In the lineage of games in the immersive sim / 0451 genre, Dishonored 2 is well worth your time, although it does fall short of a calssic.
This Dishonored 2 review/retrospective/analysis/critique will break down the game and look at the sum of its parts.
Dishonored 2 is on sale on the regular, and makes a purchase you can't go wrong with when that's the case.

Dishonored 2 launched in late 2016 to a positive, yet more muted response than the first. A botched PC launch didn't help the reputation of Arkane Studios, along with the immersive sim not (usually) being a huge seller.
Having recently picked it up on sale, I was very happy with my purchase. In many ways, Dishonored 2 is better than 1, and yet still had some mistakes and flaws that carried over from the first.
Unfortunately, Dishonored 2 did not sell well and while the series did get another release, it seems to be on hold for the future. Why did Dishonored 2 fail? In this Dishonored 2 Analysis/review/critique/retrospective, we'll take a look at why.
While a great addition to the line of immersive sim / 0451 style games, it does fall short of an all-time classic that other immersive sim games like Thief or Deus Ex fall under.

I spend 30 min solving the puzzle.. Since they put it into the game and i like logical puzzles i decided to give it a go. Afterwards i was pleased to find that it was randomized :)
Also.. on the Emily part, i've seen people made the point. IF you dont play as Emily.. she's just a child that's been saved twice by Corvo. Saving the empire herself makes her grow past her tragic childhood and put her on a path to become a beloved benevolent ruler.

    • @BoulderPunch

@@BoulderPunch I did a Corvo run on my first game.. as i were more invested in him. Then i did a Emily run, and then a corvo with no powers run.. now that was interesting. I must hand them for making the game in a way that you can still traverse roofs etc without powers. Its more tricky but its possible... I was a bit sad that i missed Corvo's child home, as that was inaccessible without powers.. I missed it the first time by bypassing the whole level with the code.
It's funny because i also didnt know you could alter what happened in the future before my emily playthrough... i think i accidently knocked him out and was pleasantly surprised.
One thing i think makes Dishonoured 2 better than most other stealth games i have played, was the fact that the guards were aware of their surroundings, called for help and in general felt more lifelike, especially on hard. (i tried to play as a ghost)
Did you play Death of the Outsider?

I actually think Corvo is better suited for this adventure in my opinion, which isn't to discount Emily's skills (which we still see on display in the expanded material)
For starters, Karnaca is Corvo's homeland, offering a larger perspective of our setting and its history. All of the dialogue relating to Corvo's past, his relationship and service to the old Duke & Jessamine, his and Delilah's banter, his speech to Karnaca and even everything with Billie and Sokolov just feels quite a bit more personal as Corvo. It's also heavily acknowledged that "hey, this is all kind of happening again, isn't it?" but with a more firm sense of finality.
Regardless of who you play as, the title of the Crown Killer is initially pinned on Corvo, which serves well to illustrate how while everything has come full circle, there's still a sense of progression as now instead of being accused of being the killer of an Empress, he's now being convicted of being a killer FOR the empress (showing how Corvo is still never quite "accepted" by the Empire at large, as they're still willing to turn on him on a whim). It's all very akin to Bigby Wolf.
This may be kind of a dead argument (as we technically have a "canon" route regardless) but I don't really think who went to Karnaca in this game really affects the continuity at large, I just think it personally fits Corvo a little better.

    • @Ph33NIXx
      @Ph33NIXx 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@kikrinman1450 I agree - I also prefered my Corvo playthroughs. I only regret that I did not find Corvo's apartment on my Corvo playthrough - since I solved the puzzle and skipped that whole level... and my second Corvo playthough was with no powers.. and I could not reach the window you need to enter without powers... I would have liked to hear his comments.
Anyway... The point I was trying to get across was not that Emily is the more fitting character. But It would be best for her character arc to go through it all.
Corvo's ark does not change a whole lot... He technically arrives the same place as in the first games - which I believe you agree with? But if Emily goes through it all, not only would she connect with her subjects, learn about the corruption of her nation and grow into wanting to take on her role as a ruler.. rather than zoning out and spending her evenings running on the roof tops
The icing on the cake is that she would save herself and her father... breaking free from a person who needs to be saved, and helped by her father.. I guess it becomes a coming of age story, tying her character ark up neatly.
So.. it was from a purely character ark perspective I argued x)
Damn.. I miss this world.. sadly we will probably not get another game like this. Not after Zenimax butchered Arkane by forcing them to make a co-op shooter.. making the original team leave... but I digress.

