Damian is my favorite. He is just so brash and intentionally a terrible kid that he is funny to read, and it gives Batman a different dilemma, instead of teaching a Robin to fight, Batman has to teach the kid how to be a good kid as well as a hero who has morals.
I am so upset we haven't gotten a full Batman and Robin TV series in the full Grant Morrison style. Imagine the twisted neon design and horrifying stories. Plus, we would be able to incorporate Red Robin's storyline. There was so much wasted potential with that one. Minus Jason Todd's hideous outfit (and storyline) and Morrison's blatant hatred for Jason were the ones I never liked in the series, but even that could be fixed. Get Stephine Brown (batgirl) to seek him out with Blackbat (Cassandra Cain). It would put them in the spotlight, and Steph's past with Bruce is a good comparison/contrast with Jason.
@@MsCassidy23 Nah Morrison understood Red Hood in a way that the New 52 writers didn't. He works best as a villain imo. You can't turn him into an anti-hero without stripping him of his extremism, or making Batman appear lax.
Dick has firmly cemented himself as Nightwing for decades and represents true growth. Tim Drake to me will always be to me the definitive status quo Robin.
@@BePatientSeeLove aw come on don’t tell me you don’t care about his sexuality being changed to bisexual when his history has never ever given us any indication that he was gay they did that for that LGBTQ movement it just feels like it’s out of character for me
In what way? Because Dick did have a solo series back in the late 40s. Dick was also the one to found the first Teen Titans. As much as i like Tim Dick kind of already showed Robin could stand on his own without Batman.
@@shadowspider9Dick did a lot of great things as *a* Robin, but he's not *dedicated to the identity and what it entails* like Tim is. He's the OG but he moved on from the mask to do his own thing (and sometimes help Batman when he needs it). Tim meanwhile stayed to define it further and hammer in *why* Batman needs a *Robin* and not just a friend/ally. (Saying this as someone who's fave Robin is Dick btw, not trying to bash him)
I meant mainly from a ooc perspective also. Iirc Tim still maintains the longest run of solo Robin comics, and while I think it is part of what makes him the best, he is also a Robin who we got to know personally, as Tim became the hero he is. He also arguably met Batman at his lowest, and earned his role as the character even when he wasn’t naturally gifted at it like Dick, Jason, or Damian. Had a normal family and life, but stepped up because he recognized he was needed by his city and its protector. He is the most level headed because he was a civilian for most of his life, not on the streets, an acrobat in a circus, or an assassin from birth. Normal kid, normal school, girlfriends - he is the most relatable as a character to the average teenager. (At the time, lol) I love all Robins too, I just resonate more with Tim’s level of heroism. He was a very well written addition to the Batman mythos and imo an “anchor being” for the bat family.
Tim is THE best Robin he's not a sidekick like the rest of the robins hes a partner to Batman hes able to stand next to Batman instead of being in his shadow and he has the skillset to prove it
Jason has so much potential as a character, due to the unique nature of how the writers decided his death. It's also cool how short his Robin run was compared to the other 3, which means that his character getting retconned works the best. It just sucks that writers absolutely have no idea what they're doing with his character nowadays.
@@dragon_nammi Seriously apparently the reason fans first hated Jason is cause he was exactly like dick that's why they voted for him to die. It's wasn't until jason came back from life with a crap ton of issues did fans start liking him. They literally had to resurrect him from the dead before they started a proper storyline with him
@@alexdobre852 He’s bi, not gay, and I feel it was a pretty natural development. I remember the late ‘90s message boards, fans were speculating about his sexuality for most of his existence.

Tim got me into comics and is my favorite comic character. The first comic I read with him had him and batman chasing some bandits into a zoo or something. This was the early days of tim's career although I didn't kno that, I was a kid and didn't kno there was a difference. Batman tells robin to stand lookout on some lookout point so he does, while he goes to chase the bandits. While tim is up there he sees a guy with a gun, who is pretty suicidal. Tim talks him down from hurting himself or anyone else. Batman stops the bandits, as tim helps the guy get the help he needs. And batman ends the comic with an internal monolog saying he knew he picked right with tim. The thing that made me a fan of Tim was that he didn't need a mask or a cape to be a hero, he simply helped someone who needed it. Ever since then, I've loved that character
Personally I have always loved Tim Drake specifically as Robin. Probably cause I grew up with the New Adventures of Batman and Teen Titans. But if I were to go with who is my favorite “sidekick” to Batman it would have to be Nightwing/Dick Grayson. Thank you guys for your content! You both are awesome!
I'm sorry but i love damian 😭 i mean how else do you expect a kid to turn out under the absolutely RUTHLESS training of the league of assassins. like his mom literally ingrained in him to be stealth killer machine. Ever since he first became Robin, under Bruce's training he has found a family and he's learning to be, well, human. He's unlearning a lot of stuff he was taught in the league of assassins and trying to put his bloody past behind. He isn't at fault, his mom is. But he's slowly regaining his footing especially since lazurus island. my ranking is 1 damian 2 tim 3 dick & jason
Actually a lot of Damian growth both in the comics and the DCAMU (he haven´t really being around anywhere else) is because of Dick, actually for a little while it was funny that Batman was the light side (yes, Dick is definetely worth of a blue ring) and Robin (Damian) the dark side
two words: Cassandra Cain. who had an even MORE abusive "childhood" than Damian, yet was able to understand killing was wrong. if she can do it, why can't Damian? also, if he is never held to a heroic standard, why should he ever WANT to act that way?
