Dear TH-cam gods, please allow this masterpiece to end up on Omar and Cedric’s screens and have them do a blind react so we can see them cry openly at how deeply loved they and their music are. ❤❤❤ This cover like- moves me to my core!
been a TMV fan since 2005 and i gotta say this left me speechless. hands down the most innovative honoring of a composition while also completely expressing yourself and making it your own. musicianship 10/10 , style 10/10, camera work and editing 10/10, the bonus 10/10. 👏👏👏
I clicked, expecting to be embarrassed for the person attempting this. Goddamn was I wrong! I wanna heap effusive praise all over this project. I am slack-jawed in awe. I could make a critique, because I'm just critical, but I'm not gonna. And I don't just hand out compliments, either. Amazing work you've done here! You fucking nailed it.
Words cannot express what I just experienced. I don’t understand how it’s possible for one person to have done what you just did. The ending was the greatest Easter egg ever
I saw this video on Monday, 10/23/2023 for the first time. I was absolutely blown away by every aspect of this cover. The vocals, guitar and bass work were absolutely impressive in performance. It is now Saturday, 10/28/2023 and i cant stop listening to this. Totally blown away. One of the most impressive things ive ever seen. Congrats! It is a year later and I am still jamming to this masterpiece. The last bit is so impressive my friend.
Everyone in the comments is talking about how you covered this perfectly and they're correct, you fucking nailed it! But more needs to be said about your mixing though. It's fantastic too!
Holy absolute fuck! My friend, you absolutely killed this. This is my favorite TMV song ever. I adore that you recreated the heavy Con Safo section they do live, as I have always loved that so much, I'm happy you love it as much as I do. Secondly, I am extremely impressed by your vocals. They capture the forceful, passionate, feminine sexiness that Cedric expresses, but yours is unique and totally your own. Also, excellent video editing. I love seeing full Cygnus covers, and they're very rare. I would be excited to see more Volta covers from you. And finally, someone really needs to show this to CBZ or ORL, I think they would go nuts over this. If anyone knows them personally, please send this over to them. Now I'm gonna go leave this exact comment on your reddit post to boost your views hopefully.
i would absolutely love to do more TMV covers, i just love how their songs feel so malleable (especially the longer ones) and feel like storybooks you can change little things about
Never in my life would I have imagined such a clean cover of TMV. Actually “cover” doesn’t nearly do this justice. It’s a proper reinterpretation, and it’s done so beautifully. It’s the kind of version I’ll definitely find myself listening to over and over again. And I’m a sucker for the bubblegum soul touch you gave it by ever so slightly twisting the chord progressions 😭
This is one of the best covers i've ever seen in my life. Thank you so much for understanding what Volta sound means, this band and this amazing cover makes me teary eyed, specially the way you did Cygnus outro just like the live versions.
The most overlooked cover of any song ever. I can't even imagine how long it took you to produce BOTH the song and visuals. You deserve every ounce of fame down to the smallest decimal.
Rare algorithm win today. This is incredible. The amount of work you put in and your connection to the spirit of the song/band is so clear while watching this. Thank you.
I come back to this often, and every time the pure emotional power nearly makes me tear up, this is truly a transformative masterpiece. Deserving to be held in it's own regard alongside the original. This is to The Mars Volta what Johnny Cash did with N.I.N's Hurt.
I keep coming back to this video because it's fucking amazing and criminally underappreciated. You fucking rule, dude. This is an insane undertaking that you pulled off to such an insane degree of competency I just don't even have the words. I love it, i love you, fuck yes.
thank you! i changed it that way because i couldnt quite match the nasally tone of cedrics voice there so i took the opportunity to give it a different twist
This shit is hot, damn. Everyone is admiring you being absolutely faithful to the source material, while your personality still shines through. You gonna make it big and looking forward to follow your journey.
