Here's an out of box kit review of the 1/500 scale Into Darkness U.S.S. Enterprise by Revell Germany. I'm excited about building this one and will be using the new Tenacontrols lighting kit and the aztec paint masks to apply the pearlescent panels to this model from Orbital_Drydock :)
Hi boyd. I just want to say thank you again for all the advice and the great videos. I noticed you used future on your refit model and just wanted to give you a heads up that they changed the label yet again. It no longer says future on it. It is now called pledge floor care multi surface finish. It is still the same formula.
That looks like a kick ass kit, Boyd. It is puzzling how the parts for the secondary hull are much thinner than the primary hull and the warp engines; a good way to fix that would be to mix up some liquid styrofoam to help support the engines' pylons. I got that idea from an earlier issue of Finscale Modeler magazine, which did an article on how to make vacuformed Trek models stronger and more durable.
TOS 1701 is coming along nicely. As far as the J.J. Prize goes I see this kit for the more advanced modeler. Take into account all the rigidity you'll need to re-enforce the secondary hall as well as the pylon supports, a very thin wiring harness, the general smaller size of the model, aftermarket add-on's and well... it's a lot of work. As for me I'll wait for another version to come out in the States sooner or later. I know you'll be able to tackle this head on & achieve exceptional results.
Thank you Boyd for the review of the "JJ-Prise." Looking at the parts for this and the Revell TOS-E I'm working on I am convinced Revell are going to issue a lighting kit of their own for these kits. On the JJ-Prise there are two bulkheads on sprue D that, like similar ones in the TOS kit are perfectly sized to hold a 9 volt battery accessible through the deflector housing parts. I wonder will the lighting kit be a separate issue as per Round2, or a "deluxe" re-issue with the plastic..?
Really looking forward to seeing what you can do with this kit. Weird that the kit itself is not freely available in your neck of the woods as you are literally falling over them in the model shops of Glasgow and they retail at £29:99 which I think is about $20:00 or as near as!
Great to see more TOS Enterprise work from you! Your last two were fantastic works of art and can't wait to see the work done on this kit! As for the JJPrise, I love the design. It's a great cross on the TOS and the Refit, and fits the 21st Century new trek fan, as well as throws back to the original for long-time fans as well. The lighting kit that's out there for it looks great, esp. the nav/strobe lighting. Is the client for the TOS kit wanting the motorized bussards, or the aftermarket?
Hey Boyd. Thanks for the box review. I actually purchased two of these off of Ebay, and only received one of them. It was a huge battle with who I bought them from, but in the end my second one is on it's way. I bought mine early on, so I got them at a very reasonable price. Also, I had asked Rob over at Acreation Models, and he will be making aztec decals for this model. It looks like it is well detailed, but just tooo flimsy.
Hi Jack! I still think you guys across the pond are having to pay over the odds for what I thought would be a freely available kit. No matter what though that man Boyd will make it look spectacular as always!
OOPS! Got the currency conversion the wrong way round Jack. Either way it's still a pretty expensive kit for you guys over there when you see how cheap it is in the UK.
the parallel circuit have feature to share the same tension on every parralel but have different intesity of current beside serial circuit have different tesion on every element but same intesity of current ,as said in the Ohm law V (tension) = R (resintence) * I (Intensity of Current) 1/R * V = 1/R * R * I I = V/R
£29:99 is around $40 US ---not $20 US. Check eBay periodically. You will find one there already in the States but be prepared to spend $85 - $120 US plus shipping. If you do buy overseas and when all has been said and done, expect it to be around the same in US dollars. Boyd is right, this model is very hotly priced in the US. The worse news is that Revell is highly unlikely going to sell this here because of mercantile rights are expensive in the US. And Round 2 isn't interested.

I cant wait to get the 1/500 scale JJprise, looks like a fun build,

I, an old time Trekker, agrees wholeheartedly! It's time for a new generation to create their own Trek!
Great review on the JJ Prise. I am very surprise on how thin the engine pylons are on this kit.
Really looking forward to seeing what you can do with this kit.

Great review Boyd! Cant wait to see your progress!
Thank you for the review of the JJ-prise kit. I've been anxious to see one!

hope you do a build up video, i have one and am slowly working out the lighting
Yes it does, I got mine from them, can't wait to build it.

Thanks for your hard work and advise always a great help
where do you get or how to make your own star trek starfleet names registeries and starfleet markings what decal making program do you use
This will be a different build. Not a fan of the ship, but will be nice to see the build up. Im sure you will do it up right.
will polar light any thing be JJ Prise Kit trekwork
What were the refit differences?
Let me guess amazon.uk won't ship to the states?
Deflector dish is closer to hull and triangular warp plasma catalysators (or something) are longer with four stripes and the neck of ship is thinner.
OOPS!
Got the currency conversion the wrong way round Jack. Either way it's still a pretty expensive kit for you guys over there when you see how cheap it is in the UK.
Nice! ---lucky Canadians!

V (tension) = R (resintence) * I (Intensity of Current)
1/R * V = 1/R * R * I
I = V/R
why, just wondering, whats specifically wrong with it?
can use water slide decal paper & use Photoshop or some other image editing program.

OOPS! ---back at yuh. Then Google is wrong. Just checked it again as in Google "28 gbp to usd." Doubt that they are wrong.
Jealous!!
