I think Pangina could definitely come back to an all winners series considering it won't be named "all winners" but im pretty sure "superstars", so im hoping for Bendela and possibly Shangela. But it'd be funny if Blu and Pangina was back on the same season.
the “fans” behavior this season felt more disgusting and vile than ever. i didn’t agree with a lot of the eliminations, but that absolutely didn’t affect my feelings towards any of the queens. if a reality tv show is making u so upset to the point where u have to send death threats, get help. the level of hate these queens have gotten from playing the game is just ridiculous. i just want to celebrate the queens and not constantly complain about the outcome :/
@@ISaidLetLoose absolutely, i love both pangina and jimbo but jimbos fans especially have gone way too far with the hate. another thing that bothers me about her fans is that she can get away with being shady and the excuse is that she’s “just joking” while if a POC queen did the same, they’d be ripped to shreds
i think its coming from somewhere else. ive felt and expressed misplaced anger lately over things like the dont say gay bill, book bannings, the texas bill about trans kids parents getting child abuse charges...and now russia is acting real wild and we're all on edge i think. at least to this american, it feels like the queer community could lose everything. it makes something that should be light, like drag race, very charged. this is our REPRESENTATION youre talking about. idk just a thought.
I think the “if your not in the top your in the bottom” ordeal was put there after snatch game to give Blu and Baga the option to NOT eliminate a front runner, but they both went for it anyway 😂
I think in the future we'll regard this as an AS1 for the international franchises. The experimental nature of this season was very evident even though production really tried to play it safe with the format and challenges. However, I do think production will be taking notes and I certainly expect improvements on a second season
I think the shortness of the season was the biggest flaw. 2 more episodes would’ve made it seem less all stars 1, budget, than living up to the grand queen of universe title. Plus the alleged riggery for baga at start. I’m glad we got her snatch game though. Why couldn’t they of done snatch game sooner. Jimbo had a good original season one. Jujubee coasting by when this is queen of universe, wasn’t entertaining either but at least she was in bottom.
@@msvenuscrane What I personally would have changed about the season is making the variety show a non-elimination episode and I would have added a returning queens episode at top 5. Of course we'd need more challenges so I'd add an acting challenge and a make-over episode. This way the season's stakes are raised, it gets a total episode count of 8 or 9 episodes, there is more variety in the challenges and we get at least 3/4 episodes with the first out
Much like All Stars 1, this feels more like an experiment than an actual event. Here's hoping if they do a second season, they take the time to learn and improve things and make a truly iconic season like All Stars 2
@shiny_boi_cammi That's not true. Taking advantage of someone on their one (and possibly only) low point in the competition and kicking them out, doesn't mean that when the final comes you'll be competing against the best. This format rewards mediocrity, and it ends up becoming, as this season perfectly proves, a race to the damn middle.
@@tyagirodriguez4947 I think from an audience pov it makes the season boring to send home the best queens, however I don’t like the expectation to never send home the top queen, they’re in the bottom for a reason and like Naomi said “life’s not fair”
@@ev1802 I agree with what you're saying, but I also think those gaggy moments do also happen "naturally", look at Valentina, or Shea in the S9 finale, even Ongina on S1. I think placing the blame on the queens is ridiculous, and the format rewards mediocrity and strategy over talent, when it's supposed to be mostly about talent
I think the worst part is the wasted talent. I’m happy for Blu and her win but I feel as if they wasted the other girls potential on a real all stars. I really want to see lemon again.
Blu, Pangina and Jimbo were really the true highlights of the season for me. Lemon went out too soon, Cheryl didn’t get her redemption and I didn’t really care for the UK vs US final. Blu was a worthy winner though and I’m happy for her. Pangina’s follower gain is so crazy I’m glad she was such a fan favourite.
@@elvangulley3210 What in the world are you talking about? I never once slighted Mo at all in my comment or said she was undeserving of the win. Grow up.
Unfair judging was a thing too. I hated how certain queens (especially the UK and US queens) were saved way too often. If you do the top two lipsync thing, let the judging be fair and don't save queens when they don't deserve saving.
@@ianinasio Oh absolutely Baga. I think with the exception of snatch game I would have placed her a spot below each of her placements. But honestly though I can't think of an example of the US or other UK queens getting saved (or even being placed above where they likely should be).
@@thetexican98 Juju was saved on episode 1 despite a terrible runway and a boring performance that was dubbed over. Mo, as much as i love her, was also saved from the bottom on episode 1 with that horrible performance (literally hurt my ears) and her runway was good, but if a runway could save a queen pangina and jimbo shouldn't have been up for elimination.
yeah not the exact same as farrah moan, but she did have a performance where she didn't fall at all and another where she did. kind of makes me feel they should just film these performances once just like the lip sync for your lives, but even with those they edit them to how they want the audience to view them and not just show us everything that actually happened
@@kevinmooniscute669 I heard in Farrah's case though the second performance was after the fall and was not fully in it like she was before the fall. If that's the case the editing might have helped her.
The stakes just weren't there, and I'm not convinced that this is solely due to the lack of prize money. It gave me very Holislay Spectacular, oddly enough. It felt like most of the queens were going through the motions and didn't really care, so I didn't either.
I just want to know why they didn’t have an episode to bring back one or more eliminated queens?! This would have been the perfect season to do it since front runners were actually eliminated early. Just imagine if they had a Lalaparooza the episode after Pangina was eliminated! They could have brought back Lemon, Cheryl and Pangina! Or they could have even spun it to bring back Jimbo if it was a comedy twist instead (cause we all know she wouldn’t have stood a chance lip syncing). The returning queens episode for All Stars 2 was iconic because they brought back queens who actually stood a chance in the competition. And I can’t help but think that a returning queens episode for this season could have been just as iconic.