I've made like.. 10 total or so comments on TH-cam in my 17 years on this site, so what ever that means I must say.. This is an absolutely GREAT cover of my absolute favorite band.. I wish and hope more people see this. Your clear skill with arrangement and editing, not to even mention your skill with guitar! I'm jealous! Keep on making music friend, you have the skill and talent, and incredible voice to do so! Can't believe this was only uploaded 8 days ago! Most covers of this band are at least a few years old.. Keep up the good work friend!
If I knew there was a Mars Volta cover, my guess would be that it would be shit, or short, or sound nothing like them. Because they're EXTREMELY UNIQUE, very talented, can belt notes in ranges no one could hit, and a maximalist band, and very psychedelic. Sounds like that are random-ish, so they're very hard to recreate, because they're impulsive, emotional and sporadic. Not to mention, it's a 13 minute song, in 4 parts. This cover is spot on, and even manages to add flare. Guitar, vocals and bass, each just killing it. The guitar solo really captures Omar's work. Not to say the other parts didnt capture either, but to catch notes like that - so precisely is incredible. I notice the pushing on the neck for whammy effect. I do the same on guitar, but I think its known as a sort of a poor man's whammy bar. Is this bend on neck by choice or a lack of whammy bar? Looked into the artist too, and they have an amazing EP as well. A good blend of influences as well as original and unique. Just listened and I hear Kaki King, Thrice, NIN, of course Mars Volta and so many more. Oh, and Finch. Which are deep nostalgia cuts. Especially with the Finch influence, and how and where it reminds me of Finch. The "dark and deep but sparking life behind it" kinda feel. So, the EP as well as this cover are new found gold. Thank you! I really appreciate the music. Am now a huge tan 😍 Kahal EP: th-cam.com/video/itsIjAgLFzQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mw2d6X3lA8OZXX7h Kahal Spotify: open.spotify.com/album/2OqU3W36aGeF4c6782C54B?si=RGbMJzPTTEaMAQqJuq21mQ
hey thanks so much , i dont have a whammy bar and always find when using one i think its gonna be awesome, but i feel like they just get in the way, i pushed the neck for bending chord effect just by figuring out that was something i could do years ago, i think in the song omar actually uses a whammy bar for that part of the solo i’ve also never heard of kaki king, thrice, or finch, id be interested to hear what they sound like n compare it to what i do thanks for the kind words👍❤️
@kahall I think Omar uses a whammy too. I've heard it's not best to bend the neck like that because of course it can warp it. But so long as your instrument has a truss rod, is made well and isn't already warped - then some bending should be aiy't. Very surprised you haven't heard of Finch and Thrice. Your music sounds a lot like Finch especially. Especially in the vocals. And not just them but bands like them too. I think Finch was kinda this poppy So Cal band around 2,000. They started out sounding like Jimmy Eat World and Story of the Year. But overall they sound like The Used. Finch was really popular for a moment, but in their album release called Say Hello to Sunshine, it lost them a lot of fans. As it was darker and different than the earlier stuff. Say Hello to Sunshine is a really good album. A real hidden gem. And your music reminds me of how they sounded in that album, and also in the small EP they released after. So I'd recommend Say Hello to Sunshine. Thrice had an even larger change in their sound. And where I hear them in your music, is also in my favorite albums of Thrice. Vheissu was really their best album if you ask their fans and I. They released a 4 part album called the Alchemy Index after that. It seemed to carry part of their Vheissu sound. So I'd recommend Vheissu, and maybe the Alchemy Index. Particularly the Water one maybe. Kaki King you sound less like. More of a genre comparison. It's female vocals and acoustic guitar and she had some of the added electronic sound on some. She's insanely talented on acoustic. Does the whole Andy McKee/Rodrigo y Gabriella tapping stuff. Basically guitar wizardry and mastery. After hearing all your music and reading your age I was baffled how someone could sound like they have so much musical influence so young. Like someone who has spent years of just listening and being influenced heavily by vast amounts of music. Prodigal, to say the least. Yeah, get some marketing or something 😂 good shit 😍👍
Holy shit this is such an insanely good cover. It captures TMV's style AND it's so unique and it's produced so well mannnn. I hope you're proud bc this is amazing
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING about this is absolutely outstanding but your vocals are on an entirely different level. I don't even have the words to say how amazing your singing is, other than to say you have a 'once in a generation' voice, and I'm not even trying to exaggerate here. The comparisons of Geddy Lee and Cedric are obvious, but you have a unique character all your own. If you are not already in a band, please do the world a favor and find a sick group of musicians to play with and start cranking out magic!