@@helenafarkas4534 girlypop Cassandra is a lot older than Damian meaning that she's a lot more mature. That's why she isn't as bratty as him. Btw, have you ever heard of conflicting morals? Killing bad people before they start influencing or taking the lives of the innocent is morally subjective. It is not inherently good or bad in a general sense. Every person has a different nature and thought process. Cassandra thinks killing people is wrong regardless of their crimes, and Damian thinks that killing people before the crimes escalate is the right thing to do. This is because of their own individual beliefs. Also, Cassandra didn't kill anyone in the real world until she was 8 years old and then she ran away. I suspect Damian was a lot younger when he made his first kill. Before Damian could even develop any sense of morality, he was taught by his mother that killing was okay. Also, no one holds Damian to a heroic standard but as he meets the Bat Family and sees how much good they're doing in the world, he starts holding himself to a heroic standard because he starts believing in his father's mission of fighting evil. I also belive it's in part because he wants to please Bruce.
Dick is the overall best, Jason is well Jason, Tim is the best detective, and Damian doesn’t get his own footing until his own run but him and Bruce in the current Batman and robin run are great.
@@sageoverheaven jason is my fav because he is actually feared by alot of thugs and criminals like batman but jason actually gets the job done by killing them unlike batman. and thats why there scared.
I think Dick and Tim are tied for first for different reasons. While I have a bias to say Dick is my favorite, Tim was there to purposely put himself in batman's life because he needed a hero as well. Dick was (un)lucky circumstance but still did a lot for Bruce as well.
While Dick is the bird who could fly from the nest without barely being taught, Jason was the bird who was wounded and fell from the nest but was still able to learn how to fly on his own. Also upon his return from death, Jason also trained withe league of assassins and aquired some level of mystical training and the ability to summon magical blades against enimies of pure evil. There was also his time with the outlaws and his very interesting relationship with Bizarro. I feel like Jason's main weakness is his estranged relationship with Batman because part of his greatest strengths as a character is being the broken mirror of his mentor, the fallen son, the black sheep. But because Batman could never bend his code to kill and even more so impose that rule on his family, he can never reconcile this fact for Jason as it does too much to progress the relationship and offers to much charachter growth for American Comics status quo. With the way they are currently written they have to stay at odds innorder for Jason to continue to shine as an anti hero/outlaw and Batman being resolute on not tolerating anyone of his family killing people.
There is a flaw in your "not tolerating anyone of his family killing people" statement: Alfred "I do not subscribe to such niceties" Pennyworth. That said, I think Jason does better as a reminder that even the Batman can fail, and the friction it creates between the two is where their dynamic is at its best. With the other Robins, though, he has a much more relaxed relationship. They are like a group of siblings, where Jason and Damien are the heavies, Tim is the brain (though all of them are highly intelligent, they all recognize Tim as the smartest of them), and Dick is the older brother that provides the words of wisdom that help them all move forward. I could quite literally go for a comic just called "The Robins" just to watch them shine in their own right as their own mini-league.
@@jrob4795 Are you talking about the Robin comic series, or the Bat Family comic? The Robin comic series DID/is doing well, and as far as I know there is a series running atm, unless DC decided to kill it. The Bat Family comic was a slice-of-life comic that didn't appeal to many, and is a totally different concept than what I was bringing up. I was putting forth an idea for an action comic where the Robins/former Robins are out being heroes, as a team all their own, using the strengths of each other to accomplish what they can't on their own. As far as I know, that comic has never been produced. At best we have seen a few of them working together at the same time in Titans.
Tim is the best ROBIN, Damian is honestly most interesting and complex of all the Robins but Damian is just himself, I prefer him as his own character, the problem with him is inconsistency. I hate some, love some
Jason is my favorite because he had the dynamic of using his time as Robin to make up for his time as a street rat, he was only Robin to redeem himself and shows the compassion that batman hides
Tim is hated the most by joker because he hurt jokers ego and single-handedly foiled him, something that none of the other robins have ever done and even Batman sometimes
Grayson will always be my favorite. He's the one who started it all. he is loved by other heroes, his Bat-family always needed him. Damian respected him. Bruce always thought of him as his oldest son, Alfred trusted him so much that he gave all his inheritance to Grayson, and he's also the leader of the Teen Titans. Even in the comics even the bad guys knows he's the first Robin. Todd was never a Robin, he is but the essence of him being a Robin wasn't there. but it was a good call that they killed him off because he's the most hated Robin back in the days. but people loved him as Red Hood. Drake though not my personal favorite but he is the true successor of Grayson as Robin. He's basically Grayson's Robin 2.0. Sadly nowadays comic book writers doesn't know what to do with his character anymore, it's like he's stuck where he is. Damian..... I like Damian as a character, but not as Robin. I understand why people doesn't like him, he's arrogant and annoying. But for me I think the writer really wants him to be the embodiment of a youngest in the Bat-family. Though I think it's not that bad, because there are plenty of rooms to improve in his character development. as his story progress he starts to become mature especially in the recent comics. My overall, I'm going with Grayson, Drake, Damian, and Todd.
Each robin depicts different aspect of Batman ✅❤️ Demian - Combat Skills, Violence Tim - Detective Skills Jason - Rage, Vengeance, obsession with mitigating/controlling the crime, Planning Skills D. Greyson - Acrobatic Skills To me greyson is the closest to be called the true successor of the Batman out of all the 4 robins. He is the most well rounded robin. But still no one is completely like Batman.. There is, There was & There will always be only 1 Batman.
