My result 3 days ago on Keto after 7 months.
I will not name all the symptoms that have dissapeared. Just too many to list. I will just give the numbers.
    TG/HDL 50/75 ( from 220/40)
    LDL 350 ( from 104)
    Total cholesterol 500 (from I can't remember)
    A1C dropped from 5.7 to 5.3
    B;lood pressure from, 140/90 to 120/70.
Weight. Went from 210 to 165 lbs. so far.
I believe if I keep going like this, in another year my LDL will hit 1000.
I will most likely drop dead feeling good. Did you read that? FEELING GOOD . That is how I actually feel

During covid in 2020, I was on 5% Keto, but changed to low carb last year. I got my blood test result back last year: Cholesterol 218; triglycerides 25; HDL 69; LDL 144. I’m not worried about it, and my doctor said that my ratio of triglycerides to HDL was extremely perfect.😂

@@tummygoat33 You need to check the individual types of lipids and not just overall cholesterol. Dr. Berg actually has a great video on that. Also, be sure that your diet is whole foods and no seed oils (canola, corn, soy, vegetable oil). It should mostly consist of non-starchy veg. Some people don't bother counting carbs from leafy vegetables because they have virtually no effect on blood sugar. If you're trying to lose weight, you may have to initially reduce your fat intake a bit and slightly increase protein. You need to force your body to tap into its own fat stores before you give it too much dietary fat to begin with.

From the Journal of American College of Cardiology June 2020
Abstract: The recommendation to limit dietary saturated fatty acid (SFA) intake has persisted
despite mounting evidence to the contrary. Most recent meta-analyses of randomized trials and
observational studies found no beneficial effects of reducing SFA intake on cardiovascular
disease (CVD) and total mortality, and instead found protective effects against stroke. Although
SFAs increase low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, in most individuals, this is not due to
increasing levels of small, dense LDL particles, but rather larger LDL which are much less
strongly related to CVD risk. It is also apparent that the health effects of foods cannot be
predicted by their content in any nutrient group, without considering the overall macronutrient
distribution. Whole-fat dairy, unprocessed meat, eggs and dark chocolate are SFA-rich foods
with a complex matrix that are not associated with increased risk of CVD. The totality of
available evidence does not support further limiting the intake of such foods.

cholesterol and triglecirides are stored in our fat cells, when we stop carb intake the fat is released and we burn the triglecirides, but the cholesterol is slowly excreted with bile and fiber. that is why it shows in our bloodstream. after the weight loss, your back to normal your ldl goes back to normal that is my theory.

Great video and perfect timing for me to see it now. I would say that due to very bad eating habits that built up over years, starting with Saturday morning cartoons and sugar cereal and sugar snacks at least 5 decades ago, I would say that I am in the "200 club", and holding the line at about 100 g of carbs per day for now. Even though I have lost 45 lbs, my morning fasting blood sugar is still in the 110 to 130 range. My worst was above 160 when my weight was at it's worst just a few years ago. Starting with the obvious refined sugars, I find that it works for me to take it one step at a time and am now eliminating the hidden carbs, as I call them, one item at a time from my diet. Stress is a killer, and there is always an awful lot going on to contend with.

How does statins play into this? I know they inhibit cholesterol, CoQ10 and two other molecules . Taking Ubiquinol has been great to minimize the muscle pain and maintain CoQ10. I’m taking a statin because I’ve got a genetic predisposition to reuptake less cholesterol back into the liver for destruction/reuse/excretion. (Even as a skinny teen, I had high cholesterol ). I want to keto (again) to help shed about 20 lbs of new parent weight gain in addition to exercise. Is the statin complimentary or antagonistic toward ketogenesis and stored fat burning ?

    • @garywest3763
      @garywest3763 4 ปีที่แล้ว

There are three types of LDL, one is a smallest size, this is the dangerous one, it does the damage. and the second LDL is a Larger LDL that is Bigger and Fluffy, Third LDL is even Bigger and Fluffier these Larger types of LDL are the Safe ones, as they are to large to get into areas of the body and damage them. So not all LDL is Bad. Also if you eat a Healthy Keto Diet NUTRIENT DENSE!!!!!!! that has a High in Veggis and heathy fat in it, Like Dr. Berg talks about all the Time. But all the Fat you eat has to then go through your Liver raising your LDL, and HDL, again there are three types of LDL, this does Not include the many types of HDL. Eating Cruciferous Veggis is VITAL to cleaning out the Liver, and lowering the "Bad Small LDL" and increase the "Good Big Fluffy LDL" and Increase HDL, the Big fluffy LDL is Good because it is to large to do any damage Unlike the small LDL that does all the Damage. The Body Must have Cholesterol, and Lots of it is Very Healthy. Dr. Berg explains the two types of LDL

Correct. The large buoyant VLDL release energy & cholesterol to all our cells. Once they get small & dense, they are supposed to get returned to the liver. However when insulin is high, they liver doesn't want them and they stay in the blood & get oxidized and cause damage. Especially to the walls of our arteries.