Dishonored 2 is one of my favorite releases from recent years. Some of the decisions they've made in terms of gameplay like New Game +, Custom Difficulty, Nonlethal being a more fun experience, an option to have a No Powers run, and having Emily being an optional character to play as were great additions to the game.
Even though I liked the original Dishonored's levels a bit more, I did overall like the levels of the game. Mainly from an artistic standpoint and for some levels like the Clockwork Mansion, Stilton Manor, and that one part of the level where you go to the Duke's residence were great in terms of level design and remain to be my favorite bits in the game. Personally I liked the Stilton Manor a bit more than the other two for basically the same reasons you gave out, it's one of the levels I always wanted to replay everytime I get to play this game.
As much as this game did alot of things right on the gameplay sphere of things, but when it comes to the story, I wasn't much of a fan of it. I liked the whole Loyalist plot of the first game more than the 'Return of Delilah' arc they were going for. The way they tried to make you sympathize with her due to her having a tragic backstory didn't work well for me since like you said in the video, it ultimately fell flat.
I think they could've improved on the main plot by simply changing the antagonist to something else. Whatever its a completely new enemy that we haven't seen before or they could've tread some bits from the first game that focuses on the more mundane things like the Empire's politics especially with the effects of the Lord Regent's regime. Something like the Regenters I think would've been a much better group of antagonists to deal with than Delilah. Heres a wiki page of the Regenters to give a glimpse of what they were:
    dishonored.fandom.com/wiki/Regenters
Besides the main plot, like you I didn't like the change to the Outsider's character. Both his voice actor and his origins. I liked the Outsider for being that lovecraftian entity who is only giving people abilities because "they were interesting" and comments on your actions in a very detached way. The Outsider was great in the first game for essentially serving a meta narrative role. He is the reason you and Daud have powers in the first place which has real consequences for the game world as the Outsider allows them to use these abilities as they see fit, which ties very well with the Immersive Sim philosophy of completing the mission your way in the gameplay side of things. I can go on but I think you get the point.
Overall a good game, not necessarily a classic like the first game but it was pretty close mainly for the gameplay, not so much for the plot though lol. Hopefully assuming Dishonored 3 is ever a thing, I hope they return to what made the first game great in the first place while adding the nice additions they've added to the 2nd game. Great video and thanks to your channel, I've gotten more interested in the Immersive Sim genre / game philosophy and I'm thinking of trying out some of the games you recommended like Thief 1 & 2 for example since I was simply way too young when those games came out so I never had the chance to play them but I'll try them out when I have the chance.

  • @robrick9361
    @robrick9361 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

It would have been cooler if the Outsider appears differently to everyone. That not only would allow them to change his voice and appearance but also make him even more inhuman and lovecraftian.
Explaining his origins was a massive mistake even though the Void stuff at the end of the game was fun and interesting.

    • @BoulderPunch

The Outsider was effectively created by humanity, the exact opposite idea of a Lovecraftian entity.

@@kikrinman1450It takes away from the mystery. He’s not malevolent, because he never lets morality or gain guide his actions. He treats the world like a plaything, and this origins thing just takes the focus from that to something that isn’t very interesting and makes him seem like just a guy, with a moral code and personal motivations.

Dishonored 2 didn't sell bad, it performed worse at launch, yes, but overall the game still sold well enough to even get a standalone DLC. After all, it's by far Arkane's biggest franchise. And don't be so sure about dishonored not getting the third installment. Dinga Bakaba himself said that while the story of Corvo and Emily has ended, they are NOT gonna just abandon such a gigantic franchise. And as a cherry on top this spring Arkane was looking for new people to work on 2 unannounced projects (besides Deathloop that is currently being developed by Arkane Lyon) so yeah, dishonored 3 is most likely coming. Just not any time soon.

At the start of dishonored 2, I was using blink and stealth but by the end I was just summoning huge rat swarms that comically devoured everything in my path to the point that I didn’t need to use my weapons. In prey, I felt extremely underpowered at the start running away or relying on my shotgun then by the end I could mindjack or control every enemy that killing them became trivial and I could play around with diff power combinations

Surely one of the reasons why a sequel might not sell as well as its predecessor is because at least some who bought the latter can't afford the hardware upgrades necessary to run the former. I was lucky enough to have just bought (in 2016) a machine that was quite high-end for the time, but I'm sure many people didn't have access to the required minimum specs (and 'minimum' rarely means that it will actually run the game).

