Dude the stock Supra never emberrassed Ferraris, lets be real here. In their nostalgia a lot of people are comparing built and tuned MK4's to the stock MK5.
@TopCars TV Well, first off, an 830hp Ferrari is considered the baby Ferrari. Stock supras (MK4 and MK5) ain’t reaching that. The 90s were a different time. The MK5 is still relatively fast, but fanboys are shaming it because it uses bmw parts. The MK4 sourced parts from Yamaha, so that isn’t fully in house either.

@j 1 I disagree with part about e65, it wasn’t nice for a lot of people but it isn’t photogenic car, looks much better in reality, iDrive isn’t so complicated as it is said and when you look at comparison to other cars at that time it was way ahead as they tried to do something different, I would rather put e-class or s-class of that time at this list before e65, but it is all matter of taste here
I have decided that this channel is one of two things, a channel by someone who doesn't like, and doesn't know anything about cars, or a person who also doesn't give a shit about cars but is knowledgeable enough to produce automotive click bait.
BRUH the 400Z is a prototype/concept car, not a production car yet Many auto manufacturers made several concept cars with multiple phases (yes including the GT86 with 3 phases and LFA which had almost a decade of making it into a production car after several phases since 2001)
@@Hi-Capa_Gold_Watch The new supra has ~380hp and the old one has ~320hp lol what are you on about, also wing doesnt even matter, considering the A80 is a GT not a track oriented car, but a top speed straight road oriented car.
I think people in the comment section should check what disappointing means, let’s take a example from the video like the Gr Supra, yea it’s a awesome car and it’s very fun to drive but it was not what we wanted
I just don’t get why everyone hates the new supra? The supras have always been different between generations so why do people expect it to be the same as the old one?
I think most people don’t like how the Supra was made after the Z4. People wanted Toyota to make their own Supra. It doesn’t have to be the same thing as the old Supra but it doesn’t have to be a BMW.
A 2009 Citroen C4 Loeb is a pretty huge fail. It was supposed to be a model to celebrate Sebastian Loeb and how he managed to keep a 100% win rate on tarmac tracks in WRC with a C4 WRC. So what did they give us? A road legal WRC, 300 hp 2 litre engine and AWD? No. A turbo 1.6 litre which made less power than a naturally aspirated 2 litre VTS and it was still FWD. Fuck Citroen for never making any actual sporty roadcars
Outro part: Maserati Biturbo: due to it's boring sedan like styling and lousy build quality. Jaguar XJ220: because absence of four wheel drive and the V12 engine from the concept, and came in the twin turbocharged V6 engine and rear wheel drive only... Cadillac XLR: I'm not entirely sure about it's reason why it failed but it might be it's outrageous price tag and lackluster presence of quality and performance.
You are right. The. Maserati Biturbo was a competitor to the BMW M3 E30 but it was worse in every metric. The Jaguar XJ220 was an cool car but it had an V6 and rwd drivetrain instead of the promised V12 and awd drivetrain. The Cadillac XLR and XLR-V were based of the 2004 Chevrolet Corvette C6 but unlike the Chevy, both the XLR and XLR-V lacked performance quality and they were overpriced.
I understand that mk5 supra is disappointing, because there's a little amount of toyota in this car. But it's still great as a car, handles well, tunes well, looks well too(in my opinion). The new supra is just different. Moreover, the stock mk4 supra is underpowered gt car, whereas the mk5 supra is more of a precise machine to cut corners. And the last thing, did you seriously call Lexus LFA the new supra? LFA is the high-revving supercar, the piece of art, whereas the mk4 supra is just a nice sportcar.
@@paccin339 well, at the time when I got it, my need for a car outweighed a lot other things Especially the color of what my car is which is White and I'm not a fan of vehicles that they main exterior body color is White for a number of reasons
Because it had potential to go over 1000hp. Japanese car makers had a gentleman's agreement in the 90s, that no car will be over 300hp. So if you can't sell the power, you sell potential for it. All those top cars were over engineered to easily squeeze much more power and that was their main selling point.
