    New Update: The car was crashed and scrapped a couple years ago. This Badass Beast transmission is out there in the salvage parts system. If anyone cares and comments about getting it, I'll give you this car's VIN to your're sure that you're getting the right unit.

    Awesome video! I am checking out how hard this job is because my son's car is going to need it done. Honda uses the "lifetime" filter which means when it clogs the transmission's "life" is up. Thank you my friend.

      +Ray Reed Glad I can help out, Ray. I also have videos up of the fist time I had this trans apart (which was much worse than this) that you might want to check out. Feel free to post any questions you have about this job and I'll competently answer whatever I can.

    Quick update on this: I recently hit 20k miles since this video (231k on car), and it's still going strong. I regularly push this transmission as hard as I can without outright abusing it, and it has been responding well a couple years now. It grabs 2nd gear really firm but gentile, which lends itself perfectly for full throttle 0-50 mph to join/merge with traffic.

      Great to hear! I'm about to tackle this job on my 2000 BAXA as well. Any tips for a newbie? I'm doing the superior kit as well.

    New update April 16, 2021: This is still going strong with no issues at 253k miles now. I really love the car, largely because of how this trans is performing under daily use during all NY seasons for years. The body is rotted enough that it will break soon, but the OE engine and my rebuilt trans are strong.

      Do You have a link to the full kit You used? Does this also work on the B7XA for the accord 2000 with the j3a01 engines?

    Great videos Where do you get those replacement bearings for the diff and internal flat roller bearings?

    • @Fopeano
      @Fopeano  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bearings all came from the dealer. Aftermarket trans suppliers don't list any hard parts for these Hondas last I looked.

    Could you please tell what tool you used to press the bearing onto the differential at the 25:34 mark?

    Bbbbbiiiiiigggggg thanks mate. I am doing this coming weekend on my my 2000 F23 accord maxa transmission. It jerks when i come to a stop. Hope overhauling valve body fixes that. Just a question. Is making bigger hole in the valve body plate necessory??
    I am doing it first time in life so a bit nurves.. any tips you wanna share??
    Thanks in advance

      Only drill out the spacer plates if a shift kit you are installing directs you to do so. As far as cleaning up sticking valves, just maintain the patience of a saint and don't overdo it while trying to hurry.

    What caused the seconded tear down to take place ?
    Did the Trans lab updated valve body fix the diff bearing premature failure ?

    • @Fopeano
      @Fopeano  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The second teardown took place because of the diff noises I was hearing over a 2 week period.
      The Translab kit is great. I'm still daily driving the car and have just noticed possible shifting issues rarely/maybe, and only during full throttle/maximum beating situations. The diff it still soilid, may have been a defective bearing. But still, it was quiet with the original problems and I may have a quiet metal debris situation that is affecting movement of whatever valve is responsible for those symptoms. If it's a problem, I have to let it get worse before I make it into another project. I will make a video of whenever that project happens.

    Fopeano, I rebuilt my BAXA 2 yrs ago, replaced the Torque converter and used the older TransLab kit (only came with a PSI regulating valve, ). After rebuilding, if I come to a stop quickly, it slams into first. But if I roll up to a stop slowly the shift into first can't be felt. Does it mostly when it has warmed up.
    Also between 35 and 45 it has a RPM flux. I can let off the gas or give it more gas to stop the flux.
    Any ideas as to what would cause this?
    Thanks

      I'm stumped so far, but I've been thinking about it. I'll post another reply if I figure anything out. I need to do some research on it at work when I get a chance.

      Hi charles watts, did you get your problem solved? I have same ditto problem in my MAXA transmission.

  • @johnjoseph7382

    did you remember to check the clearance of the differential ?

    • @Fopeano
      @Fopeano  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I chose not to check it, and rifled another set of diff bearings in based on the old setup. That set has outlasted the set from the the first rebuild at this point. The bearings themselves can be counted on to be the same size everytime. It's the case assembly as a whole that dictates the need for a shim and it's thickness. Even though though one of the bearings failed, I still chalk it up to part defect or installation error. The shim is the right one for my case assembly and I feel I can trust it as long as the assembly stays the same.

    In general this Honda transmission is one of the worst transmissions I have ever used .
    Even using any other transmission fluid but not genuine Honda will destroy it and make your life a hell! !!
    Totally headache

      I'll tell you though... All fixed up and upgraded, it drives and holds up beatings great. For someone like me with this being my first automatic daily, it's ended up being the most like a stick shift (as far as controlling what gear it's in) that a older automatic can be.