I really enjoyed your video, great review/commentary and all. On a side note if the “woke” factor is such a turn off for some people, well it’s a shame. I do think that they’re are games that pander too hard and horribly on top of that. But Dishonored & Dishonored 2 aren’t that kind of games. There are mentions of gay characters and pretty badass female characters in both games. I don’t think the game deserved backlash for that since they’ve always been a bit “woke”.

Currently playing the game (I'm at the pen-ultimate mission) and I've got mixed feelings. On balance though it's a recommendation from me. Falling just short of a classic seems a good verdict. The game has some extreme strengths. The art direction is just immaculate. It's in the top top top tier alongside The Last of Us, Persona 5, etc. One of the most beautiful games this last gen, especially if you play it on highest settings on a strong PC. Next is the level design - the environments are not just beautiful, they're such well designed play spaces that walk the fine line between being limited enough that you don't become disoriented while sprawling and detailed enough that you can explore for long periods of time discovering little secrets. The rune/bonecharm collect-a-thon aspect beautifully feeds into it. And of course the stand-out missions of Clockwork Mansion and A Crack in the Slab should be considered all time greats alongside Constantine's Mansion in Thief 1 or the Cradle in Thief 3. Dishonored always had some of the smoothest, enjoyable gameplay and game feel, especially in the immersive sim genre. No other game does it better. The mere act of stalking, peeking around corners, killing or subduing enemies from behind is so enjoyable here. If it all came down to these aspects, the game is basically perfect.
On the other hand though, the writing is quite average. It does well enough in establishing the backdrop and providing a good story through-line that facilitates the great level design concepts. I just felt the writing was lacking in terms of emotional pull or motivation. I found myself not liking Emily all that much. She was evidently a bad ruler. Sure, she was deposed by an even worse one, but it's a weird concept that she would then go on an assassination rampage (thought of course there's always non-lethal solutions available) to reinstate herself. Maybe it feels better if I played as Corvo? Also the political commentary in these games is so tame. The rich elite are morally bankrupt and their greed causes ruin for all these innocent people. It's a true enough commentary on our world for sure, but it doesn't go very far in dissecting or shining a light in the exact ways these things play out except for the most well understood ways.
To be fair though, not many immersive sims actually have anything meaningful to say. It's not usually the focus. Only Deus Ex really did, and except for the first one, they haven't succeeded in being politically interesting either. I just felt like Dishonored 2 in particular puts on these airs of being a story with something to say, with deeper themes or take-aways than most other game.

My favorite part about Dishonored 2 are Emily's powers, you can clip through walls, floors using Far Reach, you can deflect bullets at other enemies with reflexes, pull a batman and pull enemies up towards you also with Far Reach

I love D1 and like D2. What I dislike about D2 are (spoilers)
    The story:
Delilah isn't a serious antagonist, but a joke. She can remotely talk to our character in Karnaca, but she never seems to care to contact her little witch sect or send them reinforcements from Dunwall. She knows we're up to something, but chooses to walk in circles in Dunwall tower.
Also, I know it's canon and it would be costly to accout for our D1 decisions, but when playing as Daud, I killed Delilah, so she wouldn't reappear. If the game checked for D1 Save or did it like Mass Effect 3 where we could chose our protagonist's previous actions it would really elevate the game. That of course would mean that Deliah couldn't be the main baddie.
I feel like Dishonored 1 and 2 suffer from lack of interesting, dangerous villains. When I saw Delilahs void section I wasn't interested in learning more about her- I just wanted to get it over it, especially when later I learned he turned Dunwall into total ruin.
I really like exploring the levels in Dishonored 2- they feel lived in, there's some cool environmental storytelling and npcs trying to live in this world... so why does Dreadful Whale have just 1 crew member? How can Billie Lurk do anything if the ship breaks down at sea, at a storm? We should have at least a dozen npcs on that ship.
Also, I understand that there's no shop on the ship, so we use black markets instead, but I'd prefer to have Sokolov or anyone else running a shop aboard, so I could resupply without having to search for a black market or foraging the level ti restock my grenades and springrazors.
I didn't like that dr Hypoxia was the crown killer- she seemingly commited a lot of crimes in Dunwall. It a lot of roundway trips to and fro. Maybe she just went there once and stayed put, but I think as crown killer she's a bit less smart and stands out from the crowd so much, it would be difficult for her to stay in hiding. Maybe they should make someone from Dunwall The Crown Killer?
I also somehow didn't like Stephen Russel as Corvo. He's perfect in Thief, but here, he didn't not gel for me.
All in all, I enjoyed D2, but it feels like Arkane started with gameplay ideas (shifting rooms in clockwork mansion, time travel, a character with a body double in a position of power, female Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde type character) and then, started to write the story around those ideas, sometimes not really hitting it. It's a really good, but flawed game.
Oh, and I really like that they added stun mines and drop down non lethal takedown. Those were great and additions

