Boyd & others, I am not sure if you noticed in the movie the J.J.prise doesn't have the usual red and green strobe lights to indicate starboard and port. I kind of noticed while watching the movie and the trailers/tv spots.
i have the same problem on the front of the secondary hull and you will find Revell designed this kit to take a 9V battery behind the dish as a 9v battery fits into those bulkheads, I am lighting mine and using a magnetic switch on it. also i will be running a usb cable through the stand that i can plug the ship into a connector whilst on the stand.
This is going to be another great build! Even though I'm not a great fan of the JJ-prise design. The neck and engineering hull just looks wrong... Speaking of which, I think with the bulkheads installed and all the parts together the structure should stiffen up nicely. "Full power to the Structural Integrity Field Mr. Scott!"
Hi Boyd I wondered weather you would show the wiring to the switches and mains on this one when finished, cant wait to get started on the ship, still on the maquis fighter at the moment but its looking pritty good, was going to do a video on it but got carried away an forgot all about it lol
Nice, very nice! I always wished that the boys and girls at Quantum Mechanics would do a DIY kit of this Enterprise instead of all builds being pre-built for $7,000! 36 inches of this ship on a display shelf with the Into Darkness soundtrack and a few of Khan's lines playing in the background would really be cool. I'm still hoping the price drops some for this kit, but if not, either way, I will have one! Keep building!
I glued my B/C deck into the inside of the saucer, and the parts fit perfectly. Has the model/instructions been updated since your video was produced? Gaining so many tips from your build, fantastic work mate!
got an easy way to get the counter rotation on the fan blades ive got the bussard spinner from tana con now im going to drill a small hole of my micro motor and if the tana is spinning clockwise ill make the fan blade motor spin counter clockwise should be a good effect ill keep ya'll posted =)
I was given this model for Christmas, and it scares me. I enjoy airfix models, but have never painted them, just applied decals, and I have never attempted anything on this scale, and I want to do it justice. I think the aztec stuff is what worries me the most, though I am wondering if it will look ok without?
Nice video. I own this modell now too but im struggling with one huge problem: the drooping of the nacelles. Has anyone found a way to straighten the pylons?
Excellent! I was worried that the kit being Europe only would be too niche for the American guys to worry about. If it does and depending on the accuracy then I'll take the plunge on the board, I can get that kit for around £20 so $30 so I might be able to justify $100 on the board. If it's not quite accurate then I might as well not, though.
Existe este modelo de nave en escala 1/350 como las otras naves Vogager, enterprises A enterprises B yenterprises E o no ya que de este de los nuevos solo veo escala 1/500
hi I don't have access to custom aztek patterns. If a spray a coat of grey primer does the original aztec pattern still show through? otherwise I guess I'd need to paint without the primer layer?
U do great work Boyd awesome, but I have noticed something. the way you are putting the top bridge sections together is wrong, if you notice your stacking the sections on top of each other that's why your getting the big gap, your supposed to put them inside each other like u did with the bottom they over lap and stack inside each other to help with light leaks. Been building models for over 45 years, ill help u out any way I can. Please don't be offended I just like helping =)
Nope. The plastic for the D-7 and TOS Enterprise is very high quality and thick. I would think this kit is the same. Revell Germany kits are way nicer than our Revell models.
Is it just me, or does the plastic of that model look really thin and flimsy? I havent bought Revell/Monogram kits in a long time, but I remember the last one i bought (USS Voyager) was made of some real sturdy, thick plastic.
I have to admit, I really don't like the JJprise. It's just an ugly ship. And I know if I had to build it I myself would turn the nacelle caps from blue to either orange or red. As to me the blue always looked stupid. Even the 1701-C, -D and -E had the caps glowing red. The blue on this dentaprise, looked as out of place as the blue glowing cap on the 1701-B. They made no sense. That part of the ship, with the exception of the refit always had the cap glowing orange or red to show the heat of the collector. Yet if it's blue then it's burning cold not hot which shows it put of place. Then again it never made sense that they went back to the glowing cap when the ships of the refit era had screen vents with no glow. Why would they go back to nacelles that did?
Glad to see Boyd is finally having a change of heart for starship design. By the time this is over he will be a JJPrise lover after all!!!
I really enjoy watching your builds Boyd, nice neat clean and very well explained.
Have been so looking forward to watching what you do with this kit.
I am looking forward to see her come together! With you at the helm, I am sure it will look great!
The torpedo part on the secondary hull is the same on mine. cool to see how you are positioning the lights as i am working on that atm
The B/C deck and the spine didn't align because you put the B/C deck on top of the saucer instead of underneath like the instructions said
I believe so. Will soon see as the kit is on it's way.
Very beautiful video 🖖😀👍
Great review, thanks for pointing out the flaws. I have two of these kits, going to build one in white and the second a grey colour like the box art.

You are right. I caught it when I placed the last part of the bridge on the saucer top. It looked too high. got right now.

I can't wait to see this one finished!
Looking good my friend, don't know if you know this, but thoes bulkheads form an interior cradle, that is designed to fit a 9 volt battery

I had heard that and it is said maybe Revell is going to produce a lighting kit for it?

looking nice so far on the jj prise
Gundam models have connector pins like that, makes them quite the challenge to paint.
This is why reading the instructions first is important 😅
The Boyd Void. A nice place to hang out.

Revell Germany do very fine models, this is the same thickness as their huge uboat models.
I was given this model for Christmas, and it scares me. This is a Revell kit, not Airfix. It actually goes together really well. I've built it twice and both times were easy
yes it does, the only thing I don't like about it is the impulse I don't like it flickering don't seem right
Nice video. I own this modell now too but im struggling with one huge problem: the drooping of the nacelles. Has anyone found a way to straighten the pylons?
Does the tenacontrols board do the correct double flash strobe?
What sort of battery (or batteries) will you use to light such a project? What's your power source?
Any particular reason you primed it in grey?
irridescent as oppose to pearl, i need to look into this.
is that part of the CC range?
Excellent!

what color you used for the interior to isolate the lights?
cultTVman has them he has the aztek and lighting kits for it as well
hey trekworks...just a quick question. how do you light the front of the saucers so awesomely to make it look like flood lights hitting the saucer?
very cool.
Is this the Revell Model Kit - STAR TREK into Darkness - USS Enterprise NCC 1701 - 04882? Where do you buy the light kits?

If you mean the grid panels, yes they will show through a coat of primer.
+TrekWorks Thanks for that. I wish Revell would just include aztec decal masks in the box. Things would be so much easier.

Where did u order the kit from
Are you still building kits for clients
Do you sell the completed models?
1/500th scale? Given the official 725 meter length, that model should be almost 5 feet long!
and that would be easy to bring back in a box wouldn't it ;)
Party Pete
Well, perhaps multiple boxes sir.

Not my favorite ship, but it's still cool.
Nice!!! :)
Ditto! Ditto! Ditto!
I've seen the price, I think I'll give this a pass. Postage is a killer as well.
