@CT-ho6si haha yeah this is why I don't review plugins. Leave that to the other guys. My approach is more. I'll use it for a couple days working out if it's a worthwhile upgrade then give my honest opinion on it.
Hi, Paul, thank you for your update. Despite hype, I updated like no brainer. I think it also is amazing update for you because of dolby atomos as well. Cheers
@JohnSk82 I've always wondered how can you improve something that's already perfect. The features they've added are huge improvements that make this the all-around best EQ money can buy.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio They're not by chance the best in the business mate. I don't want to name names (lol) but they can introduce ''analog sound'' even better than other similar products. The big bet for them will be to extend non linearity with additional vintage EQ curves (because just curves doesn't mean anything without the harmonic content) and make the bestest of best eq in the world. ps : The drawing feature wasn't needed but it's fun to have.
I don't like a lot of Fabfilter's plugins. The Limiter is the best example. I think there are way too many options, and things to remember to do, in order to get it the way you want. Sometimes simpler is better. That said, I absolutely SWEAR by their EQ plugin. I have the Pro-Q3, and I'm thinking about upgrading. I can't imagine not having at least version 3. They have the best EQ plugin on the market.
pro q4 is mix of the Fabflter, MB, Soothe (with no all the details of) and Kirchhoff (they copy many of their features); however Im still prefer the Kirchhoff htat already have, the dynamic is NOT the same in the Q4.
They sound the same, on clean on all phases. So i don't know how u picked q4 in blind test.. Someone mentioned it here in comments, now that comment is gone. Mixbus tv just did a null test. Maybe u forgot and left it on warm? cheers
@ainnelrosirrosias3338 was that comparing linear phase? Because to my ears when using my settings in blind test q4 came out on top. Blind test don't lie to me.
@carlosp.1846 you have to be honest when doing these reviews. And the honest answer is spectral dynamics is brilliant but soothe is better for soothing resonant frequencies. But that's just 10% of what spectral dynamics is useful for. It doesn't 90% of what soothe can't do.

With With all the hype and clickbait Q4 videos out right now, Paul comes in with the sensible & fact-based review that we all needed. Thanks!

Excellent video. I bought the upgrade the early morning it came out!
@@braxal6983 i didn't even look at the features and just upgraded. That's how much of a no brainer update it was for me
@@AudioAnimalsStudio 100% agree! What debate on a long awaited upgrade for $60 bucks? I am not going to debate. I opened up my wallet.. Sigh.
Great update ! Is a mixcube still a must to have ? Now i see it in the background .. :)
@tomverswyvel6370 I would say they are a must have. More a nice option for referencing. That monitor is a Tamtrum Audio Angrybox.

£50 - where? it's £72 on PA
@doctordave151 I got it for £50.20 direct from fabfilter. This is probably because I own most the other plugins. Standard upgrade price is £72.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio thanks for that - I checked my account. I can get it for £64.80
@doctordave151 every little helps

It's absolutely fantastic...I upgraded immediately and I'm still amazed by the new possibilities! 🥰
Do it but keep pro q 3 and save your presets 😅
The upgrade doesn't overwrite Pro Q3, Pro Q3 will still be on your computer as it's own plugin to use at any time.
Reviewer: Spectral Dynamics is fantastic worth the upgrade. Also reviewer , will i use it??no i will keep using Soothe . Lol

no brianer, i have not tested it and just automatically upgraded instantly
Yep I paid $62
@@robmlisanti I paid £50.40 which works out about $64