I’d be curious how you feel about D1 with playing D2 first. It’s the same order I went cuz I’m a new gamer. I absolutely loved D2 and with everyone saying D1 is more brilliant than D2 I had my hopes up too high. I would say that there are things that D2 really enhanced on top of D1 and having them taken away in D1 was a disappointment.

    • @yaraabdulkader7362
      @yaraabdulkader7362 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@summernoir3845 i haven’t played the D1 yet but I am buying the definitive edition next summer cuz I am kinda broke rn. However, from the videos I have watched I definitely can say that the graphics/visuals are way better in D2, the fact that corvo was silent also annoys me, and the minor details like the interactive decor are existent in D2 as well. Not to mention the powers of course.
I am pretty sure the gameplay is the same but idk I haven’t played it myself.
Overall, as D2 is newer, it is obviously better in terms of technology.
Honestly, I am not sure why people praise D1 over D2, obviously the first game won tons of awards and titles but looking at the second one it is also great, i played D2 without knowing the story but I just thought “oh it’s about an empress whose mother got assassinated” and went on playing, even though there were things that I didn’t understand like granny rags whose hand was with Paolo and her diaries were in the flooded basement of the Institute, there was a painting of her as well but I didn’t know who she is BUT these are minor things for me because many paintings were about people from the first game.
Honestly what I enjoyed the most in the second game is world building, which is also in the first game but whatever, I loved the struggle of the ‘jewel of the south’ I loved seeing the gangsters against the religious groups and seeing the underdogs, also the architecture and the blackmarket shops, (I feel like I am gonna say everything lmao)
The only thing that I don’t like which is a big thing is the the chaos meter, I have read and watched that the chaos meter of D1 was changeable like mainly focused on stealth not bodycount but if you do a side mission it reduces the chaos you’ve done unlike dishonored 2 which SUCKS when it comes to this point, i believe you can’t kill more than 4 in low chaos other than that it will be high chaos, stealth and side quests don’t matter at all and once a mission is high chaos, the rest of the game will be high chaos even if you do the rest of the missions in low chaos.
The only thing I really like about the low/high chaos thing is how the world around me Changes, how the outsider dialogues changes, the people who change conversations into more hostile, the bloodflies and the unnecessary deaths, especially in Mission 8, It is very obvious in mission 8, I don’t think if this exists in dishonored 1 (i am not sure tho) but I think that chaos only affected the ending in the D1.
Would love to hear your thoughts as well!

Since it's connected to Bethesda, which is known for Elder Scrolls and Fallout series... I can't help but wonder what an open world Dishonored would look like. I wanted to explore more of Karnaca and Serkonos (at least part of it)... the Empress should have seen more of her Empire. On the other hand I think they missed a chance to make Delilah more sympathetic... what if she wasn't a 100% villain and improved some things? I would also have liked to see more of the different factions in an area vying for power, like the Howlers vs Abbey conflict. In the end it left me wanting more, but I liked the game very much. If there will ever be a Dishonored 3, I'd want to check it out, sure.