I don’t get the “Jason’s Robin career didn’t happen” mindset. He’s has a sh!t ton of stories as Robin and much more charecter than just angry boy. Jason at his best was an ally kid turned bookworm who valued life until life no longer valued him. He’s not just red rood or the Robin that died. Just imagine- if Jason wasn’t killed by the joker there is a good chance he would’ve gladly became Batman and that’s not a stretch of the imagination. I blame the New 52 for dumbing him down and the industry in general that kept him that way. Loved the video, but boy do I have my problems with modern day forever red hood with no reason to continue his non existent war on crime (nothing in a modern day red hood story means anything, Jason always goes back to being overly violent and canon back to status quo). It’s a rough time being a Jason Supporter
Thanks for watching! Agreed it’s a very rough time being a Jason fan , especially when his character is never allowed to grow/evolve and instead constantly regresses to his murderous self from when they first brought him back to life
I love Jason and think you put a lot of passion into your thought here, but I’ve gotta say I disagree, the New 52 was the best thing to ever happen to Jason his story with the outlaws is some of the best and most underrated of the entire new 52. For all of the faults and misguided decisions they made with that era, he got the best of it. Prior to that as red hood he was very 1 dimensional hell bent on getting revenge for his death (hush - Battle for the cowl). Jason is awesome but its his failure as Robin, and his indomitable spirit that makes him awesome. He was never going to be Batman but that doesn’t define him nor does he need it.
Robin-hatin' Starlin was the first to dumb him down. I love the one-and-a-half dozen issues from four months after CoIE until he got his hands on Jason (Detective Comics #571~581 and Batman #408~413+Annual #11), but a shit ton of stories those are not. I remember when in the lead-up to Hush in the early '00s DC declared Jason to have been explicitly 15 at time of death instead of the implicitly 13 he'd been for well over a decade, and people were speculating whether it was just to lessen the blame easily put on Bruce and/or whether they were retconning Earth-One Jason's career into New Earth Jason's (with the precedent being that Earth-One Jason's junior membership on the New Teen Titans spanned until half a year after Crisis on Infinite Earths). I happen to have recently reread that era, and as adorable as Jason is in it, I just don't see how to make pretty much any of it work on New Earth or the current almost indistinguishable Prime Earth. But even if we fudge things enough, that's still just 4 to 5 years on at most 3 regular series at a time and with few crossover events, whereas Tim got 18 to 20 years as Robin pre-FP on commonly up to 6 series per month including his very own solo series plus frequent crossover events. Dick and by now even Damian also easily dwarf Jason in terms of stories as Robin. So, yeah, it's a blip.
My favorite Robin and DC character is Jason, I think his character is the most interesting and contrasted from the other Robins. Especially since Batman thought Jason only had two options. Batman thought if he didn't take Jason in he'd be a criminal for the rest of his life, or he'd be Robin and learn how to grapple his personal issues and turn to the right path; which is also ultimately the same path that got him killed But I think the best AS a Robin is Dick Grayson, he held the mantle for the longest in universe, and he was honestly a combination of all the Robins after him. He was strong, but not the strongest, he was smart, but not the smartest, his combat skills were strong, but again not the strongest of the Robins in that field. I guess what he does have is speed and agility over all of them though, but overall I think he's the Jack of All Traits of the Robins. Also, really good videos guys, definitely gonna blow up in this comic book community frfr.
The point you bring up about Batman thinking Jason only had two options is a great one, and part of why, even though he didn’t literally kill Jason himself, his death is ultimately his failure. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment! We’re just getting started👀
I also hated damien when i first read his stuff, but then i read the superman run where john kent suddenly became an adult after travelling through space, and seeing him so happy to see his friend again made me love the kid. Then I read dceased, and while it is an elseworld story, it's damien at his best.
DAMIAN WAYNE is a Shakespearean tragic hero. Reminiscent of two legendary epic characters : 1. MORDRED Prince of Camelot torn between his father noble King Arthur ( Batman ) and his mother evil sorceress Morgana La Fey ( Talia ). 2. OCTAVIAN the heir of the great Julius Caesar ( Ra's Al Ghul ) and the son of his grand niece the cunning Atia Of The Julii ( Talia ). For DAMIAN, the legacy of THE DEMON HEAD is stronger than the legacy of THE BAT. He will inherit The 3 LEAGUES : SHADOWS, LAZARUS AND ASSASSINS. Tim Drake can remain as Robin. Terry McGinnis will be Batman Beyond.
Except Batman accepts Damian and they won't get into a fight. Also in this case Talia does let Damian make his own choice and she does make up with Batman.
I really feel like they don't know what they want to do with him. Dick is Nightwing & Jason is Red Hood so they have the "hero" & "anti hero" roles that he could've graduated into filled, b/c now if he truly graduates into either one, he WILL be compared to either Dick or Jason. Damian has the advantage of blood ties, making him a shoe-in to carry on the family name & Steph even fills the "shape in the night rooftop hopper" role as Spoiler
Dick was the best Robin because he was the first and laid the ground work for what any other Robin must be capable of in order to fill the role. What makes Dick and Jason so good is that they grew up and moved on from being children to adults with their own identities. Tim needs a growth arc from Red Robin into something else as he ages. And Damien is the current Robin, excessivley serious and thinking he knows everything, needing to learn how to be a child and that in turn teaches Bruce that he needs to relax. The mission does not always come first.
For me I like Damian, mostly because I like the idea that he has to choose what who will will be the next Batman, or the demons head after his grand father dies. The other reason I like him is that he learns how to be a better person by the bat family Batman teaches him how to be a hero, Grayson teaches him how to be a regular kid, and Jon teaches him how to be a friend. Yes I know Jon is not part of the bat family but he was born in the bat cave so that kind of makes him a member of the bat family. All this being said, I’m a big fan of Damian character.