@@TopCarsTV same with the current Supra. It's full of details where the manufacturers held back the engineering to keep the price low while putting it easy for tuners to do their thing and dial it up beyond 1000hp, add wings, open fake vents which have actual air channels, etc
@@TopCarsTV who told you that mk4 supra doesn't have a potential to go over 1000hp? Did you really think that people could juice out a 1000 or even a 800 hp after the car just came out? 2jz's started to push over 1000 hp after YEARS of experience about the engine. Same with mk5. And it already reaches 800 hp marks easily, imagine the future.
The only people the new Supra disappointed is the 2JZ fanboys lol. The B58 is making insane numbers with mods and, while it still hasn’t reached 1000 horses (which, let’s be honest, have no practical applications), there are already some B58 Supras around that reached the 900 mark.
To me it just looks too much like a futuristic GT86. High ride height, short length, small trunk small spoiler etc. The FT-1 was a little too futuristic but it looked pretty long. The rear was long but still shorter than the front like the MK4. It's a bit like after the E92 M3 the next M3 was the 1M coupe. The 1M is still a coupe bit it doesnt have that look that the M3 does. The MK4 supra did have a high ride height but it masked it with its front lip. The new supra doesnt do that so the front ends up looking high. It also has really small and even fake grilles. If they were bigger and still fake it would at least look beter and more aggressive. But it doesn't so it looks tamed
@@RyanRaiyyan look at the 2000gt and look at the mk5 back to back. It's sorta short for a reason plus the fact that nearly every car on the roads a long and monstrous boat so what's wrong with it being short? The ft1 was more or less not a concept for the supra anyway and was more in the lines the chassis that had later on form today's Lexus LC.
The Supra is defenetly *not* a let down. It may have some BMW parts but the truth is, Toyota did most of the tuning, the body, exhaust, chassis and a whole lot more. The B58 is exactly what a modern 2jz (3jz) would be. Just a simple 3L i6 turbo. It performs very well around tracks and functions great as a daily driver. Just because the GTR and NSX evolved into _Supercars_ doesn't mean that the A90 doesn't have any Supra essence. It truly lives up to the Supra name wich stands for a fun, tuner friendly sportscar wich has plenty of power but will offer a lot more, *if you desire* . It sounds amazing and looks great aswell. Just because the internet tells you to hate it doesn't mean you have to. It has all the Supra spirit it needs to be a true Supra and that's all that matters. If you don't like it because you just aren't into that kind of vehicle or are not a fan of it at all that's OK but if you're against it because the internet hates on it cause of the BMW components than that's just unfair. The Huracan also has a different manufacturer engine but is still considered a lamborghini. Thanks for coming to my presentation
Same with the McLaren F1. It’s kinda confusing when people hate on the Supra for having like 5 stock BMW parts on it but then a car with an entire BMW engine is seen as a legend
@@Digi_FX well. The Supra does have a full BMW engine. They could have build a 3JZ but that posed a to big of a risk. If the Supra wouldn't sell with a Toyota build engine the company is at risk. So they rather went safe over making the internet happy. But the F1 is a legend and the most timeless and beautiful car ever
@@idknils2920 I agree with your opinion on the F1. I’m not a massive fan of the F1, but I respect it. The thing I was trying to say was the fact that if a car has a different brand engine that shouldn’t mean that it’s 100 percent the brand that made the engine.
I inherited my dad's '16 Mitsubishi Mirage. It was the worst car I've ever driven. It's tiny tires looked like they belonged on wheelbarrows. Braking and handling were subpar even for a cheap car. The three cylinder engine was truly pathetic. Plus it was built in Thailand, which saved Japan from a lot of embarrassment. On the plus side, it got almost 40mpg and could hold a surprising amount of cargo...as long as it didn't need to get somewhere fast.
