Zwift and commuting was my saviour when my two kids were born/young. A quick interval session or race on Zwift when they napped and being able to jump on the bike whenever was great. Plus only being in the garage reduced the stress completely, especially with two kids under 3. Dad cycling is difficult but very rewarding.
I have been using my commute the last couple of weeks, which has been good but getting out at 5 in the cold/dark hasn’t been easy 😅 I have been tempted to sign back up to zwift but I looked last night and I can’t seem to sign up for races which is annoying! Jumping on zwift is definitely easier than getting out… but definitely takes a lot more motivation to suffer on the turbo 😂
I did exactly the same as you , drill drill drill , have a kid , weights weights weights . After years of being weak it just feels good to be strong and it gives you that exercise buzz , for what feels like hardly any effort and crucially time
Yep I have found I can get a good gym session in 45 mins with no prep. Where as all the getting ready to ride etc and then only a short ride felt a bit pointless but hopefully I can find a good balance
Good to hear you more positive about bike training again Giorgio. The bicep thing is just a fad you'll get over soon enough 😅 Do you have the Giant Power Pro power meter on the TCR?
😂 it’s the wife’s fault she keeps complimenting me so I keep training them 😂 I don’t I’m actually running the garmin rally mtb pedals as I had a pair from an old bike so just put them on, they do the job but I’m thinking of getting a different power meter so I can put road pedals back on 🤔
Good man Giorgio, good to see you're back training! I put SKS Race Blade Pro XL's on every year around September to keep me dry. They're not a full length guard but it protects enough to keep comfortable on training spins while keeping the bike relatively clean. Plus they can be removed or installed in about a minute when needed.
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling decent length mudguards make such a huge difference in the wet, even when it's not actually raining. I feared that you might suspend your 'cross racing and the videos, which would have been a real shame. This channel is entertaining but also your content is the best 'grassroots' CX videos I've come across and definitely deserve a bigger audience. You showed BC how to cover the CX Nationals too, that was superb. 👏 I may be wide of the mark here but I really don't think you can blame the 15kg weight gain on your biceps. It's nice to have some upper body definition but that dad bod isn't all muscle. I'd suggest that diet discipline is where you will make the gains. I know the early days can be hard, it feels really tough at the time but hang in there, it doesn't last long, I promise. Stick with it, keep training but it should be fun, don't make it a burden, skip a session if it's not working. Hoping to see you move up the results again soon and get to enjoy your racing more.
Forgot to mention this: I prefer the SKS Bluemels mudguards (available in different widths). They are long enough, sturdy and the mounting struts are solid and well adjustable. I'd avoid mudguards with plastic adjusters for the struts (after getting frustrated with them...).
Yikes. You young lads make me feel like an awful Dad: I only *started* bike racing when we had our baby. Made myself tired enough to sleep through anything 😴 🤣🤣🤣 Good luck with the training block 💪🏻
Love this, welcome to the the 6am or not at all training club. 😊. Good to see you crushing it again.

great content ,
Don’t forget the Zone 2 to get the aerobic base up!
It took me 20 years to come back to training after my twins were born. Don't wait that long...trust me.
🙌
Good to see you motivated again. Have fun at the race tomorrow!
Love the video good luck in your race x
Such a sweet story about your first nights with the baby. That's a good daddy!
It was a nightmare 😂

First thing in the morning seems to be my best bet at the moment, as long as Ava keeps sleeping well 🤞😂
If you want overshoes then spatz are the only ones to get, they're basically wetsuits for your feet
I will take a look at them 🙌

Sweet I will take a look! My main thing is trying to keep the bike as clean as possible this winter so I don’t have to clean it so much 😂
@GiorgioCoppolaCycling Delboy in early retirement? 😂

Perfect I will take a look, just want to try and keep some of the mud off my bike so I don’t have to clean it so much 😂