Ok I've just finished wiping all the tears off my face. I don't know how you managed to pull this off, you took the essence of TMV and twisted it in a way I didn't know was possible.
Your entire production is nothing short of a triumph! Could not hold back the natural joyful reactions that came out from beginning to end. The harmonies in the last chorus! 🎉. And CON FUCKING SAFO!! Well done, every element you recreated and made your own.... Soooo very well done. Cheers
This never happened. Then I saw you leave / And crawl into / A bed of broken windows. This is better than the original, and the original is one of my favorite songs. I'm a hardcore TMV fan, and I'm not just blowing smoke. Truly great. Just wow.
This cover made me so extatic I'm still all over the place 10 minutes later reading all the comments. You can take what they tell you without a single pinch of salt. This is truly an incredible cover of an incredible song. You made it yours. Beautiful cinematography too.
YOU DID IT!! I think you captured the spirit of Omar's guitar playing and Cedric's vocals. You nailed their articulations and many of their stylistic choices including Cedric's signature falsetto & vibrato as well as Omar's often chaotic flailing. You absolutely MURDERED (in a good way) the drum programming. Absolutely master level drum programming. I can tell that took a ton of dedication and time. I also really appreciated all the liberties and divergences from the original arrangement. They were tasteful and precisely executed. The production & fx were all on point which people don't often give enough time or easily over do. Bravo sir. Looking forward to more of your work. PS you gave me the same chills that the original does during the FFF breakdown after the extended solo & jam.
this is really fucking beautiful, and what makes this cover really stand out is that you not only recreate the song but do it with smartness and passion. i also got the feeling that you understand pretty well what it is all about - the lyrics, vocal lines and the music. rarely these days do people really understand the mars volta music. thank you so much.
no thank you so much! and yes i had listened to this song a billion times before covering, i studied it well before going into it, i wanted to make sure it had the same level of passionate storytelling energy the original had :)
I'm in the beginning of a creative process to compose a whole album based on my own experiencies inspired on this phenomenal album. Certainly, this cover inspired me a lot more to achieve it. It is an incredible cover!
AMAZED! Seriously....you have restored my faith in the future of music. You not only identified a masterpiece but you perfected it while putting your own interpretation on it. Absolutely stunning. You took one of my favorite songs ever and made me fall in love with it even more.
You are amazing! Absolutely destroyed this song in the best way. No cover i have ever seen of Mars Volta has captured their essence as well as you have captured it here. You are just an amazing musician. Keep going keep goin keep going!
Ok I gotta comment again here... coming from a big TMV fan, production value spot on. This cover is incredible- it's clear immense care went into this. if i went to a TMV concert and heard this I would be pleased. AMAZING!
I think this is my first time hearing a vocal cover of a Volta song. Uh. Didn't think I'd be coming across anything like this and I certainly didn't think it would be so flippin' good. What the nuts
wonderful, incredible!! 🎉 Mars Volta is my favorite group, they are unique to me, I love their music... and your version... it has left me speechless... I have seen your video about 5 times... in 2 days and I can't get enough... your style, your sound, your production... you remind me of Steven Wilson. You are a prodigy you make me fall in love!😍😍
hands down the best tmv cover on yt. so fucking well done and everything preformed, recorded, mixed, mastered and edited solo... bravo foreal, you are a beast!
