    DIY Leather Tote Bag with FREE PATTERN (Pt. 2)
    Watch Pt. 1 Here: • DIY Leather Tote Bag w...
    We finished up our DIY Leather Tote Bag by sewing up the side seams with a saddle stitch. Saddle stitching is a traditional way of sewing leather in leather craft, and it is a simple and cost effective method of creating a strong seam.
    After sewing up the seams of our DIY Leather tote bag, we used solid brass rivets to secure the corners with an external flap like an antique coal bag. We finished off the handmade leather tote bag with a key clip detail, using a solid brass O ring on the side seam so that keys and keychains can be clipped to the leather tote bag.
    The free pattern for this tote bag can be found in the video - simply take a screen shot of the free pattern and make your own DIY Leather tote bag! We suggest using 5-8oz leather for the body, 10-12oz leather for the handles and 4-5oz leather for the pocket.

    Inspiring and beautiful build. I love how it’s several notches higher and nicer than the average tote.

    Very nice looking bag! I was waiting all week to see how you would finish the the bottom of it - great idea with the rivets, and nice touch with the key holder too!

    I built this... with a few changes. I wanted a wider bottom, I also did not have a wide enough piece of leather so I patched three pieces together to form the main piece. I made lots of mistakes but my wife is happy with it as a new lunch tote. I am going to place an order today from Weaver for some better leather. I will follow your link so hopefully you get some credit. Please keep making the videos, I watch them all. -Rick

      Good to hear, I'm sure it's beautiful! Remember there's no such thing as mistakes when you're using good quality materials because it's going to last a long, long time regardless - it's all just character that makes it unique from other bags :)

    Thanks to your video it gave me the confidence to make my first bag!! I used crazy horse leather and I am so proud of how it turned out!! I didn’t sew the seam grain to grain but I did it flesh to grain so I didn’t have to flip it. Thank you so very much for the GREAT video!!!

    Beautiful tote bag! I'm very much a beginner leather crafter (I've only made two wallets, of your designs!), but would love to make a bag like this some day. However, I haven't found a lot of information about specifically how to line a leather bag. It would be great to see a video about that on your channel!

    Thank you so much for your videos. I have made a few waxed canvas bags and backpacks, and now I would like to try your tote pattern. I would like to make this same tote, only a bit smaller. On another one of your videos you explained the formula for cutting out boxed bottoms. Is there a formula that I might use to determine how to cut this particular type of corner on my smaller bag? It isn't like other boxed bottoms because it has the flap of fabric on the outsiede.

    Hey there! You made my day. I was dying to see how it turned out. Great bag and love the keychain clip.
    Question...do you think it would also work to sew the side seams on the outside instead of on the inside. I can’t wait to try this! Thank you for doing part 2!

    • @Corter
      @Corter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! You could for sure, you'd probably want to sew them grain to fiber instead of fiber to fiber so the bag has an open shape and not a closed one - this will also make the folded bottom corners sit flush :)

    I was hoping to see you flip the bag right side out after you finished stitching. I finished a tote the other day and I went outside to my wife and her friend for the big reveal.. I hyped it up a lot and then it took me a solid 5 mins to flip it so it wasn't inside out.. Lol. I looked pretty stupid wrestling with the damn thing lol. Love your videos! The hardest thing for me, is pricing my leather items. How much would you charge for a tote like that?
