I've manage to acquire a wrecked Demon ...It's popular..Will have the deal done and car secured within 24 hours.I sent you a message on another platform that TH-cam won't let me write.
I'm glad that you got the down-pipes, the hoop at 8:10 does not go there behind the firewall, it goes inside the cockpit on the dash, it ties to the roll cage and yes the down pipes do connect to the hoop.
faster drive, you are dead on correct. That's how it was done on the Wildwood Mustang, the best Mustang build ever, in my opinion: th-cam.com/video/DV9mn0Ea81w/w-d-xo.html
I've got a 68 Mustang that's been sitting in my garage for 5 years. All original, no eng, un restored. Just waiting for me to get time to restomod it. Wasn't exactly sure how builder's would build the eng bay. I came across your channel yesterday and it's got to be the most in depth build I've ever seen. Absolutely love it. It's shown me the way. I've got a 6.4 Hemi that's going in mine. I've been a Dodge tech since 93. Never been a fan of the Ford engines, sorry guys. Thought a cam in Block forced air eng would make one hell of a ride.
Something that seems every channel like yours are overlooking is soundproofing... Since you have the car basically naked, it is the best time to install some material to make it quiet like a modern luxury car. I would absolutely love to see that!
Hmmm that’s a cool idea for sure. Didn’t think about it until you mentioned it and now I’m thinking that would be really cool to see. Just something different. Every “race car” I’ve been in has been extremely uncomfortable and so noisy. Would be like icing on the cake for sure.
This car is starting to find it’s identity and your seeing the finish product in your head before you build it. And that’s how a fabricator thinks 🧐 . Very proud of you 👍
I had problems with heat in the engine compartment of my truck do to the inter fenders not allowing the heat to flow out. you should make sure that you have ventilation on the side panels toward the firewall to allow air flow. This will help the system from overheating for sure. I put 3"holes just behind the shock towers down along the top of the frame.
Hell yes Ben, get Yuri in here, you know he's got the skills to pay the bills! I know you are a competent welder, but it would be sick to bring him in to help out. Always leverage the family skill base, you can't lose.
Vtuned it's looking good. For your safety check to see if you can get a 2 piece collapsible steering shaft,if you or someone hits anything and crush the front end,the steering wheel will crush the driver. Or is that built into the parts under the dash? Your build looks stout so maybe it won't be a issue. Dale Nickel Janesville Wisconsin
That's always an issue short of being in a tank. Doesn't matter if your car has a full frame with a roll cage, if you're driving on the street you should have a collapsable column. Unless you're always using a five point harness and putting it completely on any time you drive the car. What's the point of the car surviving the crash if the occupants don't? :)
Bro i think all these arm chair mechanics are hilarious. Worried about the weight of the motor. Thats hilarious bro. Them suckers can pound sand bro this will be sick
might be overkill but I would gusset and box the shock mounts to eliminate any flex, I know you are going to brace to upper tube but a little extra support will help
One thing many builders fail to do is design in a preferential fail point. AKA crumple zones. You need to pick a spot that won’t affect the structural rigidity of the frame and put a small bend crease cut or hole in it so that in the event of an accident that is where the failure will occur. This can do two things. Make repairs easier as you just need to cut off the bits in front of the fail point and keep things from finding their way into places you don’t want them like your torso and legs.
You seem to be putting a lot more fore thought into your fabrication and design on this front end. I think you're doing a great job on this project. Keep up the great work. God bless and stay well.
Looking good. One thing I do want too add though. Pants or a welding apron if your going to do more then 1 or 2 tack welds.. You only have so many layers of skin. Safety first
@@stangman1268 huh? did you say sumthin? I had my hearing checked by pros....they locked me in an old sound proof bank vault. (literally). they even sound proofed the areas where the wires went in. Bead rolling and strength 💪 also it is extending the level of a quality of a build. It will only take little time but would rather see bead rolled engine bay than slapped in metal, just my preference.....you are a artist 🎨 in what you do, show off ur Mastery.
There's a reason all modern cars have all kinds of body lines...they have thinned down the body steel so much they need it to keep from collapsing when a 4 yr old leans on it lol.
For future builds you might want to use a lazer to get your suspension and frame placements as accurate as possible. Pretty sinple to use and once in place you just line everything up all at once, example your A frame mounts done all at once.
Looking great Ben. One thought you could weld 2 or 3 triangular gussets to the back side of your “shock towers” down to the top of your frame. It should give you some added strength to the towers. I saw a comment too about a laser, sounds like a good idea as well. Keep up the good work!
Ben you need to use your safety goggles, also i hope you have sorted out some first aid equipment like an eyewash station and different types of fire extinguishers.
THose commenting on the weight: not to mention the engine being 100 lbs lighter, I'm going to guess the suspension components, aluminum rad and the fact that the engine is further back is going to negate any added weight. Not to mention any added weight will only make it a little more prone to over steer which a mustang is famous for anyways. Over steer is MUCH more desirable than understeer....
Ben, watching you 'box-in' the entire frame from firewall forward is making this the Mustang that would impress AutoCraft BOSS 428's!! In fact, this build is making the prior restorer look like the car was built at the 'Pray & Spray' body shop!!! LoL
I like the idea of adding another peice of steel that follows the support rail. Will give the engine bay a nice touch. Dimple would look awesome too. Keep up the great work
Add a front strut bar also to avoid any chewy movement with the welding of the frame and the plates, Nice work, impatient to see this one running Great job👍
Doing an excellent job car is going to look amazing. Please wear suitable eye protection when you cutting and grinding! I learned the hard way and had to have eye surgery twice to remove metal fragments.
The mustang is coming along nicely 👌, I agree to get Yuri to help with welding, there's nothing you guys can't do.. great job and cool video Ben thanks for the content.

Nice to see the Stang finally taking shape but I’m noticing that as you acquire more and more equipment and tools the shop is becoming a bit more cluttered, starting to look like the old shop. Maybe more storage in the future? But liking this build so far.

That hoop and 2 pipes are in the way of steering, and the brakes. Please widen the 'hoop' and put the inner bars outside the fender supports where they'll meet the rollcage. You were so close before you cut the inner fender walls around the shock tower instead of just cutting for the shock mounts and bending./It's Your party,do what you want..
Enjoying the progress, it interesting as I watch I find myself thinking you should do....and then you do it. I'm trying to be patient. Great fit and finish.
I love watching videos of you doing body work and frame straightening. I feel like this fabrication stuff is just not your thing. This seems like it is turning into the mess the Mustang Fastback was. I mean no offense and hope you prove me wrong. The square tubing, cheezy firewall and flat rough cut sheet metal is going to discourage you and I fear you will give up on this.
I tend to agree. It looks like a bridge too far to me. Probably better to work with OEM parts and modify them than to throw the baby out with the bath water and start from scratch making it up as he goes along. It looks ugly, heavy, structurally compromised and as others have said may have heat dissipation issues. I’m no engineer but would have tacked in the shock towers and trial fitted all the suspension components before fully welding it up. You can’t fault his ambition but I’m not sure it will end well?
Hey enjoying the build mate get a laser to help with lining everything up I'd also put plate under the tube to give strength and support instead of relying on just body metal also the welds on support pieces like those strut towers I'd do them in or only 2 to 3 inch sections not one continuous weld that way if it starts to crack it's only in one welded section not the full weld keep up the good work not many channels show there step by step progress