You are camparing heavily modified supras to a stock supra against a Porsche... I'm not saying the new supra isn't slightly disappointing but at least do a fair comparison
@@TopCarsTV 320 hp of the murican MK4 GTE vs 316 hp of the 348 GTB, with the 348 being 70kg (161 lbs) lighter, and thus having better power to weight ratio, way lower mass point while the supra is longer, thinner and higher, while also having way worse suspension. multiple things that negatively effect the performance on circuits
@@arthurvandersterren4145 the fact that we are comparing mk4 Supra with Ferrari of the time, and we are not doing the same today supports my argument 😉

The MK5 Supra ain’t that disappointing, the first 3 gens were kinda boring. The MK4 was like Messi and CR7, it got us used to exceptional and we got way too high hopes for anyone who dared replace them. Plus, apparently, Toyota could be working with the Supra to put a 2JZ under the hood
The new Defender is definitely a letdown. First of all it doesn't remotely look like the old Defender. Second, it isn't what a Defender is supposed to be. A Defender is supposed to be a barebones cheap rugged off-roader that farmers can afford to carry shit. The new one is just another luxury 4X4 like the Evoque. They turned the most rugged and tough car Britain produced into a soccer mom mobile
I don't mind that the new Supra is smaller than the old one at all; performance-wise it is quite capable and sits well with its predecessors. I'll even overlook the silly fake vents. What I feel lets it down is the soft, comfort-oriented GT setup it inherits from the Z4. Make it firm. Give it responsive steering with lots of feedback. A manual gearbox would be nice too.
The Mustang Mach E is number 1 most disappointing creation in existence currently, but may lose the most disappointing podium to the new Dodge EV SRT and it’s super cheesy engine sound simulator. The new supra just looks like a Miata, old Supra was such a sexy car!
The 488 ( gtb) is a fantastic car - but the f 8 as well ! The 488 is now 5 years old - so why not refresh the look and make it look better? After that period it is just normal to do so - if u are into cars, you will know that that is quite charekteristic for Ferrari... In my opinion the f8 is the logical next step. A car that looks more sporty and agressive, but quite elegant as well. It s gorgous .
What I am saying is that the sf90 stradale looks more like the 458/488/f8 type. It doesnt look like the proper full-fledged supercar laferrrai ever did. Despite having 1000 hp
You lost me when you called LFA a Supra, LFA is an engineering genius greatness and proper high end car. Supra is a tuner car, those are different classes of cars.
I think 1) f8 tributo is one of the most beautiful ferraris ever made 2) supra is perfect in looks the only thing wrong is tail lights they don't look anything closely related to the word "supra" 3) I am a die hard Bangle fan But that 7 series is ugliest BMW ever 4) Speed tail interior is awsome
Mk5 Supra is a BMW. Not a real Japanese car, imagine being black or white and naming your child a “Japanese name” does that make them Japanese? No it doesn’t. Does wearing Japanese cultural style clothes make you Japanese? No. Hell the Dodge Steath built in Nagoya,Japan based on the 3000gt is more JDM than the MK5 BMW Supra that is build in Germany. I remember when people protested the Stealth being a pace car at the Indianapolis 500, because it was a Japanese build car with a “American company name on it” “Dodge”.
McLaren SpeedTail isn’t ugly it’s trying to be aerodynamicly beautiful but it isn’t a let down at all in my mind And FINALLY *THE JAG XJ220 IS A GREAT SUPERCAR WITH AN OUTDATED ENGINE THAT THEY MADE BETTER*
The Engine wasn't outdated, it was actually the engine from the MG Metro 6R4 Gr.B rally car, in N/A form it made over 400 HP. It was later sent to TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) for the installation of the turbochargers
You really expected the new Supra to be a 1500HP Ferrari killer out of the box, didn´t you? Taste is something individual, but like the Tacan the MK5 looks damn good! Have you ever seen an MK4 and MK5 next to each other? I like the MK4, no question about it, but I´d take an MK5 over it any time.