Agree! This season is actually same with AS2 queens eliminating successful queen like Alyssa but what they did is they continued doing it and didnt do anything to make it enticing. So in short, its a MEH!!!
Not only did the US/UK girls have more allies, there was literally no judging representation other than US and UK. This automatically creates bias whether intentional or not.
I feel bad for jujubee because i honestly think at this point she had no where to go but down. She had already slayed all stars and then done another show and I think it was just oversaturation. If she had done the international all stars season 2 maybe, but right away after queen of the universe was a recipe for disaster
Juju doesn't have a choice. If you watch anything about World of Wonder's contracts, you know that RuPaul and WoW basically own these performers and can summon them back to be on a show and they *have* to go. The only way to get out is to make yourself a bigger liability to the brand than an asset, like Willam. Willam is a smart cookie and realized this from the start. Juju has very little say over what shows she is on.
@@SaraLovelace1 Bullshit. Aja, Valentina, Shea, Nina Bonina Brown, Adore, Laganja etc all declined before with no trouble. Juju's issue is oversaturation and her not wanting to improve her "mall" aesthetic.
@@zaldigr863 Eh Juju's issue was that she lost two out of three designers right before the show so they had to scramble with her third designer to get everything done.
@@c.k.8585 Girl, even with AS5, her mall aesthetic was still there and she only turned it out for the finale outfit as well. She's just not improving her aesthetic and her comedy isn't getting any better (she didn't do good in SG and that should've been her highlight)
I feel like the AS voting system works... for AS, NOT for international seasons If everyone was from the same franchise, Jimbo and Pangina's eliminations would've been shocking but that would be it. Instead here what we got was a UK vs US finale and that's quite underwhelming for a season focused on being international. Pangina's elimination would've been a slap, the revenge, and that would've shocking but... it. Instead eliminating Pangina after she eliminated Jimbo wasn't just sending home the 2 strongest competitors, it was also sending home the international aspect of the season (Not hating on UK and US queens at all but y'all know what I mean, they are the main franchises)
Totally. With regular AS the queens all know each other, on the same level, whereas with UKvTW we had queens competing solely to represent their country with no pre-established connections, so of course alliances between the UK, US and even Canadian queens would happen. This led to a season in which we got a finale with mediocre queens from two countries that were saved for alliances, rather than a Top 4 of queens from each country who did the best.
In regards to the nasty shit people said about Juju, like you were saying, you can be a legend in drag and not excel on drag race (and she's already excelled THREE TIMES no less). The SAT's tests you on how good you can take that test, not how smart you are, and Drag Race is fundamentally the same way if you sub out test for show and smart for how good of a drag queen you are.
Janey being sent home hurt since I was so proud of her representing my country, but I think her attitude describes all: the tops have the power to do what they want, and she wasn't upset or held a grudge about her being sent home. I just wish the fandom realized that too...
I think it should've been filmed a lot later, so there could've been some more franchises out to add to the variety. Imagine if we had a Down Under girl and an España girl in the mix too, like Anita Wig'lit and Arantxa Castilla La Mancha - they'd give us some great TV and really fit into the competition well too I think. I definitely think the season was too short too, 8 episodes would work a lot better as it would give us a variety on the challenges. A proper acting challenge, and a makeover would be ideal there cos it's two things we didn't really get to see.
I also noticed this season they were not playing fair whatsoever. It was clear from the start that all the tough competition would be removed, esp with Lemon/Pangina's eliminations. This format did not help and neither did it save queens on a good run for the season.
I think something people don't think about is how much harder it must be to make comedy to Pangina and Janey in a second language. I speak English as a second language and I wouldn't be able to make as much jokes as I could in my first language.
I think people forget that the series isn’t produced for “the world” while it is broadcast to “the world” due to Wow Presents Plus it is a actually a BBC produced show predominantly for a UK audience. So when it’s shown - while annoying that it’s overlapping with other series in terms of the BBC it fits with their schedule, it launched BBC3 back on TV instead of being an online only channel. So Tuesday nights it was as that fitted best for the BBC and it’s broadcasting needs. And in terms of money - it’s a reality show and that’s a no in terms of cash prizes for the BBC. It would have to switch to another channel. But that’s no guarantee - Great British Bake Off switched from BBC1 to Channel 4 meant a prize could be offered but they still decided to not go down that route. There is a certain prestige about the show being on the national broadcasters channel - no other country has that.
The lack of prize money is so shady! I had a feeling from the beginning that the main reason (or one of the main reasons) they hosted the show in the UK is because the BBC won't allow prize money to be given for a TV show- conveniently saving WOW 100k 🧐
@@iain9757 ikr … but let’s be real the bbc will milk the value of the show to bring in and keep a diverse / lbgtqia+ audience cos we all know that the bbc is dying and need the viewing figures cos that all they have to worry about as the whole company is taxpayer funded……
Why would she think Lemon's talent show was worse than Janey's tho? It felt pretty obvious Janey was the worst performance of the week, yet she didn't send her home. I think as much as she wouldn't like to admit it, she was being very strategic in her decisions
This season ended up feeling like such an afterthought. I understand they may have wanted to "test" the concept out but it makes me sad to think that for so many of these queens, this will be their only shot at an All Stars season (at least for the forseeable future). That being said, I do hope WOW listens to the feedback from the fandom, continues tweaking the format and comes back with another try next year (I know Canada v the World is allegedly in the works so we'll see). This season felt so reminiscent of AS1 (right down to the episode number): an absolutely stacked cast of legends who were not given the proper challenges / format to shine. Huge congrats to Blu and all the queens for doing their best given the circumstances and lack of incentives lol. Back to S14 !!
