I think is good for the people want to go visit in New Zealand, because in there have good place , what you call this food brother is look very delicious? And my video is street food but not attractive like you ❤❤❤
Don't forget that you don't need to tip in New Zealand! We don't pay wait staff in pennies here, though it also means they don't have to be 'overly friendly' (by our standards) to hustle for tips. You can still tip if you really like the service, but most places split the tips so they'll have a tip jar at the counter. If you don't see a tip jar around, they might not accept tips because some employers don't like dealing with the hassle it creates when sorting out the employees' taxes.
I used to work at a restaurant when I was studying in Auckland and we collectively decided that our tips went towards an epic Christmas do. The owner matched what we earned in tips. We had an epic day at rainbows end then an amazing dinner and drinks at a place on the waterfront! But yeah, we only managed that because the rugby world cup happened that year so we made loads
@@Gryffindame Wait, when I was working at restaurants, I was getting like about a grand in tips a month. We all put ours together and split with everyone, so it was like getting a weeks wages on top of your normal wage. Your boss was ripping you..
That hangi probably wasn't cooked the traditional way. It should taste smokey. But unless you're invited to a gathering of some sort that's about as close as you'll get to it.
Mel Catley that is true :) the Hangi Shop, where these two went to, is actually steamed. Only just now there is a new hangi shop that has opened downtown in Auckland where a hangi is made every single day in the ground every morning. And I can tell you- BEST HANGI THAT CAN BE BOUGHT. Hands down.
@@munzzproductions9101 Best Hangi i ever had, started in the ground, then it pissed down and the hangi pit started to fill with water half way through,so we hauled it all out,and finished it in the fan oven, kept the smokey taste, and cooked everything as good as it would have in the ground.
new zealand for sure has the freshest top quality food ever in the world. so fresh and local good quality foods especially the meat. commonsense organics is one of my local shops i always go to as well. pure delish brand granola or non grainola and nz salmon or venison is my fav.
If you want to try real hokey pokey pick some up at a supermarket or dairy. The one you had was ruined by the gimicky chocolate, it should be just vanilla ice cream with little balls of hokey pokey (hard caramel) blended through. While at the supermarket grab a packet of toffee pops, some timtams and a tub of marmite (vegemite is for Ausies):)Oh and a picnic bar too!
Thank you for saying nice thing about New Zealand. Most other people who try it.... Hate the food.... It makes me sad. As New Zealand is my home country.
Tena korua. While I commend the both of you for doing a food tour throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand), the best tastes of paradise (cheap too) is at the Markets. I enjoyed watching this video and would like to see more. P.S Don't worry about the pronounciation of Te Reo, it's the fact that you're trying that matters most. Kia Ora 🤗
It's the only country I've ever visited where I just thought "yeah, this is fucking paradise". It's other-worldly.. Auckland is just a city, but the rest of the country is bloody perfect. If it wasn't literally the other side of the planet I'd just move there.
Really never seen New Zealand before. Especially the indigenous Hangi food. It's awesome that you try to look for special places to show us that are out of the way and probably not so touristy.
Hey you two, i didn't know you were in NZ! If you're going up north from Auckland, please stop in my restaurant, it's just past Warkworth on State highway 1, you will pass it! It's called The Red House, we've got an open mic night tomorrow night too. Would be great to say hello to you both, i've been following most of your travels :)
Loved that you got out to the hangi shop guys! YUM! Plus those teaser shots of more delicious things to come in the intro was brilliant! Brilliant video you two! Cheers, Sheena 😘
In sooooo damn excited for the next 3 weeks of watching you guys in New Zealand!! Alison, hunny, just go ham on the ice cream! If you do it delicate you get covered 😂😂 go ham on it!
I actually can't believe that you went to south Auckland for hangi and Otahuhu for that matter. i. Like that just blows my mind a little. I've never known tourists to actually go out of the City centre when staying in Auckland! Good on you! Best place for hangi is in Rotorua - like no joke I'm very judgy when it comes to hangi. Rotorua, specifically Mitai, is probably the closest you'll get to proper. Well in my opinion anyway. Safe travels guys xx
Or just don't get it. Why wouldn't they goto South Auckland. Wait, do you think you are tough, intimidating and scary? Ha, noone thinks that, only you guys do. Jog on little foot.
So fun, thanks for sharing you two! NZ is on my bucket list! Look forward to the next one! Btw, Allison, you handled that messy ice cream like a champ! I would have been wearing much more of it, I'm klutzy like that! 😂
My husbands mother is from New Zealand one of the things the he loved while living there was Jaffas. It is a hard shell candy that is dark chocolate and orange. He misses them the most.
Now you guys are a real travel couple I can enjoy! You seem like you actually are in love and neither of you is whiny and needy or annoying. Keep up the good work!!! I've enjoyed every video of yours that I've seen and I find them useful during my travels! :)
Are you coming to Dunedin on your tour or are you by-passing the oldest city in NZ and heading for the tourist traps? So many amazing places to eat - Speights Ale House is well worth a visit, as is the brewery tour that they offer. There is also a boutique chocolate maker, with ethically sourced cocoa beans - a must see attraction. Also - Baldwin Street - the steepest residential street in the world - you have to climb it! Will wait to see whether you get here or not!
I've been to paris, alaska, cali, and lots of other places famous for food. when i went to new zealand i didn't even go for the food but oh my god it's really the best food i've ever eaten. the green lipped mussels are so damn good. i literally went back again for the green lipped mussels.