@@ryanmcclellan7347 So the Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, etc are "bmw z4s" cause they have the same ZF8 Speed Transmission from that is used in the Supra MK5 and BMW Z4 (G29 Generation)? Also, the B58 in the Supra MK5 A90-J29 is its own exclusive B58 inline 6.
The mclaren is good looking in my opinion and I’m gonna have to go against the top speed argument. I think mclaren could make a car that reaches 280+ but thats not their goal possibly. I think the goal is simply remake the f1 in a modern form, not reinvent the speed industry like it did in 1992
Nobody said it isn't a good car in it's own right, if Toyota had called it the Toyota Storm it would got nothing but rave reviews. The problem is that they tacked the Supra name onto it to try and boost sales and that causes problems because it has to be judged as a Supra not just a car, and quite simply it cannot life up to the badge, it's a great car, but a bad Supra. This is especially problematic as Supra fans have been waiting eight years in the hope of seeing a new Supra while watching GTR/NSX fans get new models, then Toyota offer up a subpar BMW with a body kit, the disappointment/anger among the community is 100% justified.

The 2j is almost 30 years old at this point. It would be more expensive to modify it to comply with modern emissions regulations than building a completely new engine. Both something Toyota just doesn't have the money for
The Chrysler Crossfire should've been on this list. The concept was the badass V8 sports car but the production model was a slow v6 with just 205 horsepower.
It's sad to see what car manufacturers in Japan have become. They had gold in their backyards, but surrendered completely to Americans and Europeans way. Sad times. And please bring back pop-up headlights.
They took them away because they broke a lot. Have you ever seen a corvette or a Miata with only one pop up headlight up that is not showing off? Though you would make a good point, only if pop ups worked well.
The Simca 1100Ti should have the strongest claim to the title of the first ‘Hot Hatch’, all with 84hp, in 1974. It was followed by the Golf GTi in 1975.
I am surprised that the Mach-E isn't on there. What true Mustang fan is going to be okay with the "Mustang" badge when it's just a crossover SUV only meant to attract middle aged soccer moms who drive 55 in the fast lane.
I personally think I8 looks bad. The front is pretty good but the back looks like a really ugly frog or something like that. And power output really isn't great especially. Engine sound lacks soul too.
Even though millionaires who put them on order were disappointed, I absolutely love the Jaguar XJ220! It was the fastest car in the world(for about 5 mins) with a V6! And the styling is super car perfection! !! I do however agree with everything else on the list.
I owned a mk4 GLI which was the sedan counterpart of the GTI. The model I got had the rarer 2.8l VR6 engine which pumped out around 200 HP and around the same lb/ft of torque. It had wheel hop and some issues with understeer when pushed but I thought it was a good car.
Ur not alone what he said about the f8 and especially the supra hurt. I am a supra fanboy for life no matter what and it hurt to listen and how he said the f8 was ugly hurt too same with the speedtail and xj220
The funny thing is he said the mk4 supra was destroying other drag cars, but the gr supra has more power than the mk4. The mk4 stock was slow, the only reason why the supra was fast was engine swapping
Although the supra isn’t my style, the engine is anything but soft. Its 382 “German” horsepower which is always underrated, is extremely tuner friendly, and maybe a bit heavier than it should be. Which sounds a lot like the Supra’s of old. people should get over the German part.
When you said, "If I would have designed the F8 Tributo it would have looked a lot cleaner and more elegant" I was like, here we go, another guy who thinks he can do better But when you showed the render, I was like No, No he's got a point
It may be dissapointing cars, but theyre stll works of art, i mean, it has an engine and 4 tires, thats already enough. And its not about looks, its all about performance
The Supra was never a sportscar so why should it be now? it has the most bulletproof modern engine that i know of (exept an ls or hemi) and even if its shorter and lost its wing they kept its line. And with the taycan... dude, check every concept car and compare it to its release model.. its always loosing its smoothness. Also things like mirrors are nessesary if you didnt know. For the Golf MK IV you dont need to bring in the point of it getting heavier. Every Golf got heavier with each generation exept the golf 7, and its also not dissapointing since its one of the most liked golfs in germany. The F8 also just looks more agressive, in other brands it would be a different edition or facelift and saying its dissapointing because it doesnt have no real place in the roaster is like saying a person is boring because he hasnt a useful job....