I literally watched the first episode of this season, saw Lemon get eliminated and was like “so that’s how this is gonna go”. Safe to say I didn’t watch the rest of the season. Not cause I was salty that lemon went, just the whole manner of things and the way the “fandom” have treated the queens I just kinda gave up. I mean I’m so happy that Blu finally got the recognition she deserves and got that crown, but defo won’t be rewatching this season anytime soon. Amazing episode queen!
The only time I really said “what the hell?” when it came to the judging was when Blu wasn’t in the top with Mo for the girl group challenge. She had the second best verse and a gorgeous runway and served a high energy performance.
That, lemon in episode 1 (along with baga getting a high placement) and Blu not getting a high placement in the rusical for absolutely no reason was really the only time I disagreed with the placements (maybe also blu should have been high in the ball but that seems up for debate)
Yes, this has to be one of the seasons I was least invested in. Most weeks I forgot that a new episode had dropped, when I usually look forward to new Drag Race episodes. And after Jimbo and Pangina left I didn't care who was going to win. Also they really, REALLY need to do something about the no cash prize thing in the UK. I know it's a thing with the BBC but still, with the stakes being so low it makes things a lot less interesting.
This season felt very much so like All Stars 1, where the producers really had no idea what they were doing and were just using this season as a test subject
I'm gonna be honest, I think this season was faulty even before the beginning of the season. I *hated* the format of UK vs The World. Like obviously a UK queen would win, which made the season feel predictable despite the "gags." It doubly sucks since queens don't win any money for their achievements. Why bother making yourself go bankrupt for zero guarantee of payment for your efforts? Even the regular US seasons, as faulty as they are, have a $5,000 incentive for a win. Also, this may be controversial, but I think this season came too early. It was filming right before the boom in international seasons so we missed out on a ton of potential queens. Imagine the gag of having only one queen from each season from a way more diverse field of seasons, like España , Holland 1 and 2, UK 1 2 and 3, Italia, Thailand 1 and 2, Canada 1 and 2, etc. Hell we could even get more hosts on there! Imagine the gag of Brooke Lyn and Pangina on the same season. I love all the queens on this season, but it felt weirdly small for the first international season. The only big gag was Pangina and then Janey was a wild card too. If this gets a season 2, to quote a queen fans overly hate, it'll be "much betta."
and 3 queens form uk 1 mean they already had a close bond replace blu with Tayce and Cherly with Victoria Scone would have been better, replace juju with Derek berry
The biggest slap in the face is the prize itself I was expecting a collab in a similar vein of Ru and Tanya but what we got instead is a bad redux of Ongina all stars performance audio
Honestly not sure why drag race decided on the BBC for its UK version, as Channel 4 would be a much better fit, they have less guidelines to follow and a bigger budget. It maybe on BBC Three which is the BBC channel for its more risqué content aimed at 20 somethings but its still a government funded channel. So definitely no loopholes in terms of funding.
I think the biggest thing for me is when you say, "Queen of the World" you're technically saying this is better than AS. I went in with that impression and shouldn't have. And you're right, having it alongside a regular season of drag race made them pretty much force a side by side comparison. Hopefully next season will be better.
It'll be remembered for the top 3s talent show, panginas cat look, blus dots looks, Janeys dance move vs pangina, jimbo going, pangina going, the top 2s snatch game, and then the winner being crowned. They're my highlights.
I'd like to see a new format for this type of All Stars. I had an idea for Ru to choose a top all star and 3 bottom queens. Then the top all star chooses the bottom 2 to lip sync for their lives. It would be a good mix up from other all star seasons and could bring some drama
If I judged this season this is how the elimination order would go 9th- Jujubee 8th- Cheryl 7th- Baga 6th- Lemon 5th- Janey 4th- Mo 3rd- Jimbo Top 2- Blu & Pangina (with either winning)
Interesting. It's hard to say about Janey - because her talent show was the absolute bottom for me. From the fairness perspective, she deserved to go home. Still, if the season was really about getting newer queens more exposure, she needed a second chance to show more, and she had some good looks. Anyway, being that there's no way production was going to send Jujubee home first, and if you go with the idea that they wanted to keep the UK girls around for a bit, this certainly explains how Lemon ended up being the first sent home. I also would have put Jimbo 4th and Mo 3rd - simply because she's not shown herself to be good at lipsynching. I mean, the looks are stunning, and there's definitely a lane for her kind of comedy - but lipsyncing is her weak spot. Being that the finale is always a lipsync, I'd have to put her as fourth. Mo is more well-rounded as a queen.
@@JoyD.C. yea this is like it I were making the decisions without any production interference, and I agree that Jimbo can’t lip sync but this is also more of if I ranked the queens performance in the season but there is also the chance that she could lip sync in the second pair which would put her at technically 3rd lol
If i were the producers of canada vs the world i would cast jimbo and lemon again, or at the bare minimum lemon. These 2 deserved better, *ESPECIALLY* lemon; they had so much more to show
It’s kind of funny - I stopped watching because I wasn’t interested to see what queens like Juju brought since there was little effort but I always went on the eliminated queens social media to see what they brought. At least we can see their beautiful work somewhere!
