The point of the Tiguan Allspace is not to have seven people aboard the whole time, rather it’s a nice-to-have feature in case your kids want their friends to come along as well.
If I had to drive this pointless brick for that reason, I'd tell my kids' friends to take a hike, literally.

Exactly JFCW, this is how I use it and it works briliantly. I was quite sceptical before buying, but really enjoying it now I have it :-)

I don’t know why more cars don’t have the picnic trays on the back of the seat and pop out of the dash or console in todays world. So handy for so many things to keep kids busy or even adults :)

Simon Vuille I love my German cars but it cannot be denied that Volvos are the safest cars ever made, therefore calling them shit is kind of inappropriate

Luxury cars won’t come with 5-7 seaters. Even the Range Rover Autobiography comes with 4 seaters for most comfort. This feel rather like fishes in a tin.

The third row of seats isn't the only reason you might want this car. 30cm more length can be useful in a variety of circumstances.

Thanks for the detailed review. I do agree with most of your critics. However, i do have one question to ask yoy. So what car do you recommend instead? I cant think of any alternative for tiguan. Nissan Rogue is good but the powertrain and infotainment system lacks compare to tiguan. CRV and Rav4 i personally dont think they can compete with tiguan. The only car that i can think of is volvo xc 40 but its way more expensive than tiguan. I think tiguan is still the best everyday vehicle for the price and its design. Let me know if I'm missing any other vehicle!

@@wocaomade you can't get 3 car seats across in either an XC40 or an XC60. Tiguan is tight width wise but the base is just perfectly flat, which helps so much.

In China, the Tiguan ALLSPACE is named Tiguan L, and it only have 5 seats... If you want a 7-seater, go with the atlas (which seems to be unavailable in UK...)

Great review as always 👍🏼 Love Matts take on cars 😆 BTW, my Golf requires you to put the wipers in "service mode" to either change the wipers or wash the windscreen. That way the wipers stay nice and low and pretty much out of sight when driving, which is a plus 👍🏼😊
The lower trim Tiguans look low rent. Higher trims & R Line models look much better especially with the LED headlights
Agree. I haven't seen such low trim on the road so far....and I have seen hundreds of Tiguans.
That storage lid on the dashboard just doesn't want to close lol
The wiper service position shouldn't be a surprise - VW has used it since 2004.
Could you do a spec for spec comparison of the Tiguan allspace, skoda kodiaq and the seat tarraco to see which is best value

My father often gets these as rentals when he's traveling for work. Usually a top spec model. Not the Allspace though, just the regular one. He only drives himself in Canada though

3:36 my 2015 Kia Soul has this feature. But it has another regular boot light on the other side. The side with the torch is LED and the other isn't. I have diagnosed OCD and this drives me bloody mad

Just test drove one. The steering is not particularly sharp at all, and it is more numb than a dead horse. And the suspension is surprisingly choppy at higher speeds. Wind and tyre noise pick up above 100kph.

It would be awesome if you could take the third and middle row seats out and then have a lower boot floor allowing for the ability to sleep in it.

Well I do have it since March 2019 as full equipped 190PS TDI (except leather, 3rd row and 20" wheels, but anything else) and I do have to say it is great - especially regarding space!
But I came from 15 years of A4 Avant and... it is no Audi, but that is ok now...

I just bought a 2021. Man I’ve owned 2 GTIs. How cool would it be with a manual. I’m in the US of A. It is cool though.
Fact is, if you wanted a people carrier, just get a people carrier. The other day I was in a R grade Tiguan. It looks like it’s got the bells and whistles but actually it’s very plastic and crude.

That storage lid that's on top of the dashboard refused to close....a bit of a lol moment...maybe.

I think that the full digital guages look cheap to me. I like analog guages more and it's more reliable.

You can get tray tables on a Tiguan?! We definitely don't get that in the U.S. Nothing but the most expensive luxury cars have seat back tables here. Do you guys get the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot there and do they have tables?

Just some feedback I thought I'd post @carwow. Firstly for the 5 annoying/cool features section, I preferred the usual transitions rather than the new motional transition (was hard for me to focus and gave me a slight headache). Secondly, when Mat says there's a cigarette lighter/electric volt socket, why do you/he always stick his finger directly into it? Is it safe to do so? Thank you for reading. 🙂
