- August 6, 2013 - In March of 1972, when the Crips were in their early years, members of the Westside faction were accused of killing concert goer, Robert Ballou, outside the Hollywood Palladium. Four adults and one minor were arrested and tried for the murder which included, James "Cuz" Cunningham (b. 1953- ), Ricardo "Bub" Sims (1953 -- 1987), Bobby Crear aka Big Bob (b. 1951-2019) the Hawk and Judson Bacot (b. 1949-).
They were all convicted of murder and robbery and sent to prison. We caught up with both Big Bob who was released from prison in 1979 and Bacot who was released in 1983 and they share their story.
Interesting points
- Robert Ballou was never robbed of leather jacket but his friend Charles Alexander was
- Ballou was wearing a green suit that night in 1972
- The only person to steal a leather coat was James "Cuz" Cunningham
- Cunningham assaulted only Charles Alexander with one punch
- The group that beat Robert Ballou was a different group that had nothing to do with the four adults that went to prison.

Back then the justice system and media was more tainted than the streets, it's a blessing that these 2 gentleman are still here to tell this story.
She nice
I went to school LA high with Robert Ballou and was invited to go to the concert. It was the saddest day for us. I felt that if it didn't stop, it would get worse and look at it now!!!!!!
thanks for the upload.....this story was always confusing....glad someone finally cleared it up
Rest in Paradise bro Robert Ballou.
Killed for bullshit!
Didn't know him or his killers but as a man right is right. No awards for genocide
myself included.
Be careful what you celebrating. Imagine if it was your 17 year old at a party.
IKing Allah
You KNOW They OG.. When They Gotta Slap On Them Glasses To Read..💯

its interesting to hear the difference in L.A blacks speech from the early 70s generation to now.
These accents have a Southern dialect to them. Makes sense since lot's of black folks moved from Southern states to L.A.
Yea they do sound like southerners
+dolabla True, but Big Bob is an LA native and Judson Bacot was born in Michigan. So neither of these men are from the south. But yeah a lot of cats from their generation did hail from places like Mississippi or Louisiana.
kurt gerstein yea they sound way more educated
Cause most of the L.A. niggaz back then came from Texas Louisiana Mississippi and the rest of the south it reflects in their slang
When someone is getting packed out, no one person can stop that. Where u from?
Great video.
thanks
Remind me of eddie murphy and martin lawrence

@ 5:02 Bacott slips up and say mack Thomas and the CPT Crips killed him. Dam over a jacket..
Mike sixhunna yah he did caught himself too
He died because he panicked and ran directly into a pack of wolves
KANG CARFENTANIL slipped on a banana peel one of these crips had set up
Crazy it was just that
Freudian slip he was like maaan because he knew he slipped up
They still cant see how they are to blame for some of it. If they didnt run up on dude then none of that wouldn't had happened. They didn't murder the guy but you gotta admit that it wouldn't have happen if he wasnt so quick to be up in the mix
Now this was what cripping was all about respect and honor among yo homies now the 80's and 90's was just pure madness
“Pacifically” 😂😂😂 9:23
I like the way Bacott says "th tha that shit, thats bullshit" lol.
That's messed up ...first soul train event.
That's where the sayin...we can't never have nothin came from in LA.
Because everyone who live in LA know throughout the 80s and 90s any concert or house party always had gangbangers come and mess it up. Turn it out.
It mainly be the females that start it that's how all these beef started coming about think ETGz vs Rollin 60s over a female...Hoovers and Main St. Was once cool with each other til shit happened at a house 🏠 party. But I do understand where you are coming from as blacc ppl we can't have shit becuz someone say the wrong thing shits is on and Craccin and that's on Westside Hoover
they could of stopped the incident but they didn't because it was entertinment for them and knew the guy. That's why they was convicted
+Trey Gaines shut ur dumb ass up
+Long Dong right lmao
Are we to really believe Bacot ran over “to be” with his friend who was going to steal the leather coat? Just to be with him? They’re all guilty by association because it the was entire gang that went there to commit crimes.
Imagine reading the news article of how you were wrongly convicted for a crime you didn't do, Smh. This is really messed up. R.I.P Big Bob the 🦅
Yes every human can do wrong if human dont do wrong or right then god dont examine human
man I am so glad I saw this video for the simple fact that these guys remember the chain gang. All these other cats act like they never heard of the chain gang. These is OG's for real. I was from Gardena and the chain gang was a major issue for us back then. What park was this filmed in?? Is that Hellen Keller Park?? Jessie Owens?? where???
saint Andrews park
The real triple OGs.. much respect....
They ain't triple OGs no mo. Their own hoods won't take em
No respect for killing they own people.
@@smokedoutpositivesquad9463 whatever the hoods take on them. OG still an OG whether they like it or not.
Paul Nathan Delubio ya I understand. Long Beach crips still operates w a lot of older guys. It’s just a lot more common to have gangs around the country w almost exclusively under-25 age membership despite existing longer than that.
this better than most documentaries
Your right. Big Bob is a real G!!! We're telling it like it is. Keep posted more to come.