Also there should be multiple ways to eliminate a target without killing them. There's only one option in each level which sucks. Also it needs to have multiple good Endings or Evil endings , the endings should vary based on ur decisions. We needed more of that

About sales, i think strong ideas delivered to potential customers can make or break with immersive sims. Bioshock had a very original world, Bioshock 2 while a good game (i prefer it to the original for its gameplay and story DLC, even if it's a bit too short as a sequel) felt like a rehashing of the same elements, nothing so innovative to make people say "oh that's very different, let's try it!". Bioshock Infinite moved to a fresh bold world with a strong character that people liked. Big sales.
Dishonored had another strong base with its world design and the art style while the sequel is improving that it doesn't deliver (always on the surface, from trailers etc) a strong story, new characters or very different new enviroment that make people that aren't fan of the genre or original think "this is a must have". Same with the newer Deus Ex games.
As for Prey, for me a better (visually and maybe even gameplay wise) enemy design, enviroments that really stand out on the trailers, some bolder ideas in the story delivered within the marketing material would have helped sell more. Outside mimics i don't much else people could be interested to, sci-fi it's hard to sell if something doesn't stand out a lot.
As i said, it's not about the overall quality of the games themselves, all have their interesting stuff if you explore, complete them, It's about the idea that some design elements that are sold better than others.
From another point of view i can also say that probably a more complex gameplay in Bioshock wouldn't have pushed back its popularity. Maybe going too deep yes, but having some better, more comparable gameplay to the original ideas of the genre would have improve things without losing players. Still we have to understand that it was a gamble, an experiment to make it more popular, from our eyes it was too much simplified but they didn't know how much they had to go and they went as much as possible.

@@BoulderPunch Regarding The Outsider voice, I liked both almost equally. The first one has the advantage of being the original, so that speaks volumes for the second one imho.
I tested the first few levels with Emily, decided that I didn't really love her abilities and decided to change to Corvo. I'm currently doing NG+ as Emily so I can pick and choose between both characters' abilities. I decided to go low chaos but lethal with Corvo and rely heavily on Bend Time to get around a lot of combat. I'm a lot more sneaky and lethal with Emily. The combination of Bend Time, Far Reach and Domino makes for some truly awesome multi kills so I can't get myself to go non lethal.
PS. You can either burn the bloodflies and their nests as "intended" or, alternatively and much more resource friendly, just walk into the nest sword flailing. Bloodflies are not particularly dangerous at all.

I have not played Dishonored 2 due to my computer not being able to run it very well but I do adore the first one. I do, however, think that there is certainly some issues with the way that women are portrayed in the first game, particularly in regards to the characters of Callista and Lady Boyle. The scene with Piero spying on Callista bathing is very gross and the game just brushes past it and doesn't rlly adress it imo. lady Boyle though is definitely a place where the game dropped the ball in regards to its female characters. She is given a horrific non lethal ending where she is sent off to live in man's basement and essentially be his sex slave. It's horrific and very cheap and it feels very unneeded, particularly compared to the other non lethal eliminations.

For what it's worth I remember this outsider much more than I remember the first one.. granted I haven't played the first one in many more years than I played the second one but, I don't remember him at all from the first one other than that he was there.. but honestly that's kind of the way that entire game goes with its characters they weren't the strongest part of that of that game LOL.. or any arcane game really.. but I hear they're trying.. you know what that's important.. it's a little scary when you have somebody like machine breeze collaborating on a project and even they can't help the dialogue and it still ends up being pretty bad considering there's some of the best writers of dialogue in the AAA space, and I don't want to blame Bethesda for it.. because the publisher is different from the studio.. and the studio just because they happen to use dark magic in order to make their dialogue so bad that even Patrick Stewart didn't pull it off.. doesn't necessarily mean that they cursed machine breeze.. but it is kind of suspicious? But maybe not cuz they've had very successful dialogues under the Bethesda name regardless and they've had bad dialogue under the breeze name..
A lot of people like to blame Joss whedon.. and it is true Joss whedon is not a great writer when he's not coupled with someone like Tim Minar who can filter that into good writing.. but I like to go to the source and just blame JJ Abrams for everything.. there's way way too many, not even 7 degrees Kevin Bacon that you can do with that more like two or three degrees half the time, sometimes just no degrees where he was just directly the problem..

