Protestant churches usually have good relations with each other. It’s the prot-catholic, orthodox-catholic and orthodox-Protestant relations which are bad
That's fantastic news. Unfortunately, I feel a lot of us evangelicals and the more high-church denominations tend to be really skeptical of each other, even to the point of questioning each other's salvation sometimes. We need to remember the line that a lot of the Restorationist groups like to use "in essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love."

Also, the apostolic fathers were pretty clear on this as well. “If one should deny the unity of Peter, can he still imagine that he holds the faith? Super interesting and original idea to consider different denominations as making up the Body of Christ! I keep thinking of how other denominations you didn't mention would fit in to this metaphor.
Thank you. I'm a roman catholic from France. I've watched a lot of your videos, and found this to be one of your best, both in insight and in utility (though Saint Thomas Aquinas wasn't a prebyterian 😀) . After so many videos defining who's what, at last, this brings it together. Love the idea of Israel's tribes !
Amen! This was a comment I've been making for a while now. We have a greater war to wage than to fight each other. Not to say we shouldn't debate, iron sharpens iron after all. But we should love each other despite our differences, I point to John 13:35 in conjunction with Mark 9:40 that RZ cited. I'm Pentecostal, and like RZ who is Reformed, I too believe Catholics are Christian, a minority position in Pentecostal circles as well as Reformed circles. I also just want people to come to faith in Christ, been talking to an old friend who's like a brother to me about the Gospel. He's ex-Catholic and has a litney of issues against the Catholics and just in general mad at God, been through some things we shouldn't wish upon anyone. I've been wanting to encourage him to try a Lutheran or Presbyterian church that's in his area for something that's familiar enough without causing heartache. If he becomes Lutheran, glory to God! It would be nice if he became Pentecostal like me, I believe in this tradition as RZ believes in the Reformed tradition, but our focus is on saving souls, not growing membership.
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that understands that 1cor 13 extends far more than just simply gifts. I appreciate every denomination because they have different strengths and I learn from all of them.
The big problem that I haven’t found a solution to is that there are differences in who we believe is saved: unity between say Catholics and Baptists is difficult as one has more requirements for someone to be saved while the other has less. There is an asymmetry in who we count as our brothers in Christ, meaning there is an asymmetry in who we think still needs to be saved.
Just give the matter to God. Look at a Baptist church and judge the tree for its fruits, same for the Catholics. Clearly, judging from their fruits, the Holy Spirit walks amongst both of these traditions even though they each believe radically different and sometimes contradicting things. Who is right? Let God settle such matters, and in the meantime remember that he who is not against Him is for Him.
I think unity has to happen first with the closer traditions and then slowly more and more further out. It won't happen overnight. So this probably needs to be like orthodox and catholic uniting and then viewing pope as first among equals rather than on top. Then you could integrate this kind of church structure with many of the protestant traditions that are hierarchical as long as certain convictions aren't tied to anathemas. Finally, I think the Baptists could be grafted in under certain pretenses. The main thing is that they are left to govern themselves so long as they don't transgress essential doctrine like Christ's divinity
@@BigSneed404Exactly. Arguing about which domination is saved and which one isn’t is such a waste of time. Bro just described the Catholic Church, there are thousands of orders, schools of thought, liturgies, and charisms within the church. Catholic = Universal
This is why I, a non-Catholic, am concerned that unity isn’t truly possible the way RZ describes: most Protestants see most Catholics as equally Christian, but the official teaching of the Catholic Church is not symmetric-no salvation outside the church as it is said.
@ I agree it’s not possible. Technically every Christian regardless of denomination is part of the Catholic Church through their baptism, but Protestantism by its very nature rejects tangible unity.

