You need to start with the wiring and make sure to install .fiber optics along with all the available “Smart Home” accessories you can find before you start closing the interior walls. You’ll be happy you did 🤓
Smart home stuff really isn't all that great and for a mansion, a really bad idea. One they get outdated really quickly, two they lack the durability and reliability of conventional devices, and three they make your home way less secure.

Make sure there is a light in every closet, an outlet in the closets is nice for vacuuming, or at least outlets in all the places for that chore. Also, night lights up the stairs. They come on when it’s dark are are so nice if you are headed to bed and turning things off, coming home to a dark house.... they are a soft glow and wonderful.
This is something I'm a big fan of too; don't currently have my own house but I love dim, soft / warm light in the evening
A central vacuum is way more practical for that class of house and eliminates the need to drag a machine around.
Yup ... Outlet at least every 6 feet of wall ... Outlets in corners ... Solar security lights ... VENT THAT BATHROOM 😵💩 ... Dimming light switches ... L.E.D. lighting ... Double keyed deadbolts in glass doors ... Use door lever handles instead of knobs for exterior doors ... No keyed handles (too easy to accidently lock yourself out) ... Electronic door locks mess up ... Don't use graphite or WD-40 ... Dry teflon best ... Wood fired outdoor hot tub ...

Bifolding doors look cool but keep in mind that to screen them with security means you have to nearly tripple their cost and allow space on both sides of the door that is the width of each pannel. Even just bug screening like roll up bug screens is equally expensive.

In the kitchen consider drawers only for the lower cabinets. With full extension drawers, pots, and pans are easier to access and easier to replace. No more losing lids or pots because they are hidden in the back of the cabinet. Love watching the house progress and can't wait to see what choices you make in the finishes.

Matt and Mere, download an interior design app. You can map out a room and see how different appliances, cabinets, countertops, lighting, floors, colors, etc will look.
Under counter floor lighting in the kitchen. Perhaps a fire pole to slide down since the house is so tall already in certain areas. Really thin drawers in the kitchen that display specific knives. Perhaps some firearms concealment furniture like the stuff from liberty-home-concealment or whatnot. Definitely would be cool to have a hidden room or safe room. Good luck guys!

Here is how you determine the order of what to install in the mansion.
1) Concentrate on structural building, both outside and inside. This includes walls, plumbing and electrical as well as decorative items like crown molding, etc. By the time that is all complete, newer products of cabinets, sinks, faucets will have come out giving you more choices and stuff you like now might be discontinued.
2) Kitchen/Bathroom cabinets and fixtures and appliances. In order for a kitchen to have cabinets installed (generally they mostly are all custom to each house) you need to have your appliances picked out FOR MEASUREMENT purposes. Bathrooms are all independent to each other. Different fixtures for each bathroom. Just make sure you have proper measurements for EVERYTHING!!!!
At this point you should not even bother looking or thinking about cabinets or appliances or fixtures. You have to get the house built first!
Exactly!!!! They are too far ahead of themselves, and stuff at the IBS show may not necessarily hit the market, or be in a functional or useful cost ratio. Mansion,
or in this case funky shaped McMansion, they must consider what will work.

I have never heard of a house being built around kitchen cabinets or appliances or fixtures. It's one thing to built to a plan. It's another getting ahead of yourself of looking at irrelevant stuff before the house is even built.
Yeah all what you say is true BUT you have to admit the show was on in Vegas it its really good fun to get ideas with things you had no idea were even on the market.

Get kitchen counter tops that are dark, black with some nice marble effects of some sort. Like the quarts looking crystal type look. I re-did my kitchen recently and went with a nice Grey slab and I like it but if I did it again I'd totally pick a black slab. Black counter tops look absolutely amazing and they can still go with a ton of cabinets, paint and hardware. Do it!
those folding doors are a must for the mansion along with the fancy lights. A house like that needs something more than just off the shelf big box stores! I'm an interior designer who has experience working in paint and have been in homes that size that are full of wealthy individuals. I would get the electrical and plumbing in then walls/ceiling done first so that the flooring doesn't have to be covered and might get dry wall dust and paint on it. Do some passive solar ideas to offset the heating/cooling costs. and radiant flooring if it gets chilly befor putting down the flooring . You need to have a specific style to the house so picking out hardware like faucets , handles, paint colors and furnishings is easier. Do you want the house to have : luxurious large cabin , modern, contemporary or transitional feel ? When someone is going to look for a house that size they expect it to have higher end furnishings. You can get away with inexpensive hinges and possibly handles for things. The black wright iron and nickle colors are timeless. Taupe, greige (grey/beige) and off whites are classic and timeless. Higher traffic areas need more hardy finishes like wood, tile and stone. I you are going to sell the mansion you need to make it appeal to higher end clients . If you are keeping it you can make it custom. Architectural Digest and Dwell have fabulous ideas for home design.
You need at least one or two secret passages in various parts of the house and a hidden gun room/office.
Lighting is vital to get right especially in a house like the mansion. Call in an expert. You'll be glad you did
Look into heated floors in the bathrooms !!!! Easy installation and just the best thing when coming out of the shower or getting up early in the morning. To feel on your feet

I love my full drawers in my base cabinets, laundry chute, auto shades or led window blockers. Maybe consult with a designer for such an awesome custom home, not for the install but maybe to bounce ideas off for a cohesive look.

Look at USB outlets. When I built my house I placed some in the master bedroom amd the kitchen and they are incredibly useful.
Zack from Jerry rigs everything put an elevator in his house for his disabled wife. Put it in by his self & a friend. You need to talk w/him for all your house, phone, truck & more cool things.