The Supra was JDM monster like Nissan GTR. Because of gentleman's agreement to keep the power under 300hp, selling potential for tuning was the next best thing. That's why these cars had internals that could take so much more. Once the agreement ended GTR and NSX were pushed to supercar territory, and Supra stayed with the lesser sports cars. Dissapointing. Cars often do change from concept to production, but there is no need to widen Tycan's mouth and headlights intakes. Every little change they did to it made it look worse, even when there was no need for that. (probably) Volkswagen Golf IV GTI was criticized by their own boss as not being a true GTI. Even this owner didn't like it in the stock form: th-cam.com/video/u08PQqctXdM/w-d-xo.html F8 isn't boring, it is exhilirating, but F8 is yet another iteration of 458 and because of its sudden announcement and identical performance numbers, it completely stole the spotlight off the 488 Pista.
People forget that a stock MK4 Supra wasn't a super car slayer lol. Now that months have passed the MK5 Supra has a lot more tuning options and can reach high hp numbers
Yeah, that overbuilt iron block that gets people sooo hard about the theoretical 15 billion hp tune or whatever just weighed the stock car down. The Supra was almost as heavy as the R34, and that thing had an also cast-iron block *and* all-wheel-drive.
There were almost no super cars back then. Today they are numerous. It still beat most other cars in its horsepower range/class. And with literally just a $1 in modification it would completely annihilate them. With a few K for upgraded turbos, it would put super cars to shame, because it would be faster at only a fraction of the cost. And it was much more reliable than any sportscar back then. Even when heavily tuned. Your BMW will never be as reliable, which is sad, but typical for BMWs.
6:16 I agree with you stype. The f8 tributo doesn't look good. I still prefer the 488 over the f8. And I prefer f12 berlinetta over the 812. #bringbackpininfarina
You are insane. I am 6 months in to my Supra , and you need to pay attention to what is going on with the B58.. 1000 HP with stock head gasket , bearings and cam... a stock mk4 supra is not even a rival for a cayman! Why do people think the supra mk4 stock is like 1000hp, it has 200 to like 320 hp!

The new supra isn't meant to be a mk4 supra. It's it's own car. The mk4 isn't like the mk3. What's so wrong with the looks of the new one?
Basically a z4 nevermind mk4😂
The Huracan also has a different manufacturer engine but is still considered a lamborghini.

easy, its called opinions
@@JPT_Jpt yep

In my opinion, it looks like a modernized CERV III
The Simca 1100Ti should have the strongest claim to the title of the first ‘Hot Hatch’, all with 84hp, in 1974. It was followed by the Golf GTi in 1975.
...and don't forget the Alfasud Ti -in that spirit ;-)
I am surprised that the Mach-E isn't on there. What true Mustang fan is going to be okay with the "Mustang" badge when it's just a crossover SUV only meant to attract middle aged soccer moms who drive 55 in the fast lane.
i agree it doesnt look like a proper mustang, my favorite mustang is the 2006 one, but this is just dissapointing
but when this video was released i dont think the mach-e existed yet
It wouldn't be there, cause no one expected "E" to be something good.
The i8 was disappointing it looked like a spaceship but I had the power of a rumba
*Roomba, but I absolutely agree with you about that
I personally think I8 looks bad. The front is pretty good but the back looks like a really ugly frog or something like that. And power output really isn't great especially. Engine sound lacks soul too.
that thing look like a dualsense
I agree with you
Even though millionaires who put them on order were disappointed, I absolutely love the Jaguar XJ220! It was the fastest car in the world(for about 5 mins) with a V6! And the styling is super car perfection! !! I do however agree with everything else on the list.
