- Jonathan goes in search of one of the most elusive fish in the North Atlantic: the Goosefish (sometimes called a Monkfish). He travels to the wreck of the Patriot on Stellwagen Bank where he finally meets the weirdest fish in the sea--the American Anglerfish.

The guy is trying to hide and you follow him holding a 10.000 lumen spotlight right into his face 😂
I am just shocked every time I watch Jonathan Bird. He is in my opinion the best underwater cinematographer in the world.
I simply agree. Him, and the whole team behind these videos are all Legends!
Mark Said ikr!
Fintastic Films I couldn't agree more and he makes an active effort to be humbled by all the guests he meets. I actually hit up a dive spot for threshers and had the same captain and team he had and they sung his praises :)
I totally agree. I mean the way he does things is complete & he uses every ground & water advantage he has. I believe this is a gift he has.
Agreed, but what was up with that beard! He looked like Robin Williams.
I think the goose fish makes the list of the most strangest looking fish
Not enough adjective to describe how amazing the fish and this underwater video is!
This is one of the weirdest & coolest fish I've ever seen .🐠🐟🐙🐚🐡 Thank you ! 😊 Looks like a FLAT SHARK ! 😁
You are absolutely right, the Goosefish looks a lot like a Wobbegong shark. Check out our episode on "Bottom-dwelling sharks" . th-cam.com/video/9TDuPJ1lZAs/w-d-xo.html
Amazing photography, absolutely love the high resolution video. It's a real treat being able to see so much detail on the fish and underwater environments. Thank you Jonathan!
Thanks for watching!
Cool
When the fish opened its mouth and got the fish,I was surprised and my body moved a little! Animals in the sea or ocean are truly amazing! That's why they're my fave type of animal!
0:20 I love how the Jonathan bird’s blue world screen and the hammerhead shark approaches the camera then bumps into it 😂
Arlo and Beatrix loved the episode. Thanks for making the show.
What a magnificent creature! I love very weird creatures too, Jonathan. I find them very captivating.
Thanks for the marvellous video, Jonathan and Team. Keep up the amazing work.
when i grow up i wanted be a marine biologist and now you made me excited!!!!
Your enthusiasm and love of the ocean and its creatures is contagious. The BEST videos ever!!!!
This is so cool!
3:19 when Jonathan Bird upgrades to Jonathan Beard.
Generic Jeebus ahaha love your comment... he just pops up with it
Yea he looked wired with it
Honestly, this should be a tv show.
it was for a long time! It was on PBS
Amazing video, as always. Much love Jon.
hey jonathan bird!! i have two boys, aged 4 and 5, we stumbled upon your video one day and they are HOOKED, anytime i tell them they're allowed to watch a show they ask to watch jonathan bird. my 4 year old said "I'm going to be him for halloween next year" and practices scuba diving in the bath tub with straws. my 5 year old says, when i grow up i am going to be jonathan bird. as a parent who has a hard time with all the strange context of children shows these days and how much garbage goes into them, i am thrilled they can watch something that is both informative, fun, and encourages them to delve deeper into the depths of worlds to be discovered! thank you, to you and your whole crew, for welcoming us into your world.
Thanks so much for your comments and for watching! I completely agree that there is a lot of really bad stuff out there being marketed at younger viewers and it's often pretty inappropriate (i.e. just about anything on Nickelodeon or Disney). We like to keep it clean and fun for all ages and we have fans from 4 to 80. And I'm constantly amazed by how much the really little kids actually are able to understand and remember. Kids are way smarter than most producers of "kids shows" think. Which is why most kids, but about age 5, have absolutely no interest in anything on PBS because all those shows feel like they talk down to kids. Many people think that we produce Blue World as a "Kids show" and that's absolutely not true. I write the show as if I am speaking to a general audience who is not familiar with the topic and just explain in an approachable way what is happening and why. Sometimes I am accused of being a bit didactic, so I'm trying to work on that. Little known fact: I write every single show myself. We have no other writers.
Been watching for years. You deserve as much/more than that brave wilderness channel
I love them both and wish them both the best
Great video! That is one weird fish. Sort of the stealth bomber of the ocean.
So glad I found this channel. Am currently binging
Music to my ears!!!! :-)
Dankeschön 🤗 für diese phantastische Serie 🌹
Would be cool if jonathan made a video with jellyfish, would be a very intresting topic.
Ahgii yup
Goosefish?! I've never heard of that, but it's so cool!! I could just make out the slightly darker color of the goosefish from the surrounding sand! I love how he demonstrates how camouflage is physical and behavioral. My son didn't recognize Jonathan with his beard. 😅
AH the beard phase!
I thought that I've seen all of your videos previously, but this one I missed some way. It was greatly entertaining. Thanks, guys!
My uncle had one of those, he wore it as a hat and fed it Mars bars.

New coming to this fall season of spongebob. Jonathan Bird guest stars in an episode.
That would be awesome!
The real question though, is how will they do it. Will he play as himself or will he be humanoid animal character, like they did to that actor that is famous for playing generals. Ha ha ha!
This video was so fun to watch!! I loved it man! You guys do phenomenal work!

:-)
That goosefish was amazing!!
They are so cool. My favorite fish.
@@BlueWorldTV I agree with you.
not an amusing title, but a very interesting well done segment.
In English, we have an expression called a "Wild Goose Chase" which is used to describe when you go and do something which ends up being a waste of time...so "Wild Goosefish Chase" is just a play on words for people familiar with the expression. Maybe not a good title though. Did ANYONE get it? I'm also surprised by the lack of comments on the Sponge Bob reference!
O mg almost 200K sub's!
Very close now! Only a few more days I hope!
Wow
Cool
Welcome to Johnathan blue world ;>
Hey Jonathan I live in England and I know very little about it's marine life could you do a video on the uk s marine life thanks
You man really enjoy your life
I am a little bit spooked by Mr. Goosefish, which is a shame, because he is fascinating!
0:23 THE HAMMERHEAD SAID HI!
Good
Mr. Bird, I've heard this phrase "If there's one thing I love, it's..." about a hundred million times from you by now😁. Is there a marine creature that you don't love?
I'm kidding of course. Your enthusiasm and excitement always make me laugh. Thank you.
I'm not super fond of box jellies!
@@BlueWorldTV That's something new to hear from you, Mr. Bird 😆
