    Always use a torque wrench to tighten filter housing and sump plug. The spec is 25nm.

    "Shell Helix AG" oil not for this car. Should be "Shell Helix ECT C3" BMW LL-04 !!!
    Capacity 5.2l usually 5l will be ok.

      Thank's for that. My owners manual specifies C3 or C4 oils, but does not give more detail than that.

    In 0:45 make sure before applying force undoing the sump plug plastic cover to unscrew the 10mm screw that holds it in place.

    Those yellow ramps I can see; are they a DIY solution (made from planks of wood) or did you buy them? And if so where from?

    • @hosuandreiremus
      @hosuandreiremus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Made them from some scrap wood I had.

    for what is that copper ring?

    • @hosuandreiremus
      @hosuandreiremus  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hat is a copper washer. Copper is a fairly soft metal and it crushes to for a seal. it is beater to use copper instead of rubber rings because the rubber tends to degrade over time and cause leaks.

      When have you last changed it? Are you sure you have the correct level of oil? Does it show on the dip stick and not on the dash?

    dont follow what he done.... his car wasn't straight he has minimum 1 litre left in the oil chamber *(used oil )
    this days anyone cand change oil and filters... well not correctly at the end you end up with less mileage on a change...
    if any of you plain to change oil... please dont do it following this video because is all wrong, Cheers

      I agree, but I was doing this on my driveway and I don't benefit from a car lift. BMW oil drain interval is 18000 miles. I do my own oil drain in between the dealer service, and I do it with the limited tools I have.

    • @CitizenSlide
      @CitizenSlide 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This method is not ‘all wrong’; but I always lower the car off the jacks when draining the sump and use a vacuum pump inserted through the dipstick tube to remove any further used oil, then jack the car back up again to replace the sump plug and shield. My identical car has now covered 210,000 miles and runs well with only a timing chain replacement at 170,000 miles.

    • @hosuandreiremus
      @hosuandreiremus  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you replace the timing chain as a preventative measure? Or did it give you indications tahat it needs changing?

    • @arlind530d
      @arlind530d 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just Fix It f10 520d doesn’t give indications it just breaks when the chain is loose enough, mine broke on 150k km about 95k miles
