Interestingly enough, I have almost the same decision and choices to make for a goal 10km on the same day: Around the Crown 10k, which is the biggest race in Charlotte, NC. I don’t have the Sky though. It’s between the Edge Paris, DevNitElite 3, and AlphaFly 3. I think I’m 90% learning on the Edge Paris for that pace. Good Luck, Edd!
Best of luck with the race Edd. I'd like to see you use the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 even though the Sky is a proven shoe that works for you on race day. The reason is because I think there is a hair's breath between the shoes but I think the PDNE3 is surprisingly good in the performance stakes and more comfortable. Whatever you decide, I hope you break 1:30 or achieve a PB and the temps aren't too high on the day.
Let's get that 1:29:xx Edd!!! I'm just starting to train bit by bit for the Barcelona Marathon in March. It is still too hot over here to do any intense training.
After almost 5 months injured I started running again last week. I went for my Asics Novablast 4 for safety, but I had a brand new pair of Sky’s sitting around and today I could not resist: I regret nothing, they feel amazing! I think you are making the right choice for the half with them! Go for a PB!
Perfect timing for this video. I have a half marathon in two weeks and I can't decide between the Metaspeed Sky Paris or the Vaporfly 3. Leaning slightly toward the Sky Paris.
there was that family that ran/raced in Crocs because they were cheap. The Dad and one of the kids ran faster than 1:15. In Crocs. I forgot my running shoes on some camping trip once and ran in Crocs, and they really weren't that bad!
I’ve used the DN3E for half marathon, 10k & 5k and loved it for all 3 distances, getting PB’s in all 3 distances too. I’ll be using it next weekend for the GNR too. I think it’s a fantastic shoe
Hope you have fun out there! Given you did 1:31 with massive elevation I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you breezed a sub 90. Fresh pair of Metaspeed Sky perhaps?
A no brainer for me..the puma will always feel better for my feet and joints..I really can't see any difference in my race times with shoes..the weather and the course make more difference than what shoes I use..good luck and have a fun race..😊
I ran 5k with low cut slim leather Chucks (its thinner than the regular model) and let me tell you that is the most memorable run for me, more memorable than any Super Shoe of course I can't walk normally for like 2 days after that.................
Went with metaspeed sky Paris for my half last Sunday, got pb of 1:33:00 so fair dues for chasing the 1:30! Stryd has 319w average with 500ft elevation, interesting comparison with your Yeovil stats.
Glad to see the Met worked well 🎉.. I bought the Puma because it lasts much longer. However the Deviate Nitro Elite 3 outsole is not tenacious like normal Puma grip.
Have a good race Ed. Just signed up for my first ever half in 6 weeks time, Galway Bay. I'll be running in my Endorphin Pro 3's that I picked up on sale. Enjoying them so far.
I recommend the puma deviate elite 3 as iv absolutely smashed all of my pbs in that shoe multiple times Might be tempted to go with alphafly 3 for half / full marathon tho as I absolutely love that shoe and it’s super comfortable but….. I think the puma might be faster .. at least for a half I only have ASICS meta speed sky Paris and it’s fast but it too firm for me although you like your firmer shoes so maybe you should go for the ASICS and they seem to work for you Good luck 🤞 I’m sure your smash it 👊 what ever shoes you wear
I have the Abingdon Marathon on the 20th October - my first full marathon since 2015 - and now in my 52nd year. I am thinking either the Asics Metaspeed Sky+ but the other option is the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro original...unless of course, I depart with more cash beforehand...conundrums.
Running a marathon in western NY on the same day, I have the Metaspeed Sky Paris but they’re still in the box, not sure about late in a marathon when I break down so going with Endorphin Pro 4. Solid wide base to that shoe…Best of luck Edd hope you get a PB! I need to have a good marathon b/c the last 2 weren’t good. Much prefer the half!
