    It sure looks amazing. I really like the door hardware. I feel the shed back faces south and would love to see a long skinny window to let light inside. I know - go buy property and build a shed - LOL. You'll probably put a few solar panels up to charge a Bluetti EB55 to run some light inside. There you saved some money from all that extra framing. Thanks for sharing

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Lou. A window reduces wall space and therefor storage space so we opted to do without.

    Great job! How much did you spend in materials? (I’m considering building one but think it might just be easier (and maybe cheaper) to buy a prebuilt one.)

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  ปีที่แล้ว

      We spent between $3k and $4k. Not sure exactly. You most likely can find something as big or bigger for a similar amount. Check the framing on pre-built ones and see what the stud distance is. Some skimp and do 24" on center. Ours is 16" on center just like a house would be.

  • @salembeeman370
    @salembeeman370 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It looks like you live in an area with snow. Are you concerned the pitch of your roof is not steep enough? Also, did you end up using drip edger on the roof? looks like you started then took it off. So fun watching you love birds work together. I love my wife but she wouldn't come outside in the yard to put me out if I was on fire!

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  ปีที่แล้ว

      The shed survived the heavy snow from last winter just fine. In fact, we came up in late December and the roof was completely clear. We ended up using a different trim piece for the edge of the roof. We do have a drip edge at the bottom. Great questions.

    Looks great! I'm curious to know if you are willing to share.. What was the DIY cost? It would be useful to other homesteaders to know so they have an estimate to compare to pre-built shed costs of similar size.

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great point. I'm not sure we really kept track of all the receipts though. My gut tells me we didn't save anything, but we also built it sturdier I believe with things like 2x6 rafters, and studs at 16" on center.

    How much you estimated and how much it went? Now I am sure it will be much expensive

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We didn't estimate the cost because what we really wanted was to do the work ourselves and relearn our building skills for the bigger Barndo project. I think the cost was about on par with what it would have cost to buy a prebuilt, but we also know ours is built stronger and better.

    cost?

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately I didn't really track my costs and I don't know that I really saved much over buying a premade shed, but our goal was to do it ourselves so we could brush up on our building skills. Lumber prices were high at the time and I'm guessing it was around $4k

    • @MountainBeaches
      @MountainBeaches  ปีที่แล้ว

      We wanted it to be movable just in case, and in hindsight that was the right decision as our builder will be moving it next week to get it out of the way for our barndo build and all the equipment he'll be brining up to the property.
