My grandma did that and I loved it. So I wanted to do that this year. However, I think they have changed the formula/dye for the candy. I had some extra sauce that wouldn’t fill a jar so I put it into a plastic container to eat with dinner. The container was stained so badly that I had to wash it at least 10 times! The color just kept coming out of the plastic. 🫣🤔
You are a beautiful and talented young woman! You cook, can, sew, garden, sing, play instruments and I could go on and on and to just be 17. You are such a blessing in today's world.
Made applesauce for the first time this summer. I pressure canned it. It turned a warm brown color. My husband tried it yesterday and said that it was delicious. Thank you for the tutorial. You are multitalented!
Sarah that was a wonderful tutorial. You were so great explaining step by step what to do. I love you're videos and I believe that you should have your own you tube channel. I would watch you every day and I'm sure lots of others would to.
I put them in a pot on the stove on low/simmer and let it fill my home with scent. I also make my own ACV, use them in smoothies along with many other things.
Great video Sarah!! Your apple sauce looks delicious will be a great treat this winter! Summer kitchen is beautiful and really gives you lots of room!!❤
Finally directions that I can understand! Thank you! The applesauce looked delicious! I need to figure out this “canning” thing so I can stockpile food. 😕
Sarah you gave an excellent tutorial on canning applesauce! I know you have aspirations on becoming a mid-wife but with your patience and excellent tutorial skills you may be able to combine both and become a nurse educator! The possibilities with these two endeavors are endless! 🥰
🤗I have never watched a video that explained the things to look for regarding jars. Thank you! I may have used jars that are questionable in the past. Now I know! 🥰
Sarah, you did a wonderful job explaining the canning experience. I was around your age when my Mom let me start canning things by myself. Being able to can your own food is truly a satisfying thing. Stay sweet beautiful girl.❤
Sarah my Mama used to can all summer she did apple sauce but instead of canning she would put in plastic freezer bags seal them with her bag sealer and freeze them she did this with peaches too and when we were going to have them we took them out of the freezer and thawed them Janice you have wonderful daughter I learned at a young age to cook and bake from scratch but I never learned the canning
Thank you, Sarah, for your informative , thorough, and to the point video. I really think that I feel comfortable to can now. I want to make some 'apple butter, but I was a little intimidated. I have seen many videos on the subject, but I always felt like I had some questions afterwords. ❤
Wow Sarah! Great job! I married into a canning family so I’ve been doing it for quite a few years now, but would have loved to know it at your age! Thanks for sharing! 🫶🏼 from Kansas City 🫶🏼
Sarah, You are amazing, absolutely great presentation, educational video; loved every aspect of your teaching method, well feeling confident now to do some applesauce canning; video process very well done as well Thank You!
The Summer Kitchen is a fantastic place to film. Nice and quiet with lots of work space. I really enjoyed this video. A nice teaching video Sarah. 😊 A very good Camera Man too!!
Thank you Sarah for the lesson in how to can. I did not know you had to be so diligent in checking your jars, seals and rings. You made it look so easy. Do Anna and Abigail also do canning?😊
Hi Debbie! Anna and Abigail often help with prepping the food prior to canning and they're learning by assisting right now. That's how Sarah learned and it seemed to work well. I hope you're having an awesome day, friend! :)
@ozarkfamilyhomestead thank you yes I am having a great day. Makes me happy to see they are learning too. My granddaughter has been learning to cook since she was 4. My son has a culinary degree and has been teaching her. I love when children have a chance to learn from an early age. They seem to enjoy learning when participating. ⚘️
Great video. Instead of chopping the apples by hand, I use a Vidalia Chop Wizard. Mine has two blades, for small or larger cubes. Works with most vegetables. Bought mine on Amazon.
Sarah that apple sauce looked beautiful. When my girls were babies and toddlers my Mama would can apple sauce for them. My favorite thing she would make was she would take figs and make strawberry preserves. My girls are grown now. Also, my Mama and Daddy have passed away! I still have all my memories though. She was like you she would can a lot. She was like your Mom tried to save a penny anywhere she could. With 4 kids and her and my Dad. Family of 6! My husband's family canned a lot too. Very big garden 8 children his parents and also his grandparents.
Wow nice job Sarah you taught me how to can I don't need to do it but your a great teacher and you have a great photography family as well and it looks soooo tasty to.
Loved your video! 🍏 You’ve motivated me to get in the kitchen! Last mth., I made applesauce for the 1st time. Initially, I overcooked it. It started out very watery 💦. Since I had run some of it through a food mill funnel, I added that pulp back to the original batch, thereby thickening it. Well, eventually it came out great, but it did have a few bits of hard skin in it. Anyway, I’m making more today. It will be mostly plain unsweetened w/ very little spice.
Great job Sarah!! I have the ball canning book. I use it all the time when I can. I have also herd if you freeze dry the apple peels and grind them, you can make apple sugar for recipes.
Loved this just getting started on my canning journey! How many pounds of apples did you use for this recipe? I think we will need more of your canning videos!! Great job!
I'm so proud of you Sarah I've always wanted to learn how to canning and always been afraid to try being a city girl the food doesn't taste the same as homemade
Good job Sarah. Thank you for your clear and understandable instructions. I will try it. I am afraid to pressure can. I have Parkinson and shake so bad.
Fantastic tutorial. I am a beginner, and that was so informative. Thank you! Has anyone ever told you that you have a look of a young Julia Roberts from 'mystic pizza'? ❤🇬🇧

I use red hot candies in my apple sauce. So Good! Thank you Sara great job.
