Teacher Victoria. You're spectacular. I am from Sudamérica. I'm colombian. I've been learning english for a lot of time but I don't speak very well however your speaking is very clear. I understand almost all you say, and that I don't understand some things you say is because I need a better vocabulary.
And the other hand, I would like to say that the style of your CLASS is very nice. I have been studying singing for about 4 years and you are the best teacher I've ever had, because you go to the point.
I'm 65 years old, and my desire is to achieve my head and mixed voice because I would like to praise the Lord with my singing in church.
Thank you for being a teacher of many who want to learn to sing.
God bless you for your talent and your work.
I've tried to write without using a translator, but in some parts I have used it.

I love it how you give real song examples immediately after the vocal exercises lesson to show how the exercises can be used in the context of a song or how it can help improve your ability to sing a particular phrase in a song. This is really the best way to teach singing or anything else for that matter. Plus, it helps motivate the students to continue practicing the exercise when he/she sees an application of it.

I am still relatively new here Victoria, but this is a very helpful lesson. I felt my head voice immediately sound much stronger! It must be your teaching that did that, but it was almost like thinking "I should never have a problem in reaching the VERY highest notes in opera and musical theatre." It certainly is well within my grasp now. Thank you for the little bit incorporating the wonderful "....Lonely Goatherd" song - I sing this from time to time, including the yodelling parts, though I suppose in the song, it's not absolute true yodelling....? Thank you so much Victoria.

I don’t do quite as well with tutorials as I do in person lol I guess I’m just an old soul stuck back before the phones and all the stuff and technology count is complicated as it is, but I sing a Christian worship group and I’m the lead singer, but I have always feel lots of need for improvement in my voice, and I just feel like you would be just the person to give it to me straight and teach me the way it truly needs to be so that I can use my voice for its true meaning and purpose, to praise, witness and worship the one who Gave me the voice and my life in the first place!!! God bless you, Victoria!! I think you are wonderful!!!

You look super cute, and I must say that that was super helpful, as our all your videos. You are a gifted teacher, and I think I am starting to understand singing, and how it is that we are acoustic wind instruments. You can be the judge of that.
What I understand you saying is that everything on one side of the bridge or passagio is controlled by one muscle, and everything on the other side is controlled by a different muscle-so a lower register, an upper register and a bridge (not a break) in the middle.
The lower register, chest voice, is more developed, because we speak in the lower register and have developed that muscle more, through speech, therefore it has better chord closure.
Head voice, our upper register, whose sound resonates higher in the body, in the head, is less developed, less used by us and has less chord closure, and falsetto is a breathy head voice with hardly any chord closure, but everything is all one voice-so one voice, two muscles and the same vocal chords which have to stretch, get thinner to produce the higher notes on the scale.
Breath support, resisting the temptation to collapse and exhale air too quickly, allows the right amount of air to exhale at the right pace to support sound. This creates the right amount of chord closure enabling non breathy singing.
So the breath sustains the voice-run out of breath, run out of voice. Meanwhile the vocal folds stretch to reach the higher notes, and we have a tendency to reach, or tense up and choke our otherwise beautiful sound, but when this is not the case, because we have accustomed ourself to think of high notes as no less accessible than low notes, (eliminating the reach) the voice is free to sing in upper and lower registers, without inhibition, the lower pitch sounds resonating lower in the body and the higher pitched sounds resonating higher in the body.
This higher pitched resonance we call ping, and since the voice has both a lower chest register and a higher head register, the notes that are sung in between, as long as they have good chord closure, created by holding back just the right amount of airflow is called the mixed voice, or chest/head blend,.
So, when we have proper alignment and everything is in its position, throat, tongue, jaw etc, and we do not tense them or carry tension in them, when what is supposed to be relaxed is relaxed, and we have the right amount of airflow and muscular development, we can sing-the sound produced by unobstructed airflow produces tones that resonate in the body where there is space to do so, and which is modified by mouth, tongue, larynx position to produce better sounds.
The vocal folds vibrate from the air and that is what produces the voice and air flowing to and through different places in the body is responsible for resonance and tone.
I watched all your videos and that is what I have understood thus far
I never thought there was so much to it, but in essence, it is also simple. There is air, vibrating vocal chords, sound , tone, resonance, technique and challenges. Have I understood correctly. I’m sure I have a long way to go, as you say, learning is a life long journey but. I believe you have given me so much of how it all works, that I can apply it with some understanding.

@ I do have one quick question which I would like your expertise upon. I noticed from time to time that I get a lot of congestion built-up in my lax and in my throat. It causes me to have to push harder and work hard harder to make the same note, come out of my mouth. Is there anyway that you know of that you can get rid of some of that mucus and phlegm and stuff that hangs around in your throat. I know that’s kind of gross but. I’ve tried cough drops. I’ve tried gargling salt water. Do you have any other tips?

Thank you so much for sharing these exercises and what a lovely voice you have! The ones I found most challenging were the lip trills (maybe it's my faulty teeth) and the staccatos. I also find that after about 15 minutes of warming up or singing, I have to rest because I'm tired and out of breath (my breathing in general must be faulty or my diaphragm is weak). Still, I keep on and go about it in 15-minute blocks. :)

Hi Victoria.. I stumbled upon your channel by accident and started working on my head voice. Indian music is very different from western but I have found your exercises very very useful. Thank you so much for them. Your videos truly demonstrate your passion for both music and teaching.
One question though. For how long would you recommend we do these exercises?

Every voice is different. Generally, 10 minutes a day is good.
