fun fact: In the early beta of the Joe Swanson pre-release there was a game-breaking glitch where you could tap A just as you enter the kitchen scene causing Joe to clip through the family after a jump, the game still thinks he hugged them and therefore allows an extra 3.5 seconds to be saved. This clip was nullified in the full release since it was inaccessible to anyone who had the ordinary copy, the community decided to ban this glitch in order to make it more accessible for everyone.
There is a way to bypass it because the floor will now push you up so you need to attempt to do the glitch which will push you backwards and go up a little if you do this a lot then you will get faster and then hop off the bed to misalign yourself to glitch into the wall and you’ll hit the felling but then misalign yourself more you turn upside down and skip the window scene and then you’ll go into the kitchen but you’ll be upside down but try to do a dive alignment with the diving backwards which will realign you and make the animations work and not crash

That would be awesome. It should just be a game where you have to speed run the whole intro of the show. That's the whole premise. You have to wake up, do all tasks (such as get dressed l, hug family, check news paper), then you have to run out and drive to work. The fastest speed record wins. I might make that into a game lol.
The teleportation glitch is completely valid, whenever you get Stan to move, you have "potential movements", this basically calculates where Stan will end up whener you move, the jumping to build up momentum makes Stan go so fast, that the potential movement literally goes past the walls, considering he never went out of bounds, this is a completely valid run.

@@JustAHat yeah but in exchange for that in the ps2/ps3 version there was the family hug skip where if you managed to use the force of the family members pushing against you you could catapult yourself to the credits. Usually this requires Stan to do the right arm expand first, where if you got Stan to push his left arm against the bed, the model would make his arm shift a little to the right. From there the family hug scene would progress, but due to stan's right arm reaching the left side first, this bumps Stan into the right part of the family which builds him just enough momentum to catapult to the credits. This is due to a coding difference. In the PS3 version Stan hugging his family was coded through the game's physics engine and not an animation like in the Wii version. Because of this players could manipulate the system to simply have Stan pinball from the right side of the family to the left, in which causes Stan to pinball in a direction. I hear if you double jump into Stan’s shoes while holding left you can access the model of the unused Peter Griffin who was going to be unlockable, but was scrapped because said model would always get stuck during the front door segment.
I dont know if its already been found, but if you hold shoot while tapping the unequip button and holding forwards, Stan will drop the newspaper and skip that segment.
"Stan will have too much momentum stepping into his shoes and will fly across the room, soft-locking the game as Stan has now broken *both of his knees* " How didnt you laugh while recording that line
I'm glad that you mentioned the New Game+ category, because there's a trick in it that I always liked. Unfortunately, it is completely obsolete due to the save file trick that you mentioned, but I remember feeling pretty clever when I discovered it. I'm talking about the focus fire speed boost. So, for anyone who doesn't play this game, one of the skills you can get throughout the game is "focus fire", which increases your attack power. You can keep leveling it up over the course of the game to increase how much it boosts your attack power. There's also a single-use item, the clock, which doubles the duration of whatever buff you next use. If you max out "focus fire", and then you save the clock until _after_ you beat the final boss, there is a brief moment at the beginning of the last cutscene where you can still make inputs (though Stan doesn't _appear_ to be doing anything in response), and you can still activate the clock and THEN use "focus fire". You can tell it worked because you do get the little sound effect and see the light red glow on Stan right as it cuts to the bunker interior view. Why boost your attack when you've already beaten the final boss? Because... With the clock boosting its duration, the "focus fire" stays in effect all the way through the final cutscene if you skip through it as fast as possible. Hold R during the credits to make them go by as fast as possible, and when you start a New Game back at the title screen, "focus fire" will STILL BE IN EFFECT! Now, you might be wondering, WHY would I want increased attack power during the intro? There's no combat until halfway through the first level! You don't HAVE any combat abilities during the intro, and even with the clock, the "focus fire" will expire just ten seconds after starting the intro! Because the intro uses its own set of mechanics, but they occupy the same _memory space_ as the mechanics that replace them later in the game! When "attack power" is boosted, what is really happening under the hood is that the values at the _memory address_ allocated for attack power (specifically those values beginning at address 0x02EC89E8) are doubled. When you get halfway through level 1 and get the combat tutorial, that memory address is used for attack power. Prior to that, it's used for one component of Stan's movement speed, specifically, the component that is in the game intro's "north" direction. It's not used for that in later parts of the game, after you get the combat tutorial because the game mechanics fundamentally shift from out of the intro mode, and the game does physics and movement totally differently. They made the intro work differently from the rest of the game to better "look" like a snazzy, musical intro. But why, you might ask, did they use the same memory space? Why not just use a separate memory space? Remember how cheaply and how long ago this game was made. Resources like memory were extremely limited. Remember that the fifth boss is basically just a palette swap and pitch-shift of the third? The original designs show that the fifth boss was going to be a totally different design, wider, light tan, more guns, HUGE rear end, but they had to scrap that due to memory limitations. So, instead, it's just the third boss again, but green and lower voice. Also, it _does_ fire extra guns, but still _appears_ to only have the ones of boss 3. They just produce more projectiles. The development team was pushed to stretch that old system to its very limits, and that meant squeezing every byte of memory that they could. Reusing memory space from the intro that would not be needed again after the game mode shifted was an obvious choice. Why not just ditch the intro entirely, though, or make it run in the same mode as the rest of the game, if they wanted to save memory so badly? Well, I don't know about all of the decision-making process that went into this, but I do know that the intro eventually became one of the most iconic pieces of this whole game, and we are all quite glad that they didn't cut it. I like to think that on some level they knew that the intro was important enough to drawing in the audience that they refused to compromise on it.
Speedrunning Tip: On the Ps2 version if you use joe mode you are actually slowing yourself down. Due to faulty coding stan’s voice actually lags the game for whatever reason. This lag spike allows you to force the game to register a left and right press on the same frame which makes floor clip way easier. Joe’s voice does not have this lag which makes floor clip way harder. The difficulty usually forces the runner to go for stair clip which is 2 seconds slower. While the Ps2 joe swanson version is fastest due to the game not needing to load different sections of the house whenever you go there for the first time. *Note that this only applies to the Non updated version that features joe Swanson from the family guy series as newer versions do not encounter this issue due to the rereleases offering faster alternatives to floor clip*
This meme had gone way too far that there was a time that I believed this speedrun AND game were real, till I had to search it on my own. It just shows how many people are devoted to make a meme real, and that - for some reason - makes me smile.
Uh. Yes. If you've seen any popular any% speedrun progressions over the years, this is not an exaggeration of how games can be much more broken than they appear. Super Mario world can be beaten in a tas in 46 seconds. I actually think a guy managed to beat the game in less time, I remember seeing a guy manage to pull the wrong warp pretty fast.
If you perform the double jump too early, he will have too much momentum and break both of his knees. If you perform the double jump too late, the momentum will transfer through his shoes, exploding him, dropping him through two stories and breaking both of his knees.
I wasn't expecting such a well researched video on the American Dad speedrun since it is such an oversaturated topic that has been done so much, but I am impressed
This game got me into speedrunning. I am extremely thankful to the American Dad Intro speedrunning community for how welcoming they have been. There are so many resources for beginners. I can't consistently do the window skip yet, but I'm practicing the newspaper text glitch like crazy to make up for it.
Senpai'sVideos ? you know how much effort and precision these speed runs actually take? you just aren’t appreciative of our advanced and 2000 iq gaming skills...
Did you know, in the attic, it's not just not textured, there is a rig of Roger, there's a mod that fixes the attic. It's true, there's a mod that allows you to explore the attic, fully textured and everything!
I found a way to beat the record! There's an awkward hit box on the bed that when you jump out, you could overshoot the slippers! You can then back flip on the slippers causing a huge boost of momentum. If you aim A.D. just right you could shoot to the flag to which the camera will follow, spawning in the "American Dad" entity over the flag, causing the choir to chime in.
The fastest possible time is theoritcally is inbetween 0.300 to 0.400. This happens due to using motion controls on switch, skipping the entire house, skipping the car ride and skipping straight up the pole so currently the world record is 0.500 which means people can still beat it.
The last version can be done real fast too, I call it the "Early Bird Run". First when stan wakes up do a roll forward while jumping from the bed, this will make stan go in the direction of the window and fall down to the front of his house, now just before he hits the ground you have to pause and un pause the game so he doesn't suffer fall damage and break his legs, now when you enter in your car as the family is still asleep Roger won't be inside the car and thus his cutscene won't play skipping ahead to when you get to the CIA.

