I have adhd and I started taking concerta recently. It has been really helpful watching your videos. Thank you for your research based contribution to the topic, which is so valueble when there are so many unsuported claims about adhd on the internet.
Hey doc just wondering if you have any experience using amantadine for ADHD and if so what your opinion of it is. If you think there’s enough for a full video I’d be interested considering there’s nothing on TH-cam. My doctor seemingly is going to have me try every non-stimulant known to man before prescribing a stimulant.
None of the individuals I work with who tried it noticed any improvement in their ADHD symptoms. Based on its mode of action, it should help some people. I know that others recommend it, so I will look into the published research to see if there is enough information out there to make a video.
I’m at my wits end with ADHD and adderall rx 30mg/12 years. I’m 72 years old. At one point I was taken off abruptly and it was horrible. Although I was put back on I had horrible cognitive impairment for three years. I am considering titrating down, because there seem to be constant problems with filling my Rx and when it goes on for several days it throws me into kind of bipolar like cycles. So I’m scared to reduce but having it in my life is increasingly becoming a more severe tendency to cause psych problems if I have to go without. Any suggestions?
If you are in the US, I have seen a marked decrease in problems with Adderall shortages in the last two months, so perhaps that in itself may reduce some of the problems. I can't make direct patient recommendations, but in general slow tapering is usually not very traumatic, and stepping down by 5 mg at a time in the early stages may be a reasonable approach. Adderall XR comes in a variety of doses.

Thank you, I appreciate hearing that.
Great video! Thank you so much for the information and insight !
The sensitization concept is interesting. Does this mean vaping and smoking can create psuedo adhd?
Certainly seems possible to me.

Could concerta at moderate dosages put you at risk of withdrawal. I would get a re-bound effect going off Ritalin after 5-6 pm. It wasn't nice.
It is certainly possible, but considerably less likely than with the immediate release forms of methylphenidate.
