    The most important point here is "Failures are way more money than buying the right oil". Absolutely, and amen! Put a little extra money into the oil and oil filters you use as hard pats cost more.

    What I really like about videos like this and manufactures like HPL is the passion. It's like craft beer. I would love to see the inner workings of one of the oil giants. I'm sure their process is equally if not more robust. But If I'm going to (drink lol) use brands like HPL 99 out 100 times in my car.

      I've been using the mobile 1 extended performance (higher priced gold bottle) on my turbo small block ford drag car and it works ok just had to change it every weekend due to the oil getting really thin with heat cycles. The mobile 1 full synthetic did it worse. I would drop oil pressure every race then it would come back up with fresh oil. I've considered going to valvoline vr1 or something else like lucas or HPL. I think there is better oils than consumer oils from Walmart.

    In regards to the turbochargers cooking oil, the OEM manufactures came out with water cooled turbochargers in late 80's. When the car is shut down the water takes all the heat from the core, and shutdown procedure is just drive gently for the last minute or so and turn the car off.

Is that thing turbocharged? - Only on the floor models. - Now, what was the result of your analysis? - The chemical composition between the two samples was found to be identical.". - Identical!

      I don't think Jay could tell you who makes a superior oil by taking a tour of one plant it's up to the consumer to do their homework and decide for themselves what fits their program best I can tell you that most of what was going on there is most likely industry standard testing but as far as their research and development nobody really knows except for the chemist there and as far as superiority time will tell

    • @03c5z
      @03c5z 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How long soneone has done something doesn't mean much at all in regards to of they have the best product. Especially in an area that has seen a lot of innovation. Amsoil is great, but you can't say that what they do is best based on time alone. New companies often come into existence because they know how to do something better than current competitors.

  • @hunterdavis4753
    @hunterdavis4753 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One other field that uses weight instead of volume is aviation. When planes are filled up at airports (such as big airliners) they are filled in pounds not gallons. The reason is because the volume will change but the weight won't. So if you have a plane loaded with cargo to its max in the winter, then fill the tanks all the way, you could overload the plane and it never leave the ground on takeoff if measured in volume. Hence why they measure in weight so the pilots can do their math needed to make sure they are with operating range within their current weather conditions.

    I always question the difference in oils buy any full synthetic oil and they will all have the API/SAE donut or starburst saying they meet or exceed these standards along with the other standards exceeded listed on the bottle. In my opinion there is not much difference between HPL and other quality synthetic oil. You would have to buy a dedicated race only oil which I guess is not good for street driving.
