CTs out there. I have managed to sing in my upper ranges again but I still have issues (probably mental blocks at this point) with transition as my chest and head seem to overlap. Or maybe it is my perception as I never heard the term mix until recently in the past few years. ----- anyway getting back to your video I feel you are correct on all counts. I wish I could feel these sensations. Just can't. Maybe there is some nerve damage since I am a diabetic. Also I don't have check bones and to fabricate that look I have to add tension to my face. What does one do when they can't stand their chest voice!? I tend to sing only in head/mix voice as I cannot stand my chest voice.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't worry about not liking your chest voice. Since you are a countertenor, you sing in a mix/head anyway.