I have noticed the same focuses of Calvinists and Baptists that you mentioned! I've noticed that most of the Christians who are out there trying to answer the hard (and easy) questions are Calvinists of some variety. I've also noticed that most of the missionaries who are going out into unreached people groups are Baptist/Baptist adjacent. I think that Calvinists are very inwardly focused on the Church and Baptists are very outwardly focused on the lost. It's bothered me for years because both are good and important and I wish that all groups of Christians could have the inward and outward focus at the same time.
Wonderful video. I agree that one of the great overarching themes of the Bible is "What you meant for evil, God meant for good." Just look at the apostles' prayer in Acts 4!
This could helpfully be applied to movements or religious orders as well in particular denominations. Churches that max on one thing often have groups that do some of the other things mentioned.
You tought of a really cool way to see all the denominations. I think that's really close to the truth. And I liked that you mentioned that the LGBT work with their differences under a same banner. We as Christians should do the same, but with the banner of Christ.
I love the people of my church, and I have no problem being a foot, but man I wish I could get intellectual about things in small groups without being made to feel that it's actually a fault...
This reminded me of Acts 11:16-18. We might do things differently and we might not like or agree but who are we to think we can stand in Gods way to make people believers.
That rationale is absolutely wrong, because the epistles preach that God's Church is not divided by traditions, doctrines, or judgement. No matter what rationale the denominations used to explain their nonexistent unity, they're not united by anything except deceit.
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 But are we not united in Jesus Christ, and having access to the Holy Spirit? “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” - 1 Corinthians 1:10
While it’s interesting to think of denominations as different parts of the Body of Christ, it’s crucial to recognize that the true and original components of this Body are the ancient churches that have been around since the beginning of Christianity. The Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches trace their roots directly to the Apostles, preserving the faith and traditions handed down through the centuries. The idea of Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, and Baptists as parts of the Body ignores the fact that these denominations emerged long after the Reformation, diverging from the unified faith of the early Church. If any of those parts were to be considered “denominations,” it should be the ancient churches in communion with Rome, which have maintained continuity with the Apostolic faith. The Body of Christ is anchored in this historical lineage, not in the divisions created after the Reformation. I really enjoy your content and the way you present your ideas in a way that enables simple people to grasp the concepts in the Bible more easily!
As Orthodox I I perceive "the Church is a body" as the fact that it is indivisible. That is, there is only one True Church. As in the Nicene creed: I believe in one indivisible church
I believe there is one indivisible church. It is the church as led by jesus christ in the flesh. It existed once and will exist again. Until then though all we have are churches tained by the interpretations of men. Nobody has it all right. We are all equal in our imperfectness until christ returns.
The problem is that in practical application if each part is moving in different directions the body can not move forward. Each part can have it's separate function as long as they are in sync for a singular goal.
IVE BEEN THINKING THIS FOR A WHILE!!! I 100% believe that just like the body, we are all very different from one another, yet are unified in one function: praising and worshipping Jesus Christ, the one true living, Son of God.
Great point. I'm from a non-denominational background. That... denomination needs a strong Christian environment to spread the Gospel and love the lost here. But they are thriving in the persecution of China. Different gifts in different contexts.
When considering Calvinism, compare Romans 9 and Ephesians 1 Calvinist view with the early church view. As Tertullian wrote in Book 5 chapter 17, the "us" in Ephesians 1 refers to "Jews who first hoped in Christ" and not a prechosen Elect. Further, Romans 7:1-11:12 is Paul specifically addressing believing Israelites so Romans 8:28-9:23 must be understood in that light. That's why Romans 9-11 are the highest concentration of Old Testament quotes in Pauline letters. If Presbyterians are the church's best thinkers, we've had a stroke.
I've thought about the different denominations being the different concentrations of the body of Christ. It makes sense to me that those drawn more to one part of our faith will find others of like mind. But then there's those of us who wish we could fit into a different denomination, but we're where we are by conviction. Here we stand, we can do no other.
Different denominations are not good, one united denomination is. There are reasons why those denominational difference exists, all of which are about salvation. Being consistent with the most important sources is most important, and each denomination has a different understanding of exactly what this source or set thereof is.

It's always a good day when we see the Church of the Nazarene get a shout out. Thanks brother
The last few days I’ve been really agitated by the infighting and I simple no longer care about different traditions’ paths. We all serve Christ, and we all need each other. Thanks for making this. Agree to disagree and care about the agreements we do have.
Preach brother. Every church is equal in the sense that they are all imperfect. If church X brings you closer to christ than church Y does, all power to you. Whether you believe babies should be baptized or not, or whatever other irrelevant theological difference you have, the only important part is that you are truly trying your best to follow christ.
“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Corinthians 1:10 NKJV.
funny that the day i’m watching this the verse of the day is about there being no divisions. 🙏
I love that idea, it's awesome. Different ways to the same crossroad ✝Catholic muscle over here 💪
My local Anglican & my local Baptist churches have a very good relationship 😊
Protestant churches usually have good relations with each other. It’s the prot-catholic, orthodox-catholic and orthodox-Protestant relations which are bad
That's fantastic news. Unfortunately, I feel a lot of us evangelicals and the more high-church denominations tend to be really skeptical of each other, even to the point of questioning each other's salvation sometimes. We need to remember the line that a lot of the Restorationist groups like to use "in essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love."
Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