Tim also has this interesting bit of characterization in some versions where he is trying so hard to live up to what Robin should be, and not be just another Robin in the cycle. He isnt too pushy against Bruce most of the time because he knows what happened to the last Robin who was like that. He doesnt want to be Nightwing, or Jason, or even just Tim "the 3rd robin" Drake, he wants to be ROBIN, and everything that stands for.
Try killing nightwing in injustice, getting alfred killed when Thomas Wayne got in main timeline, being very insufferable and entintled, taking a lot of time to grow out of what i said above and sooo on
@@nikitahatamov4312 Injustice Damian is NOT the real Damian Wayne in the same way that Tim Drake is NOT the real Tim Drake in Batman Beyond and the animated series.
Damian is my favorite robin and even I can understand the hate. It's usually because he's annoying, pompous, and always picking a fight. Pair that with writers constantly butchering his character and making him the most unlikable piece of crap (injustice), most have a negative perception of him. Also, some of the best iterations of him (supersons, DCAU) are forgotten or have been discontinued.
In my humble opinion I think that all robin reflects something in batman character, d!ck reflects his passion for saving others and his hope on trying to save everyone, jason reflects his anger and fear of failure, tim reflects his critical thinking and stability, damian reflects his passion for fighting and stubbornness, but honestly all of them have something special and different from each other in many ways
8:52 What Grayson is and has become from Robin to Nightwing will always be the best…. Yet Tim Drake is also my favorite Robin when they brought Redx from the Teen Titans TV show to the comics I wished they made Tim redx and give him his own city to protect like Grayson did when he became Nightwing... Or bring the gray ghost character from the Batman animated series and make him the new gray ghost… I want more Tim Drake comics
Dick Grayson is the best Robin because he was the original and oldest. He learned most everything from Batman but was not a complete sidekick to him. Dick left Batman because he saw the brutality and darkness of Batman and swore to himself he would find a better way. So he became nightwing who is pretty much just a lighter version of Batman. I’m pretty sure in some comics, nightwing has beaten Batman in a fight too. And he is such a good big brother to Damian.
I see your points on Damian, but hes an interesting mix to the bat family. Remember he was raised by ras al ghul and talia. He was never gonna be normal. Hands down tim is the best robin. but dick is the best character out of all of them.
I don't get the Damian hate, he is the same character as Jason Todd but he is more witty and tries to be funny because he is a kid who thinks he knows best instead of a angry vegence filled and lacking perosnality guy, but Jason has a red mask and two pistols that look cool so everyone allows it
Damian is despised by Tim fans since he took the Robin role from him. He is also hated for his bad potrayals in Injustice and the dcamu. There is also alot who just ignore his character development and focus on the first appearance where he was intentionally written to be unlikable.
Dick Grayson has always been my favorite robin, but I think Tim Drake was the best “robin” for batman. I think Dick Grayson is the best hero after they left Batman. I personally think Jason dying and becoming Red Hood is one of the coolest moments in Batman’s history.
Tim is the best Robin for Bruce, he’s the only one who’s seen as an equal when working as Robin. You see this at the end of crisis and right before new 52 where it was Bruce + Tim and dick + Damian. Not only that he established that status quo for Batman and Robin
For me personally Tim Drake is my favorite because I got into Batman because of the Lego Batman games and the Arkham games in which Tim was the Robin. He was also the Robin for most seasons of Young Justice. I liked Tim because how intelligent he was and how he became Robin by himself and had to put in a lot of work to prove himself to Batman that he can be worthy of being Robin. He also the longest solo series as Robin and was the first Robin who had a solo series and the series itself was really good you got to see Tim try to balance both sides of life and just to see him grow up and become his own man when he became Red Robin was great. The only thing that bothers me is that he wasn't able to strike out on his own and become his own hero in the way Dick and Jason have done he was doing that before the New 52 but not anymore.
Honestly Damian isn’t bad like that like the only scenes people keep remembering are the whole injustice scene and even the whole Alfred passing away. But they don’t talk about the good things he done.
If I showed this to my friend who loves the Bat-family webcomic, she'd go down on you guys for the hatred of Jason. However, listening to your recap over how he was see in the comics, how they portray him in the webcomic makes more sense. There's a whole episode where Damian is trying to figure out his weakness because there's so little information on him, yet he is able to determine the weaknesses of everyone else on the team. While I grew up with Batman, I never grew up with the comics, so the fact that they had to make something up for Jason in that episode is very interesting. In the new arc of the same webcomic and even before that, it's clear that his biggest weakness is the PTSD he went through when he was killed by the Joker. Any reminder of it sent him on a mental spiral that took him out of commission. Still, knowing what you shared does have a lot of his actions and motivations in the webcomics make a LOT more sense.
I called that 900 number back in the day to get rid of Jason. For years we thought Jason was like Uncle Ben or Bucky and he could never come back... Guess comics can never leave the dead to rest in peace.
I would normally agree when they bring back the deaf. But man, this is like one of the very few resurrections done right. The Red Hood just holding up a giant spot light on Batman's one rule. Why is the Joker still alive? He killed me! I was like a son and you just beat him up and keep throwing him into Arkham. How many innocents have died becuase Batman upheld his one rule? That being said i love Bats for that, becuase it was him trying to hold onto his humanity even if just barely. Batman needs to have his rule, but Jason can still show the hypocrisy.