This cover is absolutely beautiful. The guitar, the accuracy of the vocals and effects, everything. Seriously, this is such a stunning cover. It shakes me to my core how you can see and *feel* the effort put into each section. You did an amazing job.
This is definitely the best Volta cover. You nailed all the parts while being true to yourself. The best way you could have covered this honestly very very beautiful especially the ending was unexpected.
I had to come back to this. This is very unusual. The performance and video editing are on an SSS tier. This is a one man production....yet the view count is rather low for the level of quality here. There is a level of exclusivity here that I feel privlaged to partake in. The love of music has returned.
@@kahall Know that we all appreciate this. I'll go as far to say that this has improved my life in some way. Nice solo footage btw....straight shot with no cutaway.
@ thank you!! however truthfully the solo in the middle section is actually not one take, it was 3 separate takes that i merged together, however the video accompaniment for each take is me actually improv recording the solo rather than miming it ofc
Is not a cover, it's THE COVER.
RESPECT.
This is easily one of the most impressive covers I've ever seen. Just ever.
thats a big compliment, thank you
Second that!
Yup
I hope that they see this
Dear TH-cam gods, please allow this masterpiece to end up on Omar and Cedric’s screens and have them do a blind react so we can see them cry openly at how deeply loved they and their music are. ❤❤❤ This cover like- moves me to my core!

It is true
I concur
If a cover can be a masterpiece, this is it.
This is a PhD in The Mars Volta!🏆👏
definitely
Quite possibly the best cover of any song i have ever heard.
This never happened.
thank you!
but i sawwwww you leave

Holy shit, somebody show this to Omar and Cedric.

same
Seriously miles ahead of any Volta cover, crazy good
Probably one of the best covers I've seen on youtube. An ambitious song, too!
How do I like this a million times?
This is the best cover i have ever seen of any song ever
Words cannot express what I just experienced. I don’t understand how it’s possible for one person to have done what you just did. The ending was the greatest Easter egg ever

oh shit... was not expecting the frances the mute section in the end. this is fucking insane.
i love that song and thought it worked really well
The most overlooked cover of any song ever. I can't even imagine how long it took you to produce BOTH the song and visuals. You deserve every ounce of fame down to the smallest decimal.
Rare algorithm win today. This is incredible. The amount of work you put in and your connection to the spirit of the song/band is so clear while watching this. Thank you.
Somehow this is more album-accurate than TMV could ever achieve themselves, and with a personal interpretation at the same time. Amazing work!
I come back to this often, and every time the pure emotional power nearly makes me tear up, this is truly a transformative masterpiece. Deserving to be held in it's own regard alongside the original. This is to The Mars Volta what Johnny Cash did with N.I.N's Hurt.

thank you! i changed it that way because i couldnt quite match the nasally tone of cedrics voice there so i took the opportunity to give it a different twist
This is far beyond impressive! You are an astounding musician! This is something I’ve listened to several times already
Cuz of this cover i subscribed...i shared this video to a plenty of people...
that transition from experimental to flat out hard rock @9:06 gets my blood PUMPING

Truly great. Just wow.
Im speechless, this blew my mind! I shed a tear or two in pure awe.
This cover made me so extatic I'm still all over the place 10 minutes later reading all the comments. You can take what they tell you without a single pinch of salt. This is truly an incredible cover of an incredible song. You made it yours.
Beautiful cinematography too.
this is honestly the greatest cover of any song I've ever heard, and that's coming from a direhard Zeppelin fan.....
PS you gave me the same chills that the original does during the FFF breakdown after the extended solo & jam.
more, MORE, MOOOOOOORE! I want more.
Damn, I had chills for the most part
I cannot believe this. this is legitimately gives me the same feelings as listening to the original track. Goosebumps. Kudos!!
this is incredible, infinite props
Se nota el amor, probablemente uno de los mejores cover a TMV que he visto.
