I'm back. I cried. I watched parts 1 and 2 of the 'Beginning the Keto Diet'. Then I went to the pantry, got out the big boxes of Gummie Bears and Peppermints, ran them through the blender, mixed it with water and fertilized all the fruit trees. I lost from 190 pounds to 158 but never got good results on the Pee Test. The trees said they were very happy to have the sugar and associated carbon. I' a happy camper now ! Early in my father’s fight against cancer, (EGFR stage 4 metastatic lung)January 2019, I read your book during my drives to his hospitals. I had started my keto journey in the months previously to reduce inflammation and Lupus flares. Which I felt was a blessing to have prepared me for what we were about to go through for my dad(he and his family now live with us) My Question: you’ve mentioned numerous times your ketones dropping from stress, my stress levels are constant for lupus to Peri-menopause and dad, and keeping the rest of the family happy. Just managed to get dad to 81 : 3 ...BUT - My sugar even after 24 hr fast would linger 90, ketones drop to.5. Or sometimes not even registering. I’ve been fasting 20-24hrs MWF & strictly keto all the time, 1-2 meals a day in 4 hour window TTHFSS. Weight stable (though I’d feel healthier back to 10 lbs less) sadly, I don’t feel great and as strong as I was months ago. What’s wrong with me?

Ooo this is so good! I did not know: lots of fat to build my ketones life if after 60 years of no fat… I alway do better when having eggs and butter as in lemon pudding… or holiday sause… when I eat my butter and egg yokes is when I feel the best and I can feel a big difference in my body.. I am going on a carnivore diet for 2 years and I still can’t lose weight.. I’m going to stop the fasting and start at the begaining. I kinda think this is why I’m feeling weaker and weaker is because I still haven’t got my body up to it fat potential… thanks so much

I have been doing Dr. Bergs Healthy Keto for 6 months, I feel great, I am lean, and energetic. I am doing a 20:4 Intermittent fast Fast/eat schedule every day. Watching both Dr Berg and Dr Boz fills in gaps between the two.
I tried to skip steps when getting back into keto. Not only was the fasting harder, but I didn't get the results. I've noticed that I get better scale drops eating high fat than fasting... (I'm 44, F, down 50 pounds with 50 pounds to go). I love this diet and so grateful for Dr. Boz.

I got my results back. Can’t wait to go over the entire test. It is somewhat confusing. I have recently gotten back from my doctor who did labs and my cholesterol was very high, always has been. She said get off Keto, plant based diet blah, blah, blah. My mood was not good.

That peritoneal version is not a question of if infections but only of when. Hemo in a fistuala is the safer choice. Also, there is a problem for some people on it long term, where their small arteries in their feet eventually get calcified. I suspect that the vitamin k restriction plays a role in this. Some study into whether vitamin k2 would be a possibility for this situation, would be a good study to make.
did not hear how much fat should be eaten. Is it one tablespoon in the morning is it with each meal. How much and when. If anyone can tell me. And what type of fat? I know she has a lot in her life and might no be able to answer right away..can any one help
Don’t look at type of fat, just eat as much fat as possible in the beginning . . . .until that magical moment when you say these words, “I accidentally missed a meal.” Then we can talk about the next step. Without this first step, there is trouble ahead. This “symptom” of satiety tell me your fat-based hormones are in hardy supply. That is needed before anything else.