This innocent boy was even stomped in the face. The heel prints was still in his face. His parents buried him in a black leather coat too as his viewing was public. So sad. Very sad for all of us during this time. Something some of us will never forget. Senseless.
After all these years not once did they mention that their actions and those of their associates was stupid. All of this over a damn leather jacket. Smh!
JayCee Jackson They were teenagers, we all know how teenagers can be. Now if they were grown men doing this, it'll be a different story. Teenage thinking is quite different from adult thinking. Should a person be ridiculed and apologize for things they did as teenagers? They didn't even commit the crime anyways.
@@FreedomBiafra smh don't be involved in crazy stuff in the first place.
@@onlyrog5smh they were teenagers!
Jaholo Bacot was 23 years old when this happened. Only one of the people charged with the crime was a minor, the rest of them were adults. Three adults in a Minor were involved in the killing of a 16-year-old child.
They were fucking losers.
@@FreedomBiafra if they kill willingly they are fucked up
This was a good one. That one video before this one ($tupid Young) was some bullshit. I would've never co-signed no asian sayin "nigga"
What is the name of the outro song?
both these guys r right u try and control gangs by puting the foundation in prison u r left with a brunch of youngsters out of control and when the BIG HOMIES GET OUT 10yrs or even 20... the game has changed big time....
WhoDatKID 504 so should we just let “OG”Rob, beat and jump, for the sake of OGs keeping order?
now this was a good video yall should have made this ppv .. they spit real game iwash they can talk all day ibet they got hella hood stories..
I'm disgusted by this. They're changing their stance now but then they upheld the foolishness. Now it's wrong this young man died but not one of them stopped the killing. They deserve no respect as legends. They were thugs that stole from their own.
respect from Chicago
not the same Bacot.
+marcalejo911 This is the same Bacote from Monster book
David Berman Lowe's Not the Same Day card from the book that's his younger brother Jeffrey I knew both of them as a kid growing up in that part of the city I'm from Inglewood California m************ I remember when they came to the movie theater and was trying to act tough we handle that s***
Thats some rich history right here.
Bacot is a legend...Monsta Kody had him up in his book alot.
His lil brother was he is the big brother on here!
He was a 23-year-old man, who was hanging out with 18-year-olds, and watched them stomp a 16-year-old to death. He was a fucking loser and deserved to go to jail. He was the oldest one in the group and he should have known better.
@@NotoriousN_I_G_ sounds good..But what the media portrays is not always right. Numerous witnesses have stated throughout the years that was not how that situation went down. These men were not the killers.
SHAYDEE3 I never called him a killer. I called him a grown ass loser. He should’ve been a year removed from university or on a job somewhere. Instead he was attending Jackson 5 concerts😂 with children. Lmao. Besides, what does it matter what the media says? I made that determination from the story he just told in his own words.
Steven G Ade um 18-23 year olds generally hang with each other. Both men and women.
Weren't involved, but stood back and let that shit happen.
Salute to OG Bacot and The Hawk. R.I.P Tookie and Raymond
I'm just wondering where is that park with the water playground!? ....
Riley Ulrich 83GC HOOD...THE SHADY 80s
No one has touched on the fact that those exact same coats are back in style. Have been for about a year now.
I think it was the film Shaft (1971) which popularized it.
Glad to see them I heard about them from tookie's and monster's book (Blue rage Black redemption and Monster)
Y’all didn’t murder him, but y’all were robbing folks.🤦🏿♂️
they've served there time for the murder, so you mean to tell me after all that time they're still lieing about it...they can not be retried for the murder again, so why lie about it after all these years...
They still lying cause they know it ain’t right what they did.
Is that BIG BOB from Rollin 30s crips from those prison pics looking like incredible hulk??????
I think that's big james
My father grew up in this Era. He had been in a Lot of trouble before he was drafted. Never hung around gangs. Guilty by association. Sh.. You get away with in Detroit, you can't get away with here in L.A. Had to tell my father that.
#Salute !!
What part of Michigan Bacot from?
Muskegon
Salute big homies..
Bobby Crear passed in Nov. 2019.
So the state focused on youths wearing leather jackets. I think the panther party was the focus of the police.
I have no pity for these guys. What they started led to what we have today. They led and participated in the growing violence among the gangs.
What they experienced was karma. But much respect to them for changing their way and I think they should try to talk to the kids more so they don't make the same mistake
Mo Ahmed this has nothing to do with karma. They were teenagers!
I always wondered who was the first to turn it up with the gun play
Sad and Crazy
These guys caused a lot of death and destruction smh still going on today
What would u have done? Keep it real!
I went to that park when i was little
he did homie, he interviewed L-Boy, Im guessing if he could get Criminal on there that would be dope 2
"I HURRIED UP AND TURNED THE T.V"
Stay tuned. Big Bob ad me, plan to write a series of article ad plus a full length documentary, on that which you speak. We plan to give a complete history of West Side Crips.