Eeeeeeerga, te rifaste!!! cantaste, tocaste guitarra, bajo y programaste la bateria y editaste el video, increíble, eres grande!
this is really fucking beautiful, and what makes this cover really stand out is that you not only recreate the song but do it with smartness and passion.
i also got the feeling that you understand pretty well what it is all about - the lyrics, vocal lines and the music. rarely these days do people really understand the mars volta music. thank you so much.
no thank you so much! and yes i had listened to this song a billion times before covering, i studied it well before going into it, i wanted to make sure it had the same level of passionate storytelling energy the original had :)
Keep doing things! Never stop plz. Love from Argentina.
Wow, that was very very impressive.
Don Chanclas would be very proud of this, without a doubt. Excellent version, tremendous, and the FTM bonus at the end, simply beautiful.
You are amazing! Absolutely destroyed this song in the best way. No cover i have ever seen of Mars Volta has captured their essence as well as you have captured it here. You are just an amazing musician. Keep going keep goin keep going!
This is one of my favorite records of all time. Excellent work.
Ok I gotta comment again here... coming from a big TMV fan, production value spot on. This cover is incredible- it's clear immense care went into this. if i went to a TMV concert and heard this I would be pleased. AMAZING!
my guuuuuy!!! this cover is beyond awesome, thank you...And please do more covers of the mars volta!!
I think this is my first time hearing a vocal cover of a Volta song. Uh. Didn't think I'd be coming across anything like this and I certainly didn't think it would be so flippin' good. What the nuts

Jesus christ I really didn't expect this quality this is amazing wtf
thank you so much!
wonderful, incredible!! 🎉
Mars Volta is my favorite group, they are unique to me, I love their music... and your version... it has left me speechless...
With the exception of the Spanish lyrics, everything else was fire !!!.
The best cover i've heard of this song, hands down
This cover is absolutely beautiful. The guitar, the accuracy of the vocals and effects, everything. Seriously, this is such a stunning cover. It shakes me to my core how you can see and *feel* the effort put into each section. You did an amazing job.
So refreshing to see a cover that puts a refreshing unique spin on the original, but still retains its qualities. Great job on this!
GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT JOB TRULY IMPRESSIVE , THE PLAYING , THE SINGING, THE ARRANGEMENT AND THE PRODUCTION 10/10
This makes me happy. Thanks for sharing your art to make me happy.
Probably the most impressive TH-cam video I have ever seen
wow thank you! comments like these are very rewarding :)
This is definitely the best Volta cover. You nailed all the parts while being true to yourself. The best way you could have covered this honestly very very beautiful especially the ending was unexpected.
thank you soo much! and yes the ending is additional but once i had the idea to add a frances the mute section couldnt resist it
This is seriously the best cover I’ve ever heard.
This is not just a cover, it's an EXPERIENCE. Just astonishing work, I'm so glad to have stumbled on this. Please don't stop creating.
I had to come back to this. This is very unusual. The performance and video editing are on an SSS tier. This is a one man production....yet the view count is rather low for the level of quality here.
There is a level of exclusivity here that I feel privlaged to partake in. The love of music has returned.
this view count is extortionate for me, im very pleased with the exposure its got hahah
@@kahall Dude, high value production. Peace!
Wow, never seen a mars volta cover this good. Amazing job and glad TH-cam recommended. I'm sure this was a tremendous effort and it absolutely shows
So glad this randomly popped up in my feed.
This will forever live at the Marble Shrine.
The boys should be proud.
👏 👏👏
Wow. That was amazing. I hope Omar or Cedric see this
I love how the singer follows almost exactly Cedric's voice and tone.
Not even follows, it goes around, above, and even beyond at times ❤
This isn't a cover. It's art! Well done, soooo very well done! 👏
Tremendous, comes to mind
fuck yeah, not just a cover but your unique own version and it sounds fucking good
Wow bravo 👏
Wow, just wow. I'll be coming back to this version, a lot. Don't stop doing what you are doing.
Amazing. So glad this came in my recommended.
Unbelievably good. Bravo.