Best of luck with the race Edd! Got to go with sky paris. The Edge also made me run the way the shoe wanted me to go vs. how I wanted to run with the sky letting me do my thing. Plus did my first sub 20 in the 5k and sub 5 minute mile in the sky and legs felt pretty good after and the day after the run. Would love to get the DNE3 and see what they are about - the 2 didn't quite fit well on me regarding the upper. However, I may need to just go with what I have for some time as my kids and wife want to see a certain concert next year if we can get tickets and yes you can imagine who it is since Sally doesn't have to wait anymore.😂 will not pay aftermarket as I'm sure prices will be outrageous. Takes me back a decade ago when I tried to get Kate Bush tickets when she announced concerts which you can imagine sold out immediately and resellers were crazy. Did not get to see her as it was just too much.
@@EDDBUD well that was a waste as I expected it to be - can't get on ticket sites and resellers charging minimum £700/ticket. Ok, back to buying running shoes then 😀
Got a couple of 10k's and a half in sept/oct. Got the metaspeed sky on your reccomendation. Aiming for sub 40/90 mins so similar pace to you. Havent had the chance to use it yet but looking forward to giving it a go on the weekend
Both Asic's racing shoes are brilliant , got the Sky slightly used at a bargain and borrowed the Edge for a 15 mile try out (edge was really fun .. but have too many shoes to make it worth me calling my local running store to order) , but both models are a tad 'wibbly wobbly' (technical term) at the back if you get tired legs. which ever you end up choosing I am sure you will have a great race .. Lets go sub 90!
Hey, Ed. Enjoy the race. Did it last year and it was toasty. Was hoping for cooler this year but not to be. I’ll shout ‘hi’ if I see you at the start. I’m going trusted, old school on Sunday - VF2. Much prefer them to the VF3 over the HM.
I'm coming over from Sweden to run the Big Half Edd. Not 100% fit this time Edd but I will give it ago. If I see you I will say Hi! Shoes will be Adizero pro 3s or my well worn Superblasts! Good luck to you and everyone else on Sunday!
I ran a 1:34:30 half marathon personal best a couple weeks ago in the sky Paris. First time I wore them I ran a 10km PB 42:11, second time a half marathon PB. So fast.
The Puma deviate nitro sounds like a great shoe, I may have to grab a pair. The Asics Edge is very tempting for me, but low durability at that price a big no for me.
Go for it Edd. I ran the buenos aires 21k last sunday in the takumi 9 in 1:25: 41 . I think any asics model over the magic speed is a real good option. So? which your choose for the 21k?
EDDBUD the Meta Speed Sky Paris still causes pain in my left arch after about an hour. Any chance the plate placement is the reason? Would the Meta Speed Edge Paris be a better option?
Oh yeah, and don't forget that the bit in Docklands does something really weird to GPS on watches! Done this event a couple of times, not this year, and have had my watch suddenly switch from kilometres to miles and also confirm I've run a 2 minute k before. It sorts itself out, and it might be Polar specific, but FYI
I’d go Sky Paris. It excels at flatter courses. The Edge Paris in my opinion is a 5k-10k shoe. It is very fast and wants you to have a high turnover rate. The Deviate is just too heavy. The AF 3 is second choice for a half marathon PB but the Sky Paris beats it in terms of weight.
@@EDDBUD you therefore have a doppelgänger 😂 luvin the pods keep up the great job your doing. You’ve helped my half marathon selection with your latest episode 🙌🏃
Good luck Edd. I have got a similar issue/debate, whether to go for either VF v2 (208 miles but my PB shoe), Endorphin Pro 3 (140 miles) or Adios Pro 2 (60 miles) for the Cardiff 10k tomorrow. What would you go with?
@@EDDBUD thanks. Went with the EP3 and managed to sneak in a PB on a humid day. Proves that sometimes your association to PBs and a specific make or model is just in your head.

All the best Ed! I've done PBs in the Edge Paris at both the half and 10k myself this year. You've got this!

In May I had my PB in a half with the Edge Paris - 1:26:40. The shoe was just Amazing.
