  • In this tutorial I'll be going through the different types of boolean tools within the part & part design workbenches!
    I was meant to upload this video last weekend, but was unhappy with the finish, so I spent the week changing and re-recording!
    I know there's a little issue with white noise/background noise, so this week I've added some music/elevator music...nothing overpowering, so let me know what you think? I've read that it can potentially enhance the video...but we shall see! 😂
    I also forgot to have my cursor highlighted, so I'll make sure I do that next video!
    This will be my final video for 2020, so I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your support these past weeks! I've had an awesome time, and hopefully we can continue this through 2021 and beyond! 😁
    Thank you for taking the time to watch my video, I really appreciate it! Have an awesome weekend! :)

    Well that all made sense. Just need time to practice so will have to watch again, pausing each step as I practice. You are an excellent instructor. Thank you very much. Jim

    Thanks for another excellent tutorial video and for all the others of 2020. FreeCAD is becomming a really good 3D tool and it's videos like these that help it become adopted by more and more new comers to OpenSource as serious software. Well Done Andrew, have a good Christmas let's hope 21 is good to us all.

    The "cleaner piece of geometry" is useful when 3D printing, as it will print across those areas joined, instead of treating them as separate areas to print individually, yielding a stronger part.

    Lots of interesting details. You're meticulous. :-)
    I encounter strange issue. I don't know if I made some error or is it FreeCad fault.
    03:20 Part Design, Cube & Cylinder.
    I resized cylinder to be bigger than cube and transformed it by lowering cylinder.
    Then i set cylinder as active body and made a cut.
    My intention was to create a cavity in the cylinder with a floor and a ceiling.
    but when I press Boolean operation, the cube moves down, so both figures are on the same level.
    Is there a way to prevent this behaviour?
    P.S Hope I made myself clear. English is not my first language.

    I see Mr.CAD-Andy has the thumbs for this video are constrained upwards in the YZ-plane, which is a great strategy for healthy and sustainable CAD-activity. Good job mate!
    Ima' suggest some too;
    If possible, to ease that thunderous space-bar you could isolate either your mic or keyboard from your table mechanically. There are some mic-stands/mounts on Thingiverse that could do the job, just search for "microphone shock mount". But to be honest, I'd rather see you doing a DIY-project with a video where you sort of "solve the problem" with FreeCAD and print it and presenting the challanges and solutions. I'd be glad to assist if that's an idea you're into. :)

    • @AndrewCAD
      @AndrewCAD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kid you not, when editing the video, the space bar thuds made me close my eyes and wonder how I hit it so hard! 😂 that sounds like a great idea Jonne! I'll do a bit of research and see what I can find! 😁

      @@AndrewCAD Awesome! Btw, what kind of a mic are you using?

    • @AndrewCAD
      @AndrewCAD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonneneva4372 I'm using the Blue Yeti microphone. I've had a quick browse of a few designs for the shock mount, it might not work for the mic I have, but I'm sure theres a work around! 😁

    Your videos are very good and precise.
    Some of us do not have very good vision. The pointer is VERY small and move so fast it just disappear at times for us.
    Would it be possible for you to increase the pointer size and to a red color.
    Thanks a lot

    sigh I am still dabling in 123d design but its very unstable so I thought lets try free cad and wow what a lot of options. a little old school but more power but I manged to crash it right away so thats disapointing. mybe i should try blender

      Crashing is fine. Freecad works great if one realises the mistake. Tricky at first.

    Is there a process by which one could donate a meager amount to your channel. I don't typically do such but your videos are easily worth much more than I have to offer on a fixed retirees income. I would like to help what I can a time or two maybe...