Wire ethernet cable throughout the house and put jacks in every room while you still have the chance. Very convenient to just plug internet in vs dealing with wifi. Smart lights are also great for changing room color and ambiance. Install voice assistants like Google home or Alexa.

How about getting solar?The house will be more awesome if you build a wrap a round deck. Make sure the kids get a jacuzzi in their bathrooms. Of course put one in your master bathroom. High impact windows about 10 ft high in the living area for sure, it will open up and bring the outside in. I can picture a zip line going from one of the decks over a beautiful custom built pools.And let's not forget a cool fort that will also be apart of the zip line fun. So many possibilities.
As a construction manager it is time you need to have your appliances, tubs, showers, toilets sinks, refrigerator, ... chosen. Windows and doors should be already chosen. Matt R. Would be your best resource. Perhaps choose a decorator, a high end one. Make sure that he/ she. gives you final say. You guys got this keep up the good work.

You've got to get those doors! My nephew just put them in his new build in Lakeway (Austin area) and they are fantastic. They open to the patio area with outdoor fireplace, kitchen and TV area. They also close at an inside corner, so the open "wall" area is huge! I'm heading to Lakeway on February 15 to see the house all finished. Have a great day!!
Smart automation is what I did in my last house build. Didn't think I'd like it, but now I do. You can go standalone in home, so you can reduce the 'big brother' feeling of it being internet connected, though, getting your house setup before you arrive or after you leave is quite nice!

Time to get past the Safes, Make a Vault!!! Yes, a Vault is easy at this stage of the game and There are many ways to make it totally fire and theif proof. Do it, Do it now!!!
Getting an elevator installed in the mansion is a great idea because if/when you do sell it, it opens it up to the disabled population, especially wheelchair users which are generally excluded from the housing market as most homes are not disabled friendly and then require further financial out lay to adapt it to their needs.
Plus an elevator is useful even for non disabled people - no carrying heavy things up and down stairs!
Quartz Kat it also helps for elderly. So if someone retired and wanted to buy it, they wouldn’t have to worry about going up and down the stairs as they get older
Much easier to put an elevation in now than to try to retrofit it in later.
It's also helpful when you have an injury (back, knee, ankle, etc.).
When you’re talking about a mansion is making it disabled friendly a need? Is it a burden financially to make it disabled friendly for yourself if you’re purchasing a mansion?

A great green room. Lots of plants would be so refreshing. There are water systems on timers so there is no need to remember to water. Even I the bath area you could do pants that love humid places.

The best route to see what you want in place, is to have your Architect do a 3D rendering of each room with the materials you found applied to each section...counters, tiles, paints, rocks, doors, etc... Each manufacturer should have some sort of file to send to the architect to use, if they don't have it in their 3D program. Otherwise, just use the Texas 2-Step method...
Step 1: Buy said item of interest
Step 2: Stick it to the applicable surface...be it counter, wall, or window...and if you don't like it, rinse and repeat.
Sure it can be a little confusing at first, but once the colors and shapes start to blend together, it just won't matter any more !

By the time your house has wall everything you looked at today will have a newer model.
You have to sit down and visualize the style you want in each room. Then you can start looking at what you need.
For example- the kitchen needs flooring first so you pick out tile or wood/laminate then pick color then pick cabinets then pick counter top then back splash then you pick fixtures. Use the same "formula" for all the room and if you choose the same flooring for multiple rooms (say the bathroom)you can order both at the same time and have the bathroom floor ready to install, same with countertop. This will help keep everything organized and on schedule.
But before you do any of that you have to have electrical and plumbing done. That will need to be done before you start figuring out layouts.
The main thing you need to do Matt is stay in the garage and let Mere handled the design work in the house, You get the garage design all to yourself. And of course the underground bunker for your "toys"
Take it from an expert, doors are great to have on a home. Especially a mansion!!

That special door, I’ve seen it at a local coffee shop near me. It’s really cute in the summer time!
That bi-fold style door, when open, would cause wasted space of your amazing views. I would suggest a slider the opens all the one, from one side to the other, that would slide into a pocket wall. You can find them at Panda Windows and Doors here in Las Vegas.

Plumber / Plumbing engineer here.
A few years ago when I was in the field I installed a 2 person shower (rawr), with about 12 shower heads and jets in the ceiling and on the walls. Oh yeah it also had waterproof speakers and a rain shower.
It had a touch screen and bluetooth. You could set the EXACT temperature you wanted, control the nozzels, play music from your phone and set presets for family members' preferences. I think it had Satellite Radio too.
There are a number of vendors that sell them (I think this one was a Moen).
Since it was a new community and no one lived there yet I brought my, then, girlfriend there after the jobsite closed and everyone left.
We used the SHIT out of that shower for about 2 hours. Completely defiled someone's new bathroom (probably left some DNA evidence too).
Oh...don't tell my wife...it wasn't her.
I highly recommend a shower like that....plus put an instantaneous water heater in the house because Mere is going to take extra long showers.

We make the only welded aluminum and glass garage doors on the market and have been since the '50s. We also have the best warranties in the industry and can accommodate almost any need. Our timeshare in Cabo has those doors. They are amazing.
Those treadmills are dope matt! I recently found out about them and use them all the time now, it apparently is harder than running on flat ground. Research states its about 30% more effort in comparison to normal running.
Life proof flooring from Home Depot has truly been one of the “never living with out this again” things we did in our remodel! I highly suggest looking into the flooring! Sterling oak is our color!
