The hill decent feature in X mode will hold the vehicle to whatever speed it is doing when you lift your foot off the brake to start the descent. So it is totally controllable. I have heard other reviewers say it picks it's own speed, but that is total rubbish. If you lift off the brake at 5 km/h it will hold that speed all the way down. I have a 2.0 2021 XV with CVT and use this feature when necessary. Obviously these reviewers haven't fully investigated how it works. The paddle shifters are really useful for temporarily using engine braking on long declines without going into manual mode. I've never found the 2.0 litre motor lacking. Great car. Cheers Rob

I have the Sport version and don’t mind the CVT at all. Most people wouldn’t even know it’s not a regular automatic. My mileage has been outrageous good. Last 3 refills over 560 miles in range and 36 MPG, 35 MPG and so far on this tank 38.8 with 380 miles traveled so far.

@@anormalhickgamer5782 Not yet unfortunately but I'm hoping by March 🤞. That sucks on the wait for delivery man but at least you got it locked down. What state did you order yours in?

Thank you, I was looking for mpg on your model as I've just ordered one. Now I have to wait 12 weeks for it to come in.

It's not about speed and drag racing. In the inland North West you need a vehicle that can transverse the terrain and the snow. The Crosstrek is the perfect vehicle for driving up here. It's about practicality.

I've driven an automatic most my life, just bought a Crosstrek, and I actually find it smoother than all the vehicles I owned previously.

Never thought the 2.0 liter was weak. After 6 years in Limited trim, it takes off like a banshee bit on the gonads and strife. Solid, forward, zero stray, all and everything earth flat mode attacking anything.

Me neither, its perfectly fine for normal driving.

I have a 2023 2.0L 6 speed and it tears through trails, steep incline, steep decent, mud, sand, everything. I haven't felt the need to flog anything to death to get the most out of the engine either so your comments seem unfounded in my experience at least. Maybe with a CVT behind it the 2.0 is a pig but with a manual it's perfectly fine. It would have been cool if they offered manual for the 2.5 sport in America but for some reason they don't even though you can get them in Canada. That said I feel like a 2.0 with a manual vs a 2.5 with a CVT are probably very close in wheel horsepower considering how automatic transmissions rob engines of power.

A Crosstrek will offroad. It just isn't going to mud like a pickup, or rockcrawl like a Wrangler. The plastic bumpers are low and fragile compared to something like steel bumpers on a Wrangler.
I have AT tires, a winch, and skids for my Crosstrek. A rear diff-locker is next.

You can have those goofy paddles, I'm buying a 6 speed manual, yeah only getting the 2.0 but I think the manual zaps less power out of it anyway

Good that it has a donut shaped spare tire as compared to a square shape !

Why does everyone complain about the cvt? You should consider yourself lucky this vehicle is so affordable for the utility alone

Subaru has put the rear vents under the front seats since the 80s.

Preorder the 2023 Sport in plasma yellow. Can't wait. I just need mild off roadie capability. So this will do just fine. Plus you get lane assist and adaptive cruise control. So much tech for a great price.

Lowest spec model here in europe is 1.6 litre non turbo with 84hp. Horrible. And the 2 litre eboxer is the highest spec.
I would honestly love one of these cars, but the price to performance ratio when compared to local or other Japanese cars is just not there unfortunately.

Great review! Any idea how one goes about u upgrading the sports headlight system to LED? I dont know if shops do that work or if its a DIY kind of project

If you have one with reflectors I'd recommend just finding some quality led 'bulbs' with the original fixtures

The headlights absolutely suck, thats my 1 big complaint with it.

    • @danielfair4675
      @danielfair4675 ปีที่แล้ว

@Sam Smith the only problem you'll run into as far as upgrading to LED's ..... cost.
Not only to have someone to do it, but if you have one go out it's not just as easy as replacing the bulb. You have to do the entire headlight unit, and the cost just for it is in excess of $800. Plus labor to put it in. And that $800 is per headlight.

The vents go under the seats in Canada. So there are rear vents here….
The Manual is the one for drivers. And even the 2.0 feels better and stronger than the 2.5 with the 6 speed. Also, it off roads better and you get more power delivered with a manual. The CVT bogs out….

Acually the whole point of a cvt is to deliver the power at its best efficiency

So, you buy a Crosstek for its mild poor 4x4 capabilities but with an uggly 80s appearance. I dont get the point of this vehicle. I would feel like a guy that has a low ride truck but wants to off roading on weekends in his back yard hahaha..

I’m ordering one today. I surf and drive on the beach all the time. My 2WD Sequoia gets stuck every now and then. This should do much better. It gets solid mpg, has a low roof for loading boards, good ground clearance and AWD, and it is crazy cheap for all that. What car can beat all of those qualities?

I don't get why people watch videos about things they hate. Everyone has a different opinion. I don't like mini cooper's just saying. So why would I want to go watch a video on a cooper? I don't. So what do you drive Mr Jose M?