I’ve been eating LCHF/Keto and more recently carnivorish for over a year. I’ve noticed lately my morning glucose has been low 100’s which I find disturbing since previous ones were in the 80’s. I have never been considered pre-diabetic or diabetic but have lost/gained 30 lbs over and over so I’m sure it has set me up to be insulin resistant. Could going more toward carnivore be the problem? Do I need a more prolonged fast to help me heal whatever metabolic dysfunction I may have? I’d welcome your thoughts.
To be honest it sounds like you have what's called Adaptive glucose sparing, or another name benevolent diabetes. This is in fact benificial. Hope this gives you something to look into
I had "plateaued" and it was very frustrating. After going carnivore 5 days and IF 18:6, walking and drinking a lot of water, today the keto stick registered high ketone levels. No carbs and fasting works.
I take my mct oil from the spoon, drink my coffee or green tea black. My mornings are smooth with work or exercise if my big Rottweiler doesn't chase a cat or someone doesn't run up to me to talk early, very early at daybreak in the morning. My rottie frowns on anyone running towards his daddy. Not acceptable.
Would like to get a sense of your ketone and glucose readings when not fasting - and what you typically eat in a day. Still trying to figure out how much fat to eat and when / how to use BHB to supplement. Plus, how long to target staying at Dr. Boz ratio of 40? What ratio should we be targeting for each day of the week? What targets if your are recovering from cancer? Thx in advance.
Think of the fasting as your MUSCLE / RESISTANCE TRAINING for your metabolism. Your Dr Boz Ratio at the end of a fast should be awesome (Like less than 40.) The rest of the time you should stabilize to somewhere under 100. When patients first start the addressing their insulin resistance the Dr Boz Ratio is usually over 200. As they get better, the average ratio comes down. My ratio during the week used to be “okay” when it was under 150. As my health improved, the ratio stayed under 100. Each time I fasted, the “stress” on my metabolism improved my health. . . Much like the “stress” on your muscles during resistance training improves your strength. Have you seen this video? I’ve seen what to eat but very little on portion size. I’m newbie and think I overdid proteins, but am not sure how much either measurement wise or weight wise a piece of meat should be.

I don't think you finished your thought or i missed it. You and your mom where on keto for 6.months and didn't lose any weight. Did you then reduce the fat at some point? In the neurons group there seems to be some confusion about that. I thought you needed to reduce fat at some point to then burn your own fat but some in the group seem to disagree. Ty!! 💕
I got some urine ketone strips. Every time I test it always says I have a moderate amount of ketones. I then test with a keto mojo and I am consistently in a high therapeutic level of ketosis.

I am a diabetic (now keto for life) and have blood work done twice a year. My last one was in October of 2019. My A1c was 5.5, down from 7.5. I saw my doctor yesterday (for low BP) and, because my cholesterol is high, she asked me if I couldn't take statins or preferred not to. I told her I didn't want to take them. I have been strict keto for the past 8 months. I'm due for my blood work again this month. I'm wondering, do you think my cholesterol numbers should be better by now.

I have been doing Dr. Bergs Healthy Keto for 6 months, I feel great, I am lean, and energetic. I am doing a 20:4 Intermittent fast Fast/eat schedule every day. Watching both Dr Berg and Dr Boz fills in gaps between the two.
I too do OMAD one meal a day. Getting nowhere after four weeks. Wish I knew what was going on. Ketone strips haven’t moved to any color.

I tried to skip steps when getting back into keto. Not only was the fasting harder, but I didn't get the results. I've noticed that I get better scale drops eating high fat than fasting... (I'm 44, F, down 50 pounds with 50 pounds to go). I love this diet and so grateful for Dr. Boz.

I got my results back. Can’t wait to go over the entire test. It is somewhat confusing. I have recently gotten back from my doctor who did labs and my cholesterol was very high, always has been. She said get off Keto, plant based diet blah, blah, blah. My mood was not good.
At least you got some hard data. I hope you got a copy you can show to a keto-loving doctor. They're out there. lol Do Keto until you have fabulous numbers and show them to the negative doctor.

That peritoneal version is not a question of if infections but only of when. Hemo in a fistuala is the safer choice. Also, there is a problem for some people on it long term, where their small arteries in their feet eventually get calcified. I suspect that the vitamin k restriction plays a role in this. Some study into whether vitamin k2 would be a possibility for this situation, would be a good study to make.

Rain N What I gathered from this video is that there isn’t really a limit on fat at the beginning. You want to eat until you’re full. Hope this helps
Don’t look at type of fat, just eat as much fat as possible in the beginning . . . .until that magical moment when you say these words, “I accidentally missed a meal.” Then we can talk about the next step. Without this first step, there is trouble ahead. This “symptom” of satiety tell me your fat-based hormones are in hardy supply. That is needed before anything else.