I honestly believe that they had someone else planned to be on the show, they got covid and couldn’t film and then they last minute called up Jujubee cause they know she would just come back and fill in the space
"Remember when I said Gigi Goode didn't deserve to win Snatch Game?" We stan a self aware queen. Also, I think the biggest issue with this season is that many queens didn't feel evolved. We've already seen Mo and Juju at their best in All Stars, Baga was the same Baga as in UK1... Only Blu really showed a lot of growth out of the top 4. As for the other queens... Lemon obviously had a lot more to show and was cut too soon, and with Pangina and Jimbo, no season was going to survive two frontrunners getting cut back to back, no matter how gagged we were at the moment. Cheryl probably wouldn't have done super well, but a few more episodes of her loveable goofy personality would've added a lot to the season. Janey is the rare case in that I think she came out of this the best (besides Blu of course): showcased herself to the fandom at her best, and was not seen as "robbed".
At the very announcement of this, I told my fiance: Wanna bet the finalists will all be UK and US and an UK girl is gonna win?" And the Pangina came in and I was like... Nevermind! I guess I was right after all... Also, I'm pretty sure BBC can´t offer prize money because it is a pusblic service channel and I agree that it makes the stakes lower, but there´s no going around that rule
In terms of the Snatch Game bottom 4, I think it was done for two reasons; firstly, to not have the only two non-native English speakers in the bottom for this challenge (idk something about that just feels sticky) and also to protect Pangina from being sent home, by adding more queens into the mix the chance that she'd get sent home is lowered
As someone not born in an English speaking country, I'd beseech you to read Pangina's "early history" section on Wikipedia. She has received a higher English language education than most native speakers. Or do you mean the fandom will misinterpret it that way despite English not being the issue for Pangina? Her problem was picking Mariah and not using any other Mariah-isms despite there being a whole challenge in a previous US season where that was a focus - so already having material to poach from beyond "I don't know her" and "Why'te you so obsessed with me?".
@@selorm to be clear, this isn’t about Pangina’s (or Janey’s) *actual* English speaking ability. It speaks more to the long history Drag Race has with sending home queens from non English speaking countries during acting challenges. I do not believe that either queen lost this challenge because of their knowledge of English, but rather because of their knowledge of their character and Ru’s sense of humour
The biggest riggory of the season imo was Baga Chipz not being put in the bottom. They favoured her waaaaay too much. She simply didn't deleiver. My heroes of the season were Pangina and Janey,
you know, as someone who's a big fan of shows like Big Brother and Survivor, there is a part of me that did appreciate the cut throat strategy in this season. Pangina making her strategy completely known by eliminating Jimbo who won the first two weeks and then getting immediately eliminated herself? That would make some amazing TV if it was BB or S. On the other hand, this is more of a talent competition than those other shows, so at the end of the day, I'm glad that the robbed queens who track-record-wise should have went to the end have established careers and followings and it happened on a side-series. I'm satisfied but I can imagine many people not liking it, like Jujubee making it to the finale despite having 4 consecutive bottom 2s and the other queens of overlooked franchises with the most wins getting cut early would leave a bad taste, but that's the nature of legacy lip-syncing.
But that's the point, Drag Race is meant to be based on talent, not strategy. It ends up becoming a race to the middle, with every dominating queen on the season goes out early. Also, Pangina has stated over and over that she took Jimbo out because she was the worst in the challenge, not because she was competition and no one seems to want to acknowledge that fact(? And by the way, she actually wasn't much competition on such a lipsync heavy season
@@tyagirodriguez4947 huge fan of Pan and I don't want it to seem like I'm putting words in her mouth but like that is not a plausible explaination for saving someone who was in their second consecutive bottom 2 over someone who won two consecutive challenges. She can try to say she singled out that challenge only for her decision, but we 're not dumb lol the ulterior motive is so obvious. No hate though, she came to win which I appreciate.
This is a fair point. Being that I'm not a fan of shows like Big Brother and Survivor, it's not surprising that I found this kind of "drama" to be more annoying than entertaining, but it's a direction. 🙄
@@khntou4178 Isn't it though? Jimbo was absolutely the worst in the challenge. And keep in mind that even though it isn't the most fair thing, queens competing always have assumptions about who the fans love (look at AS4 when literally everyone was scared to eliminate Latrice because she was "the beloved") and Jujubee has been one of the very few representations Pangina has had and looked up to on Drag Race, and like it or not she IS a Drag Race legend, so it's not so weird to me that they saved her twice at that point. Pangina also said going into the season that she would judge fairly and based on each episode. Plus if I was there and Jimbo had the tantrum everyone says she had, she'd be out the door. Another thing that everyone seems to be glossing over is the fact that this ia lipsync heavy season, and Jimbo can't perform to save her own life. So,put all of those things together, and you have more than enough reasons to see why she got sent home
I was really hoping Pangina and Jimbo would make it to the end, but I figured Blu would win. First of all, a UK queen in the UK makes sense, and out of all the UK queens, Blu has improved a lot. I was a fan of Blu on UK S1, but the looks she brought this time, and the confidence, it was great to see. I still would have loved to see Pangina and Blu lip sync in the finale.
With a smaller cast like this, I really think it would make more sense to forego eliminations and just do a scoring system. The person with the most points at the end of the season would be the winner.
Does anyone else feel the show was rigged to have majority UK and US queens in the final? I was suspicious that it was gonna happen before it aired but I was amazed they ended up with 100% of the finalists being from those two countries!
I was high when I was watching the Snatch Game episode and was so SHOCKED when Blu sent Pangina home because I could just not fathom why Blu would do it, in comparison to Baga who had a motive to avenge Jimbo. Also I couldn't understand if Pangina's wails in the background were real or if I was just too stoned. I just kept saying "that's crazy, this is insane."
This season felt like a tentative testing the waters of a new franchise, rather than the triumphant reveal of an International version of All Stars that I think we all wanted
International all stars should not have eliminations. These queens are not known to the fandom as much as the american girls. They deserve more airtime.
