      not defending him, it's still a lie, but that's only on youtube. he has 40k followers on instagram and gets more than 10k views on most of those reels. he's posted 12 this month alone. that's not hundreds of millions but it's more than 4000. his two tiktoks have 15k and 25k views. maybe he's deleted others, who knows. tiktok can be quite insane with the one hit wonders, i can believe one million, or even two, but several hundred million has to be a flat out lie.

    I hired vans for a while but as I live in the sticks it soon became a real pain to have to pickup the van the evening before the trackday. Drive it 30 minutes home, load it, do the day, come home, unload it, get up early the next day to get it back to the depot first thing and avoid extra charges.
    My solution was a box trailer - super low loading, keeps the bike dry and away from prying eyes. All my kit can stay in there so no loading/unloading. Just hook it up and off we go. I’m lucky enough to have a building it can be locked away in too. The only downside is when I move home a secure place to store the trailer will make choice of property difficult.

  • @camgere
    @camgere 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    11:49 Front end grip. We've all seen racers lose the front end and low side. Scary. There are two cases you need to consider separately. Trail braking up to the apex. Firing it out to the corner exit. The traction circle is helping you out in both cases. Trail braking up to the apex. The front tire IS heavily loaded. It has braking force and centrifugal force. They add in vector fashion at the contact patch. Racing is about pushing to 100% and this is a real danger area. Firing it out to the exit, the front wheel isn't being braked or driven. It just has centrifugal force. If it will make you feel better, you CAN wheelie through a turn. Camber thrust just on the rear wheel will keep you turning. You have to use old school lean right/left to steer. Sluggish. Trials riders and stunt riders do this all the time. Test this out on dirt bike in a nice soft area. You want enough grip on the front tire for effective steering. The front tire is also stabilizing (giving a fulcrum for) rear wheel power on oversteer heading to the corner exit.

    7 years ago when i bought a ducati 749 that had race shift, and every bike since ive converted to race shift, feels much more natural and instinctive.
    plus after selling the ducati i got sick of having to consciously remember to go the other way every single time, so swapped it over and every one since
    i dont see why all manufactures haven't adopted it as the standard way to do it.

    Micheal-I’m a perfect customer for Ducati to sell a Multistrada V4 to, but I tend to turn my nose up at one with a 19” wheel. Part of it is is that as a lifelong sportsbike rider I want to be able to fit my bikes with cutting edge tires and still act like I’m in my 20’s, but another large part of it is that I kind of feel like Ducati has been stratifying their product a bit to force you to spend the extra kidney to get something like a Pike’s Peak or RS. That alone makes me want to look at something like an S1000XR or this new GSX1000GX.
    Speaking of which, I’m also a perfect customer for the GX….. I still have my K5 GSXR from new and love it still. But I have reservations about how they bandy about how these K5 based bikes are so closely related to the old K5….. I’ve ridden a few and they just aren’t the same animal-yes, the midrange is there, but overall power deliver is not, nor is the throttling…
    Which brings me to a question for you-Why does it seem like the Japanese manufacturers are afraid to make a proper super-naked? Wouldn’t it be smarter for a company like Suzuki to build out a monster of a bike with a current GSXR VVT engine, strip the bodywork off, add handlebars and shorten the gearing than keep tugging on the nostalgia of the K5? Everyone who has wanted a K5 based bike now has had one-wouldn’t it be better to try selling a bike that’s competitive with the Streetfighters, Speed Triples, Superdukes, and S1000’s out there for closer to GSXR prices than keep making cheap and cheerful parts bike specials based on 18 year old bikes?

    I think KovertMecha is asking how to end up on bike launches like Lamb Chops, rather than becoming a tester for a bike magazine. Well I guess you have to build an organic following at first, by producing content that people actually want to watch and engage with. From there - if your content is both good and entertaining enough (and a lot of that is down to personality I think) - the word will spread and people in the industry will also start watching. After four years and over 300 videos posted, I'm still trying to reach step one 😁

    Thank you for creating this series, it has quickly become some of my favorite motorcycle content on TH-cam.
    How do you rate the importance of ABS on a road bike? I rode for years without ABS and I’ve never actually engaged my front wheel ABS riding on the road (that I’m aware of). But, I get that it is there in case of emergency stopping - I guess I’ve just been lucky. I've had ABS on my last several bikes, and once you have something it can be hard to give it up! The reason I'm asking is because I’m considering a new GSXR750 (I’m in Canada) based on your glowing reviews of it. The only thing that would push me towards a different bike would be the lack of ABS. Also, I ride a lot in the rain! Thanks again.

    Ogio makes a giant version, the Rig T-3, which is large enough for a track suit (instead of motocross gear), boots, and a helmet. It comes with a good, oversized helmet bag and a (too-big) boot case. I pack gloves and other soft pieces around and in the helmet, to utilize all the space and to further cushion the helmet. The overall case is very heavy, though.