Judson Bacot any update?
I sit back and laughed at it really. But when i get out I'll be rich rolling again.
Fucc Everthing rolling
OG Lo SNOOVA KILLA TILL THA CASKET ROTS TEN TOES DOWN 6ITCH WE 6E 6ORN TO PEEL ORANAGES CARROTS N PUMPKINS SNOOCHIE ASS NIGGA DIRTY MINDS GANG OR DON'T 6ANG

What park?
REAL ONES.. respect!!!
Bobby Yeah This was filmed in Saint Andrew's Park.
Ogz movin Cuh
It was 3 not 4? This guy is crazy and the other guy said he was laughing at the robbery and death? Weirdos
He was laughing at the charges when he was arrested get ya facts straight
Sounds like they're saying that Cuz and Bub snitched on them and maybe another unnamed juvenile Crip
It's pretty obvious that Rob talked cuz into doing the robbery and the other OG was going to help and shit went bad.
I'm surprised they didn't edit the slip of the mouth
Das fuckt up...
*Dude that KICKED HIM WAS SNITCHING*
Rip BIG BOB
Specifically stated- damn i hate that shit- lol
what gang did big bob join after the ws crips..u know everyone broke off where did he go?
Rest In Power Big Bob💯
i cant wait
so who is the cuz that they are referring to I didn't catch it or are they really not saying is name
They talking about James big cuzz Cunningham original member of Westside crips I believe he's still alive but older and low key now a days.
they shoulda had a good paid lawyer. no way they shoulda got convicted. the dude who admitted to the kick probably had immunity. the 5th amendment right is automatic.
i read Monster Kody's book and he named bacot as a og nobody had seen in years that had just done 11 years straight.. he had come out to st.andrews park for a gangfight between a etg joker and a 112 hoover macc.. he mentioned bacot as a og from etg...i would like to kno how bacot became a etg, he stated here that he was in the w/s crips, and the gang split into seperate hoods while he was in the pen..i
THIS IS BIG BACOT, HE HAS A YOUNGER BROTHER. THE YOUNGER ONE IS JEFF BACOT FROM ETG
bigslimkapone1 yup
fabmal18 Bacot just passed away not long ago (cancer) Bacot (rip) was the one that folks use to say.."Here come Bacot!" When he use to come bellin up the street.. I use to call his brother Big Bacot cause he was that...I wish the fuck I would have called him Jeffery..he was tight with my uncle Don Archie. Now the stories them 2 use to share..man I tell you...
Park names change over the years.
U can tell they remember from tryin give dat time bacc in court dey aint do it 💯
What park is this?
St Andrews. Says it in the description.
Rob Johnson Thanks bro.
I am a crip incarcerated in the pen for a murder I didn't do which shows how fucced up our judicial system is! .. I would luv 4 the soliders at streetgangs to come holla.
what happen to david paterson
He just said Mac Thomas and the Compton Crips killed Robert !
the rumor on the streets was that the Compton Crips actually bear Robert Ballou, but the only known Crips at the time were the Westside Crips, so they were all arrested. Terrible police work.
***** How about y'all find out who Raymond Washington was living with on 64th and San Pedro !
***** Interview the person that lived with Raymond Washington in 64th and San Pedro
***** You fake Streetgangs are hiding something !!! I will definitely let the streets know that you're hiding Raymond Washington's MURDER !!!!
Streetgangs is 🐂💩
They have this story all fucked up on TV shows.
4:47-5:03 so in Robert Ballou's scenario it was either flight or fight?. 6:30-6:40 St Andrews Recreation Center, Gramercy Park (Los Angeles, CA).
Rest in paradise , OG .. 1love 🙏🏽
Which one of them passed
So many people would have never known who really killed the young man. Not until this gentleman told on Macc Thomas and the Compton Crips. Decades later. RIP Big Bob RIP Macc Thomas
Real OG's
This looks like St. Andrews Park off Western & Manchester. There is no such thing as a "Manchester Park"
CNG TMack Manchester park is off Manchester and Hoover
CNG TMack: Manchester Park is off of Hoover & couple blocks past Manchester
This where Martin and eddy murphy got LIFE the movie from
RIP BIG BOB
They should have stopped they cuz from taking that jacket
I like how they use to fight it out back then. A lot of these dudes had hands. But Ask any of these dudes who had the best hands, they will say niggas from Watts. Bounty Hunters, Grape St, and PJW. The best hands of all, RAY BOYCE from Bounty Hunter, hands down..
And don't forget you got arrested to keep the business in business. The police are in Afro American community to stay in business.
Not making any excuses but they are making logical points. Look it's fucked up that a young man died but people get killed in bar fights all the time and cats ain't getting murder. They get manslaughter. But it's just a fucked up situation that you wish never would've happened.
I was just what to know what they thought was gangster about taking a civilian coat you get on stripes for that
it easy for one man to point the finger at the other man but hard to live in gods hands
