taxidermy Damnation is a mellow depressive 70’s old man’s rock album, an acoustic unplugged Opeth album of the metal songs turned into acoustic form would actually be more awesome
Go watch them live, usually at the most brutal festivals they do acoustic versions of their heaviest songs like Demons, Deliverance, Ghost of Perdition etc.
The first time I saw them on the Heritage tour they did a substantial acoustic set. I walked through a snowstorm, spent my last money on the ticket, but it was totally worth it. The whole show was great, but how often do they play Patterns in the Ivy II and The Throat of Winter?
Opeth can make anything and I'll buy it. Seriously, they could decide to do an experimental jazz/no-wave concept album of Disney songs, and I would buy it.
Mikael should seriously make the consideration of doing stand-up comedy as a side-career His confidence for it is perfect, his jokes are clever and his timing is amazing.
Cannot believe how tight their sound is considering they had reworked this song only a few days before. Incredible! Axe seems to be loving playin this song on his bongos! I love how Mikael treats his fans, with sarcastic wit and honest respect...
I was there at the church gig Mikael was talking about, The Union Chapel in London. One of the most memorable shows I've been to. Anathema as support was the icing on the cake.
hey should make a double album project, much like damnation/deliverence with one album being a collection of acoustic versions of brutal songs and the other a collections of brutal version of softer songs. this would be cool.
I don't want to sound rude but they already did that, so why would they do that again... I'm expecting a electronic jazz album now because they decided to be unpredictable.
Wow. My god. So, my tastes in metal stop at Pantera and Lamb of God. I’ve heard of Opeth And for 20 years never bothered to give them an honest try. Today is that day. After this performance all I can say is wow. I’m floored by the musicianship and the unison of this band. So dark and haunting yet captivating. I regret not learning of these guys such a long time ago. The lyrics as well, they’re mysterious.
You know you’ve written a great song when it’s just as cool stripped down in an acoustic format as it is in a metal venue. This is why OPETH RULES!! 🔥🤘🤜❤️🤛⚔️😎
I want them to do the soundtrack of the next Diablo Game. They just got the same vibe in their old songs than the first Diablo game (and 2th). This deep, sinister, obscur sound. So nice!
I think I might have been sitting directly to the right of you here. Got to go straight from here to see them headline the New England Metal and Hardcore Fest at the Palladium. Hands down one of the most incredible days of my life. Thank you for posting this.
This video really made my day...I've always loved Mikael and all the amazingly talented members of Opeth. Makes me think they should record an acoustic or "unplugged"-type of album--if they can play an acoustic version of Demon of the Fall that sounds this beautiful, then they can do anything. :)
I always come here when I think life is no longer worth living, you know, fullfil the gas needed to keep happy :) This is such an amazing piece of art that I cannot describe.
Its a bit of both. This is the place I go for my music, but it started as a comic book store on Newbury Street in Boston I believe, but it has 20+ locations now and is where 90% of my CD's where purchased.
He has the best live personality :) saw them in Tampa, FL on 5-3-13 it was AWESOME. would have been very cool to see them in that atmosphere. maybe one day :)
It's not rude and pointless. It's a direct participation of the audience with the band. It shows the appreciation of the people spectating the show . Nobody wants to play for blank husks.
I've always been strongly in the camp that if it doesn't sound like music when played acoustically then it's not really a song, just noise. This did not disappoint.
Look at that, an Opeth performance and a little stand up. Every time. Charming bastard.
"Charming bastard" 100%
Charming Bastard 😂
this tbh, would be the best concerts
Bro, Mikael’s been at this for so many years, and still he acts like a dude whose band is super unknown and up-and-coming. He’s chill af.
That's the coolest attitude imo, that's why he is sooo damn lovable
@@blackbullet4254 yeeh kinda
they should record unplugged album

Lol I have NEVER heard "Old Man's Rock" that sounds like Damnation hahaha

Same.
they kinda did :D

I was expecting michael to go BLEEEEAAAAAAAAARHH!
That's what I was thinking, saw your comment at that the exact same time 3:20
The real letdown was when he didn't do it at 4:36
6:10 that nod that's exchanged by Åkerfeldt and Mendez really warms my heart for some reason.
I noticed it as well. The only 2 original members remaining.
crcaccounts Mendez joined after Moriningrise'd released, 'd ya remember? Nordin & de Farfalla were drums and bass players.
+Neoleggi Darnin Mike isn't technically a original member
Joel Andreasson yeah he is he is the one who created the band
He didn't create the band
he was invited to be a bassist but everyone got kicked out by whats his name and then he left too leaving Mikael alone
Opeth playing Demon of the Fall acustic and The Hobbit action figures in the background... Priceless
I love how even the most evil of Opeth songs are so well constructed, they can be made acoustic with no issue.
Infiltrating. The house. Of god.
Run away. Run away. Run away.
Good album title or song name!
Probly been used lol but good either way
Mikael has one of the best clean vocals in Metal/Rock!!
Juan Diego Carvajal Dirty vocals too! (Back in the day, at least)
Acoustic version of the Demon Of The Fall would perfectly fit in Heritage.
No way man!!!
I don't think so... Maybe like a bonus track.
Demon of the fall is a master piece. Obscure and dark. Heritage is a folk-prog album.
Yeah, heritage is pretty good by the way, I dont really like sorceress, and I only enjoy a handfull of pale communion, heritage is very good.
@@lordmorgoth7 Sorceress is pretty good. Some good riffs and parts of the album are quite heavy.
Demon of the Toy Store

I love that their drummer can absolutely fucking rip on the congas
Whenever I hear the outro of this song, I wish it would go on for 10 more minutes. Same with April Ethereal.
April has arguably the best outro in the history of metal music
00:59 Frederik is thinking "Oh..oh that song..shit how does it go..."
Hahaha awesome
I was there at the church gig Mikael was talking about, The Union Chapel in London. One of the most memorable shows I've been to. Anathema as support was the icing on the cake.
Wow! Can't believe that they actually played this song over there.
Opeth playing an evil song in front of a wall of plushies just made my day.
I'll admit it. I teared up a little at the end when Mikael was singing.
I would do just about anything to have been there.
Dialogue with the Stars, Me too
hey should make a double album project, much like damnation/deliverence with one album being a collection of acoustic versions of brutal songs and the other a collections of brutal version of softer songs. this would be cool.
A metal version of Harvest would make me do unspeakable things with my daddy parts. That sounds SO cool.
Anthony Nelson or a metal version of Closure, that song is already metal without being technically 'heavy' haha
unfortunately I don't think they're ever gonna do the brutal thing again.. i wonder if it has anything to do with the strain on Mikael's voice
+keizenberg the music can be heavy with distorted guitars and stuff and mikael can sing normally?.. tho it wont be as awesome
I don't want to sound rude but they already did that, so why would they do that again...
I'm expecting a electronic jazz album now because they decided to be unpredictable.
i recently got into Opeth, like 2 weeks ago, I LOVE THOSE GUYS!
Band trying to keep in time and the crowd clapping at their own rhythms lol so annoying
the ending verse gave me chills
Hearing that riff at the end toned down genuinely brought a tear to me eye

Simply perfect. Opeth is that band that anything they do will be genius
They played acoustic live during there deliverence damnation tour, absolutely phenomenal
Everytime they get me.. Pure talent and pure music. Love them
BEAUTIFUL ACOUSTIC VERSION!
Only a band like Opeth can take a brutal song like Demon of the fall and make it completely work unplugged. I would buy a whole record of this.

Thats awesome that they performed in a record store. Mikael's as funny as always. and the band sounded amazing.