(26:37) I agree - Mo seemed to only be giving about 80% in her performances this season, especially in the lipsyncs. I really hoped she would slay the way she did on AS4, but, for some reason, she seemed to hold back. Well, at least her runways and personality were stellar.
The one thing this season did correct was it introduced two amazing queens from the non-English franchises in Janey and Pangina. So happy they’re both getting more recognition
it’s sad blu win won’t be taken seriously amongst a chunk of the Fanbase even though she constantly did great in the first 4 episodes, and was good in the challenge ep5 and her runway was good but not amazing. her track record doesn’t do her justice for how well she did. IMO her track record could’ve been (high, high, high, win, btm 3/ or safe had the twist not been brought in) but I’ll always be grateful for this season introducing me to pangina. and also I hate how the fandom seem to be doing the justice for whoever and whoever hashtag for everyone but Cheryl. I am and forever am a cheryl Stan.
I’m sorry but blu lying about how she told Pangina she wanted her to stay, trying to get pity for eliminating Pangina but then being like yes I slayed her suck it here’s a lipstick in my verse…….just rubs me the wrong way. I get it’s a game, but you could’ve just been neutral and not told Pangina you want her to stay only to stab her in the back.
@@joshuavalentin7628 they showed in the untuck that blu said “I want you to stay” and if you go back to the original episode she goes on to say about how she wants to compete against the best. Idk if it’s the edit but it all rubbed me the wrong way.
@@phoenixrising7777 No she never said that, she said she doesn’t want to send her home because she respects her, and that “she doesn’t think she will be able to”, but that she can’t say it’s not tempting. She never alluded to the idea she was defo keeping her, she was very clearly keeping her options open.
At least queens like Pangina and Janey got boosted. Pangina has represented Thailand beautifully and Janey launched a single besides being in a RuPaul track.
I'm only at the beginning of the video but, omg, the comparison with Solar Power is just perfect. Although it has its controversial moments, the season overall was very lukewarm.
also the song that the winner made with ru was really just a medley of all of ru's other songs with the winner sometimes saying one or two lines in the background
The lipstick picking is the most rigged part to me. I love jujubee but they definitely could’ve had certain queens win the lipsync so jujubeee would stay. Not complaining but it bothers me how it’s done
I just think that the fact that UK Vs the world was indeed a Brits show, the same way that season 14 is being an American, because people from the UK can't access season 14 and people from the US can't access UKvstheworld, without streaming services. And this just warps our perceptions in a way, I think personally think that UKvstheworld was quick, but good, the winner got an amazing story arc and some queens also got to shine and show a part of them that we haven't seen (not giving any names because of spoilers). But ye, UKvstheworld was so talked about and it's gonna have an impact from here onwards on the way that all star's elimination strategies go from now on.
The problem with this season was with the UK part. Why not INTERNATIONAL drag race? It had no budget, no motivation, and deep down we knew an UK queen HAD to win, since it’s literally called UK DRAG RACE WHYY??
I didn’t think Pangina’s decision to get rid of Jimbo was that shocking. Picking between Jujubee , a drag race legend, and Jimbo is a difficult decision. No one wants to send a fan favourite home, but I would to avoid sending home a legend.
Honestly, I'm Happy that Blu won. She seemed to have a confidence that wasn't there in her original season. She showed growth, which is the point of AllStars.
There were so many issues with this season. So, so many. I mostly stopped watching, but what I loved about this season (as you said so perfectly!!!) was the memorable eliminations! I LOVED that they finally were going for the front runners. It absolutely doesn't make for good tv to have the best be gone, but this was one of the first times they flippantly just sniped the best, and I really enjoyed it.
The factor of the streaming/cable broadcast showings of S14 and UKvsThe World is in reverse over in the UK (can't speak for other countries). Since the new seasons of Drag race are no longer on Netflix, many people have dropped the season over here, where as UKvsThe World is being shown on BBC3/iPlayer so many more people tune in just for that.
Great video and good commentary. The fandom is completely outta control and need to chill like yesterday. It’s a tv show, it’s not that serious. Some of my the biggest let downs from UK vs the world was how short the episodes were, lemon going home first, and no price money. Everything else as far as eliminations go were far game. Congrats to Blu bc the bihhh is sickening! Period! Well deserved 🤷🏽♂️
Also a note from someone in the UK about the BBC/lack of prizes! The BBC is publically funded which is why they aren't allowed any sponsorship on the show, or any prize money. Any other TV production company in the UK would not be subject to the same rules because the BBC is the only publically funded one, so in theory if production switched to a different company (such as Channel 4 - which has 'taken' shows from the BBC before), then prize money would be allowed. Having said that, the show has been a huge hit here for the BBC so i doubt very much they would want that to happen. I think a fairer approach if it is to stay on the BBC might be the queens all having some kind of allowance for their costumes for each episode because I agree that it's not fair to ask the queens to invest in what Michelle and Ru see as "the Olypmics of drag" outfits when there will be no direct monetary gain for them whilst on the show. Also I do think that drag race in general has an issue with favouring queens with access to larger budgets and an allowance might be able to overcome those kinds of issues... maybe?
