This song is a new all-time high. It's absolutely amazing. Instant classic on the first listen. I've been a fan of Northlane and Karnivool since their debut albums. Northlane is the most consistent band of the past decade. Cheers.
nah. no idea what you are listening on there but it's actually quite bass light, speaking as an audio engineer of 15 years, sure the guitars are tuned low and its got 'attitude' but in terms of frequencies they've captured on record its not bass heavy at all. The floor tom is the lowest thing this track, lower than the actual bass or kick drums which is not a good thing for a track in C#, they could have definitely had the bass be the lowest frequency no problem. Very bad job imo (for bass at least, the record as a whole is balanced fine I suppose) compared to modern Korn, Spiritbox, or literally any dance record this is the opposite of a bass heavy mix/master.
@@BuzzaB77 Completely agreed. The verses in particular feel very empty, despite there being a lot going on. Chorus is definitely mixed differently.. I guess they thought taking out a lot of the low-end in the verses, would make the chorus bigger when it returns, but for me, eh, it just doesn't work too well. There are better ways of accomplishing that punch, and making the chorus sound big and full, without sacrificing other parts of the song. Guitar tones are a little too metallic for me too, but not a dealbreaker. Love the song, just wish it was mixed a bit better.
This is node, Alien and themata all together making love, absolute favorite song since talking heads Also really love that they are not doing the 20 sec of the song where the guess vocals does his thing, Ian is all over the song, a bit like Deftones - passenger with maynard, it was a good decision to do it that way!
Northlane is everything we all hoped Linkin Park was going to turn out to be and i mean that with the upmost respect. Every track they get better and better 🔥
Its ONLY because LinkinPark came out when they did. And Northlane talks more about world issues and shit you could only achieve with mushrooms and acid. LP was more of the 90's anger and angst.@metalheadblues
Fellas...you've found the epitome of your sound. Between this and Miasma, it's perfection. Heavy low tuned guitars with the groove but also the atmosphere open chords during the chorus, Jon has finally found his perfect voice for synths (some of Obsidian was over the top i.e. the second half of Xen), and the song just drives!!!
Northlane with Ian Kenny is a dream collab! Never imagined their voices would sound so well together, and the atmosphere of the song is simply mesmerising! Somebody, please, make an instrumental! I want to sing this so badly!
Epic track from Australia’s finest metal band. Hearing Ian’s voice on this makes me crave a new Karnivool album. Please get your shit together Karnivool!
I remember first discovering Karnivool years ago when their former bassist Alex wore a Karnivool windbreaker during an interview. They quickly became one of my favorites. Crazy full circle moment for Northlane to have Ian in a song.
I have deadass been waiting for a new Karnivool album since the last 7 years. After 'All It Takes' it's so nice to hear Ian's voice again, and that too with one of my favourite bands. Incredible times.
It's my favorite song of them with bloodline. The atmosphere and the FX on the guitar adds so much texture, I'm losing my words. I love this band so much!
this is so good. i accidentally realized it was karnivool after only listening on spotify radio when i went 'this reminds me karnivool' and well. guess i was right LOL
I found the mix better with headphones. The vocals seem to be drowned out by the guitar when playing through speakers. Maybe it's just my speakers idk lol.
Anybody who is on here complaining about the mix only thing that I honestly feel needs to be brought up is the drums everything else is amazing and hearing both Marcus and Ian on the same song is bliss!!!
This just confirms that Karnivool needs to get on their heavy shit again, because hearing Ian Kenny with djent behind him is The Sauce.
I'd settle with them just getting on their shit again. It's been over 10 years lads!
for real, any shit at this point will do! i miss me some 'vool@@SolipsisStudios

Feels like old Tesseract. Really like this track.

Second time: Well, not fucking bad, gives me chills
Third: PIECES OF MEEEEEEEEEE

well my phrase for the 3rd phase would probably be I CAN't ignore the afTERIMAAAAGE!!!

I’m on second listen, but after reading this comment I’m pretty much on 3. Thanks for the time travel.
Uhhh hundred percent accurate 😂 the bass is so gnarly

Studio Engineer : How much Bass do you want ?
Jonathon Deiley : Yes
The perfect amount 👌
Not if it distorts everything else. It sounds great if you turn off any bass boosts

Absolutely. That's how they did it on Miasma, where Winston McCall and Marcus work together. Their production game is at its peak.

as someone who has never listened to Northlane at all, hearing it on triple J last night I was blown away
Omg please listen to Ohm, Veridian, paragon, Savage, Solar, Impulse, Carbonized, Plenty, Xenical, Animate
All top tier bangers by these giants
Highly recommend them. In my opinion their entire discography is fire and their older stuff was ahead of it's time. New stuff is definitely a vibe.
Ian Kenny absolutely SLAYS this song, I’ve had it on repeat for the last 24 hours.

Marcus has one of the best clean vocals in the game, along w/ Jesse from ERRA. And both are releasing new albums this year.
