    Very nice vidéo !
    On the wall of the interior of the Bolduc house ( 1 minute 58 ) ; there is an old provencal 'furniture for bread' , or panetière used in Provence during the XVIII century to protect bread against mice;
    It was generaly put on a table, but now in many museums it is hanged on a wall !

    This town reminds me of parts of Quebec and Louisiana. Beautiful architecture. I would love to visit sometime.

      And Northern Maine, which is where I spent most of my early childhood. There are towns like this in Upper Michigan too apparently.
      Plenty of Midwestern towns were settled by New Englanders and French Canadians way back when.

    My Native/french ancestors lived there..the Bequette/Boyer families, then went on to Old Mines Missouri. I'm almost 1/4 native and proud to be a part of that country's history...

    Old Mines MO being founded in 1723 is the oldest French settlement in the state, which is also my home town.

      I thought St. Joachim Catholic Church has always been known as the oldest church west of the Mississippi River. I agree Old Mines/Canon Mines are older than Ste. Genevieve!

      St. Joachim church is the oldest standing church west of the Mississippi River, and is three years older than the cathedral in St.Louis.

      My grandma was from Old Mines. I remember going there a few times as a kid for a French colonial festival.

    That opening diorama was done by Lewis Pruneau. My dad and Lewis used to sit up all night working on models, chain smoking, cussing real loud and watching WWII VHS tapes. Those were the days.