Yeah positional audio really took a shit when Windows gutted the sound API.. and to make matters worse consoles never really seem to bother with good audio gear, and it wasn't until the rise of middleware (cursed be its name, especially if it's wwise) that we started to see like an acceptable version of positional audio.. if you go back to the older days back when pro logic 2 was King LOL combine that with just even moderately decent headphones and something like source engine and you could get up and down sound as well as full positional audio.. I remember being kind of shocked coming into America's army 3, after playing so much insurgency.. and it had really good positional audio because they tried their best, but it was flat and that actually threw me for a loop a little bit.. now it's just the way it is I guess, I was kind of hoping that at most would start to bring this back but it's you know it's modern day Dolby so if you thought you had to do enough DRM handshakes for old Dolby.. imagine how many you have to do it for new Dolby LOL.. and it's just never really been taking advantage of very well, and it's certainly doesn't exist in the virtual space like it used to..
The addition to this is that sound design also needs a lot of programming work.. hence the middleware, as it seems most of the engine developers don't really care to bother with it.. and there's many of them and when you had the Windows sound suite you had you know something that everybody could kind of work with and people that actually cared and standards that were there already that people were used to... you didn't dare release a game that didn't have 3D positional and virtual audio.. and because sound cards were a thing and audio processing was a thing and well just decent processors were a thing on PC, you could get away with compression and other things that would help out in the long run when it came to evolving more complex sound schemes..
Then the seventh console generation happened, right around the same time that Microsoft gutted the API, primary development moved to consoles, and at least in the case of the PS3 it had no audio processing capability LOL.. which was kind of cool for a moment cuz we got uncompressed audio LOL.. didn't realize what I was giving up with that, as with the Advent of the Blu-ray.. they could just stack the audio files in there and then not process them and I think a lot of that has to do with the target market too... The sound designs kind of a lowest common denominator and we're just starting to break away from the idea that your primary market isn't just using TV speakers.. or at least designed around that they're just using TV speakers..
It's a lot of things that kind of combine but.. one of the worst things that has happened in the history of gaming to the progression of gaming is the lowering of the standards of certain things in a way where you have a generational Gap.. and if they just genuine never were around when something was there then they don't know to miss it.. there's a lot that goes into that including a much larger market expanding where there wasn't such a large market before, as well as people growing up in the era where games basically play themselves lol... And you combine that with the the obsession of visual in the production value.. and this is in movies as well a very rare do movies have good sound work.. but there is an established baseline and a standard for good sound work so it does exist.. unfortunately.. when it comes to games that kind of went away and the only people that really complained about it much were people from the old sound blaster and eax, and Windows XP days..
My landlord is a musician, he's been a musician for for years now since the late seventies I think.. he will not use Windows operating systems past XP, and the reason he has that is because of the way that they were treating sound back then versus the way that they treated it now.. and that means a lot of you know potential upgrades are left on the table in terms of of both power efficiency and coding when it comes to taking advantage of things but at the same time, like I genuinely know what he's talking about when I think about it and I remember these moments in my life where I actually had good headphones and accidentally got a professional suite of dlls and whatnot installed in the operating system where it was actually kind of in the background.. that actually kind of blew my mind, and unfortunately I also lost it a month or two later cuz it was time lock license.. and unfortunately they took it off the market cuz Nvidia can suck it.. I was never able to get quite back to that.. but I didn't think I was going to lose everything in that regard..
I think the only sound software developing tool stuff that was like the next best thing but still kind of disappointing was the one that EA came up with that you saw in crisis, and dead space and whatnot.. it wasn't as good but it wasn't the worst like the rest of the audio API said gone... And just really sad too because DirectX went from being one of the best ways to to have your your stuff set up to just like the bottom.. like it's it's more complicated than just that, people that know what they're talking about will know that and and if they want to call me out feel free because I just rather have the conversation but.. either way it's like you know I've already gone too far for anybody to read this anyway LOL and it's it's weird cuz it's like what we're talking about what was rather than what you're going to get ever again probably and and even if we get something that's close it's never going to like seem the same because it'll be different and built from different parts and maybe we'll get there but.. it's just it's just really sad because these were not that complicated of parts initially and what it seems like we're going in the direction of to get there is an exceptionally complicated series of parts.. and DRM handshakes naturally.. that's the curse of all audiophiles, the idea that you have to suffer at the inferior output to your Superior system because it doesn't have the latest DRM handshake and you just don't want to pay several Grand for an inferior series of hardware..
Just the idea that I would get a higher quality source stream through my cell phone if it was crappier somehow TV processor because it's processed through the TV app.. then I do through my multimedia production computer with dedicated sound hardware, that in all fairness does all the DRM handshakes mind you.. but I still don't get it I'm not allowed LOL cuz that's.. well that's a computer why would you why would you use a computer for multimedia..? Do you not all have phones?