Hi there, I love your videos. My LDL is even higher this time than last time it’s 262, triglycerides are 65, my HDL is 90 and my lipids total is 356. What do you think I can do without going on a Staten? My doctor tells me I am aGood candidate for one, especially with family history. She also tested my fluffy LDL’s and they are very high, into the 2000s. I’m 62 and live a healthy lifestyle. What do you think I can do to lower them?

do not worry about your cholesterol ,its the good fluffy cholesterol anyway,,,however if you are eating carbs and sugar ,,then its a problem ,,because y our body will make AGE;S ,,,and then you have a problem !!!!

One important metric is your HDL/ Triglyceride ratio, 1/1 is the goal. You are better than that I wouldn’t worry

For those of you that have lowered carbs, to a keto-like level or a bit higher, like 100g/day - can you comment on your BP? Has it changed from before? Up or down? Also, Dr. Box mentions triglycerides in the blood with regard to eating fats but I was under the impression that carb intake drove triglyceride levels and fat intake drove LDL levels. Can anyone clarify that? Thanks.

Mine went from 150/95 without meds before Keto to a perfect 115-120/80. I’ve always had borderline high BP. If you get rid of inflammation your BP will go down. It happened in a couple of weeks for me. Dropped the BP med dose by half and then stopped. By 1 month hopefully you’ll see the best numbers if you’re strict. No cheat days. No BS fake keto boxed crap. Real food only.

The video was partially incorrect. Fats you consume are packaged into triglycerides inside a vessel called a chylomicron. These fats travel from the intestine, through your lymphatic system, and enter your bloodstream through a portal vessel near your heart. Carbohydrates you consume enter straight to your bloodstream as glucose. Excess glucose gets converted to triglycerides by the liver, and then they are packaged into lipids called VLDL. So triglycerides come from both sources, but becomes more problematic when on the standard American diet where excess carbs is the norm.

Hi, I've been doing keto for about 2 years now and OMAD for 1. Lots of improvement in many markers..
BUT-- my LDL has shot up and stayed there, > 200. (even with low fasting insulin 2.6 - 3.2)
I am Apoe3/4 so I think that might play into it.

Hey Jake, my LDL shot up also. There is nothing wrong with that. There is a blood test you can take that separates a large particle LDL from small LDL. The large is beneficial for you the small is harmful. My small LDL was 331 in a range of 0 to 525. My cardiologist said I did not have a cholesterol issue at all.

The video title says she was going to explain why cholesterol levels go up on a keto diet. She did not explain it. she did not even stay on topic.

    • @nolanerunner1
      @nolanerunner1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She did explain
It’s because you’re using up all the glucose and fat and it takes time for this to happen so you basically don’t test for cholesterol cos your blood is going to be full of it
It should settle down once your weight stabilises
It’s happen8ng to me right now
I’ve lost 11 kilos and I’m not a big person and my cholesterol sky rocketed from 5.8 to 9 🥹
      I’m not worried
I’m getting my heart checked again and if my calcium score is zero again as it was last year and if the angiogram shows no structural damage I’m fine
      Blood pressure is good
      Trigs are low
      Sugar is fine
      Weight is good
I’m doubting whether I’m in danger of stroke or heart attack

Some do.Ive been keto 2 years and my total cholesterol is 320 but my HDL is high 97 and triglycerides low 100 so Im not concerned nor will I take a Statin. Brain function needs cholesterol and I believe dementia and Alzheimer's increase is because of statin use

DR Boz, it will help a lot if you don't try to vroom your words. I mean summarise what process you are saying and just use as few words as possible to say it. This is much more attractive!! Somehow I just keep focusing on those oh so " exciting" words you like to add-in. I mean you have had so much time to think, why do you keep turning up the emotions again and again. Can I just have a list of what you want to say..It doesn't always have to be a fast moving movie or excitement and more cries and oohs ahhhs man that was too much...! Why can't you just be more serious more "understated", like some of the other doctors..This happened and as a matter of fact there was this. Please cut out so much emotional ahs or ohs etc.etc..You cannot be describing the actual change of the actual chylomicrons. Just say, it becomes this and that, full stop..No need for added excitement 😄 What is with all that extra sounds or fast talking? Why? Imagine you are just explaining how to boil an egg so that it is half boiled.. Literally I will just explain that we want to keep the egg in the boiling water for 6 minutes, from room temperature. Please don't say how the boiling water reminds you of sea waves when driving along SanDiego and what the sounds was like with Seagulls overhead etc.. Actually I want to listen to what you are saying but I get so distracted. I am sorry if this feedback is disturbing. Just forget it!
