My grandma did that and I loved it. So I wanted to do that this year. However, I think they have changed the formula/dye for the candy. I had some extra sauce that wouldn’t fill a jar so I put it into a plastic container to eat with dinner. The container was stained so badly that I had to wash it at least 10 times! The color just kept coming out of the plastic. 🫣🤔

Sarah that apple sauce looked beautiful. When my girls were babies and toddlers my Mama would can apple sauce for them. My favorite thing she would make was she would take figs and make strawberry preserves. My girls are grown now. Also, my Mama and Daddy have passed away! I still have all my memories though. She was like you she would can a lot. She was like your Mom tried to save a penny anywhere she could. With 4 kids and her and my Dad. Family of 6! My husband's family canned a lot too. Very big garden 8 children his parents and also his grandparents.

Loved your video! 🍏 You’ve motivated me to get in the kitchen!
Last mth., I made applesauce for the 1st time. Initially, I overcooked it. It started out very watery 💦. Since I had run some of it through a food mill funnel, I added that pulp back to the original batch, thereby thickening it. Well, eventually it came out great, but it did have a few bits of hard skin in it.
Anyway, I’m making more today. It will be mostly plain unsweetened w/ very little spice.
