It's so hilarious to see these people talk of no make up... It seems these guys live in some kinda bubble or in a different country all together... 75% of the country probably more are average Indians financially lifestyle wise etc etc and they prefer simplicity over luxury as they well aware of the fact that life doesn't stop and keep on moving forward makeup certainly doesn't become priority ever except for functions

In most of the movies according to the story the characters have to use heavy make up.
The female characters look like mannequin. So in this movie according to the story the set up is in a village so simplicity was there and no heavy make up.
They are not talking about people in real life.

And you are also saying that the representation of characters needs to be in a certain way which wearing make up as the STORY demands then for what the phrase BEING CELEBRATED was used for...!? either you don't know that majority of Indian women don't wear makeup other than occasions or you assume the films are a true representation of the entire society.
I know that there are so many girls who don't use make up on regular basis but they will apply some when it is an occasion like on someones wedding or any happy celebration or festival. And some girls don't like use make up including me.

It’s not really about the south....it's the overall culture cuz in the south you have people appreciating natural beauty but in the north or mostly all around the world people have always celebrated the "standard" beauty.
