I had two leather motorcycle jackets that I keep hanging in my garage pretty covered with mildew. I saw a tip on TH-cam for removing mildew. Warm water mixed with lemon juice. About 90% water 10% lemon juice. it worked like a miracle. It completely removed the mildew growing on those jackets as fast as I could wipe with a small sponge. That also got rid of the smell. It removed that mildew like wiping a black chalkboard with a wet sponge. Just that fast.
Hi there I have bought a leather bag made of goat hide. It smells like a farm or like cow manure and I can't stand it is there anything I can do? Thank you so much❤
I bought a pleather couch second-hand from a lovely east indian couple, and it has a curry type smell on it, would this method of using white vinegar work to help with that smell?
Vinegar is highly acidic, which enables it to kill bacteria and also remove smells effectively, I highly recommend that you give it a try, you can also check our blog for more tips on how to maintain your sofa clean :)
My gal is a dancer. She practices everyday and once she starts to sweat she gets cold. She has this leather jacket well kinda, it has more sleeves than body. Anyways she puts it on and soon the jacket is sweating as much as her. And by morning it smells. BAD. In the past I have taken them and tried everything and wound up burning it. Is there any way to stay outta the dog house? Jeez, the jacket she has now is about to get the gas bath and match dry.
i was at this party where a lot of people smoked weed and now my jacket smells like weed and i don't want smell like weed all the time so what is the best way to remove the smell from my jacket
I bought a leather office bag for men it smells like a bit like fish. Can I put it near an open window I live in a apartment and it's raining what should I do.i put some cologne on it but it still smell a little bit like fish. Any ideas
Hi Boris, you can mix a solution of equal parts vinegar and water, then use a clean cloth (microfiber cloths are great for this) to wipe the leather. As your cloth begins to pick up the dirt from the leather, wring it out or swap it for another clean cloth. You can also put the solution in a spray bottle to spritz the leather , then wipe it clean with a cloth.
What if your leather chair REALLY stinks? Like chemical smell? I left it outside in Vegas summer blasting sun for days!! So hot you couldnt touch the thing. Ha ha, still stinks, even worse if possible. It is years old, too. But recently got worse as the summer dragged along.
Hey there! As per the video, it's good to have sunlight but not direct sun or heat as this will end up damaging the leather - be it genuine or faux. Ultimately it really depends on the main cause of the smell, was it because of wear and tear, bodily fluids accumulated over the years? This would mean a lot of deep cleaning is needed as per the earlier tips of the video. If it was a single accident that happened e.g. dog pooped on the couch, baby vomit -- these are usually a bit harder to clean, will take time and definitely shouldn't be exposed to heat. Generally the steps are the same: remove the main source of smell, clean accordingly (to faux leather or real leather instructions), and leave it to dry it should be fine. Hope this helps!

I bought the chair second hand, I'm not sure if it is genuine leather though. It smells sweet, what would be the best way to go?

Mix vinegar with baking soda and spray a light coating over it all. Next, wrap it in newspaper for 72hrs. Repeat this method 2 or 3 times
🤣
vinegar is also very acidic and can damage and crack leather overtime. dont know why people recommend using vinegar as it is damaging to leather.
@@nikolay-1262 because it otherwise reeks and one would opt to trash the smelly leather.
Can we use these methods on a faux leather jacket? 🤔
yes you can

Yes! Just sprinkle baking soda on the couch, leave it overnight and vacuum it up the next day :)
No, mix with vinegar and spray, then wrap with newspaper for 72 hours and repeat up to 3 times

Wait..white vinegar is also smelly,right.. Will it stink ?
White vinegar has a distinctly strong smell, however, it will dissipate as soon as it dries! :)
Tried the vinegar-didn’t work. Now my leather couch smells like vinegar and the body odour of last night’s guest. Gross.
What did you and last nights guest do on that thing!!!????
@ They sat down on the couch, without me.
i tried this on my sofa and it still gives me a headache

Does this work for cat pee on faux leather couches?
We would recommend using the baking soda hack to first soak up as much cat pee as possible before using the other methods to deodorizing your couch.
