    I've to say THANK YOU to the british Car Magazin about that very great Alfa Romeo 156 Test Review, because they really told the TRUTH about the 156....
    I'm from Germany, Bavaria...& For me it is a big shame about the German car Reviews/Press like the "Axel Springer Verlag"(what is Auto Bild & the most of the other Magazines of car Reviews)... It's a shame, because they're even telling bullshit and the ever same bad things "of Alfa" since the 1970s😅😂😂 they NEVER look at the revolutonary things what came up with & in the Alfa Romeo 156. I can tell you that the 156 is the best Saloon/Sedan in its class for many many years and even today it looks very beautiful and timeless. A slightly modified Alfa Romeo 156 has the highest corner speeds, the Most dynamic cornering and even especially with the 2.4 JTD 20V multi-jet 5 cylinder this car is soo fu.... fast, and crazy about its over 210hp & nearly 500NM. It's faster than every German 3.0 liters Diesel Cars like an BMW 330d or something else like that. This 2.4 engines make more than 500.000km without any work on the Motor. Even with the 1st Turbo, 1st Clutch, 1st ... And without any oil consumption with more than 500.000km, even driven very very sportive! I had 4 Alfa Romeo 156 with the 2.4JTD. everyone had more than 500.000km and i only sold it because i would another new car, but then it was even a new 156 with 2.4jtd or Busso V6😂😂 i had many different cars like BMW E36 328i, or E30 325i M Technik 1 &&&... But the 156 is the best car in its class, especially when you're a very sportive driver!
    I know every bolt and part of the 156, i repair all by myself in those cars. And i drive it in Motorsport conditions alldays. Yes, all the Bad Things told by german Auto Bild or something else like that are so false, so different to the reality of the 156. I can tell you, the 156 is this Alfa Romeo what stands for this Brand especially in Motorsport. Because the 156 is with the BMW E30 the Most successful Touring Car. In the Touring Car Championships like the WTCC, BTCC,...the 156 was very close to the ordinary stock car. And you can get that Motorsport feelings in the 156 especially when you only use lowered sport springs Like Eibach springs, combinated with 8.5J 17-18" with 225/40/18 & you really get a high speeds cornering Car. Then when you use a 156 with the 2.4 JTD, or the grandiose "Busso/ Arese V6" with 2.5 liters, especially modifyed with a 3.0 V6 24V out of an 166... Then you really get a high sportive, very very fast Car with an feeling and look what No other car in this class could give you.
    The 156 is a milestone, and it's very underrated what is soo false!

      10 Years ago, I bought my second 156 1.8. It already was 10 year old. The right color, red. I have had hardly any costs, and before some idiots set fire to it last April, the car looked like it just came brand new out of the showroom. So it went for scrap. Last May, i bought a dark grey 2004 JTS 2.0 Progression latest front facelift). It's done 230.000 on the clock. It drives even better than my former Alfa's (all together my 4th, as the first was a 155. This week, I took the car for general inspection to my Alfa garage, no rust below, or wherever. Distribution was replaced last year. Up till now, oil level remained ok, as was the case with the 1.8. My first 156, was a 1.6, which strangely enough, had a high fuel consumption. When I see the car in front of my home, between young BMW cars, it's still an 'up to date model'. Including some cosmetic repairs, it cost me € 2000,--.

