That would be very counter-productive right now.
It is too late for the kids who died in that hospital. It isn't too late for the kids that survived that attack who might not survive the next one if we don't send air defenses as quickly as possible. And while we are at it, we should not be holding Ukraine back from hitting the airfields used to launch these attacks.

@@timothykatende8484 When Putin (or his replacement) is ready for peace, he can withdraw his troops to actual Russian territory and begin negotiating. He can probably even get a ceasefire for a safe retreat. Until then, talk of peace is meaningless.

One of the most effective air defenses are F-22's.
The US Air Force has been openly discussing plans to retire its most potent air superiority fighter, the F-22 Raptor, in favor of its next fighter in development. And while the exact timeline remains somewhat murky, the fact of the matter remains: The reign of the Raptor is coming to an end. Despite being the best in its role, the Pentagon decided to buy only 186 aircraft out of the intended 750. Furthermore, Congress shut the door to any prospective buyers, forbidding Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer, from ever selling the aircraft abroad. Of the 186 F-22 Raptors delivered to the Air Force, only about 130 were ever operational. As a result, today, the Raptor is a bird facing extinction. Although current operational numbers are classified, it wouldn’t be irrational to assume that fewer than 100 F-22s are combat-ready at any given time, and every time a Raptor flies, it’s one less time it will fly in the future because of the lack of spare parts. In 2011, the last Raptor rolled off the production line, and Lockheed Martin cannibalized its production line to support the F-35.
The F-16s will get there. Maybe in 10 years or so...

The US must stop imposing restrictions on Ukraine when it comes to the fighting. Imagine if the US has restrictions imposed on it when the Japanese attacked tgem in WW2, such as you can't attack Japan

NATO led by the US is not an honest player. The US will provide (or allowed to be supplied by other countries) air defence systems to shoot down missiles over Ukraine but specifically denies it the ability to take out the sources of those missiles across the border with russia. NATO cannot be effective whilst it is incapable of identifying and outcome and working consistently to achieve it.

You have to remember what NATO is. Its not a military pact. It's a nuclear insurance policy. Anyone under it's umbrella is safe from nuclear bullying from the likes of Russia and China and probably Iran and North Korea within a few years. Thats all. They aren't in the empire building business. Thats why they are hated by those four countries.

At the NATO Summit held on July 10, 2024, US President Joe Biden pledged the support of NATO to Ukraine against Russia's Putin's "war of aggression". Biden said the US, Germany, Netherlands, Romania, and Italy will provide Ukraine with five additional strategic air defence systems. The US, Germany, and Romania will each provide a Patriot battery of their own, while the Netherlands will work with other countries to enable an additional Patriot battery. Meanwhile, Italy would also provide a SAMP-T long-range air defence system. Norway will donate six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, reports said, citing the Norwegian PM at the NATO summit in Washington. British PM Keir Starmer indicated that Ukraine can use long-range missiles supplied by UK to strike military targets in Russia during their war. "Putin wants nothing less -- nothing less than Ukraine's total subjugation," Biden said in his welcome address. Biden's speech at NATO came a day after Russia conducted strikes across Ukraine, including a strike on children's hospital in Kyiv.
