It's so interesting that some clues I get straight away that NL struggles with (temper, E.g.). Then there's ones NL gets immediately and i have no idea

Pfff, the skill floor on that is insane. Watching someone who is kinda good at them solve them is great. Watching someone who doesn't have any experience struggle through it is mostly painful, and not in a "HE CANNOT DIE, HE HAS TO FART" way.

He needs to train up first. He’ll hopefully learn soon the clue tricks: if the clue is plural the answer is plural, tenses match, pet of speech match, question marks mean puns or miss directs, etc. not to mention rebuses.

I’ve exhaustedly watched so much of NLs last 6 months of content that YT kept recommending me this and I’m pretty danm satisfied. Excited that there’s a whole playlist of VOD crossword content to get through

NY Times crosswords have weird clues but they usually have to do with the theme of the puzzle which is hinted to in the title. Usually you don’t know what it is until you’ve solved a bit of the puzzle. I’ve been doing every Sunday and I have to say some of them are actual architectural feats.

I'm actually amazed by how much you can learn about someone from how they write a crossword. The last author in specific.
Crossword questions make literally no sense in my brain, I would do them if I could understand them
At some point you just gotta do one and google the crossword dictionary, you'll start recognizing the way some questions are phrased and put it together
it tends to be one of those things where you have to start thinking like the person who makes the crossword to do them well. so if you don't have much in common with the maker of the crossword a lot is lost in translation.
But yes, I agree with you, a lot of crosswords just don't click with me, but others I have zero problems with.

Honestly some amazing content. I didn't think I'd like it as much but watching someone else logically figure out a crossword is probably one of the most entertaining things I've seen.
He knows more trivia than I could have the patience or ambition to learn
Just watching him miss temper for the chocolate hint in the second one for so long hurts. Temper leads to apnea. I wouldn't have gotten past that probably though, so still better than I.

Honestly, I don't remember ever pogging as much as I did when he mentioned Steve Suptic rat king himself.
Having a lot more fun watching this than I expected. It's gives a surprising amount of insight into Egg's thought process (vast knowledge, especially culturally, but somewhat rigid and not great with abstracts), and it's also interesting to see how U.S. crosswords work. Where I live, you'll never see separate words as one-word answers, e.g. "TRYINGTIMES", "THENSA", or "MAKESOUT".

NL is so good at crosswords because it lets him make vertical and horizontal moves at the same time