Damian is my favorite bat family member but I don't like him as robin or with Bruce. I think Damian works best working with Dick as his sidekick. Damian was a great robin when Dick was batman but Dick's not batman so Damian should take a new codename and work with him
Excellent video and lots of cool effects for sure and I truly love your video game style background pictures. Personally however I do disagree a little bit about Damien being the worst character because I truly think that a lot of people misunderstand him because of his origins and the rough way that his character was first introduced. I truly believe that he has become a more interesting character over time and truly you should look more into a lot of his modern stories. I strongly believe that he has developed better over time and in the modern comics I like him a lot, but truly for sure Tim Drake is still my favorite character in the mantle and I strongly thank you for the praise that you gave him. Also I strongly believe that Jason is also unique because he was built up in such a different way from the other characters. I truly love Jason Todd and I definitely believe he deserves more recognition in the future. I think every one of them is amazing in their own way but it’s also true that the main version I think of for Dick Grayson as Robin is still the one from either BTAS or Teen Titans. I haven’t really read any of the early comics which include him as Robin so I only think about the cartoons. However that also just works very well for me because it’s something that I grew up with and it has a special place in my heart! Thanks again for sharing this with us. Tim Drake is definitely my top pick and the stories that I’ve read with him have made him very special to me!
@@darthrevan5976 that dynamic came around after Cass was adopted. There was a brief period between Steph’s ‘death’ and Cass’s adoption where hints of a romantic relationship were developing between Tim and Cass.
Totally agree on Damian, and Jason! While Dick Grayson is always going to be my favorite, there is something to be said about Tim. We saw when he first showed up how far behind he was from every stand point outside of intellect. He wasn't brave, physical, or on his game in the field. He had to develop that over the years. Training with Lady Shiva, and suffering the arc of his parents and friends. By the Red Robin series and Ras calling him Detective while him showing how he isn't Bruce and has learned from Bruce and Dick to evolve into something more as far as Robin is concerned. IMO
Nightwing is my favorite DC character, so much so that because there was 2 Alex's in my highschool class, and a ton of people with my name in Middle and High School, people started calling me Nightwing. To this day, my friends call me Nightwing, and they introduce me as Nightwing to everyone new they meet 😂. It's such an honor to be called Nightwing honestly, and it's basically one of the best things to ever halpen to me!!!
Dick is the robin which best exemplifies what the mantle is meant for, and Tim is the robin who never wants to move out of bruce’s shadow and instead to one day fill his shoes.
Tim Drake began as the 3rd Robin. Then he became Red Robin. But DC made him the Gay Robin. He was even turned into The Drake wearing a brownish superhero outfit.
Tim also became the Future Batman who wanted to kill Batwoman. He was even Batman Beyond when Terry McGinnis died. He returned to being Robin. Now he is the forgotten male Robin who isn't Nightwing, Red Hood or Damian.
Tim is the best Robin, considering everytime we get a tv, game or movie of Robin, they implement everything from Tim's Robin. The bo staff Tim did it first, pants Tim did it first, detective and tech savy Tim, red and black suit Tim, everything we love about Robin mainly came from Tim Drake.
The new Batman and Robin run in Dawn of DC makes Damien so much more fun. He's got a fun dynamic with Bruce where hes simultaneously trying to be Bruce's dad and equal while Bruce is trying to make Damien go to school and be a good dad to the only Bat Family member he has left.
I LOVED Young Justice Dick Grayson Robin, to me he truly felt so youthful and clever and cheeky but also caring and tactical. When he said he didn’t want to be THE Batman to Black Canary I thought that was powerful.
Look you can have a favorite, but there is such an important difference between favorite and being the BEST. And Tim is clearly the BEST, even if you don't think he's your favorite
Dick fulfilled what Batman needed personally while Tim fulfilled what Batman needed in his fight against crime . Depends on what you find more important 🤷♀️
Tim works perfectly with Batman and it’s mentioned several times, Batman isn’t just beating up bad guys but also detective work which Tim is also really good and helpful in, Batman himself and nightwing both mentioned how he is the best as robin, Tim is the one robin who understands how important robin and Batman are and he knows Batman needs a robin. So yeah, Tim is the best as robin. People who disagree just think this is a “who’s my favourite robin” thing, it isn’t, whoever is the best robin isn’t based off how much someone likes the character. It’s based off facts.
My huge problem with Tom is that he keeps on reverting back to Robin and then back to Red Robin and it's confusing since Damian still also goes by Robin. (BTW my favorite Robin is Dick Grayson and he's also my favorite DC character period.)
When you guys were talking about Bruce seeing another him at the circus reminds me of the animated movie quote with wonder woman. “So that he would end up like you ?” “So that he wouldn’t”
Bro, that’s not from a movie it’s from season 1 of Young Justice ( a 2010s tv series) in an episode were Batman considered Dick as a potential JL member
Also, there were a few years' worth of pre-Crisis Jason stories when he was basically a carbon copy of Dick. For the Man Who Has Everything falls into this era. There is an interesting run as well where Nocturna almost becomes a pseudo-mother figure to him.The street orphan aspect was only introduced as a complete retcon after Crisis, and they killed him off quickly after that. So it is correct to say there are few canonical stories of Jason as Robin, but there are a lot more if you factor in the pre-Crisis version. Some of those stories directly contradict the post-Crisis story, but some could be weaved in with little fuss.