I'm Reformed and I do agree with you that Catholic and Orthodox can be genuine Christians (often in spite of their soteriology). However, I would make the caveat that the Venn Diagram of the visible and invisible church probably has more overlap in certain denominations compared to others.
well yes
@@redeemedzoomer6053 But just an anecdote to illustrate your point. I have an Orthodox co-worker who saw me reading Lewis one day which in turn led to us discussing our faith. He knows I'm Reformed, I know he's Orthodox. And yet we end up, almost daily, having the most edifying conversations that always end up centering on Christ for us.
i believe many of them do put their faith in Jesus for salvation and dont care about what the pope says you have to do in order to be saved, i didnt find many catholics who show signs of a new born experience or interest in the scriptures, but some of them do believe
the main problem is they are sitting above all of the rest and telling who can or not be saved because they "have the authority"
So proud of rz for bringing this out. He sees the good in everyone and also doesnt denies his self because his self is also proof of working grace of the Holy Spirit. Mmmm, I don’t know. The New Testament talks about false preachers, "For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but have itching ears. They will accumulate for themselves, teachers to suite their own desires.” -2 Tim 4:3. That pretty much sums up the reformation. Also, the apostolic fathers were pretty clear on this as well. “If one should deny the unity of Peter, can he still imagine that he holds the faith? If one should desert the chair of Peter, upon whom the church was founded, can he still imagine that he is in the church?” - Cyprian of Carthage, Against Heresy, Chapter 3 -259 A.D.

Super interesting and original idea to consider different denominations as making up the Body of Christ! I keep thinking of how other denominations you didn't mention would fit in to this metaphor.
This video is phenomenal. Thank you!
As a baptist, I understand from this video that we're all about feet 💀

'diversity without division' is the main thing of the sermon at my church yesterday that's pretty wild
It’s much better to evangelize to those out in the world who are hurting, haven’t heard the Good News, and haven’t found Christ yet.
I’m Protestant and I’d much rather hear a story of a non-believer converting to Orthodoxy, for example, than to be an atheist or agnostic.
@@michaelxx8776 Yes, if someone is an atheist and feels led toward Eastern Orthodoxy, I'll direct them to that, even if I'm a Lutheran. I'll also tell them about Lutheranism, but if they don't want to be Lutheran then at least they want to be Christian.

@@beyond0077 Regardless of whether we believe the other will be saved, Jesus wouldnt have us fight one another about it. He wouldnt mock the others beliefs, etc. At the very least, we can find unity in the fact that both sides with to follow christ to the best of their abilities.

There is only one truth and not thousands of them. God started one Church. There was only one temple in Jerusalem and not thousands of temples.
When when Jesus returns, it will return to that. Until then, though, no church is perfect. They are all incorrect about something. The only thing that matters is that you have faith in the savior.
This video took me a couple of days to finish but boy am I glad I did.
Thank you so much!!!
I had this exact same thought for a while now! Great explanation
Wonderful video. I agree that one of the great overarching themes of the Bible is "What you meant for evil, God meant for good." Just look at the apostles' prayer in Acts 4!
All things work together for good for those who love him
This could helpfully be applied to movements or religious orders as well in particular denominations.
As a Lutheran, I can confirm that Lutherans truly focus on the heart. ❤❤
This reminded me of Acts 11:16-18. We might do things differently and we might not like or agree but who are we to think we can stand in Gods way to make people believers.
Yeees, this is so nice! All Christians must unite! Be friends! We are like the twelve tribes of Israel!
A Spirit that can take residence in all followers of Christ, and thus give them true _peace_ in their soul? This happened to me. I gave my life to Christ, and the Holy Spirit set up shop inside me and thus I now have a deepseated sence of peace. So we do not share this?

Hey, would you be able to do a video on Origen, probably the most controversial early church thinker, and give your opinion on him? Do you consider him a “church father”?

I believe in One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic, Church!
Jesus IS THE HEAD of the Church and we are His Body!
We are part of His Mystical Body..
“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”
- 1 Corinthians 1:10
@Redeemed Zoomer, you're doing God's work. I am in your corner. I am personally trying to set up neutral spaces for clergy to discuss such things.

this is what it means to be ecumenical!! well said RZ and God bless you!
Let us all unite in the name of the King! One God! One Faith! One Nation!
As Orthodox I I perceive "the Church is a body" as the fact that it is indivisible. That is, there is only one True Church. As in the Nicene creed: I believe in one indivisible church
How would you define indivisible?
I believe there is one indivisible church. It is the church as led by jesus christ in the flesh. It existed once and will exist again. Until then though all we have are churches tained by the interpretations of men. Nobody has it all right. We are all equal in our imperfectness until christ returns.
I like the body analogy. It’s scriptural barring the head. “Christ is the Head of the church”.
I don't think our goals are similar enough to work together. It's like a guy building a fence and a guy tearing it down working together.
Don't be angry because of him saying the head are presby, other are catholic. It just analogy.
We must unite to form body of Christ.
@@nikanornatan7783 we should unite around Christ, absolutely! However, Presbys are not our best thinkers. The best are all sleeping.
13:25 yes brother preach! I thought the same thing while ive been watching Fr Shmitz bible in a year podcast!
Catholic here. Great content Mr RZ, thank you. We are in a war.
Being consistent with the most important sources is most important, and each denomination has a different understanding of exactly what this source or set thereof is.
note: this video reminds me of this cartoon called "God's Gang," the cartoon is very unbiblical.
