Compared to other channels you're so clear it's becoming annoying because all I can do is watch you I don't know what the f*** anybody else is on about🤣🤣🤣🏴🥰😍🤩
Brother Andy I would argue his His thoughts are off the mark, but he’s pointed in the right direction. Your comments are the ramblings of someone who thinks they understand the process, but you muddy it up with a lot of intellectual Mumbo- jumbo.
Professional actor take the key words, feelings in scripts while amateur claim and memorizes the scripts... Listen, process, react and respond that is super... I love the class
When I read a script I focus more of my attention on what’s going on around the words. Not only the words. If you get the sense of the scene and what’s going on around the words and the words will just come to you
When an actor says a line that's not word-for-word what was written in the script, that's probably the way it should be said. When the script writer writes the lines, he's looking at words on a screen. When the actor says them, he's interacting with someone.
I’m not sure it’s as clear cut as that. I write and act. As I writer, I’m acting out the dialogue. I also created the characters, so I know what they’re thinking and feeling. When I’m acting, I respect the fact that writers - usually far more experienced than me - have spent far longer crafting every aspect of a script than I have reading and working on it. So generally, with a decent script, if an actor finds themself saying something different to what’s written, it tends to reflect that they haven’t discovered the character quite as well as they need to, yet. But it really does depend on the script - we’ve all read terrible scripts, so I can understand why an actor would choose different words in that case.
Well good! With my 5 yrs of acting experience. I see good and bad acting anytime. A good actor will OWN the Character. Emotional, physically etc. What I find helpfull is ready other others actors parts before your lines. It helps to set the mood and tone of your Character. Then read your lines plain a few times. Then read your lines with emotions a few times. Change your tone and pitch some. You will slowly become the Character. There is magical number to say its perfect now. DON'T TRY TO HARD IT WILL LOOK FAKE!
Me : * got the main part in the kids version of We Will Rock You* Also me: I will just have a look at my script Me 1 hour later: OMG I know all of my lines and I know how to do it!!! When I go into rehearsal:: forgets all of my lines and how I was saying
I'm an amateur stand up comedian and I have found that making cue cards with one or two words to help jog my memory helps me to memorize my routine. I have to use tricks like that because I have a poor short term memory, so have to practice my lines often in order for my lines to go into long term memory.
This is just what I was looking for! Thanks for the advice in the video! I'm not a paid actor yet, but I am in community theater and I have shows over the weekend. I've been thinking for a while how I can perform my lines better and this will help me!
Communication Has feeling Giving the words meaning Making the blank come alive 1. Reason to talk- put thought feelings to give communications depth 2. React- to formalte a response
No. Memorizing will happen naturally if you're present in the moment and keep exploring choices by taking the script off the page. Never memorize! If you practice taking the lines off the page the memorizing happens on its own. Harold Guskin - How To Stop Acting
Learn your cues as well as your lines. I worked on one show where one of the actors didn't know his cues, so the other actors couldn't afford to pause while delivering their lines otherwise this guy would assume it was his turn and start saying his lines.
I love this, it was super helpful!! I tend to struggle with communication, in general, so I like the option acting gives of learning how to communicate in different situations, without serious consequences. Anxiety is... a special... thing. On a side note, who else noticed the typo at 0:43? "Bigglest" 😂
don’t try . I know that seems stupid but seriously don’t . Create a feeling within your self before the scene; know your lines inside out so you don’t have to think and just go and let it be what it will be .
I came here today to hope to be able to learn some steps on how to read my script for the Audtion I have for disney.. Im audition with a scirpt (specific from my age group) about Pepsi. I have to act and try to sell the Pepsi.
Hi Kurt, Do you have a cheat scene to break down a scene. I know you have one for an audition, but what about after you book a TV show or movie? Thanks.
Honestly it's the same thing. An audition scene and a scene from a full script are the same. If you have the full script, you just have more information at your disposal to inform your choices.
I know many professional actor's who improve the majority of the lines in the script and it works great for the final product of the film. Jim Carrey is a big example of this technique.
Thank you, this was most interesting. I just got my first supporting roll for a feature audio film (COVID). I’m so excited so this helped me look at the script differently. My question is when am I aloud to talk about it or put it on my resume? Do I wait until we wrap the film? Also, when I’m responding to an audition on Backstage and they tell us it’s best to submit quickly, how will I memorize my character when I have to submit it so quickly? Is it ok to read it for the audition? Thank in advance.
Great questions! As long as you didn't sign an NDA, I think it's fine to add it to your resume immediately. I wouldn't add myself to the IMDb page of the film though because that is public facing so I let production handle that. As for the backstage auditions, my goal is to submit the audition as early as I can as long as I've given myself enough time to put the necessary work into it. I'm not going to submit early just for the sake of submitting early. That being said, you need to practice the skill of working on your auditions quickly. Get to the point where you can memorize any script under 10 pages in 48 hours. The majority of my auditions have about a 48 hour turnaround and I am almost always memorized.
@@ActingCareerCenter oh thank you! Keep your videos coming, I look forward to them. They are clear and to the point, I never get bored. I’m so proud of you.... maybe I will c u on set one day! 👍🏻👍🏻😎

I am assuming that by approaching the script this way, an actor comes to memorize the lines of the characters he or she is reacting/responding to as well as their own lines? I make the choices for the persona my character is responding to as well? I think you are talking about working over the play whilst alone without a partner….? Thank you for posting such great content. It is very helpful to me.
If I do stand-in work do you think it’s incentive for an agent. I get to practice lines in rehearsal as second team I’ve stood in for three characters and Lauren graham was impressed but the second season just ended & I’m out of work again till today
You see we are doing acting for a play and we have to say what exactly is on the script and i would look at the script and i dont like it so I try to communicate with thwe audaince without trying to realy on too much of the script but the teacher says I cant do that. I need to say what is on the script no matter how dumb it is. How can i over come this?

In the most basic form communication deals with coding and transmitting a message that is later received and decoded.

You, as the actor, can make the choice of how to feel.