No clipping but when you come to the flag in the end, you gotta press ”X” while doing a triple input, i could make a video showing it if anyone would like me to :)
Please do the video, I need more detail.

Absolute Genius At Play! Kind Of A Shame That It's Obsolete Now But Still. Extremely Clever!

Speedrunning Tip:
On the Ps2 version if you use joe mode you are actually slowing yourself down.

*I don’t know why am I here. All I know is I must speedrun tv shows*
Why am I only discovering this perfect meme now?
I found a way to beat the record! There's an awkward hit box on the bed that when you jump out, you could overshoot the slippers! You can then back flip on the slippers causing a huge boost of momentum. If you aim A.D. just right you could shoot to the flag to which the camera will follow, spawning in the "American Dad" entity over the flag, causing the choir to chime in.
I agree, the game registers everything as an entity so therefore interacting with the hitbox allows for a lot of monentum
I thought this was an actual game then but with just a few google searches I may have been tricked, bamboozled, and possibly manipulated
So basically, the biggest tennis ytp
yeah more or less
The fastest possible time is theoritcally is inbetween 0.300 to 0.400. This happens due to using motion controls on switch, skipping the entire house, skipping the car ride and skipping straight up the pole so currently the world record is 0.500 which means people can still beat it.
I'm excited to see what these guys do next
Can you link to a run that utilizes this strat?
@@niquio9026 no
The last version can be done real fast too, I call it the "Early Bird Run".
Stan clipping though the floor is incredibly difficult it took me 12 times just to pull it off