I really want to point out a flaw in your consideration of prize money: Yes, the BBC *is* taxpayer funded and as such prize money is usually not done in many formats where it is in the US. In the US, that prize money is usually paid for by the commercials. The BBC has strict rules against abusing taxpayer money for commercial purposes. You will never see an advert on the BBC that isn’t just “btw this bbc show is coming out soon too”. You’re also not allowed product placement in many ways too. It’s an ethical channel paid for by the people for the people. That also happens to come without flashy end-stage-capitalist advert bombing and financial incentives, but that’s what makes BBC one of the most respected broadcasting services on the planet. That aside my main point is that even IF the money were put forward by WoW or whatever themselves for the prize. It would be ILLEGAL. Drag race, as you outline in this video is NOT a fair or true competition. It is so overproduced and rigged to the point that calling it a competition at all is kind of an insult to real competitions. It’s rigged. We know this. The UK has laws not only about rights when being portrayed on television but about what constitutes a fair competition. Even if the money were there, Drag Race is not a real or fair competition, therefore it’s unethical to award prize money. Especially with the queens sending each other home stuff. It wouldn’t be an ethical or moral use of money. In an ideal world, DR would be fair. Maybe like the rumoured upcoming winners season will work. Maybe then. But not before. It would be inappropriate.
Its not illegal in the UK for reality shows/competition TV shows to be awarded money? Just that the BBC don't allow sponsorships and advertisements so therefore they can't do that on the show. If it was hosted by ITV, chanel 4 etc there's no reason why they couldn't have prize money. There was even a screenshot of an explanation of this on the video but it was clearly not read properly 🙈 I don't really get why that's such a difficult concept for people to grasp 🤷♀️ the prize money comes from sponsorships, which is why it's all "you can win a sickening supply of (insert one of the many brand names used already on drag race seasons here)" on the other series and we don't hear that on the UK series
@@YourName-nj5us No. Y'all are just stupid, the guy read it and he's 100% right. World Of Wonder would run into law suits and would probably shut down if they were to air DR on a diff channel and provide a prize package, because of how overproduced the "competition" is. If you watch any British telly (which I'm pretty sure you don't) you quickly realize competitions here can't be messed with because you can sue the production company if they had any illegal interference. We already know drag race is rigged to hell and back (the queens literally confirm it season after season) which is why World Of Wonder made the smart decision to partner with BBC and make the entire competition be a joke pretty much, with a joke prize to go along with it.
@@zaldigr863 excuse me? Ever heard of love Island? Big brother? They have prize monies and I'm pretty sure they are discriminate with their editing to portray favourable and unfavourable contestants 🤔
I am a tad confused about the prize money because we have shows that give out prize money (on the bbc) like pointless, tenable, bargain hunt, splash etc But then it’s not main stream in the UK so I guess that’s half the reason
I like this season just for introducing the world at large to Pangina, a queen that frankly deserves to be in an all winners season.

ALL OF THIS 👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼
Lemon and Jimbo stans are an absolute disgrace, the way they treated Pangina is nothing less than disgusting.
The fandom has been super toxic this season. I think we need an age requirement to watch.
i think its coming from somewhere else. ive felt and expressed misplaced anger lately over things like the dont say gay bill, book bannings, the texas bill about trans kids parents getting child abuse charges...and now russia is acting real wild and we're all on edge i think. at least to this american, it feels like the queer community could lose everything. it makes something that should be light, like drag race, very charged. this is our REPRESENTATION youre talking about. idk just a thought.
I think the “if your not in the top your in the bottom” ordeal was put there after snatch game to give Blu and Baga the option to NOT eliminate a front runner, but they both went for it anyway 😂
Honestly and I love ut

that choice gave me so much hope only to crush it
Imagine if they did that in aS5 and someone eliminated Shea. Dear god it would have been chaotic and made AS5 not so boring
I think in the future we'll regard this as an AS1 for the international franchises. The experimental nature of this season was very evident even though production really tried to play it safe with the format and challenges. However, I do think production will be taking notes and I certainly expect improvements on a second season
I completely agree (and came here to say this). I felt like this was a pilot season for international all stars
We can only hope that production listens
This way the season's stakes are raised, it gets a total episode count of 8 or 9 episodes, there is more variety in the challenges and we get at least 3/4 episodes with the first out
Whoa so does that mean we’re due for an AS2 level glow up?? 🤩
Much like All Stars 1, this feels more like an experiment than an actual event. Here's hoping if they do a second season, they take the time to learn and improve things and make a truly iconic season like All Stars 2
“they take time to learn and improve things” so… yeah
I’m all up for All Stars 2 International ver. as long as they don’t cast the British ver. of Rolaskatox or smth

love how Pangina became the face of this season despite not even making it to the semifinals. Love that for her
This is why Allstars voting sucks. How valuable is a win if you are too scared to compete against the best? These rules need to go.
Perfectly sums it up
@shiny_boi_cammi That's not true.
@shiny_boi_cammi I know, the original comment said competing, not beating
@@ev1802 I agree with what you're saying, but I also think those gaggy moments do also happen "naturally", look at Valentina, or Shea in the S9 finale, even Ongina on S1. I think placing the blame on the queens is ridiculous, and the format rewards mediocrity and strategy over talent, when it's supposed to be mostly about talent
I think the worst part is the wasted talent.
I’m happy for Blu and her win but I feel as if they wasted the other girls potential on a real all stars. I really want to see lemon again.

UK queens? you can say baga
@@ianinasio Oh absolutely Baga. I think with the exception of snatch game I would have placed her a spot below each of her placements. But honestly though I can't think of an example of the US or other UK queens getting saved (or even being placed above where they likely should be).

Mo, as much as i love her, was also saved from the bottom on episode 1 with that horrible performance (literally hurt my ears) and her runway was good, but if a runway could save a queen pangina and jimbo shouldn't have been up for elimination.
Lemon has also talked about how her second performance was way better than her first but they only showed her first performance
yeah not the exact same as farrah moan, but she did have a performance where she didn't fall at all and another where she did. kind of makes me feel they should just film these performances once just like the lip sync for your lives, but even with those they edit them to how they want the audience to view them and not just show us everything that actually happened

Word^^ Also the looks she brought, but couldn't showcase.... stun-ning!