      @@scrabsdead when you love the tiny 1.6L TS, i can't tell you what U do if you get a Alfa Romeo 156 with the ARESE V6, especially when it was a 156 2.5 V6 24V Euro 2 Version, modified & equipped with an 3.0 V6 24V out of an 166 ;) that's the King of the Kings. Faster than any GTA or BMW E36 M3 or something else like that. And really nothing else has that Beautyful looking and sounding engine under the hood (or Bonnet i britsh english i think :) )
      I've sold it and i'm still Not really sure about if my change it to an 2006 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona with 5.7L HEMI V8 was really good.... I could do that only because i've still an 2003 Alfa Romeo 156 with the 2.4 JTD 20V as an Ti, modified with novitec black Box, 18×8.5 Tomason TN1 Wheels and eibach springs... The inline 5 cylinder is a kind of an Engine, on of really few Diesel Engines that has an amazing Sound because the 5th cylinder makes that big difference. And it's so fast in acceleration like an GTA. At Nürburgring Nordschleife was an Alfa Romeo 147 equipped with this kind of 2.4 JTD 20V what has raced many Porsche 911s and many many more super Sport Cars in the 24h Race and got something like the ~30th place over all what is really amazing, especially because it was an tiny private Race Team what has done that all. The 2.4 JTD's are the best choice over all, because they're Solid like a Rock, so durable that i can't tell you any other Car/engine what is so durable, sporty & also with this great engineering and also Sound about Diesels. The Sound is better than the most inline 4 Gas powered engines. It's even because it's an inline 5 cylinder. And the 20V Version in the 156 is so durable like the early 10V Versions, but needs 4.5L/100km only and in Race conditions Not more than 8.5L/100km what's really amazing.
      I had 4 Alfa 156 with 2.4 JTD that had 450.000-850.000km in the Combi, all with the 1st never opened engine, 1st Turbo, 1st Clutch, 1st gearbox & hasn't any Motoroil leak or consumption. And instead the different V6 Alfa 156 i had, the 2.4 JTD's doesn't got so correct oil changes or was drifen so exactly long until the wather temp was artived, and they saw also winter use in the bavarian Alps with under -27°C and a Lot of snow + the Motorsport use, often daily max speeds over 240km/h & msny many more hard conditions.....all the 2.4 JTD's saw hard, very very ruff conditions and they was all great sehen i've sold it...so i can't sell my 03 156 2.4jtd 20V TI, because i know there isn't any other Car that is so durable, and also so amazing to drive and look at it. The only parts what i've to Change permanent are the alles between the gearbox/diff to the wheels. This axles are durable, but the tripod bearings get often a internal explosion, i think especially because the 500NM are a little much for it. But the Alfa Romeo 156 with eibach springs and 17-18" rims +215-225 wide tires are perfect to Drive, because there isn't any understeering like the most FWD Cars especially from VW/Audi has. So i can tell you that they've a perfect balance to drive it at the limits on dry roads, without any understeering or something bad things. That's the biggest amazing thing, especially because the 2.4 JTD is the most heavy kind of engine in the 156, and there isn't any understeering. Nobody beleave it until He/she drove it ;) because most people know only these really Bad FWD Cars from VW Audi.

    120bhp and 142mph hahaha, thats specs from 1.6, and she said that entry level 156 is 1.8 hahaha its 1.6!!!!! the one she gave specs for, and really high resale value OMG WTF... no wonder Hammond made it to BBC and she didn't lol. But it is the best car in the world (for 1000euro) to drive. I am on the second one now, 164 before that

    • @WeweGT404
      @WeweGT404 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Those who know their Alfas will point out that the 1.6 wasn't launched here til 2000 so 1.8 actually was entry level when the film was made. I never saw a 1.8 that would do 142 mph... Resales were initially very good, with long waiting lists for new cars. The personal import trend hurt prices eventually, and the car was quite quickly facelifted. These points plus the fact that company car drivers do not understand the concept of opening the bonnet and topping up the oil, coupled with crankshaft and early cambelt failures led to the eventual, and predictable, shunning by the trade. Nevertheless there is no denying that it was a very successful model for Alfa, a huge step forward from the characterful but ineffective 155, and the replacement, the 159, had comparatively little success. I have owned nine 156s, I still have my '99 V6, it has 87k, has been completely trouble free, lovely to drive and look at, and it is worth so little that I don't need to contemplate selling it, especially with fuel prices having dropped (for the moment..). Laugh away..

      Yes that was a mistake. No street car with 120bhp reaches 142 mph hahaha. My 156 with 1.8TS petrol engine and 144bhp reaches 130mph.

      I'm sure a well kept top version (GTA) is worth more than that. You can get one for 2.000 yeah, but not a good one.

      João Pedro Silva Well that V6 burns gasoline like a modern supercar and people here say they aren't very reliable. But one reason for that might be Finland's cold climate, after all these were designed in warm Italy. They say you should let them run at least for 1-3 minutes after a winter cold start. The oil lines in engine are said to be pretty small, which isn't a problem in warmer climates. But as cold oil streams slower, cold starts wear the engine a lot. I don't know much, but Alfa hobbyists are really passionate about these cars, so you should look for Alfa forums. I kinda want one too. If you can get a well kept one and don't mind about gas costs then go ahead! Damn I love that V6... One of the few cheap cars that sound amazing stock, even better with sensible aftermarket exhaust. But buy at least the 2.5L V6 or GTA. Otherwise I dont see any point in owning an Alfa. It's all about that Italian passion.. ;)

      WithAllSpices thanks for your feedback, i dont plan to buy one of the powerful versions of this car because I think it "drinks" a lot of gas and I'm still a student so I cant really afford to have a car that spens too much, i was thinking about 1.9 JTD or even the 1.8 because I think it spends less fuel. about the climate i appreciate you saying what you know and theres no problem for me because I live in western Europe Portugal so our climate is a lot like italy, atleast I think it is =D