I got all three Dishonored games for $20. I've done at least 4 playthroughs pf the first game and second game, but only 1 of Death of the Outsider. Something about it just didn't click for me. I think it was that I didn't care for Billie's power set and the story felt a little underdeveloped.

it was a good video but i had some issues with it.
    1. there were a couple of moments when you said "fortunately" and it didn't really make any sense, like toward the end of the end you "fortunately" emily's mother didn't have a lot of interesting dialogue when using the heart or something like that and i was like ???. there was another time you said it and it was just as baffling but i forgot exactly what it was about. i assume you meant UNfortunately for both instances, lol.
    2. as far as the "get woke go broke" shit you were implying with the game having disappointing sales, i'm positive it had nothing to do with that sarkeesian chick you were going on about. i swear she's like a boogeyman among certain gamers and lives rent free in their heads. the general public has no idea who she is and could not care less about her supposed involvement with this game. maybe dishonored 2 just wasn't marketed properly or it simply didn't look interesting enough for most people. it definitely wasn't as fresh as it was in 2012. as for BFV, I can see how sales MIGHT have been impacted when the devs themselves seemed to declare war on some of the playerbase and basically told them to fuck off if they don't want female characters in the game. now personally the game looked weird from the start, the robot arm lady stuff was bizarre, and i wasn't a fan of the beta. i remember when i played operations mode in BF1 and i was dreaming of a d-day operations but that never happened. what a shame.

    • @BoulderPunch
      @BoulderPunch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. I'm guessing I mean unfortunately.
      2. Maybe it didn't come across clear in the video, but I don't think "get woke go broke" had an impact on the game, as I've seen that come up in discussion. Wanted to point it out though and delve into it.

    • @evryfckinnameistaken
      @evryfckinnameistaken 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@BoulderPunch 1. right, that makes sense lol.
      2. that stuff rarely if ever has an impact. probably the only time it might've had one was with BFV like i said, but that's it. It didn't happen with captain marvel and and it's not gonna happen to other "woke" games like TLOU2 regardless of what salty neckbeards think.

There isn't much woke in the game? Oh, come now, that's just not true. Billie Lurk's presentation as an ostensibly sympathetic character for the first time coinciding with making her a lesbian? Aramis Stilton improving miner's rights in Karnaca through the power of dicking the old duke? The devs crowing about how they made Emily's lover ambiguously gendered?
I'm not saying don't add gay characters, before any twitter freaks want to crucify me. Just, why are all the gay characters either shining wonderful people, or the only villains that are presented sympathetically?
All the straight male villains are Saturday morning cartoon villains by comparison.

i had a horrible time playing this, because of techincal issues, which builded up frustration a lot. Like the best representation of my playthrough was the first mission. The caption didnt spawn and i had to restart the my playthrough and after that, well every guard for me had like a randome chance to see me through walls. Also shadows didnt really work for me, like i was standing in the shadows 200 meter away from a guard and he saw me. For me it was pure line of sight I did not finish the game since my experiance was so horrible. The one thing that also pissed me off id whjen you're seen for a split sec they are gonna investigate for a while. I likely wouldnt mind the mechnic IF THE OTHER MECHINCS BLOODY WORKED, it just builded up frustration. Good video tho

The irony is that if what Delilah says is true, then she is the legitimate Empress! This doesn’t mean she’s a good leader and brings up why monarchies were/are a problem. Unless there are laws for royalty to be born in wedlock. Do they understand DNA. Can Jindosh or Sokolov determine lineage from blood tests. If true, then Emily is a dirtbag upsurper, and illegitimate ruler! If grandfather Emperor treated Delilah fairly, like Emily’s mother, would Delilah grown up a gracious leader. Nature vs nurture. At this point Emily is better so one would “vote” for her, so it conveniently works out. But what if personality’s switched. And Emily reinstalls her cruel Delilah-like world and adamant about her justifications, so it brings up uncomfortable political scenarios.

At the time of games release i was playing it with a pc (5820k+980ti+16GB of RAM, game installed on SATA SSD) and the game ran as expected (very well!). From my point of view, the game was optimized well .. My 2 cents.. Anyway, GREAT game! Buy it, play it!..
