Dear Felix, I think I've been waiting for this video for more than 10 years! :D Will sharpen my soldier's knife in the right way finally. Never regretted that I subscribed to your channel. Thanks for your positiveness and please keep doing the great job!
This has brought back new life to all of my steak knives. It has also taught me patience. You have a wonderful process of figuring things out. Thank you for sharing. Respect from Florida USA 🌴
Great vid bro. People are afraid of serrated. And they say, it's not useful. I have cut a seat belt, on an upside-down car, on fire. Serrated, made a fast job of it. Like you showed. It's not that hard, to sharpen. And don't tell, a boat men. Or a diver, serrated is no-good. Thank you, for your video.
Just purchased a Victorinox Soldier today. Thank you Sir for this video. Now i know what to do when i sharpen it in the future. Cheers from the Netherlands.
I’m glad to see that the Swiss Army genius is also from Switzerland!! Thank you for another lesson Felix. Your videos are extremely useful and entertaining. I hope you’ll have a creative winter with the Victorinox knives. I remember the breakfast you made a while ago with the Rocket Stove. We’re looking forward to your next projects.
i have avoided serrated blades mostly because of the problem with resharpening them. Now i am looking for an old used blade to try your technique on! Thanks for the very good instruction and another great video.
@@grovesy333 That's a personal choice, I guess: A plain blade is much more useful to me in my daily life. I mostly use my knives for whittling, stripping wires, pruning, cutting cardboard, opening packages... I only really need a serrated blade in my kitchen.
@@grovesy333 Serrations saw, a plain blade slices. Serrated knives are excellent for sawing through material such as rope and also retain cutting ability under abuse. However plain blade excels at tasks that require finesse such as carving, whittling and skinning.
You sir, are a pleasure to watch! Thank you for sharing your knowledge & wonderfully presented method with viewers! I’ll definitely try to follow your instructions and hopefully succeed in sharpening my Victorinox Steak & Tomato serrated knives from what I’ve learnt today. Thank you again! 😊
I have serrated blades on some kitchen knives, but not on any others that I use regularly. This is an excellent tutorial, easy to understand and follow. Thanks Felix for all you do. Bravo
Great idea, and very simple, all I have to do is make the right size stick for my knife and keep it with my conical sharpener. I love how you used the tool on the back of the knife for holding the angle!
The only serrated blade I have on a SAK is the gutting blade on the Victorinox Hunter (not the Huntsman). Because of the rounded tip, I really like that blade. Very useful.
Great video! Very informative! I’ve used serrated knives for years and though they may be difficult to resharpen I feel it worth the extended sharp life of the blade. This is especially true when cutting lots of fibrous material like rope and banding materials.
Excellent tips on getting the correct angle, thank you! I have just three serrated Victorinox blades, and have struggled to keep them as sharp as the straight edge blades. I’m looking forward to your video on that cool angle finder. 👍
That was really informative, you're a very clever man! And you also play the homemade alp horn with your father, that is just so wonderful. Thank you for this one, yet another piece of how to make life easier. Cheers!

Thank you for that felix I know what you mean about knife sharpening video's on TH-cam saying you should it this way and that way but if you find a method that works for you then you use it and share it as other people may find it very useful I have been sharpening my butchering victorinox knives for over 40 years
I use a different technique on my serrated blades - I first sharpen the dull tips, using a regular diamond sharpening plate and then the Pocket Sharp or a round diamond file to deepen the 'valleys'. Sharpening the tips leaves them not tippy, but more like a micro chisel, so to keep them pointed, you have to do it first. Marking the edge is very helpful in any sharpening process, it lets you know, if you're off the right angle immidiately. See you at the next one - stay safe
Nice! Thanks for taking the time to make this.. I'll be doing some sharpening this weekend. And I LOVE your home made angle measuring device. That's now on my list of things to build too
For fibrous materials serrated edges take the cake! On condition you have the proper sharpening tool with you, I favor a serrated edge vs. a plain one for edc. As far as a defensive purpose is concerned, serrated edges will create a much more devastating cut vs. a plain edge (all other things being equal). Nice presentation by the way!
Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night th-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.
What a great video. Thanks a lot for this awesome tip for sharpening my new soldier, one of my favorites Pocket knives for every day carry... Really greatful.

I like your videos. They always show in a good way new things to learn. And even, for those things which I know already, it shows me that I'm on the right way. I will adapt the trick from this video also to sharpen the kitchen knife (using a helping tool to hold the knife in the right angel) And: I like that you use simple handworker tools (not many modern unnecessary machines) and sure, I really like your Swiss accent from the Swiss Knife Valley ;)
Hi Felix, 😊 this is a simple trick that we can all use, my answer to the problem is not buying a serrated penknife in the first place, ha, ha, Seriously though I have owned one but found it restricting in daily use, so only use plain edges now. Thanks for another interesting video my friend, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
Another great video Felix. I use the Lansky Blade Medic that you showed, for my serrated blades. I have always just held the knife with the serrated edge facing up and tried to match the angle (similar to the technique for field sharpening a straight edge blade). It works ok but I will definitely give your technique a try…it looks like it will give a more consistent result.