The stakes just weren't there, and I'm not convinced that this is solely due to the lack of prize money. It gave me very Holislay Spectacular, oddly enough. It felt like most of the queens were going through the motions and didn't really care, so I didn't either.
You make a good point. I never thought of it that way but that is true. If we don't see them giving the energy how're we supposed to get hyped?
Its a pilot season with only 6 eps there wasnt room
Not only did the US/UK girls have more allies, there was literally no judging representation other than US and UK. This automatically creates bias whether intentional or not.
I feel bad for jujubee because i honestly think at this point she had no where to go but down. She had already slayed all stars and then done another show and I think it was just oversaturation. If she had done the international all stars season 2 maybe, but right away after queen of the universe was a recipe for disaster
She can't go to international all stars 2, she will be busy participating in Ru Paul's drag cooking show 🙄
Juju doesn't have a choice.
I feel like the AS voting system works... for AS, NOT for international seasons
If everyone was from the same franchise, Jimbo and Pangina's eliminations would've been shocking but that would be it.
Maybe the chocolate bar gimmick would've been better here... just for the f**kery
I honestly expected this to be longer but it’s still pretty impressive considering the season was only six episodes long lmao
True they
Showed a lot!!! Which is good. They added more looks in one episode! The talent shows in normal
AllStars don’t have a Runway and they did.

huuuuuuge missed opportunity not to have other international judges. I was dyyyyying to see fred and art on the panel!!!
They need to bring back pangina for another all stars.
She is too good for that
I think this series will be remembered much like All Stars 4 - mostly for the shocking eliminations and not for the actual challenges
There are two things I’m thankful about this season: Introducing me to Pangina and reminding me I love Lemon
Janey is a fucking treasure
I think it should've been filmed a lot later, so there could've been some more franchises out to add to the variety. Imagine if we had a Down Under girl and an España girl in the mix too, like Anita Wig'lit and Arantxa Castilla La Mancha - they'd give us some great TV and really fit into the competition well too I think.
I definitely think the season was too short too, 8 episodes would work a lot better as it would give us a variety on the challenges. A proper acting challenge, and a makeover would be ideal there cos it's two things we didn't really get to see.
Italia too! Loved those queens
I’ve always disagreed with the whole “Get rid of the Top 2 lipstick format”, but after this… i can firmly say i’m a supporter of the movement
I also noticed this season they were not playing fair whatsoever. It was clear from the start that all the tough competition would be removed, esp with Lemon/Pangina's eliminations. This format did not help and neither did it save queens on a good run for the season.
Like where do we sign that petition lol
I think a lip sync assassin would be a better option than the Top Two battle.
I mean they could have gone to ITV
@@iain9757 ikr … but let’s be real the bbc will milk the value of the show to bring in and keep a diverse / lbgtqia+ audience cos we all know that the bbc is dying and need the viewing figures cos that all they have to worry about as the whole company is taxpayer funded……

But does the big money come from WOW or is it contributed to by sponsors?
I think Pangina judged on how she judged on Thailand. She picked who she thought was the worst of the challenge.

Agree with everything except for Blu, she didn’t deserve to win she was so meh…
People really slept on Janey Jacké and that’s sad.
Right? She was a very worthy runner up to Envy Peru in her season of Drag Race Holland. I love her and was so sad to see her go.
I loved Janey in this season. I didn’t see her original season but I loved her here and she should have made it to the top 4
Old chinese saying: when the fries start to smell like shit, it's time to mow the grass: th-cam.com/video/qIbI9I8Xvdc/w-d-xo.html
If this gets a season 2, to quote a queen fans overly hate, it'll be "much betta."
and 3 queens form uk 1 mean they already had a close bond
replace blu with Tayce and Cherly with Victoria Scone would have been better, replace juju with Derek berry
I think the thing that "upsets" me the most is that it turned inti UK vs US
I think the biggest thing for me is when you say, "Queen of the World" you're technically saying this is better than AS.
This season will be forgettable in the next couple years lmao

The only good thing that came out was Pangina
Oh Dear: th-cam.com/video/qIbI9I8Xvdc/w-d-xo.html
I'd like to see a new format for this type of All Stars. I had an idea for Ru to choose a top all star and 3 bottom queens. Then the top all star chooses the bottom 2 to lip sync for their lives. It would be a good mix up from other all star seasons and could bring some drama
If I judged this season this is how the elimination order would go
9th- Jujubee
8th- Cheryl
7th- Baga
6th- Lemon
5th- Janey
4th- Mo
3rd- Jimbo
Top 2- Blu & Pangina (with either winning)
This is the kind of TH-cam channel I wanna see every single time, you dropped it literally hours after the finale, no, I'm satisfied, really. 💕💕💕💕
Supposedly it was gonna be Manila but she got an offer to host Drag Race Philippines so they asked JuJu
Have you seen Ru’s outfits lately? The ball should’ve been a non-elimination episode.
At the very announcement of this, I told my fiance: Wanna bet the finalists will all be UK and US and an UK girl is gonna win?"
And the Pangina came in and I was like... Nevermind!
I guess I was right after all...
Also, I'm pretty sure BBC can´t offer prize money because it is a pusblic service channel and I agree that it makes the stakes lower, but there´s no going around that rule
They cant allow *sponsorship* wow can still put up some prize money
@Kunal Kumar Moorjani Please look up the definition of fairness🥰😘
I was really hoping Pangina and Jimbo would make it to the end, but I figured Blu would win. First of all, a UK queen in the UK makes sense, and out of all the UK queens, Blu has improved a lot. I was a fan of Blu on UK S1, but the looks she brought this time, and the confidence, it was great to see. I still would have loved to see Pangina and Blu lip sync in the finale.
