    You guys should talk to the owners of the crystal gold mine in Kellogg Idaho. They have lots of stories and speculation about why the mine was closed. The short story is it was found by a man digging into what he thought was a natural spring, eventually he uncovered the entrance to a late 1800s mine. After the water subsided some he went into take a look and he found all sorts of old equipment including air pumps and several hand tools. They speculate that the mine flooded while it was in operation trapping some miners. There is a lower section that’s never been investigated further. I’m sure if y’all talked to them they would let you make a short film

  • @ohboy2118

    Seriously cool dive. The clouds of suspended material in the water was the type of image only nature could create.
    Has there been any study done on lead content in the water and repeated immersion in that environment? Thinking more about the diving guides than a one off dive with minimal skin area exposure.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory, the lead in the mine is mostly contained as ore in the rock, and it doesn't readily dissolve into water. It's the refined lead (and the refining process) that can more easily contaminate water.

    • @scubasteveandunderwaterroc3547
      @scubasteveandunderwaterroc3547 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I work in the mine as a guide. Lead is not soluble in water so what little lead in it just sinks to the bottom. Also within that most of the lead us in the form of Galena which is a sulfide of lead which essentially makes it biologically inert. This makes the water safe to drink for the most part.

    • @ohboy2118
