    I really like that you're finally going to Turkey because there is A TON of food in Turkey that should be discovered by westerners, because they only know about kebab. But, my one critique is, you did the whole thing in Istanbul. Which is still better than none, don't get me wrong, but that's like going to London to try English street foods or Berlin to try all German street food. Most of the things in Istanbul are nice, and clean, and proper, but they are mostly imitations. If you want to eat the real thing, you need to go where those foods come from. I hope one day you will do a full tour of Turkey like you have done to so many other countries.

      Which parts of Turkey would you recommend to visit if someone has already been to Istanbul but want real feel of Turkish culture and of course food too? Also, do locals welcome tourists there?

    • @Yarenoglu
      @Yarenoglu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@voiceofutube I would highly recommend going to Karadeniz (Black Sea) region. Their food is underrepresented. You can go all the way from Istanbul and follow the coast all the way to north east of the country and reach Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, and Rize. The scenery is mind blowing, the prices are super cheap (compared to the touristy areas), the culture is very unique, the local dialect has ancient Greek (Pontus) leftover and rich history, the food is delicious (they love seafood especially whitebait), and they also have very unique traditional music and dances. Also, pretty much everywhere in Turkey they welcome tourists. I'd only advise maybe not going too much to South East regions, not because the people are not friendly, but because there is sometimes trouble with terrorism in that area. But these days it's not as bad as it was like 10 years ago.

    Best Ever deserves a major foodie award as they show the love, the care and the spirit that goes into simple, yet complex and the best tasting foods.
    In scouts did a pit oven and we sort of had conflicts of how to spice things up and instead, wanted to see what happened without anything. We used a Purdue Oven Stuffer Chicken. Wrapped it in foil and did our pit against the troops cook's objections. Seven hours later, Aubrey said it was not done and no one except the fools are to eat it! We poked the foil and the bird completely collapsed. Now declared done, me and my friend grabbed our choice bits, and with 30 people grabbing it, gone in less than 60 seconds.
    What blew our minds, it was the best tasting meat, and nothing had to be done to it. We never told anyone, but we stuck the bag of other stuff in and it mixed with everything and no one knew. The ancients and people needing to survive got everything right! All the modern culinary pursuits are to recreate that experience.

    After watching Istanbul episodes, it seems pointless to go to another city to eat. The city comes with a proposal for every taste. If Turkish people did not have a language barrier and had a Hollywood-style advertising policy, 100 million tourists would easily have passed, especially with these currency prices.

But compared to France, Spain, Italy and the US ahead of it, ad marketing is horrendously bad. That's what I was trying to say. Generally, people think that Türkiye consists only of Istanbul, Antalya and Cappadocia, which shows that there is no marketing strategy. On the other hand, it is very nice that foreign influencers come and introduce Türkiye, I hope Türkiye gets the place it deserves in the eyes of the whole world.

      A lot of people think it's the same as Greece. Westerners arguably prefer Greece as it holds a sort of mythical status as the cradle of western civilization. Shame though they're really missing out with Turkey right next door. Sorry Greece but Turkish food is simply miles better.

    • @aktanozkan159

      @@canchero724 The food culture of each country is good for itself. We have lived in common with our neighbor Greece for centuries. For this reason, Turkish cuisine has received a lot of influence from Greek cuisine, and Greek cuisine from Turkish cuisine. However, Turkish cuisine is a cuisine inspired not only by Greek cuisine, but also by Mesopotamian cuisine, the Caucasus and of course Central Asia, which is exactly what makes Turkish cuisine unique. Since I come from a family that migrated to Türkiye from Greece in the early 1900s, I send my greetings to our Greek neighbours.

They are all tasty, but if you want something more unique, you should go to the locations (central Anatolia-Turkey) where these foods originate from and try their authentic flavors there. You're likely to savor their flavors even more by experiencing them in their authentic birthplaces.