Random fact, although there are so many sheep in NZ, the best cuts are exported or sold to restaurants & the average kiwi gets offered mutton in the supermarkets for a ridiculously high price. The average kiwi family can't afford to eat lamb.
Wow, New Zealand! Auckland is on the top of my travel bucket list. I'll be living vicariously through you two while you're in NZ. I hope you get to experience authentic Māori culture as well.
Really so enjoyable traveling with you folks and I can almost taste and smell the food. I have traveled all my life and been to many places. I sit here, sipping vino, by a fire reliving wonderful trips. I don't miss those long hauls, wishing I could just recline and elevate my feet. Through you I travel. Great presentations.
Often a Hangi is used as a more formal and pre-planned BBQ. We used to have a Hangi on Guy Fawkes night and family and friends would come over. Not a lot of spices are used in a hangi other salt and pepper, (though sometimes garlic is used).
I am just sitting here enjoying all the memories of New Zealand. So happy you guys get to experience it. The glowworm cave is awesome. I swam with the dolphins in the Bay of Islands. Some spectacular stuff to do while you are there. Check out the sand dunes if you get a chance. We got to crazy carpet down them! Have so much fun and be safe.
Hangi Shop in Otahu. Be careful there lol. Traditional is much better because you get a smoky flavour through your food. Plus everyone knows Hangis come with Steamed Pudding, sadly did not see any there.
You seem like a lovely couple, enjoy your stay & hope our Kiwi hospitality is up to par. We're not into fast moving, we're a laid back & chilled out kinda people.
I wish you guys were in Auckland for a little longer! You could've caught the ferry over to Waiheke Island and had a day bus hopping all around the wineries! The island is like nothing you've seen before!
New Zealand lamb is epic. Can't wait to see what you do in New Zealand. Please keep up your standards, you two know what you are doing, next year number one!
There are so many amazing craft breweries he in NZ now there’s a few definitely worth stopping by (definitely Tuatara Brewery on your way down to Wellington), and so many amazing places for food. Mojo coffee bar in Queens Arcade (lower Queen St, Auckland CBD) is awesome for a quick coffee in the morning, and Auckland is packed with AMAZING burger joints (Burger Burger; Velvet Burger; cheaper more basic places like Better Burger; Lucky Boy Burgers). If you’re around Whanganui it’s totally worth getting a jet boat ride up the Bridge to Nowhere, and some decent eating down here too (my home town). And Midnight Espresso (their vegan chocolate cake used to be amazing hopefully still is, it’s been years since I was last in Wellington having just moved back to Whanganui from Auckland) and Fidel’s cafes in Cuba St, Wellington are absolutely worth hitting up.
Pro tip guys 😁 next time you get an ice cream like that! Before you start eating, move your napkin up to just below eating level. Natural falling food saver 😊✌️💕🌈
Wow you make my country look so fun, next time you come hang out on the kapiti coast, my daughter and her partner were van lifers for a while and their van is at our house as they are in portugal
If you guys find yourself in Rotorua, be sure to check out the Maori Villages. There is Tamiki and Mitai. They offer a Traditional Maori welcome, A concert, a chance to learn Some Maori Performing arts (Kapa Haka) and eat some more traditional Maori Foods. You will be sure to get the full Maori experience!!
Glad to see that you were enjoying the lamb! When I first went to NZ in 1985 it was almost impossible to find decent lamb anywhere, all that was available was mutton, a poorer quality sheep meat, the good quality lamb meat was all exported! We went back to NZ in 2013 for a month's holiday and found that little had changed so it's good to see that now it appears to be a lot better!
Mutton? Poorer quality??? No. In the UK at least, iIt's the best sheep meat there is. It just has to be cooked loooong and slow, then the flavour is far better than lamb, and it can be just as juicy and tender. But it takes patience. Give me mutton over lamb any day.
Hi guys, I am from NZ as was born and bred in Hamilton NZ and have been moving around so much and that there is so much variety of cafes, restaurants etc. Good to see that you will enjoy NZ as they say some of NZ is great for not just the food as they are good for their activities that are provided. Hoping you will make it worthwhile xx Lamb and venison in NZ can be expensive yet it is worth having as well as the hokey pokey is great sort of ice cream. I miss my days of summer eating ice cream and more. Love hangis in NZ.
Loveee this!! The food here looks incredible but hang on - did you two sit in the same seat in the café? at 3.00 your background looks the exact same as Alison's!
OMG! I love lamb! And it is not so easy to get *good* lamb in the USA. Sometimes it is great; sometimes it sucks. I wish I was in NZ with you now, just for the food. LOL I am so glad I get to travel with you guys here online, now that those long trips are a bit of a problem for poor old me. LOL Thanks for posting your wonderful videos. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
You should try seeing if there are any homesteaders or local small farms near you. That's probably the only way you'll get Quality meat. Unless you are able to, and do, raise it yourself of course :)
Wayne D-- If you have a Cash & Carry store near you they carry some excellent cuts of New Zealand lamb. I used to buy racks of lamb by the case from there when I was the chef at a private hunting club.
I'm a kiwi and live in New Zealand. I love lamb but we don't get the best lamb here because the highest quality gets exported :( Tip Top brand hokey pokey ice cream that you can buy from Supermarkets is the traditional best.

Tim tams are for aussies also
Yeah Giapo is overpriced crap tbh
Sarah , wrong! Marmite is for poms, been in the country long?
Yeah but it's not plain Vanilla. It looks like it but has a hokey pokey flavour. And if you don't like Peanut butter don't get a Picnic bar. ITS GROSS
