Gaga was EVERYWHERE during this time. You could not escape her, even if you tried. I remember even my cousins in West Africa knew her despite barely having access to internet and international TV. Her fashion, music, controversies and talent worked so well. The explosion of social media and the digital age also helped in making her a mega star. Her name is literally Lady Gaga. It doesn't get anymore iconic.

@@bucknaked905 All this? Don't know what u're talking about. Envy affairs i guess. Even MDNA started hatred towards Gaga because she saw the genius before her eyes with actual gift from God, and not fabricated off of the entire eroticism and lip-synching. For your info she also used the sexual revolution to her profit, so... Social media won't help you if you don't have what it takes, u know.

My god I was sooooo hooked on Gaga during this era! She was everywhere and she was everything! Fame Monster Gaga was born at the 2009 VMAs, after that bloody performance her imagery and music took a darker turn. I remember very vividly when Dance in the Dark leaked, it sounded so different... I didn't know her label intended to release it as a single, they were right, this song is far superior to Alejandro. I've never forgiven her for not giving us a video of this masterpiece.
Watching this video made me realize the Art Pop concept was redundant. The whole "put art back in pop" idea had already been done in her previous albums, there was no need to reaffirm herself as the bold artist she was, everyone saw it.

The Fame Monster changed my life, i was just a kid and was being educated on fashion, clubkid culture, synthpop and electro music, it told me not only it was ok to be weird and artistic but it was cool and i should push myself towards it, when christians and conservatives attack us so much it takes someone really brave to fight for us and that was gaga for me, it inspired me to fight for myself. There's never going to be a new gaga.

Commenters are saying Teenage Dream is better and I do agree, however TFM was 10x more original and exciting _at the time_ in my humble opinion. She brought so much excitement back to pop music that was missing after a decade of R'n'B and rock. Videos barely had dancers let alone 8+ minute dramas like Paparazzi and Telephone. Her older albums haven't aged well though - TD is far easier to listen to in 2023 than TFM, BTW or AP.

As a Roisin Murphy fan I was incredibly bitter throughout the entirety of Lady Gaga's early career. It felt like she watched Overpowered's campaign play out and went "Now let's give that a budget!" But I digress. I actually really like the base album The Fame, but the Fame Monster never did it for me. I've never liked the post-chorus chant refrain epidemic that Bad Romance started, on top of that. I just think Paparazzi and Boys, Boys, Boys are 10000000x better individually than everything on TFM combined. But that's really more a testament to how amazing I think those two songs are lol.

Most successful tour of all time as projected, an album that broke the Billboard and Spotify charts and records, song from four years ago becoming the summer single, how she’s gonna sweep the VMAs and the Grammys soon, rerecordings during this time that broke and will break records.

She has never been the Queen. Having 1 really big pop era does not make someone the queen. With that logic, Katy Perry should be the Queen of Pop because Teenage Dream was bigger than The Fame Monster. The true Queen is Madonna, the woman who has the sales, hits, longevity and impact to back it up. No hate on Gaga, but in any objective measurement, she is not the Queen of Pop.