The minute you said Tim drake was the best robin, I cheered HAHA. He is my absolute fav of the four and of the robins in general ( if we're including batfam tho Cassandra Cain is right up there ;] ), He deserves the praise, especially with him being so shafted nowadays :' ) I do love DG for being the original and the Fun Robin if you will, and bounced off of Batman's personality very well, but Tim's deductive skills and introduction will always be my favorite of any robins and well fits the mantle~ Wonderful video btw !!!! 🤍
Just went back to rewatch this one. Great video. Love the levity and the passion around the list. I personally think Damians character being flushed out has done worlds for his Robin. And let’s not forget …he was Graysons Robin when he was Batman. Jason for me is at the bottom. How can he be anything but? His best and most memorable moment is dying and being a scar Bruce learns from. I think you both nailed the top 2 spots…Grayson is the most important but Tim is the best Robin. Think of it like the Godfather movies. Godfather 2 might be better than the original but you can’t have part 2 without part 1. (We don’t speak of part 3) 😊
Jason is the most underrated robins because Jason is more relatable compared to other robins because he has a “broken sense of justice” because he feels people should die for certain crimes and I feel like people can relate to that more especially if a person had a loved one die from something like robbery and people also underplay Jason’s combat skills but because bat man was going easy on him they think he’s weak even though most of the people Batman fought he was going easy on them.
Speaking as an extreme casual in terms of comics think the fact that I had heard of Nightwing but none of the other Robin alternate superhero mantles says it all.
Tim is the best Robin for multiple reasons. But the main reason in my opinion, is a simple fact that he knows that Robin is an essential part of Batman. And the Bo Staff is awesome
Damian is my favorite Robin for sure! My head-canon is that he is autistic and being with batman was a chalenge for him cause all the rules he knew about the world wasn't the same anymore. He had difficulties adapting to the changes.
Damian doesn't need to be autistic. He is an AL GHUL. The Demon's Family. Raised by Talia and Ra's to inherit and rule over The League of Assassins. Were Bat fans expecting "snails and puppy dogs tails" ???
Damnian is going to be the next Batman. Dick doesnt want to be batman because not only does he want to escape Batman's shadow, but he doesnt want to enter that darkness, that drive that Bruce has to be Batman. He is a more realized version of Batman. This is why he is Batman's greatest success Jason believes himself to be a better Batman, while at the same violating a core principle of Batman. Jason wants to be his version of Batman, but cant move past his own issues to be "The Batman". He is being held down by his pain. Something that Bruce struggles with, and something that Batman shouldnt be. This is why he is Batman's greatest failure. Tim isnt going to be Batman because Tim doesnt want to be Batman. When Batman was hurting after the death of Jason, Tim was there and helped Bruce. After everyone believe Bruce had died, he had hope and became (and should have stayed) a hero in his own right as Red Robin. Unlike the others, Tim chose to be Robin. This is why he is Batman's greatest Partner. And can be called the best Robin, but he is not Batman. Not only does he lack the fighting capacity that the other Robins have, but he just doesnt want to be. He will be an amazing detective, just not one called batman. Damian has many of the positives of his brothers, from intellect, acrobatics, combat capability, etc. The problem is his age. Not just physically but mentally. While he also has many of Batman postives, he has way too many of Batman's negatives. His lack of trust, of faith, the darkness, the obsessive drive. This is what makes him Batman's son. He has growing to do, and he is growing. Thanks to people like Alfred, Nightwing, Jon Kent, Damian is becoming more... human, more vulnerable, and moving away from the issues that plague him and his father. And in time he will have the mantle of Batman, not only does he want it, but he'll earn it.
My favorite guy as Robin is probably Dick. But my favorite Robin (whether or not they changed titles) is Jason. His story is so depressing and compelling that I just wanna give this boy a hug! And I personally agree with him to some extent. Especially his comments about killing Joker. Bro makes so many good points that Batman just kinda disregards by saying “you can’t kill him because I said so.”
I grew up in the 90s and early 00s so I had sort of an interesting experience with Robins. Robin for me was BtAS Dick Grayson (there were a few episodes with "Tim Drake", but Dick Grayson was Robin for most of that series) and in the comics Robin was Tim Drake. He was the head of the Robin solo series I read and he was in the Batman comics I read. I don't think I even heard about Jason until I was older and read the stories where he is seemingly resurrected (Hush) and the one where it is confirmed he has been resurrected (Under the Red Hood). I had the same reaction as you guys when I read Damian's intro comics and it has only gotten worse in the years since because Damian's existence continues to kind of background Tim Drake, who really was my real introduction to who a Robin should be. Even as they introduce elements to Damian that sound like things that I would like about his character it feels more and more that his existence makes them struggle to find a place to put Tim. Dick has moved as a solo hero in Nightwing. Jason has moved on as an anti-hero in Red Hood. Hell, Steph has had two solid identities separate from Robin (both of which she continues to put her own spin on). Tim tried out Red Robin but that just showed how much he really is Robin even after being forced out and the Drake identity is just stupid. He really should have been the no brainer heir to the cowl and the apex Robin, but it feels more and more like the writers feel like the only legacy is a blood legacy. Shouldn't be surprised. They made Terry McGinnis have Bruce Wayne's genes. Hell, if you go outside DC they decided that Rey had to be related to a famous person in Star Wars. Why wouldn't they decide that Tim should bow out and all of the Bat-legacy should be passed down through Bruce's bratty son.
Each Robin had their own thing they were specifically great at. I think when it comes to being the perfect sidekick it has to be Tim Drake. I think he was the best natural Detective out of the other Robin's and he was the least rebellious. He was always in perfect line with Batman, Grayson was sort of stuck in Bruce's shadow longing to find his own identity, Jason Todd was a criminal upon being discovered by Batman who was willing to step over the line if necessary to find justice and obviously Damian was a trained Assassin at such a young stage almost devoid of emotions.