I’ve been eating LCHF/Keto and more recently carnivorish for over a year. I’ve noticed lately my morning glucose has been low 100’s which I find disturbing since previous ones were in the 80’s. I have never been considered pre-diabetic or diabetic but have lost/gained 30 lbs over and over so I’m sure it has set me up to be insulin resistant. Could going more toward carnivore be the problem? Do I need a more prolonged fast to help me heal whatever metabolic dysfunction I may have? I’d welcome your thoughts.

To be honest it sounds like you have what's called Adaptive glucose sparing, or another name benevolent diabetes. This is in fact benificial. Hope this gives you something to look into
I had "plateaued" and it was very frustrating. After going carnivore 5 days and IF 18:6, walking and drinking a lot of water, today the keto stick registered high ketone levels. No carbs and fasting works.

I take my mct oil from the spoon, drink my coffee or green tea black. My mornings are smooth with work or exercise if my big Rottweiler doesn't chase a cat or someone doesn't run up to me to talk early, very early at daybreak in the morning. Would like to get a sense of your ketone and glucose readings when not fasting - and what you typically eat in a day. Still trying to figure out how much fat to eat and when / how to use BHB to supplement. Plus, how long to target staying at Dr. Boz ratio of 40? What ratio should we be targeting for each day of the week? What targets if your are recovering from cancer? Thx in advance.
Think of the fasting as your MUSCLE / RESISTANCE TRAINING for your metabolism. Your Dr Boz Ratio at the end of a fast should be awesome (Like less than 40.) The rest of the time you should stabilize to somewhere under 100. When patients first start the addressing their insulin resistance the Dr Boz Ratio is usually over 200. As they get better, the average ratio comes down. My ratio during the week used to be “okay” when it was under 150. As my health improved, the ratio stayed under 100. Each time I fasted, the “stress” on my metabolism improved my health. . . Much like the “stress” on your muscles during resistance training improves your strength. Have you seen this video? I’ve seen what to eat but very little on portion size. I’m newbie and think I overdid proteins, but am not sure how much either measurement wise or weight wise a piece of meat should be.
If only you would share your precious wisdom in ten minutes max. Some times we all find ourselves in a severe time crunch, plus, there are always going to be many who just want the facts. People learn in different ways... by wiring as well as by circumstances. I know you want to teach as many people as possible. Possibly, after completing your upcoming book, you could consider something along what I mentioned. One way of the other... you are a godsend, and greatly appreciated!

I don't think you finished your thought or i missed it. You and your mom where on keto for 6.months and didn't lose any weight. Did you then reduce the fat at some point? In the neurons group there seems to be some confusion about that.

I got some urine ketone strips. Every time I test it always says I have a moderate amount of ketones. I then test with a keto mojo and I am consistently in a high therapeutic level of ketosis.
So how much fat is to much? I really would like to know.
FAT: Must be as much as possible until you are at ketoCONTINUUM #3. “Doc, I accidentally missed a meal.”
The supply of your fat-based hormones must be restored before the next layer of education can occur. DO NOT fake this transition. Wait for you to feel the power of restored endocrine surges that are built from fat.
NEXT: Use your well supplied fat-built cholecystokinin and peptide YY to recognize satiety. Eat only 2 meals a day during this phase. Succeed with this for 7 days straight ... No cheating. Eat enough fat in each meal to FEEL this.

Yes. I would start by following your ratios. Down load that spreadsheet(See show notes) and track your numbers. Shoot for a ratio under 80 all the time.
I am a diabetic (now keto for life) and have blood work done twice a year. My last one was in October of 2019. My A1c was 5.5, down from 7.5. I saw my doctor yesterday (for low BP) and, because my cholesterol is high, she asked me if I couldn't take statins or preferred not to. I told her I didn't want to take them. I have been strict keto for the past 8 months. I'm due for my blood work again this month. I'm wondering, do you think my cholesterol numbers should be better by now.

What do you think of Mindy Pelz' assertion females of all ages need to build into their diet days of higher carb intake that she calls hormone building days? The carbs would be something like beans and legumes or winter squash or sweet potato. It will kick a person out of ketosis.