V6 master race
Toyota can’t even put their microwave chime in the supra it literally uses a 2016 bmw chime seriously
And the 7 series sucks literally they ruined their flagship car
In my opinion, the new Dodge Charger EV is a big disappointment
I owned a mk4 GLI which was the sedan counterpart of the GTI. The model I got had the rarer 2.8l VR6 engine which pumped out around 200 HP and around the same lb/ft of torque. It had wheel hop and some issues with understeer when pushed but I thought it was a good car.
Is it just me who sees the GR Supra and the F8 as beautiful?
Ur not alone what he said about the f8 and especially the supra hurt. I am a supra fanboy for life no matter what and it hurt to listen and how he said the f8 was ugly hurt too same with the speedtail and xj220
Fun fact: Mitsubishi Mirage is called Mitsubishi Space Star in Europe 😁(my mom got 1 and the sound of the 3 cyl engine is not that bad!)
Car enthusiast first started complaining about cars like the 911 getting too big and heavy, now the supra is too small and it's a disappointment?
The funny thing is he said the mk4 supra was destroying other drag cars, but the gr supra has more power than the mk4. The mk4 stock was slow, the only reason why the supra was fast was engine swapping
Not gonna lie the new Supra is beautiful, BUT I DONT WANT A BMW
The Ferrari F8 Tributo/Spider is not Disappointing... it's just boring compared to the 458.
I can agree with that, that is also my friend's favorite car.
Hey don't disrespect the taycan!,It looks so beautiful man...
Although the supra isn’t my style, the engine is anything but soft. Its 382 “German” horsepower which is always underrated, is extremely tuner friendly, and maybe a bit heavier than it should be. Which sounds a lot like the Supra’s of old. people should get over the German part.
2:12 that's what she said
When you said, "If I would have designed the F8 Tributo it would have looked a lot cleaner and more elegant"
I was like, here we go, another guy who thinks he can do better
But when you showed the render, I was like
No, No he's got a point
The black roof top is sexy
Prowler should have had a Hemi with a 6-speed.
The hemi wasn't revived in 1998 yet and didn't last until the hemi was revived for the 2000s
*Magnum
(probably)
Volkswagen Golf IV GTI was criticized by their own boss as not being a true GTI. Even this owner didn't like it in the stock form: th-cam.com/video/u08PQqctXdM/w-d-xo.html
F8 isn't boring, it is exhilirating, but F8 is yet another iteration of 458 and because of its sudden announcement and identical performance numbers, it completely stole the spotlight off the 488 Pista.
@@TopCarsTV - "Dissapointing." - nope. Besides, the US sales of the A80 (just barely 11,000 units) tell a lot.
People forget that a stock MK4 Supra wasn't a super car slayer lol. Now that months have passed the MK5 Supra has a lot more tuning options and can reach high hp numbers
The stock MK4 was kinda shit.

I agree with you stype.
The f8 tributo doesn't look good. I still prefer the 488 over the f8.
And I prefer f12 berlinetta over the 812.
#bringbackpininfarina
@rockn roll Okay. I agree.
0:52, the black 80s Camaro parked in the grass beside that 'douche' is much more desirable than the Prowler indeed.
The supra engine or otherwise known as the B58 is a brilliant motor easily reaching 700+ horsepower on stock internals
You are insane. I am 6 months in to my Supra , and you need to pay attention to what is going on with the B58.. 1000 HP with stock head gasket , bearings and cam... I only have the flash tune so far, and the car is fast. I will give you, i am ordering the retro hoop , and having it body matched over carbon , cause it just looks so much better with one.
You have a Supra? So sick!

If Mitsubishi don’t want to sell anything but ugly looking SUVs and a little 90s looking hatchback called the Mirage then they should change the company name to Shitsubishi