Let us know who YOUR favourite Robin is ! 🤔🐦⬛🦇
Dick Grayson
Damian is my favorite. He is just so brash and intentionally a terrible kid that he is funny to read, and it gives Batman a different dilemma, instead of teaching a Robin to fight, Batman has to teach the kid how to be a good kid as well as a hero who has morals.
Not Tim Drake. Where's Bernard ??
Damian isn’t my favorite Robin but Grant Morrison’s run where Dick is Batman and Damian is his Robin is one of my favorite stories.
Mine is Dick Grayson because it shows how much he grew as a character when he was Robin
Dick is the best character and best overall hero.
Tim is the best Robin.
Yes 100% agree
Tim isn't a good fighter though, he's a good detective though !
@brandonholloman6835 He's an amazing fighter just not as good as Dick or Jason but he's beaten Damien plenty of times.
You're absolutely spot on 👌
Dick became RIC GRAYSON.
Tim became THE JOKER
IN BATMAN BEYOND.
Here's a bit of a hot take, Dick and Damien are my favorite Batman and Robin combo. It was fun to see a lighthearted Batman and a really serious Robin
Not a hot take at all. I'm still bitter how the New 52 reboot took that dynamic away.
Dick and Damien are tied for first as my favorite! A close second is Jason, but that’s more because I love Red Hood.
It's a shame that it only lasted for 26 issues. Morrison once said that they could have written it for a decade.

Dick created Robin, but Tim made Robin a standalone hero
(Saying this as someone who's fave Robin is Dick btw, not trying to bash him)
no tf he didnt make robin a standalone hero lmfao, Dick already been done that
What? What do you mean? Dick did the same thing though lol. Dick went on to join the Teen Titans as Robin AND became Nightwing as well.
(At the time, lol)
I love all Robins too, I just resonate more with Tim’s level of heroism.

Jason todd as Robin is by far the worst just from how short his time was. But as red hood, he's easily #2.
Tim, absolutely. He’s got the right mind and mindset for it, he worked the hardest to earn it, and he’s the most reliable and devoted to the role.

Teen titans robin is Dick. He just uses the staff like Tim for some reason.
Really nicely put. Dick will always hold a special place in our heart ❤️ Thank you for your support!

@@carlosquilez3256 yeah definitely! Damian was Dick's Robin and his positive personality helped Damian out a lot.
two words: Cassandra Cain. who had an even MORE abusive "childhood" than Damian, yet was able to understand killing was wrong. if she can do it, why can't Damian? also, if he is never held to a heroic standard, why should he ever WANT to act that way?

I'd say Jason is the most effective crime fighter. He genuinely got shit done during Under the Hood.

@@sageoverheaven yes
Wym abt Jason?
The comics dont handle jason well, I think its better off if he does his own thing from a distance
@@IIIISaiI don’t like him in Batman stories but red hood and the outlaws is lit af
@@tmac8396They literally made that comic and no one bought it.
I hate some, love some
Fellow Tim fanboy here
Jason is my favorite because he had the dynamic of using his time as Robin to make up for his time as a street rat, he was only Robin to redeem himself and shows the compassion that batman hides
Tim is hated the most by joker because he hurt jokers ego and single-handedly foiled him, something that none of the other robins have ever done and even Batman sometimes
And Two-Face too. He called Robin Batman's secret weapon.
I absolutely love this back and forth style of conversation. You guys play off each other super well! You got a sub from me!
Welcome, Fellow LAD!🤝🦸🦸
I agree Grayson, Tim, Jason than Damien
Each robin depicts different aspect of Batman ✅❤️
Demian - Combat Skills, Violence
Tim - Detective Skills
Jason - Rage, Vengeance, obsession with mitigating/controlling the crime, Planning Skills
D. Greyson - Acrobatic Skills
To me greyson is the closest to be called the true successor of the Batman out of all the 4 robins.
That being said Tim is still top choice imo
Lol

Batman thought if he didn't take Jason in he'd be a criminal for the rest of his life, or he'd be Robin and learn how to grapple his personal issues and turn to the right path; which is also ultimately the same path that got him killed
But I think the best AS a Robin is Dick Grayson, he held the mantle for the longest in universe, and he was honestly a combination of all the Robins after him.
I also think his being unpredictable and ruthless makes him more dangerous then the others
Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne are my favorite Robins.
For all the issues I have with Morrison's Batman run, when they (Morrison goes by they/them) made Dick Batman that was awesome.

I also hated damien when i first read his stuff, but then i read the superman run where john kent suddenly became an adult after travelling through space, and seeing him so happy to see his friend again made me love the kid. Then I read dceased, and while it is an elseworld story, it's damien at his best.
Tim has always been my favorite Robin. When I got into comics he was my Robin. He's in my top 3 favorite DC characters.
DAMIAN WAYNE is a Shakespearean tragic hero. Reminiscent of two legendary epic characters :
1. MORDRED Prince of Camelot torn between his father noble King Arthur ( Batman ) and his mother evil sorceress Morgana La Fey ( Talia ).
2. OCTAVIAN the heir of the great Julius Caesar ( Ra's Al Ghul ) and the son of his grand niece
the cunning Atia Of The Julii ( Talia ).
For DAMIAN, the legacy of THE DEMON HEAD
is stronger than the legacy of THE BAT.
@@huntertezz That is also true.
Depending on what version.
IMO, Tim Drake is the only correct answer. It bums me out how they(DC) has kinda abandoned him. He's such a great character.
You are so right

And the sus jokes with Dick Grayson name top tier 💀😭
Personally I feel like:
Tim evolves into Batman
Dick evolves into Nightwing
Jason evolves into Red Hood
And Damian evolves into an enjoyable person!