    Race shift makes a lot of sense on powerful bikes on the road. Its much nicer to press down when accelerating hard than pull up. Super Dukes have the option to change from road to race pattern with less than 5 minutes work. The only thing I find you need to watch for is accidently hooking 1st when you put the side stand up. I've never gone the wrong way as for some reason it feels more natural than road pattern.

    Interesting answers today. Couple of quick comments. I noticed few testers (excluding Simon Hargreaves) mentioned the Kawasaki Versys 1000 as a comparable bike to the new Suzuki 1000GX. Seems very similar to me but hey ho, waddae I know.
    On race shift. Back in the days when you could rock upto a race track on a weekday, pay £15 or whatever and test your race bike for an afternoon. (Or was that just Knockhill...!?) My brother was practicing on his KR1 and me helping hold the stop watch. Lo and behold he says, wanna go? So I grab the bike. Trainers, jeans and multiple wolly jumpers on (you've been to Knockhill, right?). And head off down pit lane with the words ringing in my ears, "one up and five down." !! Made it all the way round to the straight and, determined to give it some up passed the pits... yup, 3rd to 2nd. Thirty years later and I can still hear the scream of ring, ding, ding now and what I thought the look on my brother's face was. Oh well, that was the end of my track riding.

    Apologies for the second comment but I just had to ask this question:

    Which bikes/bike type have the best handling and cornering speed?
    - Superbikes, Naked bikes or Supermotards?
    I drive a 2022 S1000RR myself, but felt that my previous Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory had just as good cornering speed on the road whilst pushing on a nice B road.
    The question is purely in regard to handling and cornering speed. Obviously a superbike is faster in a straight line and a motard is better at jumps etc.

    Hi Neevsey, I've been riding the same bike (RSV4) at the track for 9 years. I have not upgraded anything on the bike (other than tyres and brakepads) to confirm that any progression or regression in laptimes is 100% on me. I've taken a fair few lessons but seem to have hit a brick wall. I know that there's at least another 5 seconds a lap in the bike based on what Lorenzo Savadori did on a showroom stock bike with headlights, mirrors and indicators during a 2015 trackday while (probably) not pushing any limits.
    As a "normal" rider that does 6-8 weekends a year at the track, at what point should I be content and allow myself to throw some parts at the bike, because honestly, the temptation is very strong.

    • @MrDeepseadweller
      @MrDeepseadweller 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Sorry to butt in, but I think after 9 years of no mods you have to realise how much you are missing out on. Experimenting with different setups and enhancements is all part of the fun in the quest for lower times.

    • @filipbunalti
      @filipbunalti 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@MrDeepseadweller Completely fair argument. I have got my suspension setup by a race mechanic and made small adjustments to it over the years, just like I've dabbled with different electronic settings and tyre pressures. But when it comes to performance parts, I'm just biased towards maxing out my own capabilities before trying to make the bike faster.
      I'd probably go 2-3 seconds faster on a 2023 Panigale V4, easy. But making the bike faster kind of just defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do here. :)

    Hey Neevsey. Im a dedicated track day rider and my pace is usually around mid pack in the fast group. So given my pace the question im going to ask might seem strange but I've heard you talk in the past a little about using "v" shaped point and shoot lines vs "u" shaped flowing lines. Ive heard other people like alberto naska talk about it as well and it seems simple enough on paper but when it comes to execution, I find it hard to tell if I'm doing it correctly or if I'm using a u shaped line. And although Im on a litre bike, I find that when I intentionally try to have the bike standing up earlier in an attempt to open the throttle sooner my lap times increase in comparison to when i carry a little more speed and just aim for a good exit with a smoother more progressive roll on. So my question has multiple layers, firstly, are there ways to tell if you're using more of a "V" or a "U" line while youre on the bike? Secondly how do you go about figuring out if the bike you on is better suited to the "v" or "u" line? Thirdly once you know which type of line youre using, how would you go about making changes if you want to adopt the other line (be it "v" or "u"). Lastly, how does the whole "v" vs "u" shape line apply to corners such as fast 90 degree corners as I've heard Simon crafar say that the method of a late turn squared off approach sacrifices too much speed on the entry on these types of corners. Thank you for doing these q&a's. Your episodes of wisdom are much appreciated.

I had a set of Dunlop Alpha 13’s on my zx10r, the recommended tyre pressure🎉 for those tyres was 32psi, on this video I’m going to link to the front tyre was about 28 cold, anyway as you see in the video the front tyre folds, well felt like as it suddenly dips down while leaning over, so I had to stand the bike up, anyway here’s the vid th-cam.com/video/ejsYWtPKWuU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5FQFEZ2HktzGbUFv

    A question about my new Triumph Street Triple if I may. I’m planning a trip to Switzerland this summer and whilst there I may encounter rain. People are telling me that the Supercorsas that the bike comes with are not so good in the rain and also that they might not make the whole trip as I’d be doing close to 4000km. I’ve done the same trip with Bridgestone S21’s, S22’s and Pirelli Diablo 4’s on my previous bike, and MT09SP and had no issues, so I could go with those tires but maybe you could suggest a better tire that fits the dynamic of the STRS better. Maybe Metzeler M9RR’s?

