I really hope Polar Lights gives us a larger version of this ship! That would be EPIC!! This design, although disputed by some, is absolutely stunning and my second favorite next to the Refit Enterprise! And you, sir, are doing an absolutely fantastic job showing just how wonderful this ship can look! Can't wait to see the Aztec pattern on this one! Keep building!!!
Cool. Thanks Boyd. I'd love to see you cover wiring overall - showing how you normally connect it all together. Keep up the good work with the channel! :)
The reason I don't use dental acrylic is that you have to put it in before assembly of the model. And afterword all of the windows have to be masked for painting. I have found that using Krystal Clear or Canopy glue at the very end to fill in the windows works very well and saves time and materials.
Jesse, in simple terms a 1/4 watt 470 ohm resistor on each LED you connect should be fine for a 9 - 12 volt power source. I use standard AC to DC power supplies to power the model when finished. Otherwise known as a wall wart. Sort of like a phone charger. Look up wall wart to find them. I prefer to use ones with at least a 1000 milliamp rating (1 amp). They are available with set voltage rating or adjustable with a switch to go from 3 volts to 12 volts. I run most circuits at 9 volts.
Freaking Awesome, Boyd! Looking forward again for my build but I have quite a few in the pipeline already --- BTW, your Tenacontrols are working great! It's interesting that what ever build you do, much can be adapted and transferred to other versions of the Enterprise. Looking forward to seeing your stuff on Amazing Plastic on Google+
Because it makes it easier to differentiate between the versions. Like TOS was retroactively titled TOS, Transformers, where Generation 1 was retroactively called G1, and the Michael Bay movies are called Bayformers, Nu-Who vs Classic Who, etc.
Coming along great Boyd. I love this ship. I can't understand why people have named this ship "J.J. Prise? Know matter who directed the film, it's still the Enterprise in my opinion. I really like the lighting effect for the bussards, that looks sweet, as well as how you drilled out the impulse grills. Nice job.
U ever use dental acrylic Boyd? its awesome for filling in stuff for lighting I for min from a pace called Burman industries u have to buy a can of the monomer and the dental acrylic polymer (clear) the stuff is awesome
Hi Boyd. I'm a UK 1st timer making the Into Darkness Enterprise. Your vids on this build have been very helpful. My question is the spine piece on top of saucer is proving awkward. I've dremeled out the slits. Did u light this section if so using what and did you make window's for it?
Can anyone tell me where to find (good) info on wiring LEDs for models? I've been looking through your videos, Boyd, but I can't find one where you talk in depth about series vs. parallel, what kind of resistors to use, and what that thing is on your bench that powers the lights and tells you what the circuit is drawing, as well as what permanent power supply you put in the models. I'm trying to plan out a circuit... but not quite confident enough to pull it off yet.
Hiya, I am really tempted to buy this kit as its only £25:00 over here but I can't find anybody over here that does the lighting kit. How much was the lighting kit you got etc. hope you don't mind me asking. This will be the first kit I will have made since I was about 12 years old
Hi, your model looks perfectly! I have seen all of your videos about building USS Enterprise by Revell (into darkness). Good work and result is really nice. I would like to ask you if you know - is some lightnig set for this model kit available in Europa? I tryed to find any, but I wasn´t succesful. Thank you for respond.
also you can Buy lighten kits for most AMt/ERAL/Reveal Model kits just goggle XXX model Light kits and you will find links info inc.. sorry Boyd I did not want to step on your Toes you do AMAZING work, followed you from Steve Neil another good model builder I myself am a low rank nobody that admires the Model Gods..* bows with respect*
Hey, thanks for answer me, I´m building the Revell 1/500 Scale Into Darkness U.S.S. Enterprise. Can you send me if it´s possible the list with the components that you used in this model? Here in Sao Paulo Brazil is very difficult to find, but i will try. Thank you for help Dimmy
Hi, I would like to know if you can send me a website where i can buy the light kit to my vessel because i live in Sao Paulo Brazil thanks for your help
dimmy jay Which ship are you building? There are not many light kits out there that are for a specific model besides the Enterprise Refit. You will most always have to buy the components and create your own lighting arrangement in the models.
Hi, TrekWorks i need if it´s possible a help from you because i live in Sao Paulo Brazil and i don´t know Where or What buy to let my Enterprise like yours, can you send me a relation of materials that i need and if you have some websites address where i can buy and recive here in Sao Paulo Brazil. Thank you for your help.

Love that you are building this kit, now I will have a reference for mine! She's looking great.
Boyd, watching your builds is such a pleasure. Informative and inspiring.

Brilliant work! The impulse engines look terrific man, great job.
I find myself straining to listen to Dark Side of the Moon in the background. lol
Model looks good so far.
a trick: you can watch movies on flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Boden Keaton Definitely, I've been watching on Flixzone for since november myself :D
Nice mod on the impulse engines. Looking good.
Nice, very nice. Look's like a smooth build.
Yes I either use a low temp glue gun or sometimes some CA glue with a bit of kicker.

Love the pink floyd in the background
Nice bit of Floyd in the background Boyd!
It's hollow brass tube. They sell it in different sizes at the hobby shops and craft stores.

Looks great man!
Have you come up with a way to reinforce the pillions?
will polar light have USS enterprise model this year or next year in USA from star trek Into Darkness
I'm doing this one, without the lights but with a Pearlescent Aztec paint job instead of the norm.

Where can I get the aztec sheets or aztec decals as I am new to all this thanks

Agreed, they don't call the Enterprise E the "Frakes-prise"...
Good taste in music XD
I love Pink Floyd, I grew up on them, Queen, the Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and all of those kinds of bands.
Do you use a low temp hot glue for your internal wiring?
Thank you for the tips!

Good Taste playing some Floyd :)
I'm also hoping someone releases accurate primary hull markings. The NCC-1701 is WAY off.
where do you get the rod for the base that holds the ship?
Looks good!
Boyd what size LEDS are you using for the strobe lights please mate..
Another great build up vid Boyd.
You mention using an SMD for the floods, where do you get them from?

1.8 mm LED's
first view nice work.
Hi Boyd! Can you let me know what type of leds you used for the impulse engines please - flickering or other. Thanks
+Iain Hamilton They were standard 5 mm Red LED's as I recall.
Cheers Boyd!Just curious as they seemed to pulsate.
+Iain Hamilton Ah yes, that is the control board making that effect.