I agree with you. Damian is forever
torn between The Legacy Of The Bat
and The Legacy Of The Demon.

Think Tim also has the most iconic Robin suit. I’ve seen some version of it on other Robins throughout the years.
Same
Im from 2026
I don't get the Damian hate, he is the same character as Jason Todd but he is more witty and tries to be funny because he is a kid who thinks he knows best instead of a angry vegence filled and lacking perosnality guy, but Jason has a red mask and two pistols that look cool so everyone allows it
Damian is despised by Tim fans since he took the Robin role from him.
He is also hated for his bad potrayals in Injustice and the dcamu.
There is also alot who just ignore his character development and focus on the first appearance where he was intentionally written to be unlikable.
Damian gives me those always serious hardly ever smiling anime kid vibes
The Damian hate off the jump was kinda wild
Fans do but not in this video.
People who hate Damien and people who love him both contribute to his Popularity I love him because he has Skills
In ranking of how they were as Robin
Tim>Grayson>Jason>Damian
In ranking of how they are when not Robin
Grayson>Jason>Tim>Damian
First video of yall I have seen and you guys rock felt like I was listening to a professional podcast!! Amazing video!!
Thanks for tuning in :)❤️
This vid came from a ranking to a debate about who is the best. I wouldn’t expect less from a hard ranking.
The only thing I disagree with is Tim becoming Batman. It seems that every time he becomes Batman, Tim turns evil.
It’s less Tim turns evil and more the world turns evil. Also we have seen a future where Tim was a good Batman and was married to Cassandra Cain
@the_well-known_stranger2275 I'm sorry what??? He married Cass???
@@darthrevan5976 before the writers decided to have Bruce adopted Cass they were building a romantic tension between Cass and Tim.
@the_well-known_stranger2275 wow I always Loved their dynamic as brother and sister so that feels wierd to imagine that
@@darthrevan5976 that dynamic came around after Cass was adopted.
Dick is the robin which best exemplifies what the mantle is meant for, and Tim is the robin who never wants to move out of bruce’s shadow and instead to one day fill his shoes.
because Tim is was always an annoying little cringe fan boy
I really liked your pionts abt the different robins and I like the duo factor between you guys definitely subbing
Tim Drake began as the 3rd Robin. Then
he became Red Robin. But DC made him
the Gay Robin. He was even turned into
The Drake wearing a brownish superhero outfit.
Tim also became the Future Batman who wanted to kill Batwoman. He was even Batman Beyond when Terry McGinnis died. He returned to being Robin.
Now he is the forgotten male Robin who isn't Nightwing, Red Hood or Damian.
You guys earned my follow with that Superman’s greatest villains video but this solidified it for sure
PLEASE make a whole video about Batman and Son!! I need to hear some wild rants and a ridiculous comic!!
Despite how much DC wants to kill all interest in him and drive him into the ground, Tim is still the best Robin.
13:37 year three? Batman hadn't even been in twelve issues by the introduction of Robin. He debuted before the Joker!
Jason Todd is my favorite character but Tim the definitely THE Robin
I LOVED Young Justice Dick Grayson Robin, to me he truly felt so youthful and clever and cheeky but also caring and tactical. When he said he didn’t want to be THE Batman to Black Canary I thought that was powerful.
Look you can have a favorite, but there is such an important difference between favorite and being the BEST. And Tim is clearly the BEST, even if you don't think he's your favorite
Tim Drake is the only Robin that was allowed to do his own investigations without notifying Batman. Batman looks at Tim Drake as an equal.
Dick fulfilled what Batman needed personally while Tim fulfilled what Batman needed in his fight against crime . Depends on what you find more important 🤷♀️
Dick Grayson will always be the best Robin to me.
Jason and Dick are better overall but no question Tim IS Robin.
When you guys were talking about Bruce seeing another him at the circus reminds me of the animated movie quote with wonder woman.
“So that he would end up like you ?”
“So that he wouldn’t”
I think it says a lot about Tim that in so many adaptations Dick is given a lot of his traits whenever he’s in the role of Robin
Tim was the best DRAKE. Quack. Quack. 😂
New subscriber boys, great channel! Keep up the great work
I love all four boys. But Tim is my Robin. His character is what got me reading comics.
Jason Todd >>>>>>> is so underrated I love him❤
Jason is the most underrated robins because Jason is more relatable compared to other robins because he has a “broken sense of justice” because he feels people should die for certain crimes and I feel like people can relate to that more especially if a person had a loved one die from something like robbery and people also underplay Jason’s combat skills but because bat man was going easy on him they think he’s weak even though most of the people Batman fought he was going easy on them.
I stand by you
Speaking as an extreme casual in terms of comics think the fact that I had heard of Nightwing but none of the other Robin alternate superhero mantles says it all.
Were Bat fans expecting
"snails and puppy dogs tails" ???
Just discovered the channel really nice stuff, love the vibe, +1 sub
Damnian is going to be the next Batman.
Dick doesnt want to be batman because not only does he want to escape Batman's shadow, but he doesnt want to enter that darkness, that drive that Bruce has to be Batman. He is a more realized version of Batman. This is why he is Batman's greatest success
Jason believes himself to be a better Batman, while at the same violating a core principle of Batman.
Jason Todd, dude was done dirty by batman and isn't afraid to unalive villains aka GET THE JOB DONE.
2:26 He Is A Dirty Rat Bro😂
EDIT: He Brings Disgrace To The Name Damian.
My personal favorite is Jason. I love his story and personality and he's easily one of my favorite dc characters