I repeatedly watching your old vids over and over again lol. I’m glad there’s new one for me to stream.
Bagga’s Kitty Girl look was based on iconic UK children’s character Bagpuss, a magical stuffed toy cat that comes to life.
This came out faster than the season 14 girls
International all stars should not have eliminations. These queens are not known to the fandom as much as the american girls. They deserve more airtime.
(26:37) I agree - Mo seemed to only be giving about 80% in her performances this season, especially in the lipsyncs. I really hoped she would slay the way she did on AS4, but, for some reason, she seemed to hold back. Well, at least her runways and personality were stellar.
The one thing this season did correct was it introduced two amazing queens from the non-English franchises in Janey and Pangina. So happy they’re both getting more recognition
Jimbo and Pangina's eliminations were so surreal oh my god
You dropped this as fast as the front runners dropped out the competition
it’s sad blu win won’t be taken seriously amongst a chunk of the Fanbase even though she constantly did great in the first 4 episodes, and was good in the challenge ep5 and her runway was good but not amazing. her track record doesn’t do her justice for how well she did.
IMO her track record could’ve been (high, high, high, win, btm 3/ or safe had the twist not been brought in)
but I’ll always be grateful for this season introducing me to pangina.
and also I hate how the fandom seem to be doing the justice for whoever and whoever hashtag for everyone but Cheryl. I am and forever am a cheryl Stan.
I’m sorry but blu lying about how she told Pangina she wanted her to stay, trying to get pity for eliminating Pangina but then being like yes I slayed her suck it here’s a lipstick in my verse…….just rubs me the wrong way. I get it’s a game, but you could’ve just been neutral and not told Pangina you want her to stay only to stab her in the back.
she never told pangina she wasn’t picking her she said she doesn’t want to pick her there’s a huge difference lol
She never alluded to the idea she was defo keeping her, she was very clearly keeping her options open.
im crying cuz the way pangina has the word 'winner' on her head smdfgdhs MY HEART HURTS
This is the quickest video on the riggory!
Seeing you compare Jujubee to Parvati is one of the best comparisons I've seen. Absolutely spot on
At least the baga favoritism is over.
2 iconic eliminations, 1 snatch game for the memories. The return of this lipstick format is a great highlight:
At least queens like Pangina and Janey got boosted. Pangina has represented Thailand beautifully and Janey launched a single besides being in a RuPaul track.
you nailed on the face i swear i was telling my partner how it feels exactly like when trixie won
All this conflama for a duet with Ru. This season was so unnecessary
The stakes were so low.
I'm only at the beginning of the video but, omg, the comparison with Solar Power is just perfect. Although it has its controversial moments, the season overall was very lukewarm.
At least Solar Power is aging very well and is great
I honestly thought Baga should have been on the bottom every episode except Snatch Game
also the song that the winner made with ru was really just a medley of all of ru's other songs with the winner sometimes saying one or two lines in the background
Tbh more than anything I actually think the fan reactions and hate really brought the season down for me too
I want jimbo to confirm or deny if his rupaul dress was inspired by the iconic Christmas ornament
But ye, UKvstheworld was so talked about and it's gonna have an impact from here onwards on the way that all star's elimination strategies go from now on.
jimbo confirmed they got budget for the show
The problem with this season was with the UK part. Why not INTERNATIONAL drag race? It had no budget, no motivation, and deep down we knew an UK queen HAD to win, since it’s literally called UK DRAG RACE
WHYY??
It felt so wrong when Pangina left it was strange, but out of who was left I definitely felt blu had the best journey and wanted her to win
Personally, this is one of my favourite casts and the most invested I’ve ever been in a season besides AS6
The factor of the streaming/cable broadcast showings of S14 and UKvsThe World is in reverse over in the UK (can't speak for other countries).
Since the new seasons of Drag race are no longer on Netflix, many people have dropped the season over here, where as UKvsThe World is being shown on BBC3/iPlayer so many more people tune in just for that.
Baga should have been in the bottom 4 out of 5 competitive eps. The season was only riggory.
35 minutes? yes goddddd
Also I do think that drag race in general has an issue with favouring queens with access to larger budgets and an allowance might be able to overcome those kinds of issues... maybe?
I really want to point out a flaw in your consideration of prize money:
Yes, the BBC *is* taxpayer funded and as such prize money is usually not done in many formats where it is in the US.
I wish people would just realize it's a reality tv show.
Its not illegal in the UK for reality shows/competition TV shows to be awarded money? Just that the BBC don't allow sponsorships and advertisements so therefore they can't do that on the show. If it was hosted by ITV, chanel 4 etc there's no reason why they couldn't have prize money. There was even a screenshot of an explanation of this on the video but it was clearly not read properly 🙈
I don't really get why that's such a difficult concept for people to grasp 🤷♀️ the prize money comes from sponsorships, which is why it's all "you can win a sickening supply of (insert one of the many brand names used already on drag race seasons here)" on the other series and we don't hear that on the UK series
BBC seems like a flop
@@zaldigr863 excuse me? Ever heard of love Island? Big brother? They have prize monies and I'm pretty sure they are discriminate with their editing to portray favourable and unfavourable contestants 🤔
I am a tad confused about the prize money because we have shows that give out prize money (on the bbc) like pointless, tenable, bargain hunt, splash etc
But then it’s not main stream in the UK so I guess that’s half the reason