    Hello Mr. Neevesy, need you help. Can not choose a bike. Want to do adventure riding, as my work alows me to visit great places in Central - Western Europe. Currently i'm based in Cologne, Germany and will stay here for two - maybe more years until my motorsport contract will be over. I want and my heart wants 2024 Honda Africa Twin (not adventure sports), but here is a catch... Mainly I will be doing 95% of my travels or tarmac (roads). As Germany, Belgium, Holand, France, Austria, Swiss do not have many gravel roads. Then my friends offer me to buy GS1250 or new 1300, which is more expensive. And then at Honda dealership I found 2023 Gold Wing (badger or bagger)... still had no test drive on it, but sat on it and it felt amazing. So... what to choose? Future investment for off road capabilities 24' Africa Twin, or more expensive Gold Wing and keep it for rest of my life... and why the hell people buy super expensive GS for riding on tarmac, when ther is Gold Wing or BMW K series like Gold Wing... for looks and karma points, that they do offroad on GS - what they dont do 99%, or realy GS better bike for road travels than real tourers?

    I had a multi v4, until last week.. there were a few niggles with it , aren’t there always? , the main one being , the lack of feel on the front brake , it was just like there was a pocket of air in the system, no real “bite” to the front brake , the rear was err also kind of Italian rear brakey , it went back to Ducati where the manager confirmed (after pulling the lever to what seemed like almost back to the throttle grip) , new fluid required (it was 2 years old) so who was I to argue , ok I said , great! , proceed sir , I rode off on the loan multi v4s which straight away I felt had more feel to the front brake.
    At this point I would also like to address the 19” front .. its not bad I know they steepened the rake to compensate for the gyroscopic effect the larger wheel has and to some extent it did work , but.., to me it was a little like putting a plaster on a wound that really needed stitches , it kind of worked but wasn’t really the answer , it was a still a little vague and with the lack of no steering damper the front used to shake a bit to (not as scary as the zh2 I had) I wanted my mummy quite a few times on that when it was on the stop .. 💩 anyway ..: back to it. Upon return the bike i rode away was defiantly better although devoid of that bite stylemas should offer, I think it may be down the abs unit or maybe the systems incorporation of the adaptive cruise .. I mean if you happen to apply the brake alongside the application of the radar braking it was night and day , it was so powerful almost like it should be from the stylemas, maybe some of the systems power was diverted through this system, I have no idea but it was a real niggle , I totally agree with you , the v4s should really have had the 17” front wheel , like it’s predecessor I also had…,weather it was to compete with the gs as being able tackle the occasional bit of turf alongside the tarmac who knows ? With the rally version now in the wild I take it homologation for this model would not have been needed?… I also observe for the IAM and got a st13 for the job , unbelievably the front brake on my 20 year old pan has more bite , it’s also obviously a tourer which kind of justified where I am going with this .. I thought I’d use the pan for touring and the iam stuff and I got a cracking deal on a 1290 superduke r , I got 3k off the list price and a bit more and it has the track pack and 4 years warranty and it’s the evo and I got a chunk of money back , in comparison the superduke feels like a kids toy, for me it’s the ultimate fun bike, having such a huge amount of power low down makes for a great road bike and yes the front brake is amazing !! I can also have my cake and eat it with rubber , so I totally agree in a long convoluted story alongside your statement yes Ducati did shoot themselves in the foot with the 19” front wheel , it’s a little devoid of feel from the front end compared to the 17” rivals it has its definitely more gyroscopic.

    I have a question which I bet you've never been asked before - do you know of any organisations that run track days for people who have absolutely no desire to be a hero, rub a knee or knuckle on the tarmac or otherwise pretend to be riding in a video game? I would love to go around a track but would be terrified of damaging my motorcycle (FZ6 in lovely condition), damaging myself or ruining someone else's day by pootling around and getting in their way. I am sure many of your followers will be scratching their heads at the idea of gently going around a track at 40mph instead of 140mph, but we're all built different eh?

      Hey. I'm with you. I would like to go round a track for fun and the lack of fear about oncoming traffic and blind people pulling out of side roads etc. But have no need to "push" it. I have no desire to risk my nice new bike, nor the cash to throw at a track bike. The impression I get of most track day riders is wannabe hero racers with too much to prove, so I stay away.

    Hey Neevesy don’t you check in your motorcycle gear in as “sporting equipment” I always check my car racing equipment in as sporting equipment and the airlines take it and it doesn’t come off my personal baggage.

    Anyone can become a road tester now. Just hassle your local dealerships to let you test ride their entire stock. Then make a load of generic and fairly shallow comments about said bikes, taking particular care not to slag off the bike so the dealer refuses to give you anymore rides. After some crappy editing, upload the videos on youtube and there you go. Easy!

      Is GP-shift necessarily any better or worse than the standard road-shift pattern for the road?
      If you start and end in 1st gear, you have shifted up and shifted down exactly the same numbers of time, so it doesn't really affect street-use in any meaningful way unless I'm unaware of some ergonomic advantages.
