      @@bestdayevermtb2 so I'm 80% keen to get a bike but what sort of maintenance do you need to do after a ride? or is it just a clean and plug the battery in?

    • @bestdayevermtb2
      @bestdayevermtb2  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Wafe_NZ In some ways yes. Saying that E bikes will cost money to maintain. They go through chains and cassettes faster. I clean and lube the chain after every ride. You will also need to service the suspension and seat post. That is true for ay mountain bike. It is not a cheap sport but still a lot cheaper than maintaining a motor cross bike or having a boat.

    Great review Lance, looks like a really solid option, lightweight alternative to the full fat. My Rail is a pig to ride with the motor off, and definitely some resistance over 32 kmh. 100% with you on the junction box indicator, perhaps Orbea could partner with Garmin and sell as a bundle

    • @bestdayevermtb2

      My KTM is no fun to ride without motor either. The funny thing is although I say the orbea rides similar to a normal bike without the motor on it still sucks. After riding an e bike a steam bike feels terrible to me.

    Hi Lance, a nice review, I ended up buying the M10 version of this bike, sold on the 60 nm, 18.5 kg, power to weight ratio. I'm well over 100 kg, I'm getting around 65km's in undulating hard pack terrain mainly on trail, a bit of eco and the odd pinch climb on turbo. Iv'e stepped up trail and boost power a notch . With lot's of climbing I''m getting around 35-40 km's over 2.5 hours which seems to be plenty of run time. I've also noted clipping the pedals on occassion and thinking that my fat arse coud do with a few spacers in the suspension. I've connected the bike to the iphone which helps with the inital ride anxiety and now just ride with it in my pocket, pulling it out 2.5 hours into my ride to see if I can get one more run in. I'm also not a fan of the colour.

    • @bestdayevermtb2
      @bestdayevermtb2  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you are enjoying the bike. Certainly dropping down the power increases the range hugely. I must admit most of my rides are under 30km. I talk about long rides but we talk too much to get very far.

    Great review Lance! I have ordered my M20 model from the new Queenstown distributer, will be here in September ish. I am selling me full fat emtb as i never get out of eco and sometimes trail. Everything from my YT Jeffsy is swapping straight over, so putting EXT coil and Lyric ultimate's 160 travel on the front. The way i see the rise as a true hybrid, emtb and analog in one. I have not been this excited about a bike for a long time. Thanks again for the great review Lance.

      Hi Finn. You make a lot of sense. I must admit I liked the bike but would prefer more suspension and like your idea. Of course the bike would get heavier especially if you put bigger tires on it. I think this bike will suit a lot of people. A friend of mine said this is how we should have made e bikes from the start. He of course wanted more travel as well. I think mountain bikes are all about compromise which is why we have XC and DH bikes. Everyone wants something different.

    awesome review! makes me even more excited for mine to arrive in a few weeks, i have to agree about the display, for what is an expensive bike, that thing kinda sucks. there is an option from orbea to put the e8000 display on though for around 200 pound if wanted but i suppose the idea was to keep it minimalistic!

Given a choice between a light weight bike and a longer travel bike with bigger battery and more powerful motor I would choose the later. I know from experience if you ride with a group of e bikers you don't want the smallest battery and motor especially if you are not the fittest. What is your definition of average person. Average fitness, average skill, rides average length rides? I have ridden both bikes and both are great bikes. I think the Rise will actually suit a lot of average riders who just want to do trail rides without hitting up up big jumps. I meet lots of people who have full power e bikes but mostly ride in echo. A lighter bike with a bit less power would suit them well. My wife is very small. A full power e bike is half her weight. She struggles to handle this. A lighter bike with less suspension makes great sense for her.

      I was thinking average skill level (male) rider where the weight difference isn't going to be that noticeable assuming they weigh at least 175 lbs

    You made two videos about his bike, and in both you lie about the weight of that bike, this bike is around 17.9 kilos. it’s not the LTD, it’s not even the team, and frankly it’s pretty obvious when you try to lift it, why do you do this ? it’s annoying, you clearly don’t care about being credible, you just want to sell bikes, but even then WHAT Does it cost you to saut hat only the LTD weighs under 17 kilos ??

      Firstly I did not make two videos. The first video you saw was made by Bike Lab but used footage of me. This video was made by me and gives my opinion of the bike. The guy's from Bike lab brought the bike up to Woodhill for me to try out. I knew the top of the range came in at 16.5kg and asked them how much this one weighed. They said they weighed it at 16.5 kg. It felt very light so went with that information. I don't sell bikes and get no benefit if any of these bikes sell. I was not paid to make the video. I enjoy making videos as a hobby. This is not how I make a living. I am not a professional but do my best with my limited resources. I do object to being called a liar. I had the bike for a week and showed it to many people who of course picked it up. All of them were amazed at how light it was and not one person said. This bike is clearly heavier than 16.5kg.

      Hey pizza dude. If you don't like the channel or content then don't watch it. If you watch enough of the videos on this channel it's pretty easy to figure out that lance is not a pro making a living from this but someone who brings an easy going level to the content he provides. Take from the info what you want but don't have a go because some of the stat's aren't 100%. Go do the research yourself if you think the figures aren't quite right. You'll find more real info and experience on this channel than any LBS will be able to provide you any day when it comes to ebikes.
